Paramount 24 Hour Animal Hospital: Avis
Expérience fantastique: Was there for a friend... Their pet had to be euthanized and the staff here was so kind. Especially the Vet who actually opened the rainbow bridge. It was hard but the people here made it bearable. They are so kind.
Expérience fantastique: I cannot recommend Paramount Animal Hospital enough. We recently had to say goodbye to our beloved dog, Dou Pok, and the entire team, from the doctors and students to the front desk, was absolutely incredible. They treated Dou Pok with such dignity and gave our family all the time, space, and comfort we needed. We were deeply touched to receive a beautiful, handwritten sympathy card from them yesterday, that gesture brought us so much peace. I’m attaching photos of Dou Pok. We hope the team remembers her sweet face and knows how much their kindness meant to us. Thank you for making her final journey so peaceful.
Expérience fantastique: We had an emergency situation and they took us in right away, which we’re incredibly grateful for. Mochi was well taken care of, and the vet was kind, thorough, and clear with her treatment recommendations. The space was clean and the environment felt calm and professional. Knowing they’re open 24 hours gives us so much peace of mind.
Expérience fantastique: Very friendly staff and they took my dog in right away. They took time to let me ask questions and offered a variety of solutions.
Expérience fantastique: I recently took my cat here for a check up, unfortunately she had to be put down due to fluid build up around her lungs. The staff were very patient and polite as the explained my options on what to do with her remains, especially the young woman working at the front desk who came in to explained what everything was (sorry I didn't get your name) if I could rate higher than 5 stars I would. Wonderful people
Expérience fantastique: I’ll start this by saying Paramount 24 Animal Hospital is hands down the best one I have been to in the city. We unexpectedly had to put down our 12 year old Pyrenees and our regular vet didn’t have the capacity to see him on such short notice. We called around to a few other Animal Hospitals but none were much help. As we were driving downtown to another clinic we stopped to get our boy one last chicken McMuffin, as we turned the corner we noticed Paramount and decided to see if they could help us. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left every single staff member showed incredible compassion not just to our boy but to us as well. They treated him with such gentleness and they made one of the hardest decisions of our lives feel warm, supported and peaceful. We never felt rushed or like it was just another appointment, they truly cared. I will never stop raving about this clinic and their amazing caring staff. On one of the most heartbreaking days of our lives they gave us and our boy comfort and kindness that we will never forget.
Expérience fantastique: Very pleased with the level of service we got. Dr. Scott was honest, helpful and caring when it came to the health of our cat. She communicated with us through the whole process.
Expérience fantastique: A week ago my daughter and I discovered her beloved pet hamster had developed wet tail suddenly. It was the evening and Paramount was the only vet clinic open that could see an exotic animal. While I'm not a person of great financial wealth, we knew at the very least we couldn't let him suffer. I called the clinic and they were very compassionate and helpful. I told them our budget and they were able to work within it. They took Mr. Frimplepants back for an assessment quickly. Shortly after we met with Dr. E. Sargeant to discuss treatment. She was unbelievably kind and empathetic. She created a treatment plan that fit within our budget. She discussed his care in a way that was accessible to my 6 year old daughter and was a shining example that there are good, caring people in the world who are willing to help when we need it. I'm happy to say Mr. Frimplepants has made a full recovery. I'm so grateful for the kind and compassionate care we recieved from the Paramount team and for giving my daughter the positive experience of being a responsible pet owner.
Expérience fantastique: Owning ferrets, I've always had trouble with finding a vet with the proper knowledge and tools to treat my ferrets when an issue arises. Going to the vet is almost never a good thing, but when my ferret yeti was sick, they not only treated him properly, but also provided a decent home-care plan that helped him bounce back. Unfortunately last December, I had to make the quality of life call for my boy Yeti and they were very supportive. Highly recommend this clinic for the effort they put in to make sure your pet is comfortable and treated.
Expérience fantastique: The location is clean and tidy, but warm and inviting, doesn’t feel like a sterile imposing atmosphere at all. The front staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, the doctors are pleasant to talk to and deal with in general.
Expérience fantastique: I brought my bunny in for an emergency visit and was met with utmost compassion. They gave me a range of options for treatment before we ultimately decided on euthanasia. Most vets I've been to almost always default to euthanasia for rabbits having GI stasis or other issues. The fact that they were willing to at least TRY treatment if I wished, I am forever grateful for.
Expérience fantastique: Ali was very thorough & provided all the information we needed to make an informed decision about our fur baby. :) Also, the new space is lovely!
Expérience négative: Even one star feels too generous based on our experience. We were very disappointed with the level of care and communication we received, and at times it felt like the focus was more on costs and additional treatments than on our dog’s immediate condition. Our dog had been fighting an infection for several months but had continued eating and staying active. On Saturday evening he stopped eating, and he didn’t eat through Sunday or Monday, though he was still drinking water. However, on Monday evening between 5 and 6 PM, he was still walking around and even circling our three-seat sofa repeatedly for exercise. She was also able to go outside and urinate on her own before we left for the hospital. Because she hadn’t eaten for two days, we decided to take her in that night to be safe. She stayed at the hospital for about 3 hours for treatment and bandaging. After that visit, he came out extremely lethargic and collapsed, and he could no longer stand or walk by himself. Seeing such a sudden change was very distressing for our family. Despite what seemed like a critical situation, we were presented with very high surgical estimates and charged hundreds of dollars for medications. Sadly, our dog passed away the following day. Our 16-year-old dog had always been praised by other veterinarians for having very strong and healthy teeth. That’s why we were confused when dental treatment was suggested as a priority. We were also given antibiotics for dry eyes, which didn’t seem related to the urgent issues he was facing at the time. It was difficult for us to understand these recommendations when our main concern was saving his life. Overall, this experience was heartbreaking, and we did not feel that our dog’s immediate well-being was truly prioritized.
Expérience fantastique: Thank you to the amazing team at Trinity Hills Pet Hospital for your compassion and kindness during the loss of my cat. The handwritten condolence card meant so much to me and showed how truly caring and thoughtful your staff is. I’m deeply grateful
Expérience fantastique: On December 9th, we had an unfortunate incident where my 7 month old puppy ended up injured from a dog bite. This happened at 7am, I was absolutely frantic - we started driving around to find a vet and ended up calling Paramount, she got in right away. I felt they were very clear on explaining what they wanted to do and what the options were. I knew what the prices were immediately and I could tell they genuinely cared. She was very well taken care of, two days after this I found another puncture pocket. I called them, they got me in right away and were able to clean and drain it as well as extend medication for her comfort. We all know emergency procedure for pets are extremely stressful and honestly I felt calm with her being there. I knew they cared and would do everything possible to make sure she was ok. I would happily come back to this location.
Expérience fantastique: If there were 10 stars that is what this clinic would get. Paramount is not our regular vet clinic, but we had to take our 13 1/2 year old Standard Poodle there when he was sick. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to come home with us. Our appointment at this clinic was top notch from check in to the end of life care for our sweet boy. They got the family plus our other Poodle in quickly to their lovely big room with a couch and chairs. We were given options and most importantly we were given time. Thank you Dr Wright and everyone else that helped us out that day. You are all very special individuals.
