Hamilton Road Animal Hospital: Reviews

Positive experience: At least one of the vets is quite comfortable with rabbits and birds. They are willing and able to help with initial diagnostics and stabilization of exotic pets but may refer elsewhere for complex cases. The staff were all very kind.

Cam Miller Posted on Google 2 months ago

Negative experience: Medical care was adequate, however they thought it appropriate to charge 2000 dollars for a dew claw removal.

Negative experience: I brought my cat here recently and it felt very rushed despite making an appointment and there being nobody else there with a pet. The doctor were rude to their female assistant and spoke down to her. I felt they were mostly looking for how much they can charge a customer instead of actually looking at the problem I was there for. My next pet problem will be done through a different vet. Someone who respects their staff, customer, and the pet.

Fantastic experience: The vets and staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Pricing is comparable to most vets. Open 7 days and some evenings. 10/10 would recommend this Vet.

Negative experience: Honestly, even 1 star for this establishment was far too generous. We took our cat in for an emergency visit, at no point did they actually verify my information, just that it was the cat on file. The vet tech, did not take his temperature, did not check his heart rate or any of his other vitals, but entered everything in as normal (also very foolishly left the computer unlocked and open with our pet info up on the screen but fully accessible). While we were waiting we were subjected to listening to the extremely rude woman working in the clinic, rude to people in the office and on the phone!! When the vet finally came in, he reviewed what was written from the original vet tech, asked a few questions, but at no point in time did he actually touch our cat. We had taken him in as he had a rather substantial limp that was concerning given he is a 12 year old cat. Did not look at his paws, still no temp check, but was fully ready to hand me a quote for over $2000!! During our wait, we had let our cat out of the carrier, after the vet came in, the rude female tech came into the room, our cat was in front of the door, curious, and instead of moving him gently, she kicked him out of the way. When I confronted her about it, she thought she should demonstrate on my leg what she had done. When see asked if we needed her to pick him up, I told her not to touch our cat, her response was to leave the room and slam the door behind her. We attempted several times to have an open and honest discussion with the vet about our cat and what could be the issue, he refused to discuss without the barrage of tests he had originally quoted, every time we tried to speak he would interrupt and continue not to listen to our concerns or answer our questions. We decided to start with something simple, and ultimately left with a medication. Once in the car, we realized that they had charged us for 2 different medications, so we had to go back in to inquire, they played it off like it was a mistake that they had forgotten to take it off the bill because they were out of stock, which is strange since we had only agreed to one medication, and it was not the one we got, instead they gave our cat a supplement. Honestly, steer clear of this place, I am not entirely certain they are qualified. Your response is a clear indication of how much you didn't listen. Train you staff to be better, hire staff with competence and compassion and focus on the care of animals not lining your pockets.

Negative experience: I initially brought my dog here because of an emergency, and they were the only place open other than the emergency clinic. While they did help my dog on multiple occasions, the pricing always seemed more than expected, and while several of the employees were very helpful and kind (even if there was a language barrier) Dr. Rupi always gave me the impression he didnt really care about animals in general, and it was all about money. I foolishly kept bringing my dog here because of the long hours I work. I finally took him to Banner road in Thamesford where they were able to diagnose his issues and give my dog some comfort in his final days. I recently went back to this vet to return his unopened food, and pick up a cheque for a test they charged me for but never actually did. (The only way I found this out was because my new vet requested the results from them, which they didnt have.) They never even asked about why I was returning food, or offered their condolences if they already understood why I was bringing it back. My entire experience here just leaves me feeling guilty for not figuring out what was wrong with my boy sooner, which I would have done more extensive testing had the pricing been more reasonable. The outcome might not have changed but maybe proper treatment might have given me even a few more months with him, which at this point I would give anything for. Stay away from this vet, I honestly feel like his medical license wasn't accepted in ontario so he became a vet instead. He does not care about your pet, just your money.

Negative experience: The worst vet in the world after doing surgery on my daughter's cat she's now worse than when my daughter took her in. Charged her over $3000. Added food to the bill whe none was given to her and charged her for taking stitches out that were supposed to be included.

Fantastic experience: The team at Hamilton Road has been consistently accommodating to us and our two dogs over the years. While they are not our primary veterinary clinic, their extended hours have proven invaluable during several urgent situations we have faced. Most recently, they assisted in diagnosing our dog Thor’s terminal cancer, a process they handled with genuine compassion while providing clear, direct, and informative guidance. They have always been mindful of our budget, and I find their pricing to be fair and reasonable compared to other veterinary clinics in London, particularly in emergency situations. I would recommend this vet clinic to others.

Fantastic experience: Saved my animal's lives more than once. This vet knows what he's doing, especially with exotics. 1. My Bunny I had a 2 month old rabbit that unfortunately got underneath my recliner couch and cut her side open on the framing underneath. I called this vet on a Sunday morning before they were even open for the day, and when I told them the situation they told me to bring her in ASAP. The vet was pulling into the parking lot the same time as me when I got there, which showed me he went out of his way for me. My bunny was cut very deeply and essentially gutted herself, he immediately took her to the back and began operating on her for me. A couple hours later she was all stitched up and ready to go home with meds. She would've died if not for their help, even if I tried to drive to the emergency vet in Guelph she would've died on the way. I cannot thank them enough for saving her and the 6+ months of follow up appointments and aftercare provided. I'd also like to note that prior to her I had a 12 year old rabbit, and he took very good care of that bun as well. I have seen many vets with my rabbits over the years, and this hospital clearly knows what they're doing. 2. My Cat My cat was vomiting violently 12+ times in a single day, just my luck on a holiday. We took her to the emergency clinic and $2000 later all they did was give her an anti-nausea med, they did not get to the bottom of why she was vomiting. I took her to east middlesex animal hospital next, another $1000 and a basic blood panel later, still no answers and just anti-nausea meds. Even on the anti-nausea med, she continued to vomit. We took her to Hamilton Road and upon reviewing the blood panel already done, it apparently didn't check everything in depth. We did another, more thorough, blood test through Hamilton road and discovered she had hypothyroidism. This diagnosis was spot on and her medicated food that I buy routinely from Hamilton Road has worked great until I can afford more long term treatment for her. I've now moved out of London and will not be able to take my animals to this vet anymore, otherwise I'd continue with them. I cannot recommend them enough; knowledgeable, fair priced, flexible hours (seriously why do so many other vets close before most people are off work???), and caring to your animals.

