I was given an honest quote for future dental work on my Gracie. The only setback was Gracie didn’t offer to pay her fees, she let me do that..I always recommend your Hospital to everyone looking. Expérience négative: I was a client of Dakota Veterinary Hospital for 10 years, and after my recent experience, I will not be returning. Four years ago, my dog’s sister passed away after sudden abdominal bloating caused by heart failure, so when my dog began showing the exact same symptoms—hard, enlarged stomach—I recognized the seriousness immediately. I called Dakota, expecting urgent help from a clinic that had known my pets for a decade. Instead, I was told they were too busy and that his condition wasn’t considered an emergency. No concern, no alternatives, no effort to fit him in. I took him to the 24-hour emergency clinic, where they admitted him immediately. They placed him on oxygen, performed an X-ray, and found multiple critical issues: an enlarged heart (which Dakota had never detected), an enlarged liver, and fluid in his lungs. It was clear that his heart was failing and it was time to say goodbye. The emergency clinic handled everything with compassion and gave my family and me all the time we needed. When I contacted Dakota afterward to transfer my records, there was still no acknowledgment, sympathy, or concern—nothing. After 10 years and thousands of dollars spent there, it was incredibly disappointing to feel like my pets and my loyalty meant nothing. I’ve now moved my care.

We didn't have to wait days or weeks as he was taken in immediately and was under the watchful eye of Dr Ruhan!!!He's doing much better and I want to thank Dakota Vet for all that you do!

Expérience fantastique: Dr. Ruhlen is the best vet hands down. She is so compassionate, caring and eases both myself and my senior cat. My 18 year old cat has had some medical issues over the last couple years that without Dr. Ruhlen we would be so lost. She never pushes unnecessary tests or medication and walks us through every step along the way. Her love for animals clearly shows and she has def made some of these hurdles we had so face so much easier to manage.

It took no time to get into an exam room (which is ideal for our cats since they're very high stress), and upon Dr. Bartley's arrival for exams, she approached both our cats with fear free practices, and a pace that allowed them to calm rather than increasing stress. Dr. Bartley was so thorough, so knowledgeable, and so willing to educate and discuss the ins and outs. They also have an online store that I can order from for my one cat who is on a hypo diet. Amazing! I feel like our cats are in phenomenal hands at Dakota.

Expérience fantastique: We recently got a dog (beagle mix), she is almost 3 years old. And although we have had her for only 7 weeks now, she has become very attached to us. She gets so very upset if we have to leave her alone, or even if one of us leaves the house. Dakota Veterinary Hospital checked her over, updated her shots and gave us a prescription for anxiety. We could not have chosen a better place. They are so very good with animals, very friendly with us humans, and to us the cost was so very reasonable. I recommend this Hospital. Oh, and parking is very good.

Expérience fantastique: After moving to Winnipeg, I had 2 very bad experiences at two different vet's, and I was worried about finding a good office. I then remembered about Dakota. 11 months after moving here, my beloved 6 year old cat Little-bit, died in my arms of intestinal cancer. I hadn't planned on getting another cat for awhile, but a few days after Little-bit's death, I was told about an elderly cat (around 18-19 years old)whose elderly mum had been admitted to hospital and not expected to live. Her family took the cat, Biggy, to Dakota to be euthanized, but thankfully they refused to put down a healthy cat. They said they'd keep her and find her a home. Biggy had been living in a back room at the office for almost 5 months, and people loved her, but they didn't want such an elderly cat. I heard about her a few days after Little-bit passed, and I knew that I couldn't let her spend the end of her life there, she needed a home and a new mum. So against most people's advice, I became mummy to the renamed Miss Biggy, and we enjoyed 17 months together. I then became mum to Chewie, who had been a barn cat who was accidentally injured when a horse stepped on her, breaking her leg. It wasn't safe on the farm for Chewie anymore because of lynx, bobcats, coyotes etc, so my cousin sent her to me. She was violent and bit me badly many times, including one bite to the bone. The vet at Dakota diagnosed her with nerve damage, and a mild head injury. She's now on anti anxiety meds and a pain killer, and she rarely bites now. Dakota veterinary hospital has been great to me, but most importantly, they have cared for my my precious fur-persons in a kind and compassionate way. I recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone who is looking for a good and caring place.