Expérience fantastique: We've been in and out of Paramount quite a few times over the last month-two months with Oscar, my cat, and have seen numerous vet here. The most recent time being last Friday where we saw Dr. S. Wells - what an amazing vet. She was so easy to talk to and so kind. I don't think I have ever found a vet in all these years that made me feel so comfortable to talk to, not to mention knowledgeable and caring for my baby. I'm truly thankful. Her and Dr. Scott at this clinic were both vets I have been searching for my entire life of owning pets and highly recommend. These wonderful vets are the kind you feel at ease with, trust and want to have for your pets medical care. I am so grateful I've found you both. Thank you. Edit: 9 months later - Unfortunately we are a regular here with my Osk and his issues however I really wanted to add that we are well taken care of every time we come in. These vets have seen me come in at the wee hours of the morning with my poor sweet boy and leave hours later with little to no sleep. Oscar and I have seen Dr. Amy Duong on many occasions now and though wish we didn't have to see eachother under the circumstances, she is a gem of a human being and one of the most caring and kindest veterinarians (amongst all mentioned in this review). We have also seen Dr. Quinn and I cannot leave either of them out of this review as they both have provided us with such kindness, next level quality care. Oscar and I are lucky to have all of you. Thank you.
Expérience fantastique: The team at Paramount was first-rate through a very difficult and trying time as we said farewell to Cricket, our feline friend of 15 years. Best.Damn.Cat.Ever. Special shoutouts to Dr. Quinn van Engelen and Dr. Tim German.
Expérience fantastique: Brought our chinchilla in here as he was lethargic and not breathing normally. The staff took him back right away to have him triaged and then let us know what was going on while we waited for the doctor. We saw Dr Elizabeth Sargeant who gave us all of the options clearly and was very thorough explaining everything. Our chinchilla is home and seems to have perked up already a bit. We are very happy with the service and the cost was reasonable and the doctor was very helpful with our concerns about cost. We would definitely go here again.
Expérience fantastique: I had to bring my dog in after she ingested poison. The clinic is clean, modern and comfortable, and the staff very compassionate. I very much appreciated their care and expertise, and felt their costs were reasonable. I don't have insurance and they worked with me to ensure we had several options for after care, based on my ability to monitor my dog at home. Thank you to everyone from reception to the vets who deal with so many crises and are still so kind and caring.
Expérience fantastique: We came in as a walk in when my dog ate raisin bread and they were very quick to help make him vomit and check his blood. We came in to see the nurses a couple of times to check his kidneys. Eddie is doing well. Kept me updated on what was happening. Just had another visit after the holidays for a wound that my dog got while in the backyard. The front desk were quick to get Eddie checked in and the doctor was kind. Wound was repaired for less than I expected. Thank you for the evening help!
Expérience négative: My experience with this clinic: To date, I have spent over $10,000 in an effort to obtain answers for my dog’s chronic nasal discharge. Following CT imaging and rhinoscopy here, he was diagnosed with lymphoplasmacytic rhinitis, and we have diligently followed all treatment recommendations provided by the attending veterinarian. Unfortunately, the prescribed treatment has differed only slightly from medications he was already receiving prior to these extensive diagnostics, with no meaningful improvement in his condition. Since the diagnosis, continuity of care has been extremely poor. The veterinarian overseeing my dog’s case has gone on vacation twice, and during these absences there appears to be no coverage or handover of ongoing cases. As a result, responses to urgent and time-sensitive emails frequently take several days, leaving my dog without timely medical guidance. Following the rhinoscopy, I returned to the clinic due to significant concern about my dog’s condition. He was in visible distress with an elevated heart rate, and I was worried he may have developed pneumonia as a complication of the procedure. I was charged $85 for a recheck appointment, only to be told to “go home and return if he gets worse,” without further investigation or reassurance. The video attached was my dog after that visit, and when it was emailed to the clinic, the client care team said to come back in and that they wouldn't charge for another recheck.. within an hour of his last visit. On another occasion, we were sent home with an incorrect prescription dosage, which further eroded my confidence in the care being provided. In addition, I was charged $126 for an AeroChamber, an item that is readily available for approximately $80 through common retailers. A couple of weeks ago,, after emailing the veterinarian to report that my dog’s symptoms were returning, it took a 20-minute phone call simply to book an appointment 10 days away—to discuss the same symptoms already outlined in prior email communication. Despite arguing that the symptoms had been discussed, we were forced to book a recheck that resulted in restarting our dog on the same antibiotics he was previously told to discontinue after 3 weeks. Another 85$ charge for absolutely nothing that couldn't be communicated over one short email. Most recently, I emailed to inquire about how I should proceed with his medication which runs out in 8 days, and was told I would have to book yet another appointment/recheck (2 weeks after the previous one), despite the fact that we knew from the beginning that my dog would have to be tapered down/off this medication. Now I'm left unsure of how to proceed unless I spend another 85$. I'm exhausted dealing with their front desk. Overall, this experience has left me feeling that my concerns are not being taken seriously and that my dog’s wellbeing is not being prioritized. This is particularly disheartening given my past experiences with other veterinary specialists, including two prior knee surgeries at a different clinic where follow-up care was included and communication was timely and supportive. I entrusted your clinic with my dog’s care in good faith, expecting thorough follow-up, accurate prescribing, reasonable transparency in pricing, and continuity of care—especially after such significant financial and emotional investment. Regrettably, these expectations have not been met. We had a bad feeling about this clinic from our first visit, however after extensive research, this was the only clinic available in a reasonable timeframe for the recommended testing. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve patient care, communication practices, and case management moving forward.
Expérience fantastique: We had a great experience with this veterinary clinic. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely cares about the animals. The veterinarians are professional, explain everything clearly, and make you feel confident that your pet is in good hands. Highly recommended.
Expérience fantastique: I went today with my very sick cat Alvin. They treated both me and my little lad with caring and professionalism. Very open and transparent about costs and realistic expectations. Sadly Alvin was beyond help.
Expérience négative: Avoid this clinic at all cost. Your money is clearly going to fund their fancy clinic. The vet wasn’t sure what was wrong with our dog- wish we saved our $600 and went to our regular vet
Expérience fantastique: About two weeks ago to the day we had to put down our beautiful big boy Lennon down, it was a very high emotional time with myself and my boyfriend but the way the vet, vet techs and the whole team were super compassionate and helpful. Quinn was our vet for the night but I feel so bad because I do not remember the euthanasia doctor who did the last step, they both were very helpful and amazing to do what they do, me and my boyfriend talked about how compassionate they were and noticed with some of the employees crying a little which really moved me. The vet techs were also very compassionate and helpful. We got Lennon back not even a week after he passed and him and his box is so beautifully done and brings me comfort (lennon is in his favourite thing, his own little box) I was so emotional and same with my boyfriend I feel so embarrassed but it was comforting to know Lennon was taking good care of in his last moments.
Expérience fantastique: They saved my cat! I will forever be grateful to Paramount for tending to my sweet boy after he developed severe ileus. The first night they said they would keep him, I knew he was in good hands (I still cried in my car for an hour) I’d never been in my home without my cat, and I was scared he’d never come home again. I’d never seen him so sick. Paramount called me twice a day, every day, for the 8 days while my cat was in care. He had a procedure on Christmas, and the staff and doctors were so kind on ensuring my boy was going to be safe, called and texted me updates, and made sure I took care of myself too, while he was sick. They were always so sweet during my visits, and I could tell the doctors and nurses truly develop a bond with each pet; getting to know their unique personalities. They always answered my thousands of questions, and I am eternally grateful for being able to bring my boy home. Everyone here, even the other customers are kind, all sharing the mindset that we’re in a place we never expected to be in. Everyone is empathetic and kind, no matter what time you’re there. I’m so happy I chose Paramount, and will continue to! Amazing doctors and lovely staff!! Thank you so so so much!!! Xoxo!
