Expérience fantastique: Excellent care received at Royal Vet Midtown for our cat, Chica. I recommend to anyone. I looked around a fair bit before deciding on this vet. (This was in part because Chica is a rescue and I did not have any history of her previous experiences with going to the vet.i didn’t want to take any chances. ) I appreciated were that they were upfront with prices, and had excellent hours (7 days a week). Also, they have an online booking system on their website so it’s extremely easy to find an appointment slot. Upon arrival, the check-in was smooth and we were promptly lead to a private room for our comfort and privacy. Water and coffee were also offered. We were there for a first appointment (wellness exam/vaccination), and felt at ease the entire time. Our veterinarian technician (whom I forgot her name unfortunately), was very friendly and did a great job explaining everything. Chica is a timid indoor cat, so she was very anxious on her visit to the vet. Our veterinarian, Dr. Valerie Leclaire, was very patient, gentle, and understanding with Chica. She made sure Chica was as comfortable as possible before proceeding with anything. At our appointment, every member of the staff was attentive and helpful with us. We did not feel rushed in any way and all my questions were answered. We ended up looking at their selection of food, and dental care products after, and never once felt pressured to buy anything. It’s clear they really care about their patients first. Yes, our sleepyhead was anxious during her big day out of the house, but asides from that, things couldn’t haven’t gone any better. Thank you Royal Vet Staff!

Kind patient, helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Royal Vet. Anyone who wants their pet to be treated like a member of their family.

Expérience fantastique: I initially called Royal Vet DDO but they were fully booked. The staff kindly informed me that Royal Vet Décarie had availability. Even though I didn’t have a file with them and it was an emergency with my cat, they acted quickly and helped me get an appointment. I was genuinely scared for my cat and desperately looking for help, and in less than 10 minutes they managed to book me in. The service over the phone was already amazing. When I arrived at the clinic, the experience was just as great. The receptionists were extremely sweet and welcoming, the technician was very kind and funny, which helped calm my nerves, and Dr. St-Amour was incredibly gentle and compassionate with my baby Kuku. You could really tell she cared. Overall, I loved this place. Excellent service, friendly staff, and a very caring team. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a vet who truly cares about their pets.

Expérience fantastique: My son (cat) was received like the prince that he is. The vet (Dr. St-Amour) was obviously passionate and devoted to the wellbeing of my special feline. The tech (Nikki) was super professional and explained the procedures in a great way. She waited until my perfection (my cat’s affectionate nickname) was ready and comfortable to perform vaccines and to draw blood. I received results quickly and clear answers. They valued the well-being of my furry son over their financial gains.

Expérience négative: I spent close to 1000$ trying to find the issue with my cat who is dying from a parasite that they did find and called me back to tell me what medication is needed and how much (Ronidazole 1x day 30 mg per kilo my cat being 2.78 kilos =6.129 pounds 84.4 mg) but said they don’t have it and can’t prescribe it and I could do my own research to try and find it somewhere else or pay for more tests(Wich is completely unnecessary because they found the issue ) so they renewed the same antibiotics that didn’t work in the first place months ago and told me to wait . Not to mention the front desk workers talk about their personal life way to loud in the open as if not caring about clients being there and being extremely unprofessional and not really caring to provide me with any answers on how to solve my dying cats problem. Just checking my products out and leaving me to hang dry because they were busy.

Dr. Bilick was very knowledgable and so professional and they take the time with you, they are so committed to the health of your pet.

Expérience positive: There is one thing I did not understand at my last visit, I was charged for an antibiotic $44.65 and again when renewed prescription after a few days $18.15, for the same dose. When asked why I was told there is a prescription fee removed at my 2nd pickup. First time hearing about a prescription fee, and what is curious it doesn’t appear on the first invoice, seems to be included in price?? Just found out because happened to ask. Thanks

The vet immediately figured out the medication my cat was put on by the previous vet was causing more issues than helping and switched her to a different medication. My cat has been doing fantastically since then!

Expérience fantastique: Royal Vet on des Jockeys is literally the most amazing place to care for your pets. We have been taking our dogs there for years and the staff is incredible…..caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, always willing to help and try to get us evaluated even in emergencies. I cannot speak more highly of this clinic…we wouldn’t trust anyone else for dogs’ primary care. Special shout out to the vet techs who rock, Maria and Hannah and all the front desk staff, and of course the fantastic veterinarians, especially the absolutely incredible Dr Billick who’s care and compassion are unmeasurable.

