Services
Transcona Veterinary Hospital: Avis
Expérience négative: Would give zero if possible-watch out for Dr.K as the clinic has gone downhill since he took over- unprofessional chaos! Dr.K is a money grubber who really doesn’t even like animals!! Do not take your beloved pets here as the care and respect are non-existent!!
Expérience fantastique: We have always had a good experience here, we will continue to go here right and support this institution as long as it remains privately owned. Thank you for taking such good care of our little family members.
Expérience fantastique: Truly the best vet clinic in Winnipeg! All the vets are wonderful, especially Dr. Nitychoruk, who takes such great care of our very anxious pup. Their pricing is also very fair, and I'm grateful they get us in for last minute appointments as needed. The doctors truly care about the animals at this clinic, and it shows.
Expérience positive: Fantastic job with my animals.
Expérience négative: Horribly rude. Give wrong information. Not compassionate.
Expérience négative: the first time i took my dogs there the experience was great with the vets, but the receptionist have always been rude and i believe thats the first impression on clinic, anytime i’ve tried to contact or email, i have always felt embarrassed or shamed to talk to anyone on the phone there, made rude comments or even made me seem like i was stupid and asking dumb questions
Expérience fantastique: Friendly, efficient, and helpful staff at a fraction of the cost of an emergency vet. I wouldn’t take my pets anywhere else.
Expérience négative: Tried to book my dog in to see a vet due to his knee. The receptionist really seemed to be pushy on me going elsewhere, seemed like a chore to make a file for me. I hung up on her, terrible customer service. Lost out on a knee surgery
Expérience fantastique: Always so kind and helpful. They all genuinely care about all our pets ❤️
Expérience fantastique: Kind and welcoming place! April is a gem.
Expérience fantastique: It was a Very Respectful experience. They were quick to respond to the needs of my pet.
Expérience fantastique: Brought my bunny here to be cremated, it was a sensitive thing for me as I had him for 9 years and he was my first pet. They were so kind and even got his paw prints for me, anyone who knows rabbits knows it's very hard to get paw prints that look decent, so I really appreciated this.
Expérience fantastique: I brought my dog here as the current vet I took him took couldn’t help with with a emergency and told me to “just go to Pembina vet” the staff at transcona vet we SO accommodating, and we’re able to squeeze me and my chihuahua in last minute to inspect a dental issue we were having. We will be visiting this vet from here on out.
Expérience négative: I recently went back through my older reviews and felt it was important to revise my original 5-star rating for this clinic, as my overall experience changed significantly over time. I want to preface this by saying the clinic itself deserves 4 or 5 stars, but my personal experience deserves a 2. I had been bringing my cat here for a couple of years to see Dr. Marnie, as my cat was dealing with stomatitis. In the beginning, I really appreciated the care we received - Dr. Marnie made an effort to accommodate my situation as a student with limited finances, often doing quick check-ins without charging for visits. My cat did show some improvement during that time, though it required long-term use of Prednisone, a steroid. However, during our final appointment, I expressed concern that it might be time to consider dental surgery, as my cat appeared to be in pain again. I had done a lot of research and understood that extraction is often the only long-term solution for stomatitis. The response I received felt dismissive: something along the lines of, “If you really want to put her through that, we can, but I don’t think it’s necessary. It’s your call I guess.” She seemed annoyed that I was requesting this and made me feel like I was going to cause unnecessary stress and pain to my cat doing the surgery. Shortly afterward, my cat developed a large lump on her neck. I decided to seek a second opinion elsewhere, where they performed X-rays and found that her molars were severely decayed - rotted at the roots with visible holes. The lump turned out to be an abscess from an infected tooth. She underwent surgery to have the affected molars removed and was given antibiotics. The new clinic also advised that my cat should never have been on Prednisone for two years without regular bloodwork (every 6 months was recommended, annually at minimum). I recall asking Marnie how I would know if the medication was affecting her organs and being told, “You’ll see blood in the litter box.” Looking back, I find that incredibly alarming. No routine blood testing was ever suggested - it was essentially a “wait until it's too late” approach. Since then, I have switched to Birchwood, and saw a vet who specializes in dental work. My cat has now had most of her teeth removed (with the exception of a few healthy ones) and is now off steroids entirely. She's like a brand new cat - happier, more active, and eating normally. While I do think this clinic tries to offer affordable care and genuinely wants to help animals, I believe that in my case, that effort led to a serious oversight. It felt like the focus was on managing symptoms cheaply rather than truly resolving the underlying issue, and my concerns were regularly dismissed. And while I can’t speak to the other vets at the clinic, I do feel the one we were seeing made decisions that, in hindsight, put my cat’s health at risk. I also did have a negative experience with one of the receptionists who was insanely rude - my appointment time had been changed last minute apparently, and I wasn't aware, and she told me it wasn't her problem that I don't check my voicemails. The doctor ended up still squeezing in time for me. That said, I know others who bring their pets here and have had very positive experiences. I don’t think the clinic is operating in bad faith, and I still respect that they try to keep care accessible. So many other clinics in the city are only focused on draining your wallets. This is not a bad clinic by any means and I would still take my animals here if my regular vet wasn’t available. Mostly, I wanted to write this review so Marnie can be aware of what happened in Kitty’s situation - maybe it will change the way she treats this condition in the future.
