VCA Canada Guardian Veterinary Centre: Avis
Expérience fantastique: Excellent team, I can’t say enough good things about Kristina and Dr Baxter. Took my fussy cat in for urinary retention and he was seen right away. Even on a day that seemed difficult and busy for the team, they checked on us and gave great advice. I also thought the fees were more than fair, compared to what I anticipated. Thank you!
Expérience fantastique: I took my 13 year old Havanese dog to this clinic to see a medical internist for assessment of painful leg affecting the dogs ability to walk and review of lab work which revealed a elevated liver function tests. The staff was very friendly on arrival. The vet tech took a excellent history and preliminary examination. Dr. Tam then saw our dog and performed a review of the history and detailed examination. The next day our dog had a ultrasound of the abdomen and fluid was sampled from several joints. A diagnosis was made including Auto immune polyarthritis and liver mass. Treatment with prednisone was started for the arthritis with quick improvement in the dogs ability to walk. The prednisone caused problems with bleeding from the stomach and vomiting [expected side effects]. He was reassessed at the clinic and admitted for further lab work, IV hydration and medication. He is currently admitted. Care and communication has been excellent. Assessment and treatment is very costly however I am not hesitant to pay when the care is excellent. It is probably a good idea to have pet insurance in the event it is required. In his 13 years this is the most complex care that he has required. We will see how he does. Tom Ranieri
Expérience fantastique: We took our baby elmo there on one of our hardest night in our lives and HD to say goodbye to him we wanted to thank victoria and Brianna for all the help and support we received whe having to say goodbye to a family member thank you so much to the staff there and I hope tht if anyone else has to go thru this that u k ow the staff and vets are amazing and so supportive to help you get the help and support u need Sincerely Darren and Mei li
Expérience fantastique: Cannot say enough good things about the staff. Canada Day, my Pomeranian puppy broke both front legs. July 2nd Dr Fowler had a very clear plan to fix our pup up and did just that. His care while there was impeccable and everyone was so kind to me, even though I called constantly, to check on my puppy. After a couple of weeks, we had our puppy start some rehabilitation with Jorgia. Jorgia is an absolute angel. Bruin, my puppy, would get excited when I would say her name. He loved her that much. She too had a very clear plan in helping him get stronger, and boy did she ever. Forever grateful for the incredible staff. Thank you all so much EDIT - yesterday we were back at Guardian as my Pomeranian underwent bilateral luxating patella surgery. Dr Sathya was incredible. Kind, caring and compassionate. He kept me totally informed of the plan for Bruins knee surgery and also checked in on me. I can’t wait to see my boy running around this summer. Thank you Dr Sathya. To the tech girls, you ALL rock. I know that Bruin had the best care. I appreciated the texts and pictures of our wee guy. It helped our hearts knowing he was away for a night. Thank you so much. We will be back in a few month for some physio with Jorgia. Truly an amazing team, all of you!
Expérience fantastique: We had an excellent experience with Dr. Sereda and his surgical team. From start to finish, they were nothing short of amazing. This was my dog’s second TPLO surgery, and I felt completely comfortable and confident leaving her in their care. They were compassionate, professional, and took the time to explain everything so I always knew what to expect. I am so grateful for the level of care they provided and would highly recommend them to anyone needing orthopedic surgery for their pet.
Expérience fantastique: We had an emergency with our 15 year old kitty. They took us in ran tests and we went home. The next day we went back as things were not getting better and were only progressing. They ran more tests and gave us the utmost respect while there, even though my hubby was a little upset, angry and mouthy with them due to the lack of sleep and the thought of losing our baby. It was not intentional and yes he did apologize. Even though the results were not what we wanted to hear, they gave us time to decide what we wanted to do and were very caring and compassionate throughout the whole ordeal. Whenever I call and ask questions due to our kitty's situation they are sure to answer each and every one of them in a polite manner. They also have a financing company on-site to help you with your vet bill if needed. So even though they may be pricey, as some have said, they have options to help with that, unlike alot of other vets.
Expérience fantastique: Dr. Suresh Sathya and his team performed a TPLO surgery on my eldest girl, Supernova. As a guardian I felt fully informed along the way and Supernova loved coming back and seeing her friends for post surgery appointments. She is now on her way to being fully recovered and I’m so happy to have found Dr. Sathya and his team. I forgot his technicians name but she was exquisite at encouraging Supernova and helping her feel safe and at ease. Thank you all for the work you are doing. - Govind
Expérience fantastique: They were very , prompt, compassionate, caring, and understanding When we brought in our dear Teddy. The whole team were very professional. Thank you so much
Expérience fantastique: I can’t say enough good things about Guardian Veterinary Centre. The level of care and professionalism shown by Dr. Suresh Sathya and his entire team was truly second to none. From start to finish, we felt supported, informed, and confident that our pet was receiving exceptional care. I would highly recommend Guardian Veterinary Centre to anyone seeking top-tier veterinary services.
Expérience fantastique: My husband and I brought our senior dog to this VCA location on Boxing Day this year, as she was in distress due to her diabetes being unstable because of a flu she had gotten. We normally took her to the Sherwood Park VCA Mills Haven location, however it was closed on this date. We were immediately seen, despite the full waiting room and they took our dog to the back for emergency care as she was in shock. They kept us informed as they were treating her, and once they knew where she was with regard to her condition and outlook, and she was comfortable, Dr. Spencer spoke with us very kindly, clearly and answered all of our questions. He provided all of our options but did not give false hope either - which I appreciated so much - he provided the facts in a very clear and gentle manner. We were given lots of time to discuss things and never felt rushed. We had not thought that we would be saying goodbye to our sweet girl that day, but Dr. Spencer and the veterinary technician working with us helped us so much. They were so kind and allowed us time and privacy with our girl before and after her final goodbye. They were so respectful and we were completely allowed our time. Afterwards, all of the arrangements were taken care of smoothly for us, and today we received the most beautiful handwritten sympathy card from Dr. Spencer and Claire, the Veterinary technician - and they have only met us once. My husband and I can’t speak highly enough about these two people, and if the rest of this clinic is like them I would not hesitate to go to this VCA. Thank you so much for your gentle care during such a sad time of our lives.
Expérience fantastique: Dr. Lemaire and all the staff took such good and loving care of my dog. He had a ruptured anal gland abscess and they gave him excellent care. Compassionate, thorough and kind. Just what you need when your pet is sick. Highly recommend this emergency clinic.
Expérience fantastique: All of the staff are extremely kind and knowledgeable. Have unfortunately had to take my dog here multiple times and every time the staff have just been amazing.
Expérience fantastique: Staff were patient and courteous in a stressful situation. Thank you so much.
Expérience fantastique: My sweet baby dog Pebbles had a heart condition. When the end came and we rushed her to VCA they were the most kind, caring and compassionate group of people I could have asked for. I called ahead and they were ready for her. When they knew she wouldn’t make it, the vet came to get me and make sure I was with her as she crossed over. After she passed, he sat with her and I and listened to the story of how we adopted her and how much she came to mean to my kids and I. They make the after care easy to deal with and it was an amazingly comforting process from beginning to end. I would recommend them any time in an emergency. They are just great in all departments.