However all the staff, the vet techs, the vets and secretaries have been very attentive and caring. We recently adopted a rescue and they were more than happy to accommodate my schedule and theirs to get him vaxxed and neutered in time. I appreciate the attention and attentiveness towards all of our cats. I definitely recommend bringing your pets to get the proper care and follow ups here at Dakota Vet! They walked us through everything gently and without rushing, and they treated Suzie like family right up until her final moment. It was peaceful, respectful, and full of love — exactly what you hope for when you have to say goodbye to a pet who’s been a part of your life for so long. Losing her was incredibly hard, but having a team who showed so much empathy made all the difference. I’m truly grateful for the care and compassion they gave both to her, and to us.

Expérience fantastique: I’ve been going to Dakota vet since about 2013-14. Everyone there is very friendly. Great desk staff. What I love about taking my girl there is she’s never feared this veterinarian office. She’s 14 now & the place before would be a bit of trouble to get her inside. She’d shake. She’d have massive anxiety. All the veterinarians there are great but after we started seeing Dr. Bartley she started pulling me in the doors of the vet. Hop up on the scale or grab a seat on the bench. Maybe I’ve just been lucky with my girl but there too I don’t feel like I have to take out a second mortgage to pay for my dogs care. Their pricing is almost on par as if you took your animal to a rural area vet.

Expérience fantastique: Dr. Jocelyn Beggs is a top notch Doctor and an exceptionally kind human being. We have followed her to every Vet clinic she has worked at, and Dakota is one of our favourites! Endlessly patient reception staff and skilled, caring veterinary technicians as well. Highly recommend the entire team for cradle to grave veterinary care.

Rachelle’s bubbly, gentle, animal-adoring nature, and competent skill set puts our ADHD exuberance-scale-10 dog immediately at ease making his grooming sessions manageable for him, with exceptional results for us. We’ve been long time users of Dakota Veterinary Hopsital for all our dogs and have not been disappointed yet. The care at this location is exemplary. Every staff person treats your pet like it’s the most special animal on the planet! But of course they love our dog the most. Lol. It’s well worth the effort bringing your pets for any kind of health- or maintenance- care here.

All the front staff, vet tech Cristina, and vet Dr. Ruhlen were so kind even when it got busy. We appreciate Dakota Vet so much. I was looking to speak to a vet who is knowledgeable in allergies. My dog suffers from chronic allergies and I wanted to know what I can do for him long term. Today we saw Dr. Crump and she was very friendly and informative , she took the time to explain to me about possible options for my dog. I was happy with the service, I will definitely be returning.

Expérience positive: Really strange phone call with the receptionist when I wanted to set up an appointment to euthanize my elderly, chronically ill cat. The receptionist said they wouldn’t be able to do it because my cat doesn’t have a file there (which I thought was strange since they are an animal hospital). Finally went back to ask a vet and was told that they could do it. Then the receptionist couldn’t give me an exact price, instead giving me a range of 200-300$ even with asking if she had a price list she could check. Ended up calling Bridge Water, which is where we euthanized our dog years ago. They were super knowledgeable, upfront and matter of fact with prices. Ended up making an appointment with them.

Expérience négative: My dog was a little shy during her examination and Corrie said she was of a poor temperament, unfit for breeding and needs to be fixed. Probably projecting ones own insecurities. The exam lasted all of 5 minutes and could not have been less professional.

He was taken care of promptly and we were provided with detailed information and care instructions within a short time. I really appreciate how upfront they are about costs and completely trust their integrity. I have seen many of their vets and I’m always impressed.

Expérience négative: I've been taking my dogs to this clinic for several years, and I wish had positive things to say about it. I find all the staff there to be incredibly pushy with services, and have no regard or empathy for financial situations. They will assume you are paying for the most expensive options possible, and will hardly consider that costs might be a barrier to some people. There is very little regard for customer service. I purchased a bag of dog food from them (a $180 veterinary formula) and despite it being unopened, purchased from them, and with the receipt, they would not even consider a return. I constantly feel uncomfortable and taken advantage of every time I take my dogs to this vet, and I will be taking my business to a clinic that prioritizes compassion.