Expérience fantastique: Been going here for many years with many of my animals. 100% the best place to bring your babies and feel safe. They can get really busy at times but that comes with being a great place you can trust. I went to another hospital a year ago in a weekend panic and it was a huge mistake..never again. TVH is the best!
Expérience fantastique: I drive across the city to see my Dr here. Best service and care.
Expérience fantastique: I've had a great experience over the past couple of years since moving to Winnipeg. The doctors are incredible, and most of the receptionists have also been wonderful. However, the receptionist I just spoke with over the phone was extremely rude and impatient. She was pushy, kept interrupting me, and made me feel like I didn’t care about my dog. Typically, the receptionist confirms my phone number and my dog’s name when booking an appointment. This time, she just said “okay” and hung up without confirming anything—now I have to call back and check if the appointment was actually booked. People call in when their pets are experiencing health problems because they genuinely care. She was also trying to diagnose my dog over the phone! Even a vet would have to see my dog physically to assess the condition. There she goes trying to diagnose my dog and tell me to go to another hospital. How can you let your staff do this!? mind blowed. At the end of the day, it’s the pet owner’s decision to make, not the receptionist’s place to judge. Hire someone who show empathy and understand the importance of compassionate communication!
Expérience fantastique: great Vets! been going for years.
Expérience fantastique: First time there. The Vet Dr. Nitchoruk was awesome. But I'll never go back due to the rudest receptionist I've ever spoken to. I've been going to vets for over 30 years and never run into someone that rude. Don't know her name. It was a weekend, short and probably in her 50s. That was enough for me to never go back. The other receptionists are great. 5 stars for the Vet. Zero for her
Expérience fantastique: We've brought our little guy Nash there for a couple surgeries now, and this is the only place we will ever take him. They're great with him, easy to book over the phone and extremely helpful both before and post care. They really care. The most important, Nash always goes through that front door with his tail wagging and leaving when we come pick him up.
Expérience fantastique: This is a very trustworthy veterinary clinic. We highly trust the vets and staff at this clinic. We’ve had a cat and a dog as patients here for years and had great experiences with past vets. Recently my cat had taken a turn. This time we had Dr. Jimenez who was very caring and patient in explaining what was wrong with my cat and what my options were. She was honest and kindhearted. She never made me feel rushed. She also very carefully explained what the costs would be for each option. Thank you for making a tough time feel easier.
Expérience négative: The doctors are not interested in working with clients. Constantly upselling unnecessary diagnostic work, treatments, “preventions”. When asking for explanations and justifications, it’s stuttering word salad. When pointing out contradictions or questioning logic, it’s back peddling and salesman tactics. They give you an explanation, then say they need more tests. But you already told me you couldn’t find anything when you did the test last time? Insisting on multiple exam fees in short periods. Insisting on higher cost diagnostic work for the same issue. After multiple visits, the issue isn’t resolved and they continue asking for more money after multiple failed appointments. Really transparent upselling, preying on customer ignorance, finding any way to squeeze money from you.
Expérience fantastique: I like Dr. Jen Michaud. Very smart and compassionate.
Expérience négative: I’m very disappointed with the front desk experience at Transcona Veterinary Hospital. I called with a few basic questions about transferring my dog’s medical records and was met with a rude and unprofessional attitude from the receptionist. At one point, I even heard her say “Oh God!” in response to one of my questions — as if I had asked something inappropriate or bothersome. As a client, I expect respectful and helpful communication, especially from the first point of contact. If someone doesn’t enjoy working with the public, that frustration should not be taken out on customers. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect courtesy and patience when calling a veterinary clinic. This kind of attitude really makes it hard to trust that I or my pet will be treated with care and respect.
Expérience négative: Doctors are great, receptionist- not so much. I’ve had multiple experiences calling the clinic with concerns or emergencies, and unfortunately, the receptionist has been consistently rude. This has happened not just once or twice, but several times. It's hard to even explain what’s going on without feeling like I'm being dismissed or met with silence. For example, she answers with a "Transcona Veterinary Hospital" and then goes completely quiet after you say "hi there", making the whole call feel awkward and rushed from the start, especially when you have to explain a situation with your pet. I understand it can get busy, and I want to be fair, there are some great staff at the front desk, and the doctors themselves are fantastic. But this one individual really affects the experience in a negative way and I'm sure staff all know who this one individual is. Perhaps sick of dealing with people, might be worthwhile to get someone better on the phone and if she's a valuable employee, give her a job where she doesn't interact with customers. It's bad for morale to have someone like that around all the other great staff at the clinic. I've contemplated leaving, but the doctors are keeping us.