Expérience fantastique: Absolute top tier treatment for emergency care. Will always come back here if possible! Helped my Lenny man
Expérience fantastique: We received the most incredible care this Boxing Day. Unbelievably quick assessment, thorough examination and explanation of what was ailing our sweet dog, and an immediate sense of relief knowing she’d be ok. We’re so grateful for all the care we received, from the front desk staff to the exam room. Thank you for being so wonderful!
Expérience négative: The level of professionalism and compassion shown here raises serious concerns. A bill of $8,000–$10,000 was presented for a young cat under one year old, along with an ultimatum: proceed with these costs or consider euthanasia. This was done without a clearly explained preliminary diagnosis. Based on the blood work, no clear or structured treatment protocol was communicated. Instead, costly procedures were added without sufficient justification. Particularly concerning was charging for sedation and placement of a nasogastric feeding tube in a cat that was already eating, despite kidney-related abnormalities in the lab results. This approach reflects poor communication, lack of transparency, and questionable clinical decision-making. Pet owners deserve clear explanations, ethical care, and informed choices — not pressure.
Expérience négative: After my cat’s tests, we were told we had only two choices: pay $8,000 or euthanize her. It felt like financial pressure rather than genuine care for the animal.
Expérience fantastique: This was the only place we could frantically come up with at 12am when our dog started getting really sick. We were quickly triaged, and seen by a doctor who quickly reassured us that there is nothing serious to worry about. Dr. Richards showed me some techniques, explained the medication and sent us on our way! The dog is feeling better and I got a sense that the people working there really enjoy doing what they do. I'm glad we came here.
Expérience fantastique: I can’t thank the team at VCA enough for the incredible care they gave to Elvis. From the moment we arrived, everyone was so compassionate. They kept me informed every step of the way and made a stressful situation so much easier. After his procedure, they even allowed me to visit him, which meant the world to me. Their kindness and professionalism truly stand out.
Expérience fantastique: A wonderful facility that helped a lost cat that I was waiting to be placed in the care of ACC. The kitten was struggling and I called an emergency veterinary clinic. After explaining the situation the kind individual on the other end of the line told me to contact Guardian. It was getting later in the evening but the people at this facility did a thorough exam of the little one, diagnosed the probable cause, and took the cat into it's care. Without their help the outcome for the poor thing would not have been very good.
Expérience fantastique: They did a great job explaining everything, making sure we understood and we're clear with the costs
Expérience fantastique: I am blown away by the care, kindness and compassion by everyone I met here. We have had a scary weekend with our senior cat, coming in twice in one weekend. We’ve never had to go to an emergency vet before, and all the techs and vets we interacted with helped ease our nerves. Everyone was so incredibly kind and supportive, and clearly passionate about what they do. The vets were so thorough and attentive in their discussions with us about our options, and talked with us about costs as well and what was necessary to keep the costs as low as possible. I am just in awe of everyone that I interacted with, and I hope each and every one of you read this review and know how special and appreciated you are. We felt so safe and at ease with our 23+ year old cat in your care in a scary situation and we cannot give enough gratitude and thanks to all of you. Thank you for what you do and thank you for being passionate about what you do.
Expérience fantastique: Thank you to Dr. Saresh & team for saving our dog’s life tonight. Words can’t express how grateful we are for your entire clinic’s care and compassion in how you allowed us to comfort her at her side before her surgery, and, most critically, the speed and accuracy with which you diagnosed the issue and triaged to have the on-call practitioners brought in. From the bottom of our hearts - thank you.
Expérience fantastique: I had to take my cat Kittan in, in the middle of the night. Unfortunately they couldn’t do anything to save her, but the way I was treated at this vet was amazing. They called me after to make sure I was okay, and told me about grief assistance which I had never been offered at any other vet. The day I picked her up the staff were so gentle and kind. They also sent a beautiful card in the mail with all their own little message when I opened it , I ended up bawling ❤️ This is by far the most caring vet I have ever been to. The vet where I had her teeth done before this tragedy happened never even sent a card and barely got back to me after Kittan had passed. This vet centre has real integrity and truly cares about you and your pet not just the money. If you ever have an emergency or just want good vet care, take them here. Thank you to the amazing staff who did your best helping me and my beautiful kitty, Kittan. She knows what you did for her!
Expérience fantastique: We came to VCA in an emergency for our Honey. They immediately knew there was a bigger problem than we were seeing and took her in for examination. I was notified promptly what the concerns were andwhat options we had going forward. Unfortunately, much to our distress, the only way was to let her sleep. Despite the heartbreaking news and sadness my partner and I felt from this, the staff were amazing. They allowed us all the time we needed to process the situation, giving us confidence and comfort through the process as well as patience for our emotional state. They also allowed us to bring Honeys littermate in to say his goodbyes. They did everything they could to provide Honey comfort. It was not the news we wanted, but we could not have asked for better staff in taking care of us and most importantly our pup Honey. We thank VCA for everything they did, and hopefully not have to return but will have confidence in them if we do.
Expérience fantastique: I lost my babe the morning of October 15 unfortunately there was nothing that could be done but they tried and the compassion, kindness and genuine care they gave to me was something I won't ever forget. Thank you Ladies!
Expérience fantastique: All the staff were amazing last night. They handled our emergency so professionally and kind. Dr. Narbonne was so kind and patient with explaining the situation and our options. When told that it would be wise to let my boy rest there over night they brought me back to see him and stay as long as I needed. It was a very stressful situation and I felt so much trust with the Dr. and the staff.