Currently they have seen my 2 cats (I will bring my gecko and python here as well when they need their next check up!) Dr. Beggs is the most knowledgeable vet I have met in the city so far. She went above and beyond with explanations and care for my crazy kitties. You can tell she really loves and cares for your animals wellbeing and health. Thanks to one of the vet techs as well, my cat Casper now has the permanent nickname of the “Chunky Tiger King” lol

Expérience fantastique: I have used DVS for 2-3 years now. Not once have I had a disappointing visit or any concerns. The front staff are AMAZING. They are patient, professional, friendly and kind. The vet techs are very competent and explain things very well. They ask good questions to ensure they understand the nature of my visit. Dr. Bartley is the best! Knowledgable, understanding and very patient. I have had occasion to bring my 14yr old Bichon or my 4 month old mixed breed with a more urgent visit and seen at least two other doctors. Again, I was very impressed with them and like Dr. Bartley, always took time to discuss any health concerns. I have never felt rushed or have any concerns minimized. Tucker and Indie are both fortunate to be patients of DVS.

As this is my first cat, they took the time to answer all of my questions and even taught me how to trim his nails. Will absolutely be returning for all of Smokey’s needs!

I appreciate that they are upfront about costs so that there are no surprises and you have the choice to talk about different options if needed. I also appreciate the notifications about booking annual appointments, and find the team always answers the phone and calls back when they say they will. Overall, very happy and will continue taking my cat there for care.

Expérience fantastique: We used to take my childhood dog Maya here and they were always amazing with her and were wonderful to see right up to the end of her life. There was a time when she'd hurt her back and lost the use of her back legs and they worked with us to do physical therapy with her and she was running and jumping like normal for years after! Now I have my own dog and I switched him from the vet the rescue had him at immediately because I knew they'd be great with him too. He has some fear around being touched and they're so accommodating and sweet with him, being aware of how they handle him so he feels comfortable and safe. He had his first visit the other day and he did amazing! And the care we recieved was top notch of course. We seriously love this vet!!

Expérience fantastique: We have been taking our 10-year-old American Bulldog Lady to Dakota since we adopted her in October 2022. The staff have been excellent, and performed extensive surgery on Lady in the summer of 2023. They were very supportive during her recovery and she has been doing very well since the procedures. We highly recommend Dakota Veterinary Hospital for your pet care.

Expérience fantastique: I'll be honest- vets and hospitals aren't my favorite places however I must admit my 13 year old pup Sadie received excellent care throughout her life. She enjoyed going to Dakota Vet - got lots of good care, love, compassion and free treats. End of her life services were quiet, private and we were given all the grieving time we wanted. They made a sad, stressful moment a lot more bearable.

Larissa's service level on the text messaging service with Dakota is top notch. When she says she'll ask the Dr. to get back to me on a question or confirm something with medication - she follows through. I don't take that level of commitment and service for granted. In one of my online pre-appointment forms, I mentioned not knowing pet insurance was a thing (I was born in 2001, I'm sorry) and I left the next appointment feeling fully educated and was even given a referral to a great pet insurance place! :D They genuinely care about you and your pet here, I can't recommend this vet enough

Expérience fantastique: I am beyond happy and super grateful for having found Dr. Gould again as well as Dakota Veterinary Hospital after having to change hospitals five times for various reasons over the last 40 years. Dr. Gould treated my Miniature Schnauzer Alpha while at Best Friends Veterinary Hospital. I was extremely happy with her tremendous compassion, and excellent and professional care. My two Boston Terrier cross Pugs had their first visit for their annuals in June. Yesterday they went in for extensive dental cleaning and two extractions. I was simply overwhelmed with how gracious, friendly and attentive all of the front end manager and staff treated me, mother Lily and daughter Callie. Dr. Gould and the techs did an amazing job during the cleaning and surgery and at a cost that was quite reasonable. Both of my dogs recovered from the anesthetic and other effects quite rapidly, and today they are completely back to their normal selves - except that their food has to be softened. I extend my warmest solid gold thanks and enormous gratitude for literally saving my furbabies from having to be put down.

Expérience fantastique: Dakota Vet has been amazing. Recently switched from Pembina Vet and really happy we made the change. All the staff have been super friendly and made both our dogs feel really comfortable. Dr. Bartley was fantastic, she made our very shy and hesitant bulldog feel at ease.

Expérience fantastique: Dakota Vet is very caring and shows genuine compassion for my dog Tucson. He had minor surgery lately and they forgot to take out one of the stitches. Disappointed as no one took accountability for this error. I got a call from their administrator regarding this review. We had a nice conversation and she was very interested in my issue. Dr Gould is the best and I will continue to take my dog to Dakota vet.

The team is friendly and helpful and my dog is totally at ease there -- which has not always been the case at other clinics. Appointments at Dakota are never rushed and I always feel heard when explaining any concerns about my dogs health. Lastly, the pricing is always well-explained and reasonable which is just a bonus on top of the great care. Keep up the good work!