Expérience négative: I really tried to like this vet when it was recommended by a friend, I even switched vets that I’ve been going to for 7 years to try it out. While the vets and vet assistants are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, the biggest downfall of this place is their reception staff. I’m a pretty understanding person and brush off rude behavioural as “they’re having a bad day”, but every single time I’ve had to come in to this vet I’ve never had a good experience with their reception staff especially over the phone. Further customer service training will really help this vet out and maybe then I can try it again but ultimately, I think it’s best to return to my old vet because of how often this is happening. It was a good year going here but it really is unfortunate that this has not been addressed by management as by reading other reviews, this has been an ongoing issue for years.
Expérience fantastique: First visit with my extremely anxious dog and the vet was fabulous. She understood what was going on and made some recommendations for him to go on a "cool" Protocol which is great for my dog, as he struggles with vet visits. She didn't try to force an interaction with him and let him calm down a bit. Looking forward to continuing with this vet
Expérience négative: Had the worse experience with the receptionist with bluish hair. I am new to this Vet! I just wanted to pick up meds prescribed by Dr.Machaud as I was told to come back at Heartworm time. I asked the receptionist to check my file as I was told to just drop in and get them . The way I was treated by this woman was just downright stressful and disrespectful. I kept saying, I just want to pick up the meds the Doctor prescribed at last Appt. The room was packed and I was not getting what I needed as she was trying to upsell me testing, tick meds and everything but want I wanted. I left with Heartworm meds much more expensive and not what was prescribed . Very disappointing experience…
Expérience négative: Just got off of the phone with them. The receptionist was incredibly pushy, constantly cutting me off as Im trying to explain my situation. Although I understand you may have been busy, but when a concerned owners is calling, the least they want to feel is rushed and not listened to. Didn't even get the opportunity to experience what the doctors are capable of due to the incompetence of their front desk staff..
Expérience négative: I have been brining various pets here for over twenty years and I have to say the vets here are all amazing and caring individuals. Unfortunately the staff they have behind the counter, answering phones and checking guests in are horribly rude and incompetent. While trying to make an appointment I've been put on hold for over twenty minutes (eventually I just hung up as no one ever got back to me), and "accidentally" hung up on twice. When checking in for an appointment I've stood at the counter for ten minutes while a phone call was dealt with, so I'm not quite sure shat their priorities are... I think they change depending on their mood, or whichever task they feel will be the least amount of work for them. If medication is prescribed by the vet you will have to remind them, as they always forget to gather it and give it to you. My current dog is on a specific food that is ordered through the vet and I've had to call multiple times to get the food ordered as one secretary in particular seems to be incapable of doing her job. Unfortunately, no matter how good the vets are I feel like it's time to find somewhere else with more competent, capable support staff.
Expérience fantastique: Dr Jenn and Maria are the the best! They take care of your pets and are also pet lovers. Can't recommend them enough!
Expérience positive: I’ve always been very happy with the care my pets receive from the veterinarians at this clinic. They are kind, professional, and thorough, and I fully trust them with my animals’ health. However, my experience with the administrative staff has often left me feeling frustrated or anxious. For example, when I booked a teeth cleaning appointment for my dog, I was repeatedly told it was for a tooth extraction, even after I clarified multiple times. This caused unnecessary stress, and it was only after speaking to a vet directly that I got the clarity and reassurance I needed. I was also unable to get an approximate cost from the front desk, which made things more complicated than they needed to be. More recently, I had a confusing and disorganized experience ordering tick prevention medication. I placed the order ahead of time and was told it would be ready that afternoon. When I arrived, I was asked to pay right away. Only after I had paid did the staff check the drawer and realize they only had part of my order. They had charged me for an item they did not even have in stock. They refunded that amount and charged me again for the part they could give me. During this process, the staff member at the desk began blaming their colleagues for the confusion. I found that unprofessional. I was already frustrated, and I did not need to hear internal blame or conflict. The next day, I was told my order was ready, but when I came in, it was just the same partial order from the day before. It turned out the missing item had not even been ordered yet. Two days later, I called to check on the status and found out it had finally arrived, but no one had contacted me. While I will continue to come here for the excellent veterinary care, I hope the clinic can improve communication, accountability, and organization at the front desk. It would make a big difference in the overall experience.
Expérience fantastique: Our father takes his dog here. Thank you for caring for him. Camper says thank you so so much!