Negative experience: I have a bunny that was extremely unwell. My normal vet wasn’t open so I brought him here out of desperation because I thought he was dying from being so sick. What seemed extremely helpful at first I realized was not and actually hurt my bunny in the end. When we arrived they took him in right away. There was definitely something wrong. They checked his teeth and said they were very long and needed filling ($600 or so). They suggested taking a sample of blood and poop to see if there was anything else wrong. Overall my visit (without the filing) was around $700 and we were sent home with the suggestion of increasing his calorie intake to help him gain weight again. We got his blood results the next day and confirmed there is definitely a problem. Two days later he was getting worse and now he’s limping his back leg where the sample was taken. I don’t know why it didn’t dawn on me to ask about medication so I’m kicking myself for not thinking of it. I manage to get him in to my original vet and have him looked over again. I trust my vet. I have been going to them for years and they are extremely competent when it comes to bunnies and his findings were shocking. Not only were his teeth fine, but if we were to get them filed like this place suggested he would have had to be put under and he would not have survived in the state that he was in. On top of that, with the blood results being so horrible my vet wanted another sample because if they were as bad as they were showing we had an extremely sick bunny on our hands and things were not making sense. When they brought him back to the room they said they found a huge scab on his leg from where the previous sample taken, which puts the idea in my head that he was mistreated here. My vet said they couldn’t get a sample because his veins were so thin, furthering my belief that something was done to him to get the initial sample to begin with. We were sent home this time with medication and subcutaneous fluids. These two things made a world of difference. He perked right up and was eating like he had never tasted food before. Fast forward a few weeks: he’s doing great. He’s gained weight, his bloodwork is almost back to normal and he’s on a dose of antibiotics. No bad teeth. So, my experience with this vet was horrible. It could have cost my bunny his life. I spent $700 for what feels like no reason. We didn’t walk out with a plan on how to help him other than give him more food. No medication, no fluids given. He very well could have died if he was put under like suggested to file his teeth. On top of that, he still has a large scab on his leg and I’m horrified thinking what could have caused this to begin with. My vet tried in four different areas to get a sample, not one of them left a mark. What the hell could have happened here that caused him have a scab and is left limping. My heart breaks for him and I feel like I’ve failed in taking care of my baby.

> When your bunny was brought in as an emergency, our team acted promptly based on the clinical signs observed at the time. Rabbits can decline very rapidly, and early diagnostic testing is often necessary to assess potentially life-threatening conditions. The recommendations provided during that visit were made according to the findings and the information available at that moment.

> Dental assessment and blood testing are standard components of evaluating weight loss and systemic illness in rabbits. The treatment approach taken by your regular veterinarian at a later stage may understandably differ as your bunny’s condition evolved, and we are very pleased to hear that he is now doing much better.

Negative experience: Took my cat in when he had a bladder infection. They wanted $3500 for tests. Either that or put him down. I took him the EVAH. They did it for $1600 and fixed him. A few days later, they call and ask how much I paid at the other vets. They only care about money, nothing else.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are truly sorry that this situation caused you so much distress — that is never the experience we want for any client or patient.

When you brought your cat to us with a serious urinary condition, we provided an estimate based on the diagnostics and level of care that we believed were medically appropriate at that time. Different facilities may recommend different diagnostic approaches, and in some situations certain tests may be modified or deferred depending on your financial circumstances compromising health care. Our pricing reflects the level of care, equipment, staffing, and medical standards we maintain in order to provide thorough and safe treatment, and we strive to keep our fees fair and reasonable within our community.

What matters most is that your cat ultimately received the treatment he needed and is now doing well, and we are genuinely glad to hear that.

If any part of our communication felt rushed, pressured, or insufficiently compassionate, we sincerely apologize. Your feedback is taken seriously and will be used to improve how we discuss treatment options and financial concerns with our clients in the future.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

Negative experience: A coupe of years ago I brought my dog Amy to this clinic. After a quick assessment, the vet spent 30 seconds looking at my dog and told me to leave. I had to put her down the next day after taking her to a real vet that had the courage tell me what was happening. Today, on the anniversary of her death, I recieved an email from them telling Amy happy birthday. This is the worst vet I've ever been too.

Negative experience: Be sure you ask the cost before you let them touch your pet. They just gouged me for $650 for a dang ear yeast infection!! They swarmed over my dog so fast and never asked me what I wanted to to then presented me with a bill. I can't pay my rent this month thanks to this place.

Negative experience: I will NEVER go to this vet again. 1. Unacceptable Prices The cost of services is unreasonably high. After reading other reviews, it seems that being “unaffordable” is a common theme with this clinic. No matter how minor the issue is, you walk out with a bill close to $1,000 or more. The pricing feels excessive and unjustified. 2. Rude Customer Service When I received the invoice, the staff member rushed me to pay immediately, saying, “We are very busy and have to see other patients.” I wasn’t given any time to review the charges or ask questions. The interaction was dismissive and rude. Based on other reviews, this seems to be a recurring issue — it feels like a deliberate tactic to pressure clients into quick payments.

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns. We understand how stressful unexpected veterinary visits and costs can be, especially when a pet is unwell.

Our clinic’s priority is always to provide the highest standard of medical care and transparency. Treatment plans and estimates are always discussed before any procedure or service is performed, and clients are encouraged to ask questions or decline recommendations if they wish. Prices can vary depending on the complexity and urgency of the pet’s condition, diagnostic needs, and medications required.

We also regret if you felt rushed or dismissed during your visit — that is never the experience we want for our clients. We will review this internally with our team to ensure that every client is given the time and respect they deserve, even during busy periods.

Please feel free to contact the clinic directly so we can address your concerns in more detail and restore your confidence in our care.

Thank you for your feedback.

Fantastic experience: It’s honestly hard to believe some of the negative reviews, because our experience with Hamilton Road Animal Hospital was nothing short of incredible. Our sweet dog was hit by a car, and we weren’t sure if she was going to make it. We called on our way to the hospital, and the staff were ready to receive her the moment we arrived. Emotions were running high, but the vets moved quickly, doing everything they could to stabilize her and keep her with us. I understand that vet care can be expensive, but in our case, every dollar we spent felt absolutely worth it for the level of service, care, and compassion our dog received. The team was kind and patient, taking the time to explain everything to us, and they even did an x-ray free of charge to make sure she was safe to go home. We were deeply grateful for their thorough testing, their kindness, and the fact that they saved our sweet girl’s life. They also scheduled a free follow-up 48 hours later and were genuinely happy to see how well she was doing. Thank you to the entire team for guiding us through such a traumatic experience with so much empathy and professionalism. We’ll always be grateful.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate your feedback. Our team always aims to provide compassionate, thorough care and clear communication for every pet and owner.

Please note that we are not a mobile or phone consultation service — proper assessment and treatment require seeing your pet in person to ensure safe and accurate care. Our recommendation to bring your puppy in was made with your pet’s best interest in mind.

That said, it’s never our intention to come across as rude or dismissive, and we’re sorry if that was your impression. We’d be happy to discuss this further and address your concerns directly.