Expérience négative: DISGUSTED | HEARTBROKEN | DECIEVED With the full knowledge that VCA Canada Guardian Veterinary Centre is a FOR-PROFIT medical facility, I took my cat in on Sunday, October 19th/2025 as I had discovered blood in his urine and that my poor Wilfred was unable to relieve himself. As a life-long pet owner, I have a layman’s understanding of my animals’ health needs and while in no way a veterinarian, much like a parent who knows their child independent of medical knowledge, I had correctly diagnosed crystals or some sort of urinary/bladder/kidney complication. This was confirmed for me (after 5 hours in the waiting room) by Dr. Tannis Baxter that my Willi-Cat was indeed suffering from a blockage compromising his bladder, and that if the situation was not swiftly remedied, my cat would die. As the treatment options were outlined I was cautiously optimistic that while bladder crystals were life-threatening, I was familiar enough with the disease to understand that treatment(s) existed. Dr. Baxter echoed my optimism with what she claimed and phrased as ‘The Gold Standard’ treatment option and proceeded to explain that for the meagre sum of $3,800.00 (the good doctor omitting of course that this is in actuality an estimate between $3,800.00 - $4,500.00), my cat would have an excellent chance at overcoming this. Like all of us, I swallowed the eye-watering sum, mentally figuring out how I could move money around, and allowed myself to be reassured with (and this is a direct quote): “…it has an 85-90% success rate…”). This is after disclosing to me by Dr. Baxter that Wilfred (a standard domestic short-hair less than a year-and-a-half-old) had one of the smallest and narrowest urethras she had seen in her near 25 years as a veterinarian; she displayed no outward signs of doubt or reservation about the treatments’ efficacy with respect to this fact. I gave them $3,900.00 and left my sweet cat with them. On Sunday evening, I received a phone call from a ‘Dr. Jake’ informing me that they had initiated another $800.00 worth of treatment – this additional amount blowing past their initial estimate by over $200.00. …By 1:00pm, Tuesday, October 21st, VCA called to inform me that his bladder had re-blocked, and treatment had been unsuccessful. I was advised that barring a reattempt with the same treatment, or a $9,000.00 feline sex-change, it was explained (and I’m paraphrasing) that due to his unusually small urethra, (which Dr. Tannis Baxter identified earlier and despite this, recommended treatment) the treatment was almost certainly bound to fail and that there was never any real hope. Euthanasia (starting at $375.00 of course) is now the only reasonable option for my poor cat who I have just ensured his last few days on Earth have been filled with abject terror, agony, unfamiliarity, stress beyond comprehension and paralyzing confusion. In conclusion, like most malignant entities, VCA’s deception was never outright – lip service provided by Dr. Baxter, Dr. Jake, the various other attending animal physicians, tech and staff notwithstanding; the formula is apparent: Deliver as much False-Hope to desperate people to ensure that they’ll fork-over as much as they can (or can’t) afford, deny as much medical accountability as possible, omit facts and animal aspects that diminish anything which would expedite a solution or diminish profit (even if the outcome is negative), until no more treatment options exist, the creature simply cannot stand it, or the reality of their ineffectiveness can no longer be ignored. It goes without saying that if your animal needs urgent medical attention, take them here. But prepare yourself – and I don’t just mean your wallet – VCA Canada Guardian Veterinary Centre and the individuals who make the choice to be employed by such a caustic entity, will take full-advantage of your situation... …That is a guarantee. Expérience fantastique: Jake and the team were amazing with Blue. He can be so stressed at the vets but they were so caring, helpful, and kind. We are so grateful for this team
Expérience fantastique: We took our boy Dusty here and unfortunately the news wasn’t good. Dusty needed to be humanly put to sleep. First time going to this clinic, they were friendly, sincere, Sympathetic and very compassionate. Dusty was our 5 1/2 month old kitten that my seven-year-old owned. Dr. Dave told my seven-year-old how incredibly brave she was to say goodbye to her best friend. The treatment of Dusty was amazing and we very much appreciate everything that was done for Dusty. Thank you for all you do Canadian guardian veterinarian centre ❤️
Expérience fantastique: Guardian was incredibly kind and caring yesterday as six of us descended on the clinic with our 21 year old cat. His heart was laboured. At 21, we knew that the day was coming, but of course, it was hard. The process of giving us time with him after they placed the catheter and returning him to us in a soft bed and a hand knit blanket was so caring. The doorbell mounted on the wall to call the vet to perform the procedure was absolutely what we needed. It was like we were ringing the doorbell for him to cross that rainbow bridge. At 33, I have lived more of my life with the guy than without, and the vet and technicians were so accommodating and so, so kind. My parents drove in an hour with him and thank you to all the staff there on Sunday for being so good. You gave Cinder the relief he needed, and you gave our family the time and space to make it as comfortable as possible. I wish I remembered the names of the three staff we dealt with, but the moment was just such a blur. Thank you to the two techs and the vet for being so kind and compassionate. Cinder left us amidst so much love, and he knew it as he made his last purrs. We're all so grateful. Thank you. We'll cherish his paw prints forever.
Expérience fantastique: Woke up yesterday morning and my baby's third eyelids were red, swollen, and puffy. He had gunk covering his eyeballs and could barely see. When I wiped clean the eyes I saw we had a big problem and rushed him to VCA guardian right away as his regular vet is closed on weekends. They took him in and while we did wait a little bit, they gave him the perfect meds and I'm already seeing a massive improvement in just one day. The whole team was extremely caring and helpful. This is not my first time at this vet, and it won't be my last if my kitties have any emergencies. I recommend this place for sure.
Expérience fantastique: My Cane Corso has had TPLO on both his legs now, one was 2+ years ago and one a few months ago. Both have healed great and he's back to his old self. He seems pain free!
Expérience fantastique: Thank you for helping my cat. He is feeling so much better. He really likes the food you gave him. Thank you so much. <3
Expérience négative: My dog was vomiting blood in front of reception and we were told his condition was not serious. We waited for 6 hours and were told every time there were more urgent patients in front of us. Finally by 11 PM we were told the doctor chooses who they want to see and they didn’t want to treat our pet because he was stable. This was after the waiting area was basically empty and everyone who came before and after us was seen by the doctor. We gave up after and went to Century Park Animal hospital and they took us in right away. By that point my dog was extremely lethargic and very painful. He had also thrown up blood 2 more times since leaving. I wish they told us earlier that they didn’t want to treat our dog so it could have saved us time and saved our dog from having to experience prolonged suffering. It seems like they have doctors that specialize in certain areas rather than general practitioners.
Expérience fantastique: Found a stray cat and took him to Guardian Vet Clinic and they did a quick health check and checked for microchip. Cost me nothing and they were very professional. Highly recommend. (I may have a new cat)
Expérience fantastique: We are incredibly grateful for kind, thoughtful and professional service we received as we had to say goodbye to our beloved Mango and for the personal sympathy card a few days later. Thank you to all staff involved.
Expérience fantastique: My cat had an accident and was injured, was late night. Called and was told to come in immediately. The team there was absolutely amazing! Was greeted with kindness, the vet tech was such a sweetheart very informative and compassionate. Would highly recommend this clinic! The care and compassion went above and beyond.
Expérience fantastique: I will always recommend VCA!! absolutely amazing staff, so helpful and informative. they saved my pup after he got into something he shouldn't have and i will be forever grateful for them.
Expérience négative: Brought my 6 month old puppy in for lethargy, thick green mucus, extreme water intake, distended belly, wheezing, coughing, tell tale signs for infection, only to be told he had “food allergies” and to switch his treats. Later in the day I take him to his regular vet to find out his white blood cell count is through the roof and he is battling a severe infection. Totally blown off by the vet, if I hadn’t trusted my instincts and taken him elsewhere who knows what would’ve happened. Would not recommend as the wellbeing of my pet was blatantly disregarded.
Expérience fantastique: Absolutely incredible experience! VCA’s team is thoughtful, caring, professional, and highly knowledgeable. I would recommend them 10/10.
Expérience fantastique: I’ve been twice to this location. Last night I took my dog who was attacked by another dog and needed his neck stapled. In the past I had to bring my cat to be put to sleep. That time I was extremely distraught. Both times all the staff were incredibly thoughtful and kind. Although it was a long wait which is totally out of their control, I was grateful for their thorough care of both of my pets as well as their gentleness with me as the owner.
Expérience négative: We had a very upsetting experience with Guardian Veterinary Centre. Our dog was extremely sick (vomiting and severe diarrhea) and our friend had to wait 7 hours in the waiting room just to get her seen. She was kept overnight, and the next day we were told she had improved, was eating, and that her vomiting/diarrhea had stopped. We trusted this and brought her home with oral medication and care instructions. Within 24 hours at home, she still has not eaten, continues to vomit and have diarrhea, and has become so weak she could barely get around. When we called for support, after already paying $1750, we were told the only option was to bring her back in and start the entire assessment process again—as if no history or continuity of care existed. This level of customer support is completely unacceptable, especially considering the lack of progress and the negligence shown in assessing her true condition. We are extremely disappointed and would not recommend Guardian Veterinary Centre to anyone who wants compassionate and responsible care for their pet.