Expérience fantastique: Paramount 24 hour pet hospital provided excellent care on the worst day of our lives. Our 12 year old border collie had some red flag symptoms in the middle of the night. I called Paramount and the receptionist on the phone was very patient, she triaged the situation and asked us to look for a couple symptoms at home, she quickly stated we should bring her in. My husband called when they arrived and the Tech/Receptionist was already on her way out to help. She was seen quickly by the Tech followed by Dr. Burns, she was very clear with direction, diagnosis and allowed for the many questions we had. Unfortunately our sweet girl had a large bleed in her stomach and the treatment options were not going to improve her quality of life or extend our time with her. Dr. Burns was able to stabilize temporarily for our family to all come together. Dr. Burns was kind, patient and honest. Everything that I could have asked for during this heartbreaking time. The tech/receptionist at the front was so incredibly kind, gentle and supportive as she helped us check out. (I’m sorry I can’t remember her name but she had long pink and black hair) For everyone taking their pets here, I urge you to have understanding of the type of facility you are in, these people are kind, caring and efficient. There can be long waits, times without an update, interruptions as Dr’s run out of the room to tend to others. This is not a lack of care, it’s emergency medicine and they are working to save lives and/or supporting families as they say goodbye. Thank you to everyone who took care of our sweet Lilly
Expérience négative: My daughter brought our senior dog in for emergency gastrointestinal issues including blood in his stool. It was a stressful situation and what should have been a focus on the current health scare turned into a guilt trip over a "new" heart murmur and underlying health issues we are aware of, since we take him to his regular vet consistently and are monitoring his health. The vet presented a quote for $6000 for a 2 day stay and monitoring, along with other unnecessary procedures that didn't target the GI issues at hand. My daughter was told if she didn't admit our dog, he could die and if he wasn't better in one day we should consider euthanasia. Not one test was completed. No X-rays or ultrasound were performed. The opinion was based on a physical exam when our dog was in a stressed state and also very dehydrated. We ended up deciding on home care and appropriate medications. He bounced back in a few hours including being able to eat and drink water with no further complications. For anyone visiting this clinic for emergency services, I would recommend gaining a second opinion from another office before making big decisions with your pets. Euthanasia should never be treated in such a flippant manor, nor should such a large expense for veterinary care. I can't imagine the number of pet owners that have agreed to some of these services while in a vulnerable position.
Expérience négative: This place doesn’t deserve one star. On December 23, I called this clinic and was told over the phone that the wait time would be approximately 30 minutes. This was recorded on my dash cameras. After arriving, I waited over two and a half hours before my dog was finally seen by a veterinarian. That veterinarian told me she would be calling me back the very next day with follow-up information. Her name was Amber Wright. I never received that call. During the December 23 appointment, a staff member with black and pink hair behaved in an unprofessional and arrogant manner when she entered the room to discuss payment before any care had been provided to my pet. Her behavior was so inappropriate that I asked her to leave and requested that the veterinarian return to the room. On December 25, I contacted the clinic again to ask why I had not been called back Also recorded on my dash cameraa. The staff member I spoke with appeared unable to locate my pet’s recent visit from just two days prior. She was completely clueless during this call. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told that no manager was available. I then requested that a manager contact me the following day (Boxing Day), and I was told that they could not guarantee a call back. Super unprofessional response. I paid for results that were promised within 24 hours, and instead I am now waiting multiple days with no communication or accountability. This level of disorganization and lack of follow-up is unacceptable, especially when it concerns the health of a pet. I expect a prompt explanation and resolution. However, Dr. Amber Wright was very compassionate during the appointment. That said, if a follow-up call is promised for the following day, it is essential that the doctor follows through and contacts the pet owner as stated during our visit. Very disappointed by this clinic I highly do not recommend this clinic to anybody
Expérience fantastique: Had to come here for an emergency exotic animal euthanasia. They were so compassionate and ready to help. The fee was very reasonable and didn’t and to the grief. They even mailed me a heartfelt sympathy card afterwards even though this is not my usual vet clinic. Thank you so much!
Expérience fantastique: All the staff at Paramount were extremely kind and professional during my beloved dog’s end of life appointment. They made a world of difference to my pet and I , ensuring our utmost comfort and care at a difficult time for us. They have also followed up with a handwritten condolence card from the staff members. I am very grateful for this clinic and highly recommend them.
Expérience fantastique: We had to take our 4-year old puppy to the vet on Saturday because he had gotten into the box of Purdy's chocolates and eaten about 12 mixed light and dark chocolates. Finding that the closest clinic to us was closed, a very kind couple told us about Paramount. We are so happy to have found this beautiful clinic. It is clean, relaxing, and the staff are superb. They kept us informed every step of the way. We had to leave our puppy overnight in the hospital but we knew he was in good hands. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of our puppy. This is the place we will be going to for the medical care of our pets (outside of our own wonderful veterinarian)!
Expérience fantastique: We had to bring our 5 year old pup in very early this morning after she started having cluster seizures. The nearly 2 hour drive was absolutely worth it because this calm, quick team was everything we needed. Thank you to Tannis, Cass, Dr.Liz, Barb and every single one of you who we didn't meet, but made her visit so so so much less stressful for us and her. I cannot thank you all enough for the work you continue to do for animals and for us as scared, stressed out and sleep-deprived owners. Thank you for comforting her and treating her with such care. We left with a thorough understanding about her condition, and after starting her new daily meds; she's been great since we got her home. And, in the case she is not doing great? We know what to do, we feel in control, and we know our next steps. We have discussed options for more diagnostics and a "plan B" if this first drug isn't adequate enough to control her seizures..because that's a possibility & we are prepared for that. Before we even left the hospital, I had an email with more information, resources and links. You guys have got it goin onnnn?! I will never EVER get sick of telling you how important you all are; for your dedication to helping animals and their humans in times of distress. Thank you all. Thank you for the calmness and the hugs, the delicious drinks and most importantly for taking care of our girl ❤️ we are so so grateful that y'all exist! HOPEFULLY we never have to see you in this hospital again....but if we DO; I know we'll be in good hands. *You guys will be too..because we'll be bringing treats. PS: this is literally the most stunning and visually relaxing emergency hospital I've ever set foot in. Absolutely gorgeous, 10/10 no notes
Expérience fantastique: Every time we have to call or visit the front staff and vets are always so helpful, compassionate and understanding. I wouldn’t trust any other vet in the city.
Expérience négative: Let me start by saying that even one star is far too high and generous of a rating for this place. The staff are unqualified, the treatments are ineffective, the prices are outrageous, and worst of all the care feels completely heartless. They don’t properly diagnose anything; they simply jump straight to pain meds or euthanasia. If you truly love your pet, take them anywhere else. Honestly, your pet would be better off at home under your own watch.