Negative experience: I'd like to start with I've been a client and referring clients to Hamilton Road for a couple years. I knew they were pushy as complained about in previous reviews but aside from that had no issue.. That was until yesterday. I took my dog in for a neuter. He was healthy, happy, and bouncy. They called saying they were starting, they called to say they were done with no issues, and then they called an hour later to say my dog could not move his hind quarters. I was devastated. They said they'd run tests - as well they should - and let me know. With no answers in house he was sent to Guelph where they reviewed his case and checked him over again. As of now no one can tell me what happened or how... All I know is I had to drive my two children to Guelph at 9pm at night to say goodbye to their beloved pet because the specialist said he would never recover. He'd never live a full life even if he did survive and improve over multiple surgeries... We did what we felt was best for our boy. Our baby boy has crossed over the rainbow road because I trusted these people to do a routine procedure. I urge others to listen to my experience and really absorb what happened. I trusted these vets to care for my dog. Trusted them to deliver answers... To care that while in their custody something happened that paralyzed my dog from the waist down. UPDATE May 19th, 2018 As I can not reply to the owners comment I will give an update here. Our boys autopsy is not back. The vet has no way to know with the confidence he has that our dog had a pre-existing condition. This reply shows - as does his others - that accountability and compassion severely lack with this office. 1000s of procedures or not... That does not change this particular outcome. Please, please, existing clients and inquiring new ones... Really read into the tone in which this man puts out to complaints and concerns. Our baby is gone and we do not feel this Vet cares for our loss under his care. His demeanor has not been sympathetic to us or our heart wrenching loss but completely defensive. I only hope these reviews and updates help save someone heartache and frustration.

We are extremely sorry for your loss and we took him to even Ontario Veterinary College to see Neurologist. His case was discussed with several surgeons specialists, radiologist and neurologist, he had guard prognosis . He had pre existing multi focal spinal cord disease . I have done thousands of procedures in my life with no neurological complications, but surgeries/anesthesia always have risk .we feel your pain and even I did stay with your pet until 11 PM at Ontario Veterinary College , University of Guelph. Once again , we are sorry for you loss .

Negative experience: 1. Unreasonable prices!- they will really push you to get unneccesary lab tests. Make sure you refuse and only get the ones that are absolutely neccessary. 2. Very pushy to spend $$$$. Especially the cremation services. They must make a lot of money from this because they are very pushy.. my dog wasnt even dead yet and they asked maybe 3-5x to make a decision about the cremation and choosing the urn. 3. It was very difficult to understand due to mumbling and heavy accent which makes it very difficult when trying to listen to, and comprehend life and death info about your beloved family pet 4. To the owner: If you or your staff are sick then stay home!! I Witnessed 5 different employees, young Spanish looking girl with dark hair, a vet! And 3 other staff members wiping their nose, touching their mouth, coughing into their hands.. and no handwashing in sight!! Absolutely disgusting levels of professionalism and personal hygiene for a healthcare facility! The vet also had horrible breath and I often had to take a few steps back so that I dont gag 5. There was an employee who was playing some shooting games on his laptop where people can clearly see. Play your games at home! No one wants to see that. 6. The tall Vet with big oversized glassess seems rude and has 0 compassion.

Sorry to hear as we are unable to track you in our system.
We are very sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback. We take all concerns seriously and would like to address a few of the points raised:

Regarding costs and lab tests:
Our doctors recommend diagnostic tests based solely on each pet’s medical condition and clinical findings. Clients are always informed about which tests are recommended and why, and we respect each client’s decision on how they wish to proceed.

About cremation services:
We understand how difficult it is to make decisions during end-of-life care. Our staff offers cremation options early only to ensure families have time to consider them before emotions make it harder to decide. We are sincerely sorry if this came across as pushy — that was never our intent.

Communication concerns:
We strive to ensure every client fully understands their pet’s condition and treatment plan. We regret if communication was unclear and will reinforce with our team the importance of speaking slowly and confirming understanding during sensitive discussions.

Hygiene and professionalism:
Cleanliness and infection control are top priorities in our hospital. Your description is concerning and does not reflect our standards. We will be reviewing our clinic’s hygiene and handwashing protocols with all team members immediately.

Staff behavior:
We do not permit personal computer use or gaming during work hours.

Staff demeanor:
We regret that you felt any of our team members were rude. Compassion and empathy are core to our values, and we will use your feedback to further train our staff in client communication and bedside manner.

We sincerely apologize that your experience did not reflect the level of care we strive to provide. If you would like to discuss this further or share more details privately, please contact our management team at [insert clinic email or phone number]. We would appreciate the opportunity to make things right.

Negative experience: I have had the most appalling experience at this place on October 5 2025! Not only did everyone at this clinic have zero compassion for someone saying goodbye to their beloved pet, they make it very obvious that its all about the money with their unnecessary tests and charges and anything they can add to the invoice that they can think of!!! My baby was euthanized and while i was saying goodbye I heard loud conversation and laughter in the reception area and one of the vets came in to discuss the invoice with me when i was in tears and hysterical! They carried her out for sedation with her head hanging like a rag doll and it's a scene i will never UNSEE in my mind! The lack of compassion is ASTOUNDING!!!! Customers are just dollar bills in this place!!! No one offered me any words of condolences or showed any sort of compassion and it was just business as usual tone. The vets are both very quick to go through the invoice and barely explain what each charge is and are hard to understand to begin with because of the very heavy accent. We were shown an X-ray that had someone else's name on it and were assured that it was for my dog!! They also tried to add a different fee for blood work when a different fee was previously discussed! If I could turn back time and take my baby elsewhere so she could have been at least treated more humanly for her last few breaths of life and not treated like a piece of trash that didn't matter!!! I WILL NEVER EVER return to this place and I am so regretful for bringing my baby here to die!!! Its all about the $$$ and zero compassion!!!!!

Negative experience: Please, I am begging you take your animals somewhere else this place cost me $2000 just for looking at my cat. I would not have got it done by my wife. Want something done immediately she’s in pain. She can’t go to the bathroom each x-ray cost $400 each there was two of them and toll $2000 later I am absolutely appalled at it thank you Me and my wife had to take her cat in and we took it to this place Hamilton Road animal Hospital okay now this cat is 11 or 12 years old we found we went in there and before they even started checking her over they started making up a Bill quote they were kind of walking back-and-forth because the cat had a problem of peeing and going in the bathroom my wife is worried so he told him to go ahead so for them to check over and give her two x-rays which they had there a wind up costing us $2000 I mean, I almost fell off my chair. I thought you’re not there for the animals. They’re therefore what they get off the person. I’m sorry but this was absolutely unbelievably disgusting. $400 per x-ray so if I was anybody please I’d avoid this place. They are absolutely the worst I’ve ever seen. Just go somewhere else never go back there again absolutely never.