Expérience fantastique: My little 14-year-old Yorkie had to have his front leg amputated. We took him to guardian and they did an amazing job. My Gunny is running about like he hasn’t been a very long time. I would fully recommend guardian for any emergency vet care needs.
Expérience négative: I didn't think to write a review because the service was fine, however the experience completely shifted from fine to not okay the minute they lied to my dad about the situation. My dog was admitted here as a lost dog after running loose from our house. It was entirely mine and my family's mistake as we all thought our dog was somewhere in the house. We found him via a post on a community Facebook group and the person who collected him brought him to this vet hospital. It was 10pm when we had arrived and we left around 12am. They performed an emergency exam for him and administered meds (pain and anti-anxiety) without any record of his medical history. When we had arrived we were only told of everything they done and that we had to pay for it all. My dog is a senior dog who does have medical ailments which could explain the emergency exam and gets a lot of anxiety at vets so I assume the anti-anxiety was likely administered because he was uncooperative. Honestly, I didn't want to question anything despite me wondering if they needed consent to do anything to him, it had already been done, so what could I do? I thought because he was a lost dog, they had to take care of him accordingly. Everything would have been fine if they hadn't lied about the situation to my dad. My dad, who wasn't with me initially at the hospital, was frustrated at how long it was taking to retrieve our dog, drove by and asked for an explanation, asking why he had to undergo so much treatment. The lady at the desk told him "we are under the impression that your daughter is the owner of the dog and consented to everything." Incorrect. I didn't have a choice. How could I have consented for all the meds they administered when they already had done it by the time we got there? It would have been completely fine if they told us that they had to because he was a lost dog, sure. But no, they blatantly said that I consented to everything. All you told me was to pay up for medication and an emergency exam. Is paying consent? All I wanted to do was be cooperative because I just wanted my dog back. Everything could've been different if they just told me that it was policy or they had to do it, but to say I gave consent to everything when I had no choice was absurd. That's all, thanks. My dog is doing good.
Expérience négative: They don't triage as their signs indicate, it's a first come first serve unless they feel your case is "critical" then you may be seen quickly. Waited 3 hours with a dog with a fever and infection to be told we'd go back to the end of the line for to missing their call to come in after triage and was told all others that were triaged after would be seen first. When asked about the triage system, they had no answer just that the team determines the order pets are seen
Expérience fantastique: My 18 year old cat, Jasper, was very ill and I rushed him to Guardian Veterinary Centre. I really appreciated their triage procedure, which meant that he was assessed right away. He was later admitted to the hospital. I would like to thank Dr.Allen, Dennai, Melissa, and Lacey. I was treated with such empathy and kindness. All of my questions were answered. They ran all the necessary tests and Dr. Allen called me with the results. Her expertise was evident and I trusted that they were doing everything possible for Jasper. Dr. Allen is not just an excellent doctor, she has a caring nature that was so much appreciated. Dennai displayed genuine compassion, understanding, and sensitivity that made a real difference. Melissa and Lacey, thank you so much for taking care of Jasper. The staff I dealt with at Guardian Veterinary Centre were so wonderful to Jasper and me. I highly recommend them if you find your furry best friend in need of their services.
Expérience fantastique: I have left a review about Guardian once before under Randi Dickson which is me. I can’t seem to leave another under my actual name. Soooo here we are. Thank you so much Sandra for making me feel at ease after I accidentally cut the quick in my Guinea pigs nail. It is something I feared/fear when cutting their nails. I was in a panic when I called and you helped me greatly. My husband came to get the blood clot powder and you came through like a rockstar. More often than not when people ask me what Emergency vet clinic would I go to with my pets. It’s Guardian hands down. Only a few places we trust with the care of our fur babies and this place is 1 of the 3. Thank you again from me my family and Cocoa the Guinea pig.
Expérience fantastique: My husband and I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at VCA Hospital, and especially to Dr. Victoria Dalk, for the exceptional care given to our beloved Eliot. Dr. Dalk kept us fully informed about the FIP that Eliot was battling, and compassionately explained the options available to us after his diagnosis—a moment that felt like a sudden, cold rain. Your kindness and support during his euthanasia brought us great comfort. We remain certain that it was the most merciful choice, given how quickly his condition was worsening. We are deeply and sincerely grateful. Thank you for everything.
Expérience fantastique: THANK YOU soooo very much!!! Your Kindness ,patience and great compassion helped guide my son to the difficult decision of sending our believed Ludo to heaven!! Above and beyond compassionate care!!! A magnificent veterinarian!!!!!!’ A fabulous facility!!! Spencer Smith!!! You are amazing!!!
Expérience négative: I attempted to call regarding my very ill pet, but the receptionist who answered was quite abrupt. She asked a question very quickly and hung up before I had the chance to respond. I found this interaction to be quite rude and unhelpful, especially given the urgency of the situation
Expérience fantastique: Every single person working was amazingly lovely and compassionate. Prices are transparent and they understand financial situations. Triage is fair, after all it is an emergency clinic which also means emergency prices. If your animals symptoms change, tell the front and don’t just wait. The waiting area is nice and has a large complementary variety of hot drinks + vending machines. The cost for an emergency exam was $180 which is reasonable. Overall I felt very supported and comfortable, they were great with my dog
Expérience fantastique: Dr Sathya, He is highly professional and highly skilled surgeon. If your dog requires TPLO surgery, Dr. Sathya is your guy guardian vet is your place. He’s not the cheapest but he is likely the best. My dog was lame and crippled 8 months later she’s Queen of the dog park. These guys are absolutely amazing!
Expérience fantastique: We had an emergency July 5 and rushed our little pug into the city to Guardian. We are from out of town and called numerous places and all vets were busy with other emergencies. The sincere kindness, compassion and professionalism that Dr. Hailey Putznak and staff gave us was so appreciated in our distraught state. Chug was 15 yrs old and in a lot of pain, he was immediately taken in & given pain meds and wrapped in cozy blankets, he was treated so sincerely, so respectfully. He was bundled up lovingly as though he was their own and we took him home to bury him with the ashes of his lifetime pug companion Molly that passed last year. Thank you Guardian for being there for our loved one and for us.
Expérience fantastique: I’ve had nothing but excellent, compassionate care from the entire Guardian team. I had a very thorough phone consultation for my cats surgical needs. Although he didn’t require surgery at their clinic, I did end up taking him there for a 3am emergency visit post amputation. They kept him overnight to ensure he was healing well, and adjusted his medication to his specific needs. I felt the team went above and beyond, and their fees were shockingly reasonable! I hope we don’t need their emergency services any time soon but it’s comforting to know there’s such an amazing animal hospital in the city.