Expérience positive: This clinic came highly recommended from a family member. I called the clinic this morning to inquire about a vaccination & check-up appointment for our dog as we just moved to the area a few months ago. The receptionist was quick to cut me off, informing me they had no appointments available until August (it’s currently May). I had to interrupt her saying goodbye to me to ask about a cancellation list; she said they didn’t have one, and swiftly hung up. I called Plessis Vet, which is much closer to us, and got an appointment for tomorrow morning. Night and day customer service.
Expérience fantastique: Our Vet Dr. Marnie Pisclevich and her staff are wonderful. They go above and beyond and we are incredibly appreciative of them all. Thank you for creating a place where we feel as welcome in the waiting room as we do in the exam room and heading out the door.
Expérience fantastique: We have had many animals (cats & dogs) and this hospital is by far the best we've ever been to. I won't bring any of my animals anywhere else. All of the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and caring.
Expérience fantastique: Excellent service and staff! Dr. Jen Michaud is a kind, knowledgeable, and empathetic veterinarian.
Expérience fantastique: My foster pup has had many issues that have brought us to Transcona vet a few times over the last month or so. And they have been absolutely wonderful with answering questions, booking appointments, checking in after surgery, giving detailed post op care. This place is a little far for me but I’ll 100% be coming back here with my own pets.
Expérience fantastique: Staff are all knowledgeable, friendly, and caring. My dog gets the best care here! Highly recommend
Expérience fantastique: Dr millar sees my chihuahua he’s one of the best vets I have came across here in Winnipeg
Expérience fantastique: 5 star review for April! We spoke on the phone briefly and she made my day just by being kind!
Expérience fantastique: This has been our regular vet for 2 years now, we’ve met two of the doctors there and both are REALLY good. They genuinely care about your animals here. Initially we brought her in due to an emergency, I think we brought her in on a Friday and they scheduled her tooth surgery for the following Monday. They have continued to care for my Pouffay, and we will only go to this vet after going to a few others in the city! It’s also important to note that they have not been purchased by Vet Strategy and when looking into veterinarians you should search this up, lots of vets in Winnipeg are owned by vet strategy and your pet doesn’t stand a chance at those places. Support vets like this one we travel across the city just to go there!
Expérience fantastique: Wouldn't want anybody else taking care of my babies. These people truly love and bond with your pet and that extra little bit of care when you're worried or freaked out means so much ! They go the extra mile l!
Expérience fantastique: Super kind caring staff. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended it!
Expérience fantastique: My cat had surgery here. Everything from initial assessment to recovery was excellent.
Expérience fantastique: Booked first appointment here for my 4 yr old dog who started having seizures. He had one as we entered the doors at the vet. The staff here all dropped everything to help assist & bring my dog into an exam room. Some even stayed in the room with us and checked on me as well. They were patient, kind & explained everything, even in a hurry to administer medications to my dog. They could not get blood work done so we had to come back after the weekend. I was not charged for a 2nd visit, just the blood work. Prices were reasonable! We will continue going here because of the way they handled our emergency situation. Thanks so much to the staff & Dr Jen!
Expérience négative: The Doctors here were very kind but my story simply did not have a happy ending as a result of bad choices and decisions. This is what I learned. 1. If you're considering using LIBRELA, do your own research on the medication with respect to their clinical trials and know the risks involved. Ask for bloodwork to be done to make sure it is suitable for your pet with respect to their existing conditions. 2. If you are considering admitting your pet to the hospital in their palliative stage for whatever reason, know that the hospital is NOT staffed over night or on Sundays. 3. If your pet is in their palliative stage and you prefer to have them at home and cost is not a factor, just know that no matter how much confusion or grief you may be experiencing, *** REMEMBER *** to ASK (should it not be offered or suggested) for an end of life comfort kit which would include meds that would keep your pet comfortable at home so that it doesn't have to have seizures, spasms, pain, labored breathing and howling. This kit will keep them comfortable so that you can make final arrangements (i.e. euthanasia in your home). They give similar meds to humans when they choose to die at home. All the best !!!
Expérience fantastique: Called this morning for a emergency visit as my cat wasn't eating & acting off. Receptionist booked me in as a walk in. My cats usual provider, Dr Nitychoruk, wasn't in so we instead saw Dr. Jen Michaud, she was great. Very thorough and informative, showed me the blood + urine results & explained the results individually. Very compassionate when telling me that my cat had kidney disease, offered some short term options but I chose to euthanize as no actual cure. She was just wonderful, everyone was. I couldn't have asked for better support in that moment Could honestly not ask for a better vet office, will continue to come here when I'm ready for a new pet.
Expérience fantastique: my dog gets great treatment here! a few days after his TPLO surgery, a staff member took the time to call me and check on him and his recovery. little gestures like that show they care about your animals!
Expérience fantastique: They are fantastic! Very transparent, cost conscious, and each of them are caring. I never have to wait long and my animal and I are always greeted warmly.