Fantastic experience: When I first got my dog, there were no veterinary clinics that were accepting new patients. Hamilton road animal hospital got my dog an appointment almost immediately and I have only trusted them since. Great service and reasonable prices

Positive experience: They were very gracious in caring for my cat when he was sick. I was very a taken back when they gave me such a high bill. My cat is getting better but I'm still concerned about his digestion. I felt like I was not given an option on what services they should provide. They did not discuss this with me or offer options. The bill was $1200 more than I could manage. I do not feel that the xray or blood work was necessary for such a young cat.

Fantastic experience: Best and most caring people who are here to help your animals! Dr rupi and all the staff here do everything they can to make sure your animals are taken care of! They care about your animals on a personal level and just want the best care for them! Animals can't talk so it can take alot to find the cause of problems but I can absolutely say it's not all about the money. The cost is part of having a vet that has the PROPER EQUIPMENT and training to give your animals the best care! I can't thank everyone here enough for what they have done for all my animals!

Fantastic experience: I have always had professional and compassionate support at hamilton road, they helped my dog Aurum when another vet removed broken teeth and left the roots to rot in his gums Hamilton road had the dental X-ray to help him, they were compassionate when my poor husband had to take my border collie in who had had a brain tumor and gave him pain medication so he could be euthanized comfortably at home, and they have been so caring with our pup cedar as we try and solve her mystery illness. They are always up front about costs and why they run the tests they do. The vet tech lady who works most morning with the glasses is my absolute favourite person there, she is always so sweet and kind when I come in distraught and handles my dogs with the same love that we do. Keep up the good work guys

Negative experience: I'd just like to let people know that those who work at Hamilton Road Animal "hospital" would stand by and watch an animal die until someone starting filling their hands with money! At least that's what the receptionist just finished telling me 5 minutes ago on the phone after I offered to make payments to save my cats life. I gotta give em......A MILLION THUMBS DOWN! How does a vet NOT care about animals. You should be a BANK!

Wolf in the Wilds Survival Posted on Google 8 months ago

Negative experience: Ridiculously over priced and not very bright. Why would you give a dog throwing up gall stones an anti-nauseate? Your unnecessary testing and over priced medications tells me you care about grifting as much money as you can from worried animal owners and nothing at all about the best treatment for the animal. I hope karma comes calling on you.

Negative experience: Went to pick up lysine for my cat from them. Normally I go to another vet but decided to try these guys out since they are closer to home. My regular vet charges $38 per tube. These guys tried to charge me $72 for the same thing. That’s just plain stealing from people. Avoid this vet at all costs Edit: To reply to their reply below it was the exact same size that I always buy. I have been buying for 3 years. Nice try though. Photo added for clarity. Tubes only come in one size. Edit #2: After doing some research the price you have this listed at is illegal and I have reported you the the college of veterinarians of ontario.

Fantastic experience: It was over the long holiday weekend We were at our rv campsite when our precious Pepper(black German shepherd) took very ill. We headed out with our Pepper to find a Vet who would answer their phone. On the 401 heading toward London with me using my phone and hubby driving we went in search. I rang several places only to get robots. Finally I found a number and rang. A human answered and told me to bring Pepper immediately. Sadly Pepper passed away just a couple blocks from our destination. I am sorry to say I do not have names but we were greeted with the most sincerest of sympathy.

Negative experience: Had a very poor experience here. My cat was sick and not many places were available for him to go. We assumed it was due to him getting into our kittens kitten food which it was. We took him there and he showed me a bunch of testing they wanted to do. I didn't agree to all the tests as it was well over $2000 and just said I'd like to do the one for now. However, he did both and charged me an insane amount. He then told me my cat has diabetes and has to be put on insulin shots the rest of his life. However, we had to push back and say can't we wait and see if his levels comes down with the cat food out of his system and on better cat food? We did that and it ended up being normal levels but if we didn't push back our cat would have been immediately put on shots the rest of his life and it would have been crazy expensive. I found that he was super pushy, really tried to force you into things, was hard to understand/language barrier, and only cared about money as well. My cat was there for 20 minutes max and the bill was well over $1000. I wanted to say I didn't want certain items and it seemed like he was sick of me trying to decide and talk to my husband even though I was only thinking about it for a maximum of 5 minutes and he just took the cat and went and started doing the tests. We also were given medication he didn't really need as well. Was extremely expensive overall.

Fantastic experience: Never a disappointing visit. I’ve gone on for advice to flea and tick prevention to spaying. My girls always treated well. After the spay they called to let me know she was fine and didn’t make me feel crazy when I called later in the day as well. They even have a toy area for the good boys and girls when they are done their visit. Staff is amazing… highly recommend them.

Negative experience: Hard to understand and had to continuously ask pardon, please repeat. Learn English and learn it well if youre going to practice here. Quick and ready to move onto the next client, much like my own doctor. People and animals are not dollar signs. Price eluding, lack of compassion and too rushed. She was a big part of my family. How dare you rush her death and think nothing of it. Huge regret taking my beloved pet to die here.

Negative experience: I would not recommend this clinic based on my experience. I brought my dog in a couple months ago because he was unable to walk and had blood in his stool. Unfortunately, the staff provided an incorrect diagnosis and failed to identify that his inability to walk was due to a dislocated limb. I found the service to be unprofessional and ultimately felt it was a waste of money.

Hamilton Road Animal Hospital
Hamilton Road Animal Hospital

We’re sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your recent experience. We’d like to clarify that during your visit, diagnostic tests—including X-rays—were recommended to properly assess your dog’s condition. However, at that time, your primary concern was the bloody diarrhea, and further diagnostics were declined for your 16 year old pet.

We understand how concerning any health issue can be. We prescribed Prosoothe based on the presenting symptoms and the clinical findings shared with us during the visit. Without further diagnostics, it was not possible to definitively identify underlying orthopedic issues like a dislocated limb.

We always aim to offer the best possible care and options, but we also respect each owner's decision regarding treatment. Please call us if you would like to talk with us diretcly.

Negative experience: Went here to get my baby gerbil help as she seemed sickly, spoke to the vet-tech on the phone about her and they said they can take a look at her and try to help. Unfortunately no other small animal hospital was available at this time and they were the only option. When I got there and at first everything seemed normal, the vet-tech was nice but then I wait around 55 minutes for the doctor to come in and he came in for around 5 minutes told me there is nothing they can do and they can put her down for me or I can travel 2h away to see another vet that has more experience and proper tools and treatments for smaller animals, then he left. The vet-tech came back in and she was way more kind and tried talking to the doctor about the options but there wasn’t much they could do they said. My baby girl ended up passing away later when I got home with her and seemed like vet trip stressed her out a lot as she immediately worsened when and after going. The doctor seemed like he is just in it for the money and not for our animals wellbeing Side note: when the doctor came in he had brought another person in, it seemed like he was a person in training but the doctor never told me who he was and they were both being very loud and hovering around my baby and he handled her with no care and even flipped her around with no caution Edit: she was moving around, the doctor wasn’t in the room for enough time to see if she was or not. The hospital they “guided me” to was again 2h away which would have stressed her out even further especially after the initial drive and wait for this vet (total 1h 20 mins) The problem: The doctor is unprofessional, lacks empathy and seems to lack experience especially with smaller animals (based on reviews + my own experience)

We are truly sorry to hear about the loss of your gerbil and understand how devastating this must be for you.