Expérience fantastique: Would give 10 stars if I could. Called them crying after calling like 7 other vets asking to euthanize my snake who was very clearly suffering and passed the point of return. Had about 30 dollars to my name and nobody else would let me do a payment plan of any sort. Called them and they were incredibly compassionate, told me they would talk it over and came back saying they could do a compassionate euthanisation free of charge. Brought her in almost immediately only to learn she had passed on the drive over, they then took prints of her scales and gave them to me before sending us on our way. Never have I met a group of people more kind and caring and will now only be taking my other pets to this vet. Thank you to everybody there and I will find a way to thank you properly!
Expérience fantastique: Called around to a few vets for the euthanization of my daughter’s snake, who was suffering. These gals told her to come in, took her in right away, and took care of the matter at hand, without a $700 bill attached to it. Great staff, very caring and compassionate. Highly recommend!
Expérience fantastique: The staff was excellent. Professional and friendly. They explained everything clearly and answered all my questions. Prices were mentioned when treatment options were discussed so that I was able to make appropriate decisions. My dog was treated very well. ( I have been to a vet clinic that treated him harshly). The triage was done right away. The wait time to see the vet was a bit long but our dog was not critical and there were a lot of patients. Everything was quick and efficient after that. We traveled 4 1/2 hours to get to the clinic. (We didn’t make it in time to prevent the rupture.) I was very happy to be able to get the emergency service which was not available where we live. And a clinic half that distance away wouldn’t see us because we were not one of their regular clients.
Expérience négative: Sat in the waiting room for three hours before anyone even called me up to see what the matter was. Not very good for an emergency vet. Was told it was a triage system. How would they even know how sick my pet was without seeing them for more than three hours. Not a very friendly staff or a helpful experience.
Expérience négative: I am writing this review one month after the loss of our beloved dog, because until now, I haven’t had the courage to relive the trauma. Even as I write this, I’m in tears. We brought our dog to this veterinary hospital for a major surgery, which cost us $13,000. We followed every instruction they gave us, including returning after 15 days to have the sutures removed. At that follow-up appointment, they removed the sutures WITHOUT thoroughly checking whether the incision had fully healed. Just a few hours after we brought him home, his stomach ruptured. His intestines were exposed—it was horrifying. We immediately called the hospital in a panic. They told us to bring him in, which we did without wasting a second. But even after arriving in that emergency situation, they made us wait another two hours before doing anything. They did not do anything even though it was a high emergency situation. That delay, combined with the earlier negligence, ultimately led to our dog’s death. We are devastated and heartbroken. We trusted this hospital with our dog’s life, and they failed him—at every critical moment. This experience has left us traumatized, and we hope no other family has to suffer the way we did. Please think carefully before bringing your pet here.
Expérience fantastique: Our dog was sick for awhile and had a seizure, we took to Guardian hospital and immediately took him to see a vet. Unfortunately he wasn't going to make it so we put him to sleep. Right from when we first came in the door till we left the staff and dr were amazing, so compassionate and understating! We can't thank you enough!
Expérience fantastique: Took my pup for suspected thyroid carcinoma. The staff at the clinic were amazing with my dog and explained my options. Surgery was set up the day after my consultation so I was glad for the quick turnaround. We all know that every day is precious and the quicker we can remove a cancerous tumour, the better the outcome. While the surgery is costly, I believe the care my dog received was worth it. Dr. Sathya is an amazing doctor, great bedside manner, phenomenal with my dog and it is very evident that he is an animal lover (not all vets I’ve dealt with are lol)! Such a kind doctor and I appreciated his thoughtfulness and compassion. I have nothing but great things to say about Guardian! Guardian was recommended to me by a family member and now I will be recommending Guardian for superior care
Expérience fantastique: I had to rush my dog to Guardian after she got tangled up with a porcupine on a Saturday evening. The damage was significant and she passed away on the operating table. It was a devastating loss as she had only been part of my family for a year. She was a pit-mix from Ontario, where they are restricted and was flown out to Edmonton to her forever home. Our time together was cut far too short. The staff did all they could considering the extent of her injuries. Shortly after her passing, I went to the mailbox and found a package addressed to me. It was her paw imprint with her name and collar. I was overcome with emotion; it was such a beautiful gesture and act of kindness. This happened 9 years ago and I have not forgotten the kindness and compassion that Guardian showed me in my time of loss.
Expérience fantastique: Always hard to be objective when a beloved pet is in obvious pain and distress, but both my partner and I were very impressed by the level of care and thorough attention that our cat Nelson received. When we called before arrival the answering staff was courteous and gave clear expectations about the triage process — thankfully we arrived during a moment of peace and were taken in immediately. Our attending technicians were gentle with their initial handling of Nelson and we greatly appreciated their openness and candour about difficult topics such as cost and rate of resuscitation success in cats. Despite the circumstances, it was a privilege to have Dr. Jacob attend Nelson. His compassion and affection for animals is obvious, and the level of detail he was willing to provide — especially with our many questions — showcased not only his care and professionalism, but a reassuring knowledgeability. I also know that during our appointment several other animals arrived at the hospital, and even so, the quality of our treatment did not diminish. We may have waited a little longer for the prescribed medication than had we remained the only patients, but we also had multiple liquid doses, each in individual syringes with labeling that would have required careful preparation. Nelson is responding very well, and though nothing will reverse his age or the reality of degenerative disc disease, VCA took us from fearing the worst to confidently seeing a comfortable future with our boy.
Expérience fantastique: This vet saved my cats life, other emergency vets wanted to put him down. This vet didn’t want to do that and got him on the right meds, 6 years later my cat is still living a great life thanks to these good people.
Expérience négative: TL;DR: I no longer recommend this clinic due to the lack of empathy and care displayed at my recent visit for our cat. We will go to Boreal clinic for all of our animals in the future. I hope this review may help others and encourage Guardian to evaluate their approach to emergency care. We used to take our animals to Guardian for emergency care. I hadn't been there for about two years since our dog passed away and it has changed dramatically. I brought one of our cats after her bloodwork from our regular vet indicated acute kidney failure and I was advised she needed immediate IV fluids. The tech who assessed her provided no clear information and displayed no empathy. I played her the message from our vet and she said it didn't matter because our cat's vitals were normal. I understand triage protocol and I also understand that emergency care staff are often under stress, so I accepted this but was confused and distraught. As I waited for care, our cat became increasingly agitated. She likely needed the litter box because of fluid administered earlier by our regular vet. I watched as the older front desk staff person spent time with the only other person in the waiting room, asking if her dog needed anything and bringing water. I was never asked if our cat was ok. The same staff person commented on our cat meowing like it was funny or sweet. It was the most inappropriate behaviour I've ever experienced at emergency care. I had to eventually ask for water and a litter box since no one checked in with us, and we were taken to a separate room, which I appreciated. I also appreciated the other younger front desk staff person who assisted with this. However, after two hours and no communication or check-ins, I became emotional at the from desk. I was distressed because our vet had indicated our cat was in crisis, she appeared to be declining, and I couldn't understand the lack of attention or urgency from Guardian. The older front desk staff person treated me like I was crazy - she should be sent to mandatory training in emotional intelligence and trauma-informed care or removed from front desk service. I had legitimate questions that were never answered by the intake tech. I ended up calling Boreal clinic where we had taken one of our dogs for his lung surgery. They connected me with a tech who spoke with me for 15 minutes - her advice helped me to calm down and know what to ask the vet at Guardian later. It's unreal that I had to call another clinic to get support. At the end of all this, when we finally saw the vet, I had no trust left in the clinic and opted not to leave our cat there. The vet was professional and supportive but I couldn't imagine leaving our cat and not knowing if the other staff in the clinic were actually monitoring and caring for her needs. We had subcutaneous fluids administered and she survived the night until we could get her appropriate care the next day.