Expérience fantastique: From check in to day after care was detailed, informative, and caring. Very thoughtful and kind people working hard to keep animals healthy and well. Dr. Skakun did an amazing job.
Expérience fantastique: Transcona Vet has been a godsend for me and my girl. My primary vet is Dr. Michaud who is a fabulous doctor, kind and no BS. My dog went in for heart testing on Thursday and Friday and I had answers by Friday evening. The vets, as well as all the other kind and caring staff deserve more than 5 stars for the hard work that they do. Thank you, from Michelle and Charlie for all that you do!
Expérience positive: I recently had a disappointing experience at this clinic when a family member brought their pet in for a follow-up after surgery. The receptionist, Kerri (or Carrie), was extremely rude and dismissive during the visit, which made an already stressful situation worse. On top of that, she forgot to give the prescribed pain medication and antibiotics for the pet after the initial surgery, which is a serious oversight and resulted in an emergency vet visit at another clinic. I’ve also seen other reviews mentioning similar experiences with this receptionist. It’s unfortunate because the vet here is amazing and provides excellent care, but the initial interaction with staff, especially at such a critical moment, really affects the overall experience. I hope the clinic addresses this issue, as first impressions matter and we truly want to see them continue providing great care.
Expérience négative: I brought our dog in for xray to do puppy count. When I asked the vet what she thought would be expected due date she replied I am likely better at that then she was. She said they don’t pre book c sections but 2 years ago for our other dog we had a pre planned c section. With Dr. skaken. We loved the extra care and compassion from the whole team. Dr. Nitychoruk made me feel as if she had no care or compassion and told me to use the nearest emerg vet. I came back to the clinic as they made me feel very welcomed and confident for the other c section and vet visits. The reception staff were very good and excited to see us back. We will not be bringing our dogs to see her again! Our dog is in for emerg c section costing us $4000 thanks to Dr. Nitychoruk for refusing to book a planned c-section!
Expérience fantastique: I've been taking my dog there since we first got him earlier this year, and I truly have had nothing but incredible experiences each time I've had to bring him in. The whole team is kind, caring, compassionate, and treat my little guy like their own. Thank you to the whole Transcona Vet team!
Expérience négative: Tried to have my 2 cats as new patients with them. I am temporarily low on funds at this time. Transcona Vet did create a file for my cats over the phone. I also already confirmed they had all the vet records for both. At first I was confident with the appointment I booked as I thought I had help with the vet bill. Once I found out I didn't I called back to cancel very sadly. Then I had a friend that could help. All my friend needed to know was a estimated cost everything and anything that could be charged. Just so it is all covered. Any difference would have immediately gone back to my friend and then what ever I owed them we would have arranged something. So I call back about what the vet bill could be estimated at. They tell me pretty much only the exam fee. They did not know what estimated charges could be for x-ray's. I wanted also to know what shots my cats already needed so I would know the estimated charges for that too. They kept saying they don't know what shots they would have taken for them to know what they could charge. I said they have all the previous records. Also asked if we couuld check so we can both be on the same page. They said they didn't have them when I already sent over a couple months ago. And others ones today. They find them all eventually. So overall, with such bad communication they were starting to give me rudeness and attitude. I had to call back to ask and confirm to have all my records and profile off their system. Because of all the rudeness and awful phone communication and lack of knowledge with ALL the estimated costs. Just only some they know. It's seems quite unprofresional here at this Vet Hospital for the receptionists. The second last call I asked for the last time if all my records can be deleted from the system and profile then came to a point in the call where we couldn't communicate well and even though I already mutually agreed with this person on the phone to stop and listen and she ended up saying " No, I will not be doing that" with sarcastic attitude and hung up. I called one last time for the simple request again and they flat out said to me I am not a patient with them especially because I cancelled the appointment and stuff. But they confirmed from before they have the previous records and they have my 2 cats in the system already prior to making the appointment in the first place. Went with the vet on Plessis instead. Best decision I made. So much better and friendlier service. Also cheaper and easily answered all my questions and set me up with a file and appointment no problem. Just so everyone knows. Last update: The Manager did contact me back with clear clarification and listened to me as well. In conclusion, I asked her if the team could be spoken to and have improvement in the future for future clients and also on-going clients. As I mentioned to her this is a on-going occurance as there are 7 other reviews or more in the last 3 rmonths or in general to confirm this is an actual on-going issue from past to oresent. Thank you.