At the time of your visit, your gerbil was in a very critical condition — she was not moving and her eyes were closed. Given her fragile state and the limitations for such small and sensitive animals, you was recomemnded to seek immediate care at Campus Estates Animal Hospital, which offers 24-hour support and specialized exotic care.

As no treatment or diagnostics were performed ,considering the critical nature of your pet's condition. Our intention was solely to guide you toward the best option available for her urgent needs.

Hello,
We’re sorry to hear you left feeling frustrated. We truly understand how important transparency is, especially when it comes to your pet’s care and associated costs. When you called, the estimate provided was specifically for core vaccines (distemper and rabies). During your visit, additional services were added, including the leptospirosis vaccine and a veterinary-administered deworming, which increased the total to $264.

Please know that no services are performed without your approval—we always provide a consent form with detailed pricing, which is signed prior to proceeding with care. We're committed to clear communication and welcome the chance to speak with you directly to clarify any confusion and make things right. Feel free to give us a call at your convenience. Thank you for the opportunity to care for your pet.

Negative experience: Don’t take your animal here. Over priced and they said my dogs thyroid was bad when another vet checked and said he was completely fine and the levels were normal. They arnt warm or sympathetic in any way, just want your money and will likely do un necessary testing. I switched over to east London animal hospital and I’m NEVER looking back.

Our veterinarians are experienced professionals who follow evidence-based protocols when interpreting lab results—including thyroid levels, which can vary depending on testing methods, lab reference ranges, and clinical context.

Our recommendation for further testing was made based on your dog’s specific presentation and lab findings at the time. Our team works hard every day to advocate for the health of our patients.
We’re glad your pet is doing well and please call us if you would like to discuss with us.

Negative experience: Your negligence killed my best friend I brought my bunny in who suddenly fell ill that day The place was dirty it smelled and I could hardly understand anyone. I told them everything that’s been going on They also handled her incorrectly They said “I think it’s stasis” I said what’s that what caused it They said grooming So I said ok what can I do They prescribed 1500$ worth or stuff not even knowing what it was I asked what it is they said it’s antibiotics I said will it help they said maybe but you’ll probably have to go to a 4-5000$ vet for surgery and they’ll keep her for 24hrs The vet they recommended was over an hour away and I didn’t want to stress her out in a car I wanted immediate relief for her. I told them I wanted to try anything to make her better they said the xray wouldn’t do much to help just show gas but they already seen she’s bloated. So I said ok asked about the meds then and they started ripping up the papers and said here do these ones critical care and pain meds I said is she in any pain? He fell silent and said honestly don’t be suprised if she drops dead that’s just rabbits charged me 150$ for critical care then told me to go buy pedilyte I left not knowing anything . Not if she was in pain not what to expect nothing ! I followed what I was told to do researched everything stayed by her all night and continued calling emergency vets in the morning for help little would I know she seized and died beside me within 12hrs. I was given no guidance no knowledge and no expectation other then him telling me she would just die either way what kind of vet says that .!

Negative experience: I want to share my experience with Dr. Rupi and this clinic. The cost for euthanasia, including private cremation and a paw print for my 30-pound dog, was $1,500. Unfortunately, the clinic lacks privacy, as the doors have windows, making an already difficult experience even more uncomfortable. Dr. Rupi recommended a test for my dog, despite her already diagnosed mast cell cancer. Given his medical expertise, he should have recognized the severity of her condition without subjecting her to unnecessary testing. The procedure worsened her condition, leading to uncontrollable bleeding. It is deeply unethical to take advantage of pet owners during such vulnerable times. I strongly regret proceeding with the aspiration. And I will live with this regret for the rest of my life, I should have never put her through that. And my experience saying goodbye to my beloved Daisy was heartbreaking, and the care provided by this clinic only made it worse. I would never recommend this facility to anyone facing such a difficult moment. I miss her every day.

We are truly sorry for your loss and understand how difficult this time must be. Please know that our thoughts are with you.

Regarding the procedure, we performed only a fine needle aspiration using a very small needle, with your permission, to assess whether there was any indication of incomplete removal or tumor recurrence, as the initial tumor removal was done at another clinic. Our prices are reasobale as compared to OVMA fee guidelines

Once again, we extend our deepest sympathies.

Negative experience: DON’T GO HERE AT ALL. They gave us medicine we didn’t need and caught them trying to scam us. Then unfortunately our sweet boy passed away when he needed surgery instead of the medicine we didn’t need and we told them the problem multiple times. But on the day of passing we had transferred him to the emergency vet (great place) and they put him into surgery right away but it was too late.

Negative experience: I don't typically write negative reviews, but as someone who loves animals, I feel it's important to speak up for those who can't. Unfortunately, my experience at this clinic was very concerning. I went because it was the only place available at the time, but I was disappointed from the beginning. The wait was long, which I could have overlooked, but the vet's cold and detached manner toward our pet raised red flags, prompting me to seek a second opinion. During our visit, they took blood and urine samples in another room. When we consulted with another vet afterward, we found out the initial diagnosis was incorrect and the recommended treatment was unnecessary. They even dewormed our 9 year old cat, which wasn't needed. It felt more like an attempt to upsell services than a genuine effort to help our pet. Additionally, we were told the blood in our pet's urine was likely due to rough handling during the sample collection. If you care about your pet's well-being, I recommend doing thorough research before choosing this clinic

Fantastic experience: I brought my geriatric dog in last evening as an urgent care appointment for a pressure wound on her shoulder because our regular vet clinic is still on holidays. They were able to get us in within minutes of my call. Cola (my dog) has MANY comorbities and is at end stage renal failure. Please understand that Cola is my life and I do everything in my power to ensure she receives the best medical care possible. Always. Upon our arrival, we received a very thorough pre exam and history taking. We were then seen by Dr. Rupi, who is extremely knowledgeable and took great care with Cola, ensuring her imminent medical needs were covered, and explained everything to me in great detail. He took his time with us, and I felt he truly cared. I received a follow-up call from the clinic today to check in on her status, which shows how much they truly do care. Their fees were on par with our regular clinic, and they did not charge me an emergency visit fee for our visit, which was very helpful, despite seeing us so promptly. This clinic is wonderful, and I am incredibly grateful to have had access to them in what was considered after hours in the vet med profession. Many Kudos.