She was extremely thorough with his intake and his actual surgery day. The receptionists are lovely and always answer, his surgery was two days ago and since then we have already received a follow up text and phone call - really makes it known they care for your pet. I am so thankful for all the techs, receptionists, and veterinarians that work there. I'm happy to call this place my dogs vet.

Royal Vet will always be our veterinary clinic, and I highly recommend it to any pet parents looking for the utmost care and respect. But Audrey was so patient and gentle and was able to give my dog all her vaccines. This is by far the best clinic I’ve been to.

I never feel rushed during my appointments and they take the time to answer all my questions and make a plan with me that fits my needs and my budget. I recommend to everyone.

Expérience négative: In 2024, this clinic was simply top-notch! Now, it's a great experience, but the negligence is off the charts. They employ managers, not specialists! Last year, they left my dog ​​for a day after surgery, and this year, they charged $2,000 just to leave him overnight. They took the pills for the surgery, and then sold my pills again. Very little information about the dog is unclear. We barely got to them after the surgery; he was in very poor condition after the surgery, nothing significant, essentially. Again, it's all about money. I don't recommend them; they've completely changed their team, and their priority isn't the dog's life! I'll correct the translation error! My dog ​​was bleeding after the surgery, and they offered to keep her overnight. The team paid $2,000, but last year they just left her after the surgery under the doctors' observation for no money. I refused and took the dog home. After that, I contacted them all with no results. I don't recommend this clinic and I really regret it. I went back this year!

Expérience fantastique: The clinic is always clean and the personnel is very kind and polite. My dog used to feel scared when visiting vet clinics but at Royal Vet he walks happily as if he was home.

Expérience négative: Many red flags after the first or second appointment. Just go somewhere else if you don't like overpaying, errors in payments that charge you way more than they're supposed to or even going for surgeries you haven't asked for and told them no 2-3 times, still having to check in with them to make sure they won't do it and charge you for it.

The vet worked with us to find a treatment plan that fit my budget and gave my girl the best chance to recover. I am so incredibly grateful for the compassion and kindness with which we were treated. We’re home with everything I need to help my kitty get better at a fraction of the cost of what the other vet was trying to charge. The receptionists were very sweet, the girl who came to teach us how to give fluids was knowledgeable and very very thorough. Everyone we spoke with was amazing, caring, comforting. My sweet baby was loved on and we left feeling like they genuinely cared. I will definitely be back for my future needs, and will recommend this place to everyone in the area! Thank you again!

Expérience négative: I brought my dog in for a simple blood test, and she was completely fine before the appointment — walking normally and acting like her usual self. Not even five minutes after the test, she suddenly couldn’t walk properly, was dragging her paw, and clearly in pain. When I went back right away, they did check her paw and gave me pain medication for free, which I appreciated. But the fact remains — my dog was perfectly fine before the visit and injured right after. That doesn’t just “happen” by coincidence. It’s really upsetting and hard to trust that kind of situation. When I spoke with Mario (the manager), I was told to just file a claim about it. That felt like they were trying to avoid responsibility instead of truly acknowledging what happened. I’m very disappointed and heartbroken by this experience. I trusted them with my dog’s care, and instead, I left with her in pain.

Every single team member, from the experienced technicians to the kind receptionists, consistently makes our visits stress-free and positive. What truly sets this clinic apart is their understanding of a cat's emotional needs. Kafka was allowed to bring his emotional support "kitten" (a beloved, worn-out stuffy whose seen better days) with him for his dental cleaning, because they understood the comfort it brings him. Expérience positive: First, be aware of the paid parking behind the building. It’s $4.10 for 1 hour, but if your appointment runs over and you try to extend, you’ll be charged another $4.10 for just 30 minutes. This feels like a rip-off. Second, the service at the clinic is very slow. I waited over an hour before the vet saw my dog. For anxious pets, such long waits are extremely stressful and not acceptable. The veterinarian was nice and explained well the situation.

Both the vet technician, Alexia, and Dr. Groulx were patient, professional, and compassionate. I was very nervous that day because I was worried about my cat, but they were understanding and reassuring. I barely had to wait before being seen, and the whole appointment went smoothly. I can’t recommend them highly enough — they gave me peace of mind, and that means everything.