Expérience fantastique: Great staff ! Vets and nursing team helped save Moose from his life threatening condition, he was in hospital for 6 days and they took amazing care of him! We have had follows ups consistently since his hospitalization in January and everyone has been so accommodating. I am very thankful for pet insurance that helped with the cost of care. Keep up the great work Paramount! Thank you for all that you do for the pets and their families!! Update: went with my other cats for their wellness and the team was lovely! From front desk to the vets! Answered all my questions and left knowing that I was doing to best I could for my fur family members! Love the new space you guys are in, very comfortable. Thanks for the coffee Continued excellent experience with this team both at Northland and Varsity.
Expérience négative: An honest review. If I could give zero stars, I would. My dog was 10 years old, diagnosed with a collapse trachea. This hospital was good for a few years up until this year when I had to rush my dog in for an emergency. This hospital has caused me and my family so much trauma, that I am only getting to this review now (its been 3 months) to warn others from this experience. Similar to the other one star reviews, mine was very similar. Reception was not reliable (we never knew what was actually happening), the doctors were not empathetic, we were waiting for three hours when we admitted our dog into emergency. While I understand they need to prioritize each emergency case by case, it would be nice for you to provide an update. The doctors we had seemed quite junior, in a sense that they provided recommendations that our “home” clinic had advised us they dont recommend. We had to make a hard decision to put our dog down, and had requested they cremate with a toy that he grew up with since his birth. In short, they had threw out the toy in the garbage, lied to us until we demanded a response. They had offered to compensate for the toy, but there is no price tag. It was a sentimental value which they do not understand coming from a hospital that prides itself with “exceptional care?”. My family and I have been in so much distress since his passing, I dont wish this upon anyone else. Beware, they push on euthanasia so early on, if your gut is telling you otherwise, seek another clinic for second advice. Please read the one star reviews carefully as they are accurate before sending your pet here.
Expérience négative: This place is absolutely terrible. Every time my cat has been unwell, they’ve done nothing more than administer pain medication without addressing the actual problem. Despite their carelessness and minimal effort, they still charge an outrageous amount for just an hour or two of their time. My local vet provides far better care, doesn’t overcharge, and actually treats the underlying issue. I strongly recommend avoiding this clinic you’re much better off going anywhere else.
Expérience négative: I recently endured a disastrous and unacceptable experience at Paramount 24 Hr Animal Hospital in Calgary, the self-proclaimed "top emergency animal hospital in Calgary" that boasts "24/7 vet care Calgary," "round-the-clock pet emergency services Calgary," and "compassionate veterinary care around the clock." If you're desperately Googling "24 hour animal hospital Calgary," "emergency vet clinic Calgary," or "urgent pet care Northland Drive NW" for your beloved pet's crisis, do not choose this place—it's hands down the worst emergency vet in Calgary and a total letdown for Calgary pet owners seeking reliable "animal emergency hospital Varsity Dr NW." My ill dog was in obvious distress, and we rushed to what they market as a "premier pet emergency service Calgary" with "state-of-the-art diagnostics" and "triage for critical cases." What we got instead was pure negligence: stuck in a isolated waiting room for over 2.5 hours straight with absolutely no updates from anyone. No veterinarian or technician even glanced at my suffering dog during that endless wait, despite their website's hollow promises of "immediate triage" and "highest standards of emergency animal care Calgary." This ordeal stretched well past midnight, transforming a supposed "fast-response 24 hour vet Calgary" into a frustrating black hole of indifference for late-night pet emergencies in Calgary. I was forced to hike back to the front desk multiple times myself to beg for any scrap of information, as zero proactive communication came from the unhelpful staff. And the kicker? They offhandedly explained that our case got pushed even further back because a "more urgent" one arrived—completely ignoring the gravity of my dog's symptoms and their advertised "prioritized urgent care for pets Calgary." This isn't "comprehensive 24/7 animal hospital services"; it's blatant incompetence, poor management, and a shocking lack of empathy for distressed animals and anxious pet parents in Calgary's northwest. Pet owners beware: If you cherish your furry family member's well-being, avoid Paramount 24 Hr Animal Hospital on Northland Drive NW or Varsity Dr NW in Calgary at all costs. Search instead for a genuine "24 hour emergency vet Calgary," "reliable animal ER Calgary," or "trusted pet hospital Calgary"—anything but this overhyped disaster. One star is way too kind for such a horrendous emergency animal hospital in Calgary; I'd give zero if possible. Never again for Calgary dog emergencies or any pet health crisis.
Expérience fantastique: They shaved my grouchy demon of a long hair cat when he got too matted to brush. They handled him very well considering how angry he was.
Expérience fantastique: I didn't come in for a vet visit but I did speak to staff over the phone. My puppy was having some respiratory issues and I wasn't sure if it was an emergency so I called in the middle of the night. The person on the phone asked me to send a video. They reviewed the video and let me know she did not appear to be in distress so a vet visit could wait until business hours. My puppy's symptoms subsided on their own in the morning. I appreciated the reassurance from the vet clinic staff and it also saved me from an expensive ER vet bill. Thank you!
Expérience fantastique: Everyone was so kind and caring. I appreciate all the help. Will definitely be taking my cat here in the future. Thanks again ❤️
Expérience fantastique: Everything the chains aren’t. Dr. MacQuarrie is brilliant yet explains everything clearly, and when not scheduled , every other vet is equally exceptional. The entire team—from front desk to assistants—turns stressful visits into manageable experiences. They’re organized, compassionate, and understand that our pets ARE family. If you want a clinic that combines top-tier professionalism with genuine care, this is it.
Expérience négative: I brought my baby pigeon to this hospital because he was struggling with a splayed leg. Before going, I called the center to confirm if they could see him. I explained the issue in detail, and the receptionist assured me that I could come as a walk-in. I arrived at 5:15 PM and waited until after midnight—over six hours—before finally seeing a doctor. To my shock, the doctor told me she had no experience with avian or exotic birds. I couldn’t understand why the hospital accepted my pigeon as a patient when they knew there was no qualified avian doctor available that day. The only suggestions offered were hobbling the pigeon and taking an X-ray, but the doctor admitted she wasn’t familiar with the proper procedures for birds. After this brief conversation, the receptionist still insisted on charging the full visit fee. I explained that I had waited for hours under stress and exhaustion, only to be told that no bird specialist was available. I asked if they could reduce the fee given the circumstances, but they refused. This experience was extremely disappointing. My pigeon’s health was urgent, and instead of receiving proper care, I wasted time, money, and energy. My question to the hospital is simple: why accept bird patients if you don’t have an avian specialist on staff? A clear answer upfront would have saved me hours of waiting and unnecessary stress.
Expérience fantastique: This clinic has looked after both our dog and our conure. Fair prices, good service.
Expérience fantastique: Dr. Liz Sargent was so kind and compassionate during our emergency visit, thankful for her support when having to make the difficult decision to euthanize my pet.
Expérience fantastique: Thank you so much for caring for my pet! Really nice facility, lovely staff and really fair pricing. It was busy but the wait was quick. Couldn't have asked for a better experience
Expérience négative: Brought my dog into this vet because he was having seizures and they rushed him into the back and they kept asking about payment but we didnt have anything on us because it was an emergency we finally got him home and gave them a call asking for more of the pills for him and they said they wouldn't write him another prescription until the bill was paid but when we were there they told us that he needs to be on his these pills the rest of his life but wouldn't write him another prescription, I would not go to this vet they are only out for the money.