Expérience positive: Doctor’s 5 stars, Front office staff 1 star. We are long time clients of this hospital and the doctor’s are amazing and have cared for our Belgium Malinois Lucy for many years. My husband always took her for her visits and we kept driving to Transcona even though we moved out by Unicity. In early May Lucy started having an issue with control over her back legs and I called for an appointment as my husband was away for 2 weeks. I couldn’t get in until after he got back. I secured the appointment and hoped the issue would resolve itself. It got worse and I had to get an appointment at another clinic. She needed a doctor’s attention. I called back to ask for Lucy’s medical records to be sent to the new clinic so they could understand her history and medications ( she’s almost 13) . The woman on the phone said she would have to get the doctor’s permission to release the records. After a short conversation about this approval process, she led me to believe that it was possible that he would not release the records. At this point I got emotional as I had a very sick dog, I wasn’t super familiar with all her meds and this woman was really rude. I ended the call asking her to call me when the doctor agreed to share her medical history so I would know before her appointment. That call never came. We loved this vet but won’t be going back. When we really needed the front office staff to be compassionate, they were rude. The new vet helped our dog get better and the entire team there was wonderful. The most important people in your organization are the ones to first to interact with your client’s. That creates the first impression of the clinic. I think there is some work to do here.
Expérience négative: Some front reception staff are SOOO... rude & insensitive! Definitely in the wrong line of work. Zero compassion. When I called sobbing to speak to my Vet, as it was literally a life and death emergency, sadly my baby girl had to be euthenized just hours later, I was hung up on by a certain staff member! I was in complete shock, I couldn't believe what had just happened! I was already an emotional mess crying uncontrollably and now I was left listening to a dial tone!!!!! I've tolerated the rudeness of some of the front staff in person or over the phone in the past, but this was the straw that broke the camels back! I had no choice but to call back as I needed emergency medical help for my very ill cat who had a procedure done at the clinic just a couple of days earlier, but never recovered from the anesthesia. When I was at my most vulnerable and profoundly scared for my babies welfare this is how I was treated by this staff member. Then her colleges seem to rally around her and then you are treated poorly by all front staff if you have to call the clinic. I spoke to the manager and to another Veterinarian about my experience, who were very kind & caring & immediately concerned for my babies medical condition. They both apologized profusely regarding how I had been treated by this staff member. I was absolutely traumatized by my experience with her and she absolutely made an already devastating time incredibly worse. The manager said she would be spoken to about the event. But I'm doubtful if there were any real consequences for her actions. Her behavior was over the top inexcusable, but I'm certain it's business as usual for her. At the very least, if she was in any way remorseful for what she said and did that day I should have received at least a phone call from her apologizing for her behavior and the needless pain and suffering she caused us by her thoughtless, unempathetic actions. The staff is supposed to be able to deal with clients in a kind, caring and respectful way especially when they are at here most vulnerable. An Epic fail on this staff members part to provide any compassion! It's the front staff of any business who make or break a business as they are the face of the business. They are the first people we as clients interact with in person or over the phone. So ultimately it doesn't matter how great a business is if clients are mistreated at the first point of contact. It's a great way to lose existing clients or be an obstacle to acquiring new ones. I sadly lost three furry babies previously over the last 30 years while being a loyal client of 30 years at Anderson Animal Hospital, where my experience at this terribly painful time was like night and day by comparison. Fyi, I referred to this person as a staff member because she knows who she is and I'm sure others do as well!
Expérience fantastique: I accidently gave my cat the wrong medication. She was in rough shape. The vet tech was very unerstanding and helpful. The vet, a male not sure of his name was excellent. My cat survived. The vet called the next day to follow up. He was very knowlegable. The visit was way less expensive then i was expecting. 5/5 ecpirience!
Expérience fantastique: The kindness, care, and professionalism shown to me every time my cat and I had to attend, and most especially when I had to put my cat down last week, has been exemplary and beyond compare.
Expérience négative: Went to Transcona Vet to say goodbye to our cat of 17 years. Talked multiple times about taking paw prints, asked again before leaving and they said they do it afterward. Well they didn't. Now we can never get that back. Even when trying to book the appointment the receptionist I spoke to sounded like a junior high student and wasn't able to elaborate on the options they had available for Urns or anything else, and couldn't seem to understand that I couldn't hear a word she was saying because her colleagues were basically yell talking over her shoulder. I've never had a good experience here when compared to other Vets. Look elsewhere, triple confirm everything with them if you have to deal with them.
Expérience fantastique: Transcona Veterinary Hospital has been our choice for many years. They have cared for 5 of our dogs, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. All of the vets, techs, and staff are kind, caring, smart, and provide excellent care. We highly recommend any of the vets there.
Expérience fantastique: We have been taking our labrador to Transcona vet from past 3 years for routine check up / vaccination. Dr. Millar is very professional and knowledgeable, always answer all questions patiently. Thanks for taking care of Abby.