Negative experience: Reception/vet hang up when they are done talking before you can finish. Called to get a surgery quote (the cause was confirmed by two vets/xrays) but wanted to run extra costly tests such as ultrasound prior to doing surgery which no other clinic i called around required. Edit: Vet followed up but no apology for hanging up and being short on previous calls instead wanted to argue over bad review. My cat was seen 4 times by 2 vets over a period of 8 days which gave the definitive diagnosis most recently yesterday. I called for quotes not because I was off-putting care but to get a reference range. in-fact he got surgery hours after finding out. Where we took him was more expensive than here but I would choose it again for their service.

Negative experience: Edit to update: the $400 quoted was absolutely just for ear mite treatment as I had asked multiple times how much it would be just to treat ear mites, how much it would be for separate testing, and for the initial exam. The $400 was JUST for mite treatment. They respond to negative reviews in ways to discredit the reviewer and to make their experiences not seem factual. You can’t tell me all these people leaving bad reviews are all just mistaken and need to talk to the vet a bit more. Perhaps I would have if he didn’t hang up on me! This place was recommended to me by a friend. At first, I praised their commitment to offering fair, and affordable care for your animals, never ordering unnecessary tests and doing what they could to help you, even if you were flat broke. That has certainly changed over the years. Now, just to treat ear mites for a rabbit, I was quoted over $400, when other places only charge $30 tops!!!! Every other vet I called said that price was absolutely outrageous. Keep in mind, I received this quote after spending almost $2,000 the day before there on my cat! What started as a check up and meds for arthritis quickly turned into trying to upcharge me for omegas that I can buy for a fraction of the price at my own trusted pet store, and overpriced cat food that you can buy literally anywhere else for $30 cheaper than what they charge. After I paid the initial bill with credit card still in hand, they decided to pressure me to buy pain meds and acted like she really, really needed them. That was another $150 just trying to get out the door. Few days later they called and wanted more money for more tests, using fear and the love of my pets as an incentive for me to spend it without question. When I said I couldn’t afford anything else, before I could ask anymore questions, he flat out hung up on me. It’s all just about money for them! The last few times I’ve taken my pets I’ve been noticing how money hungry they’ve become. Don’t come here unless you want to be guilt tripped and pressured into spending thousands. This used to be my go to vet. Never again!!! Shame on you, Dr. Rupi!!! I’d give zero stars if I could. Rescues don’t even bring their animals here anymore, especially rabbit rescues. That should have been enough of a red flag for me! Please don’t take your animals here!!! There are other vets that truly care about your pet and your situation. Don’t just take my word for it. Attached are pictures from others experiences at this vet hospital

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your recent experiences, as we aim to provide high-quality and compassionate care to every pet and their owner.

Regarding the concerns you mentioned:

Pricing Transparency: Veterinary care costs can vary due to the level of diagnostic and treatment quality we provide. Our quotes include comprehensive care, medications, follow-ups, and any necessary lab work to ensure the health and safety of your pet. While some clinics may offer lower prices, these often do not reflect the same thoroughness or care standards we prioritize. We always disucss prices with pet owners before do anything.

Care Recommendations: Our team always recommends treatments and products that we believe are in the best interest of your pet. For example, the Omega supplements and prescription diets suggested for your cat were tailored to their specific health needs. While alternatives are available, these recommendations are based on trusted, veterinary-approved brands that meet the highest nutritional standards.
Omega 3 are good for arthritis and triglycerides that were high on blood work results.
Communication and Support: We deeply regret if you felt pressured or unsupported in making decisions about your pet’s care. We aim to provide clear explanations and options to help owners make informed decisions. If our communication fell short during your visit, we sincerely apologize. We will use your feedback as an opportunity to improve.

Follow-Up Care: Our follow-ups are driven by concern for your pet's health, not profit. If additional tests or treatments were suggested, they were based on our commitment to thorough and responsible veterinary care.

We understand the financial challenges of caring for pets and strive to balance affordability with quality care. If there was any misunderstanding or if you’d like to discuss your experience further, we’d be happy to speak with you directly to address your concerns. Your feedback is invaluable, and we would like to ensure you feel heard and valued.

Thank you for trusting us with your pets’ care over the years. We are committed to continuously improving .All of consulations and recomemdnatiosn were given to you were discussed with internl medicine Specilist and also with Board Certified Radiologist .We charge 95 dollar plus taxes for examination and 65 dollar for ear mite test or cytology. Our fee guidelines are according to OVMA (Ontario Veterinary Medical Association ) Fee Guidelines. Please call us to discuss further .

Negative experience: Watch out how much they charge you for drugs. My dog needed a cheap antibiotic called metronidazole. They charged 5X the regular price! 124.00 for 50 mg. My regular vet charged 25.00 for the exact same drug a few months earlier. Be on guard with this clinic. They are good for EMERGENCIES ONLY but VERY VERY COSTLY.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this place!!! I would give 10 stars if I could. The staff were great, and had a sense of humor which helped, I was in tears when I showed up and laughing when I left. Fast service, looked at my kitty right away and took only 45 minutes. Best service I've ever experienced while at a vet. Thanks for making my worries go away and my cat better!!!

Fantastic experience: Amazing service & overall care for animals - in an emergency our dog was in need of stitches above her eye which was extremely stressful for us due to our dog previously having an awful reaction to sedation at another veterinary hospital- our nerves were immediately eased by the knowledgeable staff and the communication they provided throughout her care. We were in and out within 45 minutes the night of and we were pleased with the after care provided throughout her healing process. Will recommend to all pet owners who want the best care for their fur babies.

Positive experience: Decent, but prices are all over the place, and when they try to put you animal down. Push back. I took my cat there once, and I felt like I was negotiating my cats life. Everytine I said no I'll take her home, the price went down some. It was weird.

Fantastic experience: I have been bringing my pets to Hamilton road animal hospital for years. We have had several emergencies and have always been seen quickly. They have great hours and are much more reasonable than the fees at the emergency vet. The staff seems to care and we often get follow up calls to make sure our pets are okay.

Negative experience: Terrible place to take your pet! Over priced and no empathy. I would give 0 stars if I could. Felt like it was only a money grab and when I had a second opinion this was confirmed. I over paid for blood work by 3 times ! Disgusting. Google again, don’t use this vet !