Expérience positive: Got us in within 4 hours , missed the diagnosis however so we had to pay again at our original vet.. good vets though and friendly staff!
Expérience fantastique: Incredibly helpful and empathetic staff. Helped me through the final stages of a pet's life with zero judgements and full support. After care was easy, and I was even sent a condolences card afterwards. 10/10 recommend for all your vet needs, emergency or otherwise.
Expérience fantastique: My dog was recovering from cataract surgery and had a bad fall that damaged one of her eyes. In that moment, it looked like the eye had completely detached itself, and there was extensive damage so I rushed her to Paramount because it was a Saturday evening. It technically wasn’t a life-threatening injury, but they still got us in fairly quickly and Dr. Yates was amazing. Even though it was the eye, she did a thorough full body examination, and was working with the ophthalmology clinic who did her surgery over email. I really appreciate that Dr. Yates didn’t try to go outside her comfort zone in dealing with the eye because we really did not know the extent of the damage. Some vets are not that humble. After we left, she continued to contact me through email and text and walked me through my dog’s bloodwork results. Thankfully, I haven’t had to visit many emergency clinics, but I was happy and impressed with care, empathy and efficiency with Dr. Yates and the vet techs who helped.
Expérience fantastique: I was extremely relieved with the service I received at Paramount 24 Hour Animal Hospital, especially compared to my experience at another clinic. From the moment I arrived, the front desk receptionist was attentive and welcoming, which instantly put me at ease. I was seen right away, and the doctor was incredibly transparent — taking plenty of time to discuss my pet’s health and answer all of my questions thoroughly. The office itself is modern, clean, and comfortable, with thoughtful touches like couches and a coffee bar that make the experience feel less clinical and more inviting. Every staff member I interacted with was professional and genuinely caring. I’ll definitely be back and will be referring all my family and friends to Paramount. They’ve earned my trust and gratitude.
Expérience fantastique: I had to put my cat down last Friday. I am so appreciative of Paramount. Considering my circumstance it was the best the experience could be. I went to Alpine the week before and I got shoved into an exam room with my cat and waited two hours. Paramount grabs your pet immediately and takes them back for care. The facility is beautiful. They have a machine for coffee/tea/hot chocolate. I was pretty faint and the girls went and got me a fruit roll up. They were super sweet. The couches are very comfy for potential waits. I only waited 20 min. The doctor was amazing. She radiated kindness. She waived my exam fee after I made the call to euthanize. I was truly grateful for her. I’m so fortunate to have been guided here to go through my loss. Do not hesitate to come here.
Expérience fantastique: They accepted my pet chicken after I had called a dozen places in a panic, trying to find help. The staff was very kind and they treated Brittany like any other pet. They tried very hard to help her and gave us consistent updates during her stay. Sadly, she didn't make it but the staff was amazing and made the process very gentle and kind. I appreciate it so much. I'm so thankful that they see chickens and treat them as the sweet pets that they can be.
Expérience fantastique: Took our dog there at like two in the morning cause he must’ve ate a roach off the ground, and he was very high lol the pricing was reasonable and definitely not overpriced. The vet was very nice and actually came out and sat with us. Would definitely go there again for an emergency.
Expérience fantastique: Edit: I was quite upset with the visit previously. As my first post below outlines. But the medical director called me directly and not only admitted that this was an error on their part. But also offered to scan Lilly at no cost. She was apologetic and explained that they would work with us if there was surgery or something else that needed to happen. I am beyond happy with this outcome. It is rare to have a company not only remedy the situation but also admit they were wrong. It really shows the integrity this company has for their patients and their families. Thank you. —————————- I am really upset over our last visit. We love this vet and recommended them before this. Our dog ate one of our daughter’s toys, and we rushed her in within thirty minutes so she could have vomiting induced. when we got there, no one would see us. We pleaded to even be given the meds and then we could watch our dog. But they refused. So we sat for 3 hours. By that time, when they induced vomiting nothing came out. We did everything right. And because there were not enough resources in your department we potentially will have to do surgery, or worse.
Expérience fantastique: Rushed here late Sunday night with a lab that was in pain and not feeling well. Front desk was efficient, we were seen to very quickly, X-rays done shortly after and a very kind and clear explanation of what was going on was completed by Dr. Sarah Bramer - she was fantastic. An hour later we’re back home and resting up. Clinic is spotlessly clean and modern, prices are what they are. I encourage all pet owners to get insurance. Would come here again if we had an emergency.
Expérience négative: I brought my 2-year-old Chihuahua to this clinic after he fell off the couch. Because he is very small I was understandably concerned; we waited hours before being seen. When the veterinarian finally examined him she immediately presented the worst-case scenario — that he needed a neurologist referral and should be hospitalized overnight for fluids, medication, and monitoring — without explaining what, if anything, was wrong. She dismissed my questions, insisted he had not hit his head, and refused to listen to his history or my concerns about his leg. I sought a second opinion at another emergency hospital. After testing, they diagnosed a pulled muscle and treated him with pain medication. He recovered fully in less than a week. The first clinic’s overnight estimate was $5,000; the second vet’s total cost was about $1,000. This experience was distressing, expensive, and avoidable. If you take your pet to this clinic: get a second opinion. I felt rushed, ignored, and pressured toward the most extreme and costly option without adequate explanation or consideration of less severe possibilities. At the other emergency the price I paid for the exams tests and meds WAS CHEAPER then just an exam at this vet. Absolutely horrible experience!
Expérience positive: On Sept. 16, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize my beloved cat, Razz. The day before, he had been seen by a veterinary dental specialist who performed advanced imaging and confirmed a diagnosis of terminal nasal cancer. I provided Paramount Animal Clinic with all of the records and imaging beforehand. While the staff were polite and the procedure itself was handled gently, I was deeply upset by what happened beforehand. Despite having reviewed the specialist’s detailed report and images, and despite Razz’s clearly visible condition, the veterinarian insisted on performing a full physical exam and charged an additional $115 for it. This exam was clearly redundant…the diagnosis was confirmed, the prognosis was terminal, and there was no question about the decision that had to be made. What made the experience even more distressing was that the vet spent several minutes listening to Razz’s breathing and heart, only to inform me that he had a heart murmur…something I already knew and which had nothing to do with the situation at hand. At that point, it felt like an unnecessary prolonging of an already painful process, adding emotional strain when compassion and efficiency would have been far more appropriate. I understand that clinics have policies, but in this case, rigidly adhering to procedure over empathy felt insensitive. Losing a pet is devastating, and I wish this clinic had recognized that sometimes compassion means sparing clients from additional costs and needless steps. The exam added nothing of value…only financial and emotional pain at a time when I was already grieving.
Expérience fantastique: Had a really great experience here thank you for taking care of our family. Really felt a lot of care and love. Thank you for all the doctors that helped us.
Expérience fantastique: My dog broke her nail and was bleeding all over the place. Called the Emergency and they told me an hour wait, we were out the door, with a treatment plan and meds in under 30 minutes. Thank you so so much guys!
Expérience fantastique: I’m incredibly thankful to the amazing veterinarians and staff at Paramount Animal Hospital who saved my cat’s life. My cat was diagnosed with FIP, and I came to the hospital seeking help. The team provided exceptional care and kept me updated every day. He spent a few days in the hospital and began feeling much better. After his hospitalization, he continued under the supervision of Dr. Heather, who provided excellent treatment, explained his condition clearly, and supported us through every step. Thanks to their dedication and compassion, my cat has fully recovered — no more FIP! I highly recommend Paramount Animal Hospital to anyone looking for outstanding veterinary care.