Expérience fantastique: Took my dog here, as he needed urgent veterinary attention. Staff was absolutely amazing, particularly Dr. Dalk- who was so knowledgeable and informative. She made excellent recommendations, explained the logic behind the required diagnostics, and even took the time to talk with me at length on the phone during his recovery to guide me on the best things I could be doing to help my pooch. It's a moderately expensive place to go, but you are truly getting what you pay for when you go here- they didn't miss a beat.
Expérience fantastique: I want to thank the folks at Guardian for unparalleled kindness and support for us during our visit with Bella. You help to make the toughest moment bearable. Your gentle spirit was more than I expected. Thank you doesn’t seem enough and when your card arrived today it brought me to tears. Never stop caring you make a difference. Thank you again. Lance and Deb Wilson.
Expérience fantastique: Excellent emergency service by very compassionate and caring staff. We have a cat who has urinary tract issues, and needed a couple of ER visits for them, including once here. They examined him quickly, gave us some prescriptions and care instructions, and we were luckily on our way with no hospitalization needed that time. Hopefully we won't ever need any more cat ER visits, but if we do, we will definitely be coming back here.
Expérience négative: It’s been a year and the experience I still haunts me. We had a new pup that unfortunately he and his brother has a hereditary condition that was incurable. We were told our pup needed to be put asleep, so we decided to take our pup out of the clinic to spend a few hours with him, then take him to see his brother and sister before we and the other family put the 2 brother to sleep. However, while we were out, a guardian decided to call animal control and file a complaint against us during such a difficult time. We were fortunate that animal control understood our situation and agreed with us. But we never even received a follow-up call. They made an already difficult time into a nightmare!
Expérience négative: Plain and simple, this facility is out to gouge you! My dog had an emergency, $1200 to get them to look at him, quoted $6100 for the surgery and an additional 2100-3300 to keep him for two days post surgery. Poor communication between front and back staff. Will never call back when asked, their own vets recommend going to other facilities due to them being extremely over priced.
Expérience fantastique: When our elderly cat passed away at home and his regular vet was closed, Guardian went above and beyond. They provided the highest level of care, talking me through options with such compassion before he passed away on his own. When we brought him in, the team was incredibly thoughtful and caring, making a difficult moment so much easier for us. When our German Shepherd was sick, they diagnosed him right away and were very professional in explaining all the options to us. They were incredibly supportive throughout the whole process and showed the utmost respect and compassion in end-of-life care. Their kindness made an unbearable situation a little more manageable, and we will always be grateful. The team at Guardian Vet is always so kind, helpful, and professional. Their pricing is amazing for the level of service and care they provide. I can’t recommend them enough for anyone needing veterinary help, no matter the situation.
Expérience négative: Probably the worst diagnoses and treatment plan I have ever experienced for one of pets! I brought my dog in with serious discomfort, pain and bloated stomach into guardian VCA which was the closest emergency - which was 1 hr 20 minutes away. After hours of them trying to get him sedated and only performing an xray they did not treat the bloat but sent him home with still a gas filled stomach and a bottle of meds with hopes it would go down on its own without complication or twist further. And a wasted $850 bill which resulted in no answers or relief. My dog continued to progress into further pain and discomfort throughout the night and the weather turned so I was not able to make the trip into a clinic. By morning I was able to take him to another emergency where they were able to once again perform X-rays and also was able to relieve him of the built up gas (which was not present as an option at guardian) and continued to investigate the underlying issue and treat the symptom - as any respectable clinic, hospital, Doctor should. My dog is now having to have extremely risky surgery to try and resolve the issue due to this staffs incompetence and oversight It’s unfortunate there’s is no option for 0 stars Update… Based on the lack of care and oversight on this initial visit and not hospitalizing him at the beginning and running tests when it was obvious he was in distress and pain when he was still stable and healthy enough to do so - I lost him.
Expérience négative: It’s taken me a while to be able to say anything about what I experienced during the worst days of my life. I thought a vet office was supposed to help my dog, but instead the vet attendant broke my heart. It seemed as though she cared more about the money rather than my dog. She said, and I quote “I’m HAPPY to spend your money, but it won’t save your dog” We brought my girl in for pyrometra, she was very sick by time we got there, we knew the chances were bad; HOWEVER, having a vet say to my face that she’s happy to spend our money but not save my dog broke me. She was my soul dog, my precious girl. After we euthanized her, one of the hardest decisions of my life, I formally complained about the vet who made such disgusting comments. However, despite that. I will never forget the lovely blonde lady who was at the front. When she handed me back my dogs body she has tears in her eyes and said to me “here’s your baby” she was full of so much compassion and empathy. I wish that her empathy could teach the vet tech. Another problem is that this clinic is very expensive, I know animal care isn’t cheap, but 3000$ for a mri of my dogs insides that might not even help..? 500$ to resuscitate her if she died.. it feels like a money grab for hurting people. I know medicine is expensive, but the woman who looked over my dog was simply cruel, she called herself “blunt” but in what universe is that okay to say to a grieving family. Do better please. Precious deserved better.
Expérience fantastique: My cat went into labour unexpectedly, and I have no experience whatsoever. The staff was amazing over the phone and in person. They gave me all the information needed and even assisted in her first delivery. I highly recommend this place. Thank you so much guys!
Expérience fantastique: The entire staff at Guardian are amazing!! Dr. Tam and her team are wonderful and take the time to make sure you feel comfortable. Dr. Tam is an excellent vet and supported us immensely through our dog's diagnosis and subsequent treatment. I also wanted to mention the front staff, they are all amazing and so kind. Every time that we phoned for an update or came to visit they were always happy to help us. Super thankful for all of the staff here!
Expérience négative: Prior to it becoming VCA, we brought our dog in to a board-certified surgeon, and while we paid several thousand dollars, we were thrilled to get the best care available and worked off the credit card debt incurred. We were informed, sutures were neat and healing went exceptionally well. Our experiences with VCA have been awful, and we drive 50 min out of the city now for all of our vet care. It seemed with VCA (here, and Calgary trail) it was a revolving door of surgery and insurance salesmen. Every visit was calling for dental, and each visit we left with a stack of estimates. We came in one evening (8-ish) with a sick dog. We waited for hours in a large lobby with a couple other wailing dogs and cats—only to be told “hard to say”. “If only they could talk, and tell us what’s wrong!” -So it’s free then? “Oh no, it’s still money.” It was! I think the staff were quite courteous, I commend anyone who’ll be ready to care for an animal. Just feels like VCA is turning the whole industry super greedy. People will do anything to relieve a suffering animal, and VCA is there with a debit machine when you do. Payment plans available! (But please don’t!)