Expérience négative: The receptionist by the name of April is the absolute worst person to have onboard at this clinic. Every phone conversation I have had with her she had cut me off, talked to me as if i am stupid and incompetent and used a very stern unnecessary tone while giggling with a smug sounding smile. As a worried and fearful per owner that is calling a clinic with concerns, we are looking for kind empathic and knowledgable people on the other side to guide us through difficult moments in our pets life. April made this whole experience with my sick 15 year old beautiful cat 100% worse. I am not sure what makes her think that she has the right to speak to people this way, but reading other reviews I know I am not the first and unfortunately wont be the last... April if you're reading this, I hope you are enjoying your bag of crackers in front of your monitor and please reconsider how you treat others.
Expérience fantastique: Dr K is the BEST! He is so kind and concerned about the animals and tried really hard to save my little Boston Terrier Russell with numerous geriatric doggie problems. I would not hesitate to recommend this vet clinic as the staff are super professional and considerate. It’s obviously a great clinic, but Dr K is the cherry on top of an already fantastic facility. My new dog Shelby does not enjoy going to the doctor, but they make it as easy on her as possible.
Expérience fantastique: Good vet, never had an issue, my last dog had major surgery there and it is a grest
Expérience fantastique: Transcona vet was absolutely fantastic. Our dog had a botched surgery and they were able to look at my dog and get him in for surgery. I can't thank them enough and will never have anything bad to say.
Expérience fantastique: We brought our elderly sick cat in to see Dr Marnie and she was amazing. Very helpful and compassionate while being honest and straightforward about our situation. I highly recommend Transcona Veterinary Hospital and, in particular, Dr Marnie!
Expérience fantastique: Our grief is still so fresh but we wanted to express our gratitude to the staff at Transcona Veterinary Hospital. They showed us compassion, patience and understanding when we had to put our beloved family member Dakota down. They provided care and support in the day leading to our appointment which was important to me in keeping my fur baby calm. Thank you for all you do for our family pets.
Expérience fantastique: I really can’t say enough, Dr. Marnie is amazing! Have been bringing my dogs and cats here for years. Honest, caring and compassionate. Highly recommend
Expérience fantastique: Our dog, Scout, developed a deep corneal ulcer and it has been painful for her and very stressful for us. Dr. K helped tremendously. To say that he went above and beyond is an understatement. He diagnosed the problem and has just been so helpful through this. Definitely recommend Dr. K and Transcona Veterinary Hospital.
Expérience fantastique: Been bringing our dog here for the last 12 yrs. Exceptional service, great vets and staff.
Expérience fantastique: dr. ann was very accomodating and pleasant. very nice and professional clinic. receptionists were attentive and courteous. 5⭐ and
Expérience fantastique: My daughter came in just before closing time with a badly injured cat. The staff and doctor were excellent, compassionate, and caring. Everything was explained clearly. I can't say enough good things about everyone there, thank you.
Expérience fantastique: They always provide great care to all of my animals. They’re treatment is conservative and they only recommend what’s actually needed.
Expérience fantastique: My dog got great care during 3 surgeries, including a limb amputation.
Expérience fantastique: Very pleased with the service I received at Transcona Vet. It was worth the drive from Charleswood to go there. Highly recommended
Expérience fantastique: Our first visit with Gus. Nice facility, very clean and organized, the staff was great ! Gus said he's looking forward to his next visit.
Expérience fantastique: Very happy with this vet and clinic! We see Dr. B regularly and really like her approach and demeanor. She was able to help our 19 year old cat clear up a bladder infection and restore her quality of life (shes still alive!). Our dog is very underweight and the previous vet we went to would chastise us for how she looked. This clinic has always accepted her and never blamed us for her weight issue. SHES JUST A THIN DOG.....yes we feed her. The front end staff have been great to work with as well. Very accommodating to help fit us in as soon as possible. I also saw Dr. Jen this week and she was lovely too! I will always tell people to go here :)
Expérience fantastique: Last week I had taken my 15 year old cat to be treated for a blocked urinary tract. He also had an enlarged kidney. Dr. Millar and Dr. Jen treated Mr. Wigglesworth and he is now on his way to recovering. These folks are fantastic. I was kept updated the whole time he was there (he was in their care from Thursday late afternoon until Saturday afternoon). I was treated with respect and kindness by both doctors and the staff. I would highly recommend these folks without hesitation and intend to make them my "go to" veterinary clinic for all my cats. A big thank you to everyone!
Expérience fantastique: Doctor N was a life saver for our boy Leo. The staff is so friendly and caring as well.
Expérience fantastique: took my kitty in for constipation as our regular vet was fully booked. they were able to get us in that day with no hesitation. the reception staff were kind and patient upon arrival. dr. millar was great with my boy and followed up the next day. never felt pressured and truly seems that this is one of the few clinics in the city where the staff truly work in the best interest of the animals, and not just pushing sales.