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough good things about this veterinary hospital!! My dog was misdiagnosed as having mammary cancer by my longtime vet and I was told she would have 3-5 months to live if we didn’t operate — devastating. I brought my dog to Hamilton Road vet hospital for a second opinion and the vet told me he thought it was a hernia. He did a thorough exam and ultrasound same day, and then upon my approval, sent a referral to a specialist for a more detailed ultrasound and fine needle aspiration of the lump on her lower stomach. Test results came back two days later following specialist appt confirming it was a hernia and my dog also had kidney stones. The vet here called me same day he received the results to relay the news, and to tell me my options for fixing hernia & kidney stones. Ive also brought my dog here for separate health issue she had, and they were able to diagnose and treat the issue. They call next day to check up on your pet to see how they are doing. The whole team at this vet hospital Is great!! Kind, knowledgeable and thorough. Grateful to them

Fantastic experience: So far I've had nothing but a good experience here. I've taken my bunny and now my dog. My last vet (oxford) wouldn't let me go in with him. I'm pretty sure this caused him to be extra anxious and hate going to the vet. I'm glad that I'm able to comfort him in a strange environment. Everyone is nice and friendly. I also had no issues with getting ny SOAP notes for my dog's insurance. Keep up the good work guys and don't change a thing!

Negative experience: Would give 0 stars if I could. If you can take your pet to another vet I would. I have had a bad experience with this place from the moment I took my puppy here. The staff is super unorganized, unprofessional and will try and gauge you for every cent they can. I’ve gone on two separate occasions To get some vaccines and booster shots. I called prior to ask about the pricing and was given a total amount I would have to pay. Upon arrival I hear that the info I was provided over the phone was inaccurate and that the vet visit would cost more. Today was the straw that broke the camels back as I had my partner call earlier today to make an appointment for the dog to have hear flea shots. Was told to come in at 530pm today, show up and not only was the appointment not booked but the vet wasn’t even in. so even if my appointment did end up in the computer I wouldn’t be able to have the vaccine administered anyway. I am extremely disappointed with this veterinary office.

Fantastic experience: I've got to say, when I first went to the Doctor I was very skeptical due to things I'd read online, however I'm glad I decided to take my pups a there anyway. I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to my dogs and I'm very insistent in what I do and don't do with my animals (both pups are being trained as service dogs) the DR doesn't argue with me, doesn't try pushing unnecessary meds, tests or procedures. He's always handled my dogs in an appropriate manner and given me accurate and effective advise. A few weeks back one of my pups got into something toxic. When we brought him in he was in critical condition and we had NO IDEA what was making him sick, only that he was obviously dying. The doctor treated him promptly and in the most efficient and effective manner he could with no info on what was killing him. He stabilised him, ran blood work (which came back normal across the board) and administered something to induce vomiting as well as charcoal to absorb any remaining toxins. He kept watch over the pup for the day and emailed several experts for their opinion. He saved that dogs life. Unbeknownst to us the pup had ingested nicotine. My other pup contracted puppy pink eye. Called the DR, had an appointment immediately. And he always calls me personally after every visit to check up on the pups. No other vet does that. There's a difference between a courtesy call from a receptionist and a Vet taking time out of his day to check up on his patience. I appreciate that little extra care.

Fantastic experience: I took my guinea pig here a few weeks ago. She had gotten hay poke in her eye and it was an urgent situation. My normal veterinarian was out of the office that day. Hamilton road veterinary clinic got me in same day and got the hay out of her eye. They also had a good treatment plan to heal up her eye, a follow up call and appointment to check on her progress.i feel like it was on par with pricing. Would recommend and go here again.

Negative experience: I would never take my dog to this vet my friend did and his pup died and he was stuck with a 2200$ bill and still no answers as to why his pup died....and I've read the reviews and it's funny how many times they can't find people in their system when it's a bad review. I go to Southside they are amazing and they have compassion for all the pets they treat.

Negative experience: Read the reviews before going here. Seems like they are writing positive ones themselves.. I had an emergency about 2 weeks ago with my dog and called to take her here. The guy answered the phone and when I asked if they have an emergency vet (they do until 8pm) the guy says, "oh not really..." like ok? You either do or don't. Thankfully a vet on Wharncliffe was able to take my dog in.

Negative experience: Awful experience both times I went here. I took my Guinea pig here about 1.5 years ago and the vet was so rude. I had to keep asking him to repeat what he said because I was having trouble with his accent and he was getting frustrated and just speaking louder. Then he told me to put my Guinea pig through a procedure that would cost $2,000 and he might not survive it. I asked for pain medication and took him home. He only lived for about 2 weeks after that. Just recently I took my other Guinea pig here (only because I was in desperate need and no one else would see him) the same vet told me the exact same thing. He wanted me to put him through the procedure that he likely wouldn’t survive or to put him to sleep. I was crying because I didn’t know what to do and he just stared at me. I understand he couldn’t give me better news but he could have at least said “I’m so sorry there’s nothing else I can do”. My Guinea pig only survived for a few days after that. A year after my first Guinea pig died, I got an email saying “happy birthday” which was upsetting since that was his death anniversary not birth. And when I took my second Guinea pig in, I got an email saying happy birthday but they misspelled his name. They just don’t care at this place. I will never go back there again and I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Nasya Williams Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Highly suggest not bringing your cat here if they are nervous or anxious. I brought my cat in a few weeks ago and let them know he’s an anxious cat. Every other vet I had seen has made the experience as enjoyable as possible and been able to get him out of the cat carrier with ease. This vet was very loud, slamming the doors of their room and talking quite loudly amongst each other as well as loudly clanging things around in the room. This made my cat increasingly anxious and scared. They then seemed like they have never handled a cat before? Fully dismantling his cage to get him out (and then not being able to put it back together properly so i had to do it myself). They handled him very roughly grabbing at him and forcefully holding him down, so much so that they ripped his breakaway collar off trying to use it to pull him back onto the table? All while being so loud and disruptive it increased the already very traumatizing experience for my cat. They then did a urinalysis and he came back reeking of rubbing alcohol, keeping in mind a vet a few days prior attempted a urinalysis and he did not smell of alcohol at all. He was so afraid he tried to hide inside my small purse when brought back to the room. At other vets he eventually calms down enough to sit on the table calmly. In addition to this they tried to give me two medications I wouldn’t have even needed (i was told my by regular vet they were not necessary). Thankfully I declined them, it would have costed hundreds of dollars extra. They cut me off and wouldn’t fully listen to my concerns and assumed the ends of my questions I was going to ask, and assumed incorrectly. I’m grateful they saw me in the timely manner they did as I needed a vet right away, but I will never, ever bring any of my cats back here, and I suggest to others to do the same, especially if they are timid or shy.

I'm really sorry to hear about your experience with your cat. It sounds incredibly stressful for both you and your furry friend. It's important for our staff to be sensitive to the needs of anxious pets and to handle them with care and patience. Our staff is highly trained to handle stressfull and anxious pets .Our three staff members did help their best to calm down your anxious pet.We already have Feliway always in our cat room that help cats to calm them down in our clinic set up.But again , it is always stressfull fro some pets to visit vets.