Expérience fantastique: Thé Midtown Royal Vet is my local go-to vet, they are all really nice, from the receptionists to the vet assistants to the vets themselves. They are all very good with my dog, a chihuahua. What I also like is that generally I can get an appointment fairly quickly, as we never like to see our pets suffering. I have been a client of theirs for about two years and always have an excellent experience.

Expérience fantastique: They have an exotic specialist and they saw my rabbit as an emergency 1st time patient when both of my regular vets said they couldn't/wouldn't see her. I'm very impressed and grateful for their help today. There was no upselling/unnecessary testing done which is quite rare. Fantastic experience from reception to care.

Expérience positive: EDIT: After my experience they did act swiftly to right the situation that I had experienced and they seemed genuinely concerned about providing good service. I took my cat for a treatment here. The people were very kind and the facility is spotless, clearly a lot of work is put into making sure this place LOOKS nice. But shortly within the first visit it was clear they actively tried to deceive you with their pricing. During the time I was taking my cat to the vet I had to pry the prices of all of the procedures on multiple occasions. They tried double charge me on procedures I had already gotten, and they push you to spend as much money as possible. Furthermore, I had an "optional" procedure that they did not tell me about. Then proceeded to do the procedure and charge me for it after I told them it was not made clear to me what they were doing. They take advantage of pet owners because they know we will do and pay as much as we can to save our animals. I can honestly say I will never EVER go back. TLDR: Actively try to deceive you with prices. If you do decide to go after this review. Make sure you get them tell you at every point what it is you're paying for, and be sure to go over the invoice with them because they will charge you more if they can.

Expérience fantastique: Superbe experience. Went in for an emergency and by the end decided to start a file here. Clean, organized easily accessible building. Kind, attentive, transparent staff. Was provided all the information I needed and had all of my questions answered. An impressive place I highly recommend.

Expérience positive: I just wanted to share me experience during my last visit at the midtown location. I brought my two cats in yesterday; one for a UTI follow-up and one for a wellness check. Obviously, the UTI follow-up was necessary, but the wellness check-up was me simply being told that my cat is well-groomed... I thought more would've been done, but that is all at the cost of 120$. Not only that, the new vet that I got seemed like they only wanted to sell me different products and services and did not feel genuine when treating my cats. They kept mistaking both cats and calling them "boyfriends": they are brother and sisters. The vet always gave new suggestions that I did not ask for and kept trying to sell me vaccines and other things. They even gave me the suggestion of giving my cat the rabies shot despite them being indoor cats. The vet gave the ludicruous example of "it would reassure people that the cats cannot get rabies"... a ludicrous excuse for 75$. I previously saw Dr. Asselin and was told that he was not free today, so I was getting someone else which I agreed. These guys contacted me at least 4 times during the week following multiple changes which made the experience very bad: cancelling, changing time, etc. Not only that, after giving the bloodwork, the replacement vet told me that we can try a stress reduction diet or medication. They explained to me the medication and started my cat on a 200mg dose daily of Gabapentin. A simple research online would show that a safe dose would be 50-200mg: a starting dose would've been highly appreciated. My cat has had muscle jerks all morning which terrified me and my partner, but hopefully it will go away. The vet told me that some side effects would include tiredness, but did not mention the involuntary movements. If I were not educated in this field, I would be traumatized seeing my cat react this way. At the end, the vet suggested me to come back in 3 weeks for a follow-up to the follow-up. Looking online, this would cost another 100$ just for the consultation itself, not to mention another urinalysis for 80$. Update 2025-08-14: I decided to give this place a second chance and they really improved on the customer service side. They were willing to correct what was wrong and I will be a returning client in the near future.

On the day of the visit, the reception staff were very welcoming and accommodating, even offering us coffee or water. The veterinarian and her assistant were both highly professional and attentive. I had to take my cat in for a same-day emergency appointment on a Saturday, and Royal Vet was the only clinic (out of the 5 places I called) that had a vet in-office that day and could accept a last-minute visit. Everyone from the receptionist to the vet techs and vet were so kind. I felt like I was given reasonable advice / options for my pet - there was no upselling for additional testing (which I’ve experienced from other clinics unfortunately). So happy I found this clinic.

The vet and the vet techs were all super nice to myself and to my cat and I did not get the feeling that they were trying to create unnecessary expenses for me. My favourite part was someone drew a little heart beside Sprout's name for his meds. I'm so happy to have found a vet within walking distance to see Sprout through all of his life stages.