Expérience négative: Vet I dealt with was extremely disrespectful. Wants to charge 6-7k in diagnostics for a simple issue that should’ve been a quick clean-up and a few stitches. Shames you for not wanting to give your dog a CT scan acting like your pet will most likely die if you don’t empty your bank account.
Expérience fantastique: I can’t say enough good things about this veterinary hospital. I had to bring my cat in around 12:30AM when he suddenly started having breathing problems. They took him in right away without hesitation. From the very beginning, the veterinarian himself came out and explained each step of what was going on, which gave me so much peace of mind in such a scary moment. A family member of mine was out of province in BC, and they were incredibly patient and understanding that I had her on FaceTime so she could be a part of the decisions and goodbyes. Unfortunately, my cat was diagnosed with heart failure, and we made the difficult decision to let him go. The team showed us the utmost compassion—they gave us as much time as we needed, never rushed us, never pushed paperwork or finances in our faces, and truly made us feel cared for. In such a heartbreaking situation, their kindness made all the difference. I would highly, highly recommend this clinic to anyone. They go above and beyond for both pets and their people.
Expérience fantastique: Very compassionate and thorough with my bunnies Karoo and Suu. They explain possible causes and the tests that can be ran without pushing it to the deep end right away, unless necessary. They truly want to help our beloved companions and we have to be understanding that they are humans trying their best. ❤️
Expérience fantastique: The hardest day of my life was the last day of hers. But. Everyone from the reception team, techs and vets provided comfort and understanding. At no time did we feel forced into having extra invasive testing or treatments that would only extend her life, but not the quality of it. Saying goodbye is never easy, but this crew smoothed the path for us to walk. Thank you.
Expérience négative: I had a negative experience with one of the vets at Paramount. I walked-in with my dog because she had an upset stomach. I was also concerned that she had a thyroid condition (we actually had an exam scheduled two days later but brought her in early due to her upset stomach). The vet suggested conducting a variety of x-rays and tests, including an expensive thyroid hormone test. I asked her if all these tests were necessary, and she said yes. I followed her advice. After the test results came in, she admitted that the results of the thyroid test would be inconclusive because of my dog's upset stomach and suggested doing the test AGAIN when my dog felt better. But she knew that my dog was sick when we came in, so I don't know why she recommended getting a test that she knew would have inconclusive results. The vet used the trust we placed in her to sell us unnecessary services. After questioning her about the test, the vet rolled her eyes at me, which my partner also witnessed. *** BTW a few weeks later, another clinic confirmed that my dog does have a thyroid problem. I paid my bill at 1:12 pm and was made to wait until 2:15 pm for my dog's stomach medication. Every time I asked about when the medication would be ready, I was told, "we don't know." The receptionists could not be bothered to ask the vets how much longer it would be. Later that day, I contacted the client care lead about my experience. She did not apologize or take responsibility and said that I had apparently "asked" for the thyroid test to be done even though the vet recommended it without explaining that we would just have to get it done again. Overall, the experience was predatory, unprofessional, and callous.
Expérience fantastique: I recently had to get my childhood best friend euthanized here. If you’re ever considering a place to have your last moments with your pet, choose paramount. Super respectful, considerate, and kind. They have a great separate and private space where they do it and I’m just glad my best friend was treated so special until the end.
Expérience négative: My son brought his husky in who was crying in pain, he had to wait 4 hours to see a vet and when they finally got seen and the vet saw the pain he was in they should of given him a shot of pain meds. Instead said what a couple days see how he is and gave him pain meds to take at home. Why they wouldn't give him something right away is beyond me. Never recommending this emergency clinic! Usually goto Alpine and they would have never let him suffer like that!
Expérience négative: BE WARNED OF FAKE REVIEWS!! There are lots of 5 star ratings here but some are made solely to weigh against the 1 stars and made by either the clinic or friends of it. If this clinic cared about animals as much as it did profit, they would be so much better. We took our dog in for an emergency in the evening, and while waiting for them to treat our dog (which they lied about), they were walking around "over quoting" people and talking costs as opposed to what they are actually doing with their dogs. They also said they administered pain medicine when they recommended us to give the same medicine immediately after, which makes no sense because it should be their job to administer it and to make sure our dog is healthy and not give it a second dose. There was a dog that looked like it had arthritis and they had the audacity to push for euthanasia. There are ways of mitigating the pain for arthritis in dogs, and euthanasia is NOT one of them. The negligence is beyond frustrating and I cannot even begin to say that you should stay as far away from this clinic as possible. They are looking for profit and solely out for themselves. Please go to a clinic that cares about you and especially, most importantly, your animal.
Expérience fantastique: I highly recommend this emergency vet for all your furry family members emergencies. I've visited this Vet 3 times now and they have been phenomenal. I will continue to visit this Vet for any emergency I have with my furry family members. Thank you Paramount for all you do and continue to do.
Expérience négative: We went to this vet hospital after our 14 year old dog was attacked and her lower lip ripped open. The vet examined her and told us that he would do stitches and give her pain meds. An hour and a half later they told us that they weren’t going to do the stitches as it was cosmetic and they had other dogs to take care of. I would have been fine if they had told us this from the beginning so that after the trauma of the attack she didn’t have to sit in a crate with other barking dogs for an hour and a half. Her wounds weren’t cleaned she still had the blood all over her neck and face. Also when I asked if they had given her pain medication they said that they did through IV but I should start the pain pills right away. I don’t think they even gave her the iv because there was no bandage or shaving done on her! I know that this is done every time there are IV’s or bloodwork! I think that they lied about the pain medication. When we arrived home she was in so much pain she could hardly walk and so dehydrated but could barely drink because of the injury. We made an appointment with her regular vet for proper care.
Expérience fantastique: We have taken our dog here twice for emergencies. The first time we were rushing on where to go because our girl was bleeding from her butt. The price point was much cheaper then anywhere else. Even when we called they gave us options to treat her without bringing her in. They were so kind to us and our girl when we got there. Explained what happened and what we needed to do to help her heal. The price was really affordable. The second time was just as good. Telling us what options we could go down and the price it be. They have become our dogs full vet.
Expérience fantastique: I went to Paramount after having a negative experience with another vet hospital. Paramount was very quick to get my cat in for scans and surgery, and the staff all seemed very kind and compassionate.
Expérience fantastique: So, 2 weeks ago I had to put my fluffy boy down from the very first interaction these guys were kind, compassionate and patient with me. I was uncontrollably sobbing on the phone and in person and they were so patient and never made me feel like I was a problem. The vet was amazing and very thorough and when it was time they let me have all the time I wanted with my boy, they had amazing options for memorial keep sakes and i thought it was very affordable considering i had an x-large breed dog they made all the arrangements as easy as possibel for the situation and all the payment was done upfront and went over everything I wanted and it made the process alot easier. Tens across the board would recommend this vet if I ever get another pet I would bring them here.
Expérience fantastique: HIGHLY recommend this emergency vet clinic. We had to use them a couple of times since they opened in Northland for our large dog. The staff at the front desk are welcoming and efficient. The vets we met were very thorough and took their time to patiently explain everything in detail. They are so reasonable in their fees and actually did not charge us for one visit (removed a piece of wood stuck in the back of our pets mouth that we couldn't see). Everyone we've encountered have been exceptional and compassionate. The clinic itself is exceptionally clean and beautiful.