If you feel comfortable, it might be helpful to provide feedback directly to the vet clinic about your experience. They may not be aware of how their actions affected your cat and could potentially make changes to improve the experience for future visits. We need to use alcohol to mainatina asepsis while we are taking urine samples. We need to discuss all options with owners before we do any treatment with consent. We did urinalysis with your consent .All detailed information about condition of your pet was discussed with you and also detailed information was given to you on your pet,s conditon. Please call us if you have any questions.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff, who politely answered every question I had in a very reassuring way. The veterinarian Dr. Rupi Singh Avapal was also extremely knowledgeable and the techs were so kind and patient with us as well. I could not say more positive things about this place; not only did they provide us with more services and knowledge than a lot of other vets that I've been to, but they thoroughly explained everything I needed to know. Negative experience: Update: I contacted 6 other vet clinics in and around London. $380 was the total at another vet office in London and any other place i called for pricing, they stated that $750 is an outrageous price. Original: I have taken my animals here for many years and have now changed to another vet. The prices are completely made up (no seriously) and inappropriate to charge for the service that is provided. They will add hundreds of dollars of "necessary" tests and procedures for even the most basic of complications or just when vaccinating your animals. Unfortunately, my parents cat became very sick and had to be euthanized yesterday, and the vet that I recommended was not open at that time. We were forced to take our dying cat to this office again and they were trying to charge over $750 for basic sedation and euthanasia. They ended up giving a "discount", which was again a made up price. I am so beyond disgusted with the ABSOLUTE lack of empathy and understanding while a cat is suffering...you decide to negotiate the price of a peaceful death. I will never take my animals here, because I actually care about their well being.

Hamilton Road Animal Hospital
Hamilton Road Animal Hospital

We are sorry to hear about your experience during such a difficult time. Your feelings of frustration and disappointment are completely understandable, especially when dealing with the loss of a beloved pet. It's essential for veterinary practices to prioritize empathy and understanding, particularly in situations involving euthanasia.

As a caring pet owner, it's distressing to encounter pricing practices that seem arbitrary and disconnected from the compassionate care your pet deserves. While We can't change what happened, We appreciate you sharing your concerns with us.
Moving forward, if you're open to it, I can offer some suggestions for how to address this issue with the veterinary practice in a constructive manner. Would you like some guidance on how to communicate your feedback effectively? You can please call us .Once again we are extremely sorry for your loss.

Negative experience: This clinic takes advantage of people in need of urgent vet services. I can't recommend strongly enough to avoid this clinic. I've worked at an animal clinic before and never met a vet who so poorly cares about the animals he treats. He only cares about the money and it shows by how much he overcharges. If you are in need of urgent services I recommend driving to Strathroy or anyplace outside of London. We have WAY better vets in the city who care.

Negative experience: My bf brought his cat here during an emergency and they wanted to charge astronomical prices for any tests or services. The staff lacked compassion and we had many people walking in and out of the room while we were there. Another family was in a room grieving the loss of their pet, while the cleaning lady barged in to deal with the trash. Negative experience: Avoid*** (if you have time to research or get other help) As much as we appreciated their timeliness, and assistance we were charged over $x,xxx. Within 3 business hours with them. We spent a lot of money on medication we did not open, nor get to use as we only had it from 7pm to 9am when we were informed the bad news. I asked before coming in if we could be compensated, and was told we could discuss when we arrive. Well my dog was being sedated, clip board was put in my face stating they would help me with $67. During our last moment with our dog, were offered $67 (0.02%) of what we paid back. Nor was I even in the headspace to care as I said goodbye to a family member of 10 years. We have no problem paying for your services and knowledge, but to inform of savings, expenses and charges during final moments with a loved one is not the time to do this. Consideration of non opened nor used medication should also be considered. In it for the money.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Hamilton Road Animal Hospital for nearly ten years now, mainly with my dog Riley every 3-4 months . The vets, vet techs and assistants have always been outstanding. They are very kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and have always treated me and my dog well. My dog has an anxiety problem and is always visibly scared when going. They speak so kindly and calmly to her to sooth her while she is there. I would highly recommend hamilton road vet to anyone I know, espacially if you have a sensitive dog who is afraid to go to the Vet.

Negative experience: 2 big gripes with this place, I told them I didn't understand what they were talking about cause I'm not a vet so they googled it and wanted me to read some random stuff online instead of just explaining it better. To be honest I think they just wanted to charge me more for something that didn't actually need to be done. First I was quoted $1500 verbally, then he brought in a huge long invoice that was $1700 and was like you have to sign this. Then when I come back my bill was raised AGAIN to $2000. So it ended up costing me $2200 for an ear infection!? There was one guy who seemed to actually care, but the senior vet definitely just wants your money and knows you have no choice. Would not recommend.

Negative experience: DESERVES 0 STARS!!! Save your time pet and money!! DONT GO HERE we took our little guinea pig in because it was sneezing, then said there was a eye infection… i asked how they knew right away and what signs showed but he just showed us a book about it nothing to do with OUR guinea pig, then the tried to charge us $711 for some other random scan for the pig but we declined, after the total was $480 something for 2 medications a fever and a eye infection we payed because we didn’t really know any better, in the car looking at the receipt we were like no way this actually costed almost $500 after we talked to another vet they said we didn’t need any of the meds and that they way over charged us, so we tried to get a refund they basically laughed at first then. later we got someone older then us to call they did end up refunding us around $300 after hours of complaining later, DO NOT GO HERE, THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR PETS OR YOU, THEY JUST CARE ABOUT MONEY.

Negative experience: Extremely overpriced. They try to get you to have things you don't actually need. I had second opinions and each vet said they overcharged me by hundreds of dollars. I stopped going here a few years ago. However I will say, while my cat was being put down the vet tech that was present began praying on the floor for my cat. That meant a lot to me.

Negative experience: Today our 5 yr old Golden Retriever ripped the outside nail basically off on her front right paw. It was sticking out sidways and bleeding. This vet clinic is near our home and we had been there once before. We called ahead and when we got there the vet without even assessing the nail/paw gave us a treatment plan for over 700 dollars that included putting out dog asleep to fix the nail. Straight money grab. We left and drove much further to our regular vet where they assessed our dog, removed the nail, cleaned her paw and wrapped it up. They gave us pain meds and antibiotics. The visit was about 30 min and cost us $145 tax in. Don't go to this vet. They care about making money, not about your pet.

Fantastic experience: I have been going here for many years since they opened. They have always been professional, efficient and caring with my pets, and friendly with me. Even though they are a busy Hospital, they always remember my pets and their specific needs. My cats have specific dietary needs, and will always special order me the food whenever I need it. They always make follow-up calls, are reasonably priced, never push for unnecessary services, always leaving it to the owners to decide based on the information they provided. I have referred family members here and they too have maintained their services, even though this particular Hospital wasn't the closest, and that is purely due to the service received. Thank you for all your help over the years.