Expérience négative: I brought my cat to Royal Vet approximately a year ago due to concerning behavior, including excessive squinting. He was diagnosed with an eye ulcer—essentially a scratch on the surface of the eye—and was sent home with ointments and drops. Upon returning for a follow-up, I was told the ulcer wasn’t healing properly and that a procedure involving scratching the surface of his eye with a needle would be necessary to "reopen the wound" and promote healing. I was extremely uncomfortable with this recommendation and, trusting my instincts, sought a second opinion from a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist. Within minutes, the specialist identified the underlying cause of the ulcer—something that had gone completely undiagnosed at Royal Vet. Moreover, I was informed that the invasive procedure recommended by the vet is never advised for cats and could have caused serious harm, including the possibility of partial blindness. Had I not followed my gut, my cat could have suffered irreversible damage. While the staff at Royal Vet were polite, it is deeply concerning that such a dangerous and inappropriate treatment was even suggested. This experience has raised serious concerns about the clinic’s diagnostic capabilities and the appropriateness of the procedures they offer. Additionally, I found the pricing to be excessive and questionable. I was charged $80 per vial for eye drops that the specialist provided for just $10. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with the level of care, the lack of proper diagnosis, and what appears to be a significant markup on basic treatments. This experience has left me with serious doubts about the clinic’s priorities and veterinary standards. I’m sharing my experience in hopes that it may help protect other dogs and cats going through something similar—trust your instincts and seek out proper specialists when something doesn’t feel right. It could make all the difference in your pet’s health and safety.

Expérience fantastique: Excellent team, understanding and caring. They always help accommodating emergency visits ASAP which is a relief when you are in distress for your pet. Medical team is excellent as soon as you enter you are welcomed with a smile and loving for your pet. The vets are experienced and knowledgeable. They listen with patience and take the safest approach for your babies. Highly recommended, they have save my senior cats several times from serious conditions. We are in the best hands no doubt about it.

Expérience fantastique: We arrived at Royal Vet after 6 weeks of dealing with another veterinary in Montreal. At that moment we felt abused and frustrated with the way that other vet treated us. Our cat (Kiki) had an accident and broke one bone of his paw. With the other vet we didn't see any progress in his recovery while they were overcharging us every two weeks. Literally we were running out of our savings while no recovery was seen in our cat. The experience with Royal Vet was completely the opposite. When we arrived both the technician and the medical veterinary listened very carefully to our specific needs and understood what we were dealing with. They treated Kiki with lots of love and care. Additionally, after the X rays and at every step of our appointment they explained to us Kiki's status and they helped us design a plan for our specific objectives. An excellent veterinary is that one that helps your pet recover in the fastest and safest way, while at the same time minimizing the expenses that you need to pay. In other words, a good vet won't overcharge you and will walk with you and your pet towards its recovery. That's exactly what we felt with Royal Vet. They committed to help Kiki to recover its health with the less possible, but safe, number of appointments until our return to Mexico. The price they charged us was not expensive and even cheap, considering the same-day appointment and the high-quality and personal service they offer. The cherry on top of the cake: After coming back home, Kiki managed to remove his cast. We called them and they helped us to put on him a new one that same day. Even, they sedated him and shaved his injured leg to prevent that he removed it again. All this second service, FREE OF CHARGE. We were very happy to leave the health of our cat in their hands.

Her gentle approach with my cat and the time she took to explain everything brought me real comfort when I needed it most. Both Royal Vet locations I visited — in DDO and Midtown — were equally wonderful: welcoming, calm, and respectful environments that made a very difficult day feel a little less overwhelming. The rest of the staff were also incredibly supportive, compassionate, and professional. I’m deeply grateful to Dr. Greenspoon and the entire Royal Vet team for treating my cat with dignity and for being so kind to me during such a hard time. Thank you for making this painful experience feel a little gentler.

Expérience positive: I have been taking my cat to annual checkups and vaccinations here. And so far the service has kind of disappointed me. Since they are not cheap. All technicians and veterinarians are very nice and do their job but the receptionists, specially the one who I talked to this time was not professional at all, she came to tell me my appointment was at 4 when they called me one day before asking me to change my appointment to 3:45. After that when I was trying to pay, their machines were not working a the time and I didn’t mind to wait but when they told me to pay through a link and I did it and told them, they completely ignored me. Payed 277 cad for a booster vaccine and flea treatment for 6 months in total. If someone has a better alternative around the area. Please lmk!