Expérience négative: When I rushed him in sick and terrified, they would only do blood work and a ultrasound — and then immediately pushed for euthanasia. No deeper testing, no real effort to find answers. Just: “He won’t make it, put him down.” They placed me in the euthanasia room for HOURS while I sat there desperately giving my dog oxygen and praying he would fight through. Every couple of hours, someone would come in — not to offer real help, not to try anything new — but only to take his rectal temperature and heart rate then remind me again that euthanasia was “the best option.” Imagine sitting there, terrified, feeling pressured to end your dog’s life while he was still trying to hang on. When I refused to give up, I was told to sign paperwork saying I was “going against medical advice” just to bring him home alive. I was even told it would take a miracle for my dog to survive. And now, unbelievably, they are threatening me with neglect because I didn’t follow their reckless recommendation. Here’s the truth: my dog IS recovering. That “miracle” they dismissed is happening before my eyes. If I had listened to them, he would already be gone — needlessly. WARNING TO ALL PET OWNERS: Do NOT trust Paramount Vet Hospital with your animals. They gave up on my dog without even trying, pressured me for hours to euthanize him, and then tried to shame and intimidate me afterward. If they tell you euthanasia is the only option, PLEASE get a second opinion. It may save your pet’s life. Below is my dog at the vet and the second photo is 24 hours later. Cant say how thankfull i am that i didnt euthanize him.
Expérience fantastique: We are beyond grateful for the incredible team at Paramount! Our sweet Penelope was in critical condition and truly should not still be with us today, but thanks to their life-saving care and dedication, she is home with us again. From the very beginning, they kept us in constant communication. We appreciated the daily phone calls from the vet personally to update us on her condition, bloodwork, and treatment plan. Knowing exactly where she stood each day gave us so much peace of mind during such a stressful time. We were also so thankful that they allowed us to visit her once a day while she was there—it meant the world to us and to Penelope. The compassion, professionalism, and medical expertise at Paramount went above and beyond anything we could have hoped for. They truly pulled off a miracle for our dog, and we will forever be grateful for the care and effort they gave to saving her life.
Expérience négative: MAKE SURE to call and ask for their waiting time before going!!!!! when I called they lied saying they would check my dog immediately but we had to wait 5 HOURS. ASK them for the wait time, it could save your pets life. Also the inconsistent communication was ridiculous, after waiting in hour I asked the them how long it’s going to take and she told me 2 more hours. Another lie. I also asked her for an update and she had nothing to say so I thought my dog was atleast going through some treatment, turns out the whole time they had my dog with extreme anxiety just struggling for 4 hours with no treatment/medication to make him feel better.. they could have told us and atleast let us be in a room with him. Diabolical behaviour
Expérience fantastique: Paramount was the third location we contacted that would take my dog in an emergency. My dog had a serious head injury that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. Staff were quick in giving the best care to my Doberman and took her in immediately. All the staff we interacted with loved their job and truly cared about taking care of Willow. Thankfully my dog is still alive and is slowly recovering. Despite some rear end mobility issues, my dog is the same energetic and happy pup. Happy tears bringing my pup home today Special thanks to Dr. Kirby, Dr. Lange, Dr.MacQuarrie.
Expérience fantastique: Came in for our dog Rocco. Some foxtail was digested and they were super super helpful in making sure our boy was greatly taken care of. The staff were also super welcoming and informative about the procedures, medication, and processes. Thank-you so much to the amazing night staff, Dr. Sargent and Tannis clearly love their job and absolutely blew us away with the attentive care for us and our beloved pet. We are not from here so to receive just amazing feedback and care was just so amazing
Expérience négative: I have taken all my 3 dogs to this veterinary, though two of them have passed my 2 and a half yorkie still with me, and even though I felt they are extremely pricey, my last visit I was very disappointed, the vet that saw my female dog tried to get me scare that my dog had a uterus infection and she could died, she actually came in with her phone in her hand with a google search of the condition, got me to get her x rays, ultrasound, vaginal swab and after that came up to tell me she wasn’t sure but she could be at risk and died within weeks on top of the disgraceful diagnosis they gave me a $526 dllrs bill, which I paid, just for them to call days later to tell me I still owe them $86 dllrs more, I do not recommend this clinic that not only have incompetent vets but also over charges and takes advantage of people’s emotions, you pay for coming into a fancy clinic only as their service sucks and their veterinarians are not only incompetent but there to squeeze as much money as they can telling upselling you tests and service they do not actually need
Expérience négative: The urgency of my pet's situation (an exotic animal) was not taken seriously when I mentioned that he was dying and that every minute counted (leaking stool, blood, intense suffering due to his behavior). I was on the waiting list due to triage. Yet, I immediately requested, 30 minutes later, and then an hour later, that he be given something to relieve his pain and help him survive. My pet received treatment/medication two hours later, because I had requested it before going home, and he died 30 minutes later. Due to the situation and the emergency department's publicity, "Our 24-hour emergency service ensures that your pet has access to critical care when it matters most, providing peace of mind around the clock. " I feel like my pet and his needs have been truly neglected.
Expérience fantastique: I had called to ensure I was able to bring in my cat who was in medical distress, as a non-client. He was not well, and they rushed him into the back and started to see what they needed to do right away. And even though we lost our cat that day, we truly appreciated how kind and gentle the staff were. Their compassion and care made what ended up being an incredibly difficult moment a little more bearable. We're grateful for the way they handled everything with such sensitivity. The clinic is very clean and organized, lots of waiting space and parking.
Expérience fantastique: I recently had to say goodbye to my beloved cat Faithe, a 22 year old sweetheart who had been with me for half of my life. It was one of the hardest moments I have ever faced, but the team at Paramount 24 Hour Animal Hospital made the process as gentle, professional, and compassionate as possible. Even though I was an emotional mess and probably a little short at times without meaning to be, every single nurse treated me with kindness, patience, and understanding. I wish I remembered all their names because they all deserve recognition. They spoke to me with empathy, handled Faithe with such respect and care, and truly made a devastating day just a little easier to bear. If you ever have to go through the heartbreaking process of putting an animal to rest, I can assure you this is a place where you and your pet will be treated with dignity, compassion, and genuine care. Thank you to the entire team, you made an unbearable moment a little more bearable.
Expérience fantastique: Can't say enough about Dr. Chantel Brust! She was gentle and caring in her treatment of me and my border collie. She took the time to really sort through all of my questions and gave me real and direct answers that helped me to make informed decisions for my little friend. She laid out a course of treatment that has given my dog and I time for a few more wonderful memories together and I am grateful! There was a front reception lady (who was a little bit older than the rest) who had the most wonderful and kind way about her - she deserves a raise :). The facility is new and clean and the staff were caring and compassionate and I did not find that they were any more expensive than my local vet or the downtown animal hospital (both of whom I had seen the week before). But Dr. Brust - she was all I could have hoped for in a vet!
Expérience fantastique: Our family said a very quick and heartbreaking good-bye to our 12 year old Bernadoodle tonight. The people at this clinic were so kind and caring. The on call veterinarian was so compassionate when delivering the diagnosis and our options. We will be forever grateful for being able to say goodbye to her in a dignified, loving way in the private family room they provide. Thank you to everyone there for their care of our Lexi and the family she left behind.