Expérience négative: One of the worse places I have ever been too. Took my animal in to get looked at only to get harassed into keeping it over night for a outrageous amount. They went as far as drugging my pet up on pain meds in order to make it look extremely sick when it never was like that when I brought it in. They did no tests, and kept telling me it would die that night. Plus when I told them i wanted to take it home and get a second opinion, they threatened me with SPCA. I will never go back to this place.
Expérience fantastique: It’s taken me a long time to get to the point where I can write this. I can’t thank the staff at Guardian enough for the incredible care and support they provided during one of the most difficult moments of my life. Saying goodbye to my 17 year old baby, Ringo, was never how I imagined it, but the compassion and empathy shown by everyone there made all the difference. From the moment we walked in, they treated both of us with so much respect and understanding, gently guiding me through every step of the process. Their kindness and patience went above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. I will always be grateful for the way they honored Ringo and supported me in that heartbreaking time. Mikaela and the front office staff, you were so gentle and understanding with caring for him and me during that process. You answered all the questions I forgot to ask after I left and needed to call. When I received his remains I was shocked by the paw prints and the hair clippings… I didn’t even think about at the time when you asked me about him… I just told you every part of him was perfect, and you understood and went above an beyond my expectations. Dr. Jake I won’t ever forget how you held me together when my world was falling apart. You helped me be strong for Ringo in his final moments. There’s no words that can express this, but I am forever grateful to you.
Expérience fantastique: I have taken 3 of my cats here. We had to unfortunately put 2 to sleep. However, the staff was incredible. They didn't rush us out of the room. They gave us lots of time to say goodbye. Our 3rd was is 6 weeks old (we rescued her at 2 weeks) she was having some issues, so we took her in. They again were incredible. They made us feel comfortable and at ease while we were there. They were so very gentle with our baby, and checked her thoroughly. They gave us some great advice and we were comfortable leaving to take her home. I've told many people about this place and will continue to do so. Thank you very much for helping my babies.
Expérience négative: I didn’t realize how badly they messed up until I took my pup to another clinic with the same emergency (puppy ate chocolate). This place had me sit and wait and after 30 minute I asked if they weren’t going to induce vomiting? They had clearly forgotten and they rushed her in. My 7 lb pup ate 50 GRAMS of dark chocolate so now I see she was probably dangerously toxic because of this wait. I ended up in there for like 7 hours while they monitored her. I was not allowed to see her despite my ability to keep her calm They charged $350 or so, then told me I could keep her overnight for an extra $1500. When I declined they offered a charcoal round for an extra $500. Tonight I took her to Century Park emerg after she ate 2.5 grams of powder and they rushed her in to induce vomiting before I had even filled the forms out. Everything was explained and charcoal was sent home. We sat with our pup the whole time, the intravenous was administered NOT as an additional upgrade. I will never come back, I think they almost killed her with their lack of immediately Edit to respond to owner; I would appreciate a conversation around this. The other clinic I went to did the charcoal and IV without incurring an extra cost. Your vet told me it would be an extra $500+. I feel that your clinic is practicing unsafe treatment and it deserves more than a token comment on my google review. Century Park clinic even followed up with me the next day to check on my dogs health. Your vet was rude and dismissive and it definitely felt like a cash grab. I wish I could give you negative stats. I hope this review prevents people from entrusting their sick pets to you and they go to Century Park instead
Dear Shauna,
We are very sorry to hear about your recent experience and the distress it caused both you and your puppy. Situations like chocolate toxicity are emergencies that require immediate attention, and we regret that you felt our care did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your feedback as this situation is deeply concerning to us. We understand the importance of feeling reassured and informed during situations like these, and we apologize if there was a delay or lack of communiction on our part.
We will be reviewing this case internally to ensure that our emergency procedures are handled with utmost urgency in the future.
We are relieved to hear that your pup received the care she needed. If you would be willing, we would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further with you to better understand what went wrong.
Please feel free to reach out to us at any time!
Thank you
Guardian Veterinary Centre
Expérience fantastique: Dr. Sereda operated on my dog Onyx when he broke his femur two weeks ago. The doctor got him in for surgery the same day as the referral. The doctor has been very responsive to our concerns and questions. Onyx is healing wonderfully. We are so grateful!!
Expérience fantastique: We had to bring our geriatric dog in after an expected but an acute sudden decline in his medical condition on a weekend when our town has no emergency veterinary support. From the initial call we made as we drove in to the support we received from the staff while we said goodbye to our cherished family member was a blessing in a very difficult time for us. Dr Narbonne carefully explained how the euthanasia process would work and what it might look like to make us comfortable throughout the process. They never made us feel rushed in saying goodbye and gave us much needed private time with him afterwards when he was finally at peace. Thank you for your compassion and professionalism. It means a lot to us pet owners in those difficult moments.
Expérience fantastique: I recently brought my rescue dog, who has fear-based aggression to VCA, and I couldn't be more impressed with their care! The staff was incredibly accommodating and patient, taking extra time to ensure my dog felt as comfortable as possible and take the least invasive course of action. Their gentle approach made all the difference for my reactive dog! They went above and beyond to create a calm environment, making a high stress visit much less stressful for the both of us. Thank you VCA!
Expérience positive: I waited a few weeks after the death of my beloved cat because I wanted to give a fair review without raw emotion coloring it. I brought my cat in with what turned out to be heart failure on July 25. If I was only reviewing the vet who provided care and Tasha I would have given 5 stars. I am so grateful to the wonderful vet who tried hard to save his life, and tried to extend his life long enough for me to say goodbye. She was knowledgeable, helpful and tactful in dealing with grieving families. I also commend Tasha at the front desk who was supportive, kind and understanding. Tasha offered words of comfort when the vet explained he might not make it and tactfully offered tissues when I went to see my boy alive for the final time. The missing 2 stars are because the other 2 ladies at the front desk were completely lacking in any sort of compassion or kindness after I lost him so suddenly. It costs nothing to say “I’m sorry for your loss” instead of simply coming into the room where a grieving family is crying with cremation options and no compassionate words to preface it, no tissues, nothing. We had a more neutral party in the room with us when this happened and even they agreed that the 2 other ladies at the front desk, (especially the one that entered the room to offer options) were sorely lacking in bedside manner. I sincerely hope that management considers providing the front desk staff (minus Tasha who was excellent) with some much needed training on how to convey empathy instead of speaking to newly grieving families brusquely, and the value of the words “I’m sorry for your loss” or a box of tissues, especially before breaking out the post-death sales brochures. I have lost pets at the vet before and have never received such tactless treatment from front desk staff who should have some idea of how to deal with grieving families in this line of work.