Expérience fantastique: Dr. Miller takes great care in treating my dogs. He takes the time to listen to concerns. He is up front with how much things will cost. The people working at the reception and vet techs are helpful. They made accommodations for my reactive dog. Would recommend.
Expérience négative: Receptionist with bad attitude(with glasses). You need to remember that some customers have a good hearing and can hear what you talking behind your desk with each other..especially when you discussing a customer sitting in front of you. I liked the vet but I am not going to return.
Expérience fantastique: A big bouquet to Transcona Veterinary Hospital . I was not a regular client but when I took my fur baby to be put down the vet took the time to explain everything clearly and options. The girls there we also extremely kind. My decision was one of the hardest I ever had to make but they we so kind and allowed me to not feel as if I was ever in thr hot seat. Dr. Konarzewski was so very very kind.
Expérience fantastique: Our dogs love the staff at Transcona Veterinary Hospital. The vets are Very knowledgeable and kind.
Expérience fantastique: The staff here are wonderful. They are very attentive, compassionate and have a passion for animals.
Expérience fantastique: This little girl had her first visit tonight and Dr. K went above and beyond in making a scared pup feel safe and secure. Thank you so much for your time and effort. We're new to the area and I'm so glad I chose Transcona Vet. ♡♡♡
Expérience fantastique: The clinic fit my sick dog in even though they were booked solid. Great experience. Great care. Highly recommend.
Expérience fantastique: Friendly staff, clean facilities, Daisy was in good hands with the vet and xray tech. Highly recommend.
Expérience fantastique: Extremely friendly and very caring staff. The vet has even called me to answer questions I had about my sick dog. Very clean inside and out. I definitely recommend this place!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Expérience fantastique: I just had my appointment yesterday with my new kitten Lou! Carry was so kind over the phone and booking the appointment! We saw Dr K he was fantastic! I've had a horrible experience at another vet and having the pleasant experience I did, I will continue bringing my animals here!
Expérience fantastique: Our dog recently had a bladder infection. We were able to get her in to see the vet the next day and were very happy that the vet checked her kidneys and bladder for stones with an x-ray and ultrasound. She got an injection of antibiotics and was much better in two days. We highly recommend this clinic!
Expérience fantastique: We were greeted by very well organized and pleasant front desk staff, who actually seemed to know who we were, and were ready for our new puppy who has to be kept isolated as his vaccinations aren’t complete yet. The veterinarian Dr. Skakun, was thorough and gentle with our pup and was very knowledgeable answering our questions fully. We are grateful to have such a great service in our community.
Expérience négative: I'm not going to get into details about my low rating...but after being a customer here for forty (40) years....this place has gone downhill since Dr Moffat retired and if you think your getting "good service" here...I hate to break it to you...but your not...look elsewhere...I'm not the only one who has this opinion and many others have changed Vets since this clinics Founder retired...
Expérience fantastique: You've never met a more caring team. I've had two dogs and two cats with them, they are very gentle with them. Their explanations and options are also very clear and easy to follow.
Expérience négative: Dr. Nitychoruk misdiagnosed my kitten saying he did not have ringworm from initial tests, and that everything was good. We brought him to my parents for Christmas. Two weeks later Dr. Nitychoruk called to let us know that our kitten in fact does have ringworm from the last culture test. My sister contracted ringworm, and both of my parents cats are very sick with ringworm, one cat is older with diabetes. The treatment is making him very sick and lethargic and he is peeing on the floor and it’s getting worse. If I could give 0 stars I would. If we would have known there were multiple tests our kitten would have stayed isolated in a room at home, and not infected others and cost thousands of dollars and maybe sending an older cat to the hospital.
Expérience positive: After many years here - it is not the veterinarians that will turn me to look elsewhere for my pets well being - but the front staff here. It really is some sort of gong show with the front staff there.
Expérience négative: Just delt with the most ignorant receptionist!!! Returned a missed call today to tell the receptionist I had missed a call from her. She immediately informed me it wasn't her that had phoned me but a vet from that number. Her tone carried on through the conversation as if she had her nose so stuck in the air she could care less there needs to be something organized to get a dog I occasionally care for a surgery he much needs!! I was easy talked down too because I was not the dogs owner. Very, very disgusted with the unprofessional receptionist. I phoned at 3pm December 23rd 2022. So whoever was working please chat with them because I'm an exstreamly friendly with people just from having to work in customer service for the first 12 working years of my youth and knowing how it is to have to deal with unpleasant customers nevermind staff from the facility..
Expérience fantastique: Thanks to Dr. Skakun for recommending rehab instead of surgery & thanks to Dr. McKay for great advice on therapy to rehab Lucy's knee! (Lucy can now walk 5+ km withiut pain @10 years of age) Also thanks to Dr. P for taking the (unscheduled) time to explain what to do to help your dog who has eaten raisins (TOXIC)!!!