Expérience fantastique: As many others have already said, going to the vet can be very stressful. Our 1 year 4 month old dog is a stress bag and Dr B & staff ease their way into the visit. They ensure that the visit is a positive experience even if that means them getting on the floor to their level. Always has great feed back and suggestions and isn't quick to push product. This clinic truly has the animals health in mind and not just money like most other vets. We have 3 dogs and refuse to go anywhere else! :) thank you!!

Expérience fantastique: My dog has been a “patient” here for a year and a half and has had kennel cough and canine papillomas. He has also been neutered at the clinic. They have been wonderful with him for everything he’s been through. The doctors are great, desk staff is great, as well as the assistants and techs! I find the pricing for everything has been fair. I’ve had no complaints and suggests all my friends to see them.

They always go above and beyond to make sure my dog leaves with a positive experience no matter what the visit is for. He is always so excited to go in and see everyone. Expérience fantastique: My experience here was very short-lived because unfortunately I had to put my pet hedgehog down but the care we received was exceptional. Matcha became very ill very quickly and the only veterinary hospital that was able to squeeze her in was Dakota. They made her a priority by ensuring to push our appointment forward whenever a slot was open and I am very grateful for that. Dr. Gould and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that she was doing well with calls/texts about updates. They even went as far as sending us a nice card! Dakota Vet has been very knowledgeable, compassionate, and caring because they understand that it was a very difficult experience for us. I would 100% recommend Dakota Veterinary Hospital because not only do they demonstrate care for the animals, but they also show the greatest concern and sympathy for their owners. We've always felt taken care of from the moment we stepped inside—I would like to give them a big thank you as well.

They've been there for so many of my pets...from the routine, to scary health concerns, to our last moments with them (I want clarify too that "our" means my family but them). Expérience fantastique: My husband and I recently adopted a puppy from MUR. This rescue is associated with Dakota Vets and for good reason. We have had nothing but a great experience with this veterinary hospital. From the moment you walk in you feel taken care of. After our pup's surgery there was a follow up phone call and a follow up text. I have talked a couple of times with out vet, Dr. Gould, and she is wonderful. All my questions and concerns were handled in a caring professional manner. We will be staying with the vet even though it is a little bit of a drive for us. Thanks!

Expérience fantastique: Going to the vet can be quite a stressful experience, especially for our Mercedes, who is not quite used to all the new dogs and scents in a strange place. We loved the special attention given to our girl. The staff did everything possible to make her feel safe and cared for, which is very much appreciated. I got regular updates, he was treated like family and the invoice was very reasonable. Honestly it is the best decision you will ever make for your pet. Just trust me!

They are very kind and have an clear love for the animals in their care. My first experience with them was the best experience I have had with any Vet and will be proud to keep them as my main Vet from here forward.

Expérience fantastique: I called them because my regular vet couldn't get my cat in for a couple days and she was getting very sick. The receptionist spoke to the vet directly and they squeezed me in an hour later. Dr. Gould was amazing with explaining everything and answering my questions, and the vet tech Meaghan sent me a picture of my cat all comfy and wrapped up in a blanket while I had to wait in the car. Super happy with the care they give and will be going back.

I have brought both my own large, animal reactive dog to this location, and numerous dogs from a rescue that I work with. No matter the dog nor the situation they are always so kind, knowledgeable, helpful, and caring. I really feel like they care about the animals they work with and understand the love we as humans have for our pets. I would highly recommend this place!

Expérience fantastique: We have been bringing our ferocious chihuahua mix Ernie to Dakota for about one year. He is not good around strangers, and does not make it easy for the staff. However, they always smile and do a great job with him, and really care about his health. Dr. Vonderbank especially is so good with him and is such a kind person. My wife works long hours, so we appreciate that they are open evenings and Saturdays. Overall, we love Dakota and would highly recommend it!

Expérience fantastique: Dr Bartley is the best vet in the city, I'm convinced. I have a hundred pound rescue who is terrified of the vet, and can be dangerous when worked up. Dr Bartley and her team always go above and beyond to get us in and out quickly, safely, and with the least trauma possible for our dog. They clearly care so deeply for every pet and person who comes through their doors. I'd happily pay through the nose for that kind of care, but it's also shockingly affordable. I'll never leave, there's no one else I would trust with her care.