Expérience fantastique: A month ago, I had to say goodbye to my beloved cat paramount 24 hour animal hospital. It was one of the hardest moments of my life, but the staff were incredibly gentle, compassionate, and respectful throughout the entire process. Today, a month later, I received a handwritten condolence card from them. I wasn’t expecting it, but it touched me deeply. It reminded me that my dragon was not just another patient to them—she was truly cared for, even after she was gone. Thank you for your kindness, your empathy, and for honoring the love we had for our pet. It meant more than I can say.
Expérience négative: My experience here is that they prioritize profit over your pet’s health. I brought my cat in because she vomited, had diarrhea and was lethargic. After waiting for 30’ we got a check-up, I told the doctor all the details, and he recommended blood test, xray, potentially hospitalized. Knowing my cat’s habits of eating random things and knowing an ultrasound would be most ideal, I asked if we can do that. The dr said we can first do an xray but only if the cat is hospitalized overnight that they can perform an ultrasound, and they also have to check with the sonographer to see if she has any family matters, we might also have to pay for after hour fee (it was a Thursday, aiming for a Friday, not a weekend). After 2.5hrs ish we got the result of the xray and although the dr said he couldn’t find out what’s wrong, he suggested that we admit our cat overnight, the cost for one night and an x-ray would be over $3,000 (we went to another place that costs the same with an ultrasound, check-up and a surgery that saved our cat’s life & her overnight stay). He also mentioned that our cat might die (which is very triggering for a pet owner who’s experiencing this) All the 3 hours we spent there we experienced a lot of fear, anxiety and just the bare minimum care. We paid over $600 for an xray, a talk w the doctor, laxative, food enhancer and anti nausea med. When we were about to leave, he brought us the quote for the overnight hospitalization, and then when we were about to pay, we got the same document of the quote again - made us feel like the dr was a salesman, not a vet. If you have money and you’re willing to spend big, i think PHAH would be a good place for you. I gave 2 stars because of the facility and the front desk staff. Otherwise I wouldn’t even give 1.
Expérience fantastique: I can only thank this clinic for taking care of my Koda. From the very beginning, at around 3:00 a.m., all of the staff were patient with us. My English is basic, and I was so nervous that I forgot everything. We took Koda because he had eaten some naproxen tablets. He has severe anxiety disorder, and they were extremely kind to him and very patient. I truly cannot thank the receptionist named Kailee, Dr. Elizabeth Sargeant, and Kelsey enough. They treated us (my husband, Koda, and me) with so much love and patience. They are a wonderful team. I definitely recommend the clinic, especially for overnight emergencies.
Expérience fantastique: Paramount emergency has been nothing short of amazing!! They looked after pearl my budgie whom tried to lay an egg and was bound. They did everything to they could, with such care, devotion and kindness. Pearl had passed after het check up but I am truly grateful and appreciative of paramount staff doing their best!! Thank you!!
Expérience fantastique: I had to take my elderly dog for an emergency visit at 2am and sadly had to put her down. The staff were extremely compassionate and caring and treated my sweet girl with so much love and compassion. The vet was very gentle with me as well, thoroughly explaining everything with tact and so much kindness (good bedside manner). Even though they were busy, they didn’t rush anything with us. They let me stay with her in the back for as long as I wanted and even after she took her last breath they talked to her and treated her so carefully. I got her cremated with a beautiful urn and requested her little nose prints as well (which turned out perfectly and just the way I remember her sweet little snout). A couple weeks after her passing I received the most beautiful card signed by all the staff, with thoughtful handwritten notes (not just quick signatures). It was truly comforting. I know all vets are costly and I believe this is the going rate, but my bill came to $700 for an assessment (18 lb dog), vitals, IV and euthanasia, and private cremation with engraved urn (they don’t charge any extra for 24 hour emergency services)… but just a heads up if you have to make the painstaking decision to have to do this with your pet, just be prepared for the bill (like I said though, I’m sure this is probably pretty average pricing… I just haven’t had to euthanize a pet in years so wasn’t mentally prepared for a large vet bill to say bye to my little girl). If I recall it was only about $150 more get her privately cremated and custom urn. Overall, as horrible as the situation is, I believe they made it as peaceful, gentle and loving as they could possibly be. The lady at the front desk had the most gentle and compassionate voice when explaining everything, it was so unbelievably comforting giving the situation <3 I truly felt like they were feeling everything I was going through on a personal level too — you can truly tell they all care so much about animals and peoples’ pets. Also, the vet clinic is absolutely stunning and modern — great vibes all around. Pics of of my sweet girl, 18 years apart (gosh I miss her) :(
Expérience fantastique: Traveling through Calgary and required a vet appointment my dog’s ear infection. Fantastic facility along with warm & welcoming staff. They had us taken care of and on our way in no time! 5 star clinic!
Expérience fantastique: Came here for emergency visit early saturday morning for my pup. Luckily everything was okay the staff was so kind, knowledgeable and accommodating was in and out within one hour!! Staff listened to my concerns and very empathetic and considerate. Honestly best feeling especially when you’re unsure what’s wrong with your fur baby. Facility was also nice and clean will definitely be returning in the future 10/10 recommend.
Expérience négative: They sure don’t value your time, the only thing there quick at is bringing you the debit machine! They made me tell them what time I would be here to pick up my cat but I don’t see the point considering I’ve been sitting waiting 30 min just for them to walk him out so I can leave, pretty expensive as well. nice building but it seems the staff work off there own agenda and no ur agreed appointment times, u guys are lucky, the super nice lady that brought me my cat will bring you up a star
Expérience fantastique: I brought my senior dog in for an emergency tonight thinking I may have to say goodbye to her. I was very upset but every member of the staff were so kind and compassionate. It seemed busy but they still got to us very quickly, and the bill was much less than we expected. Huge thanks Paramount for making this stressful night the best experience it could be. It’s clear how much you care about what you do
Expérience positive: I refuse to use VCA facilities. This is one of the few emergency facilities that aren't VCA. These folks are honest, reliable and trustworthy. I would not use any other emergency service in the North.
Expérience fantastique: About a week ago our snake passed a stool with blood in it around midnight, concerned, my fiance called paramount, there wasn't a reptile doctor working that late, but the crew reassured us that our snake needs to see a doctor, but gave us advice saying that if symptoms worsen, we should call them back. Then she booked us an appointment about a week later, our appointment was quick and too the point, the doctor recommended xrays, blood tests and to get the snake on fluids. She was really clear as to what was wrong and got us a quote on site. We agreed to get the tests done, which came out to just over 800$, but upon doing further research, it seems although this could have cost well over 1500 at other vets.. the staff were professional, courteous, and the appointment was reasonably priced, all things considered. Will absolutely consider bringing severus back!
Expérience fantastique: I’m quite shocked by the reviews here honestly. They were very kind to me letting me use their phone charger cause of needing to rush here early in the morning soon as I woke up. The coffee machine was nice for cappuccinos. I had a sudden tragedy here with learning my rabbit had bad cancer spread very fast after seeing the X-ray. And the staff were so kind and peaceful with the euthanasia process letting me use the room for such a long time. Thank you doctor Hennick (Sorry if I spelled it wrong)