Expérience positive: So I am writing a formal review pros and cons, so on the date of July * 2024 Mako, my dog was rushed from two hours away to this vet clinic, I was very grateful for their immediate action. They took him right away we started with some IV and pain medication, he had suffered from severe heat stroke. They took them in and I sat in the waiting room for about an hour, within that time we briefly discussed options. All was fine until a bill of 3900$ came for only one day of treatment, without knowing if hydration would even help him. He stayed the night and I expensed 1500$ for the night, for IV and pain medication. After stating that before I went and expensed the bill of 3900$, I would then have a interaction with one veterinarian in particular who explained to me his entire treatment was going to cost roughly 8700$ and making me feel as if I didn’t cough out the money and if I was in “her shoe's" . For four days of treatment. I had called around to another veterinary clinic by the name of Mercy Animal Hospital on the north side, I explained my situation and they said to bring him, my total bill for the same treatment totaled 1800$, so to do the math this other vet could do the same work for 70%, as well as two free checkups Mako is now fine and thriving , only three days after. Now to come to my conclusion, the moment I resented paying such a high bill I got to see a side of the vet clinic that doesn’t do it for the love of animals, they do it for the paycheque. Because if that was not the case, this other clinic would have charged the same! I and very dissapointed I had been pressured into feeling the need to speak up and inform her that money expense was not the issue. And remind her why she chose this profession, because after she said its either that or you just put him down, not even giving it four hours! Again thankful to have him taken, not impressed with the lack of sympathy as well as the 6000$ difference.
Expérience fantastique: I recently moved from Vancouver to Edmonton with my two dogs and a cat. Unfortunately, one of my dogs had cancer, and her condition worsened here. I found this hospital where they treated my dog with such respect and compassion, and they supported me in making the difficult decision to let her go so she wouldn’t suffer anymore. I am deeply grateful for all the support they provided and continue to provide. Without a doubt, this is my preferred hospital for my two remaining furry babies. Thank you for the support provided and the respect you showed to my baby girl.
Expérience fantastique: My husband and I would like to thank Dr. Sathya, as well as the rest of the team at Guardian for the care and compassion they showed us and our dog, Kimchi. Kimchi was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 10 and was a patient of Dr. Sathya's over the past 2 years. He was always kind, honest, and realistic. Thanks to his care, our girl was able to enjoy her final years in comfort. Sadly, we had to bring Kimchi in for an emergency, which ended up being the day we had to say goodbye. I don't recall the name of the vet who helped us that day, but she was incredibly sympathetic, gentle, and understanding. The entire team was so kind, thoughtful, and compassionate - I truly couldn't have better things to say about Guardian VCA. Thank you again for your patience, kindness, and the wonderful care you provided our sweet girl over the years.
Expérience fantastique: I bought my senior cat in today, and ultimately he needed to be put down. I'm sorry i don't remember the names of the wonderful receptionist, technicians and doctor who helped me, and provided comfort to my cat as well as myself during an extremely emotional and difficult time. Thank you for your compassion and care, for both my self and my cat. Thank you for being so kind. <3
Expérience fantastique: First and foremost, I have had dogs for 14 years and have interacted with numerous veterinarians, including emergency vets. Among all of them, this particular veterinary clinic stands out as one of the best I have encountered in a long time. They provided exceptional service and assistance in caring for my puppy, Luna. I was quite anxious and stressed, but the staff managed to calm me down and alleviate my worries. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the entire staff for their remarkable work. Keep up the excellent service!
Expérience fantastique: Just went through the biggest Rollercoaster of my life the last 5 days... I brought my cat in and he had an obstructed bladder (his name is Tarot if anyone there remembers him). Tarot had gone through the ringer and long story short, we were all preparing to have him euthanized because i didnt want him to suffer..... shortly after I filled out that paperwork, one of the vet techs that worked tirelessly on my boy came in and told me that she had cleared some of the obstruction and he was able to urinate a bit.... she saved my boy.... like a guardian angel.... I've been a mess ever since making sure he's taken care of. Since being released last night he's not only peeing on his own multiple times a day without surgery or further interventions.... he's also playing and he almost seems like his old self despite all the meds he's on. We are far from out of the woods but I can not thank the staff here for everything they did and to the specific vet tech (I can't remember her name) for walking in and saving him literally minutes before I had to say goodbye to my only 2.5 year old cat.... thank you, thank you, thank you. My boy has a chance at a full life now and I can't help but feel like if anything had gone different, if I had waited another 24 hours to bring him on, or if I had gone to another clinic, that he would not be here now. I truly hope the staff here reads this review and know how truly amazing they were
Expérience négative: Great up front staff and post surgery vet tech. Surgeon Sathya is a super nice guy, remembers your name, pets name, etc. BUT after two surgeries and a dog that has not healed and lives in what seems to be chronic pain, can't walk properly and only very short distance if we can get her out. As a dog lover I feel horrible for what I did to her, she's just not the same, nor will be again. If you need surgery go somewheres else. It feels like they just rush through as many as they can and therefore quality suffers. (Your pet suffers)
Expérience fantastique: In an emergency, we were faced with the most difficult decision to put our dog down. The staff were caring and compassionate, giving us everything we needed to make the most painful decision as "easy" as possible. Thank you for that!
Expérience fantastique: This is a wonderful clinic with a wonderful staff. I had an emergency with my cat on the Sunday before Canada Day and everyone, from the front staff, the techs and the vet, everyone was wonderful and supportive. It really shows they care about the animals and are conscious of how scary it is for owners. Would recommend 10000/10. (Edit to add pic)
Expérience fantastique: I just wanted to come on here and say that this was the best experience I’ve had with a vet & clinic staff. We brought our dog, Rex here for an emergency on Friday. We were taken in right away and the front desk staff and vet tech that came to assess him explained everything very thoroughly, while being kind and patient with us. He unfortunately had to be put to sleep and that was the hardest decision we had to make as pet owners, but everyone there who helped us was nothing short of amazing. We got to spend as much time as we wanted with him, we never once felt rushed or like we were inconveniencing them while taking our time to make a decision. The girl working at the front desk was super helpful in assisting us with picking out memorial displays, the Vet was so compassionate and honest when giving us information and a prognosis on his condition, which was very much appreciated. Thank you all for making one of our hardest days a little more bearable with your kindness and compassion.
Expérience négative: I would never in my life take my animal here again my puppy has been here 2times for the same issue and all they want is your money charged me 3 times the amount that pulse charges for the same thing 1900$ first one 2300$ second one 450 at a normal vet then 600$ at pulse all for the same surgery so please double think of going there They could have easily tested my puppy for A parasite, but they did not all they wanted was to double charge me every time I went in there. It was an easy fix at the beginning.
Expérience fantastique: Brought my Sheppard in yesterday, old girls stomach twisted and ended up needing to be euthanized. They were incredible, compassionate, walked me through every step, talked to me during the entire process. They made a terrible evening bearable with their compassion and care, so thank you everyone working there.
Expérience positive: We had a great experience here. Our 8 month old puppy was referred by our regular vet for an OCD lesion. Dr. Colin and the staff were very kind and caring and took great care of our dog as he had to stay overnight. The only reason I did not put 5 stars was we felt the discharge nurse wasn’t the friendliest. She seemed to be frustrated with my dog being a bit stubborn and not wanting to move after his shoulder surgery. Otherwise highly recommend this clinic!
Expérience fantastique: We have a young cat that fell 30' and was barely breathing (and quite flat!) when we brought her in. This is a situation where out cat recovered pretty much on her own but the reason for my 5 star review is simply because the Doc and staff were reasonable. They didn't recommend a bunch of unecessary tests or x-rays. The were were very practical and patient to see how she would recover first. Gave us a few pain meds for her and sent us on our way with reassurance and instruction on what to be on the look out for. Thanks very much to all who looked after our little Pete the cat!
