Expérience fantastique: The staff here at Shellards are so very welcoming and are very assertive! My dog geta very nervous and anxious at the vets and it very vocal about it and needs to be musseled while being examined. The staff go over and beyond to gain the trust of my dog and make her feel comfortable and loved while at the vet. Huge shoutout to Julia who got my dog to finally wag her tail and wasn't so nervous by the end of the appointment. Very much recommend!

My dog, Cinnamon, had a life-threatening open pyometra, and an attempted spay at another emergency clinic ended in cardiac arrest under anesthesia. I came to Shellard's Lane terrified and genuinely unsure if I would get to bring my sweet girl home again. Dr. Meghan Goodrow was extraordinary. She was compassionate, calm, and clearly exceptional at what she does. She created a careful stabilization plan with IV fluids and IV ampicillin, then thoughtfully adjusted the surgical plan, including anesthesia and positioning, to minimize risk after the previous arrest. They successfully removed a 1.5 lb pyometra from a 10 lb dog, and Cinnamon is already improving drastically. I will never forget Dr. Meg’s communication and honesty throughout this entire process. I felt supported, informed, and taken seriously at every step. Honourable mention to Mary and Zoey (vet techs) as well for their kindness and help with feeding & medications.

One of my friends highly recommended this clinic and so I went and got prompt service, and I feel, by highly skilled Vets that CARE about pets, because... they LOOKED at her, assessed her... Actually put hands on her, and gave me a prognosis, and options, unlike other clinics I have been at over the years that won't even look at your pet before recommending tons of expensive tests and or procedures. They made me feel welcome and as if they could solve my girls problem. I felt my girl was in "Safe" hands, which took a ton of pressure off of me as well

I just cannot say enough about the amazing treatment that he received over the past few months. Every staff member-reception, techs, vets-that I get here at Shellard Lane Animal Hospital is top notch. They have not only been caring and kind to my dogs but have been supporting, patient and compassionate with me. I really couldn't ask for a better vet. ♥ 2024: Wow! Referred here by many locals but thrilled I took the advice. Dr. Goodrow was amazing with my very timid little guy. Brought his muzzle but it wasn't necessary. My last vet wouldn't allow him in the exam room without it. Thrilled with the service and care my boys received. ❤️

Expérience fantastique: Our dog was dealing with a very stubborn ear hematoma due to an infection. Dr. Sarah and the team at SL were exceptional. Dr. Sarah was dedicated on finding a solution that worked and went over multiple treatment options and changed treatment plans as necessary. She even consulted with other vets on their experiences to get second opinions. She personally called to check in after apts and would be reachable over the phone to talk about emergency questions and accommodate emergency apts last minute. The admin team also would check in via email and I was able to update them with pictures. The time and attention Dr. Sarah took for our dog and family was amazing. I will always be appreciative of this veterinary clinic for the experiences I had in visiting often (almost weekly) for months. Every time was great service, personable and caring.

The clinic was able to fit us in immediately and the care and compassion we received from every single staff member we interacted with was incredible. My 10yr old son chose to come to say goodbye and the techs were so good with him, explaining things in a way a child would understand. I cannot say enough good things about them. Thank you for making a difficult situation a little easier.

Expérience négative: We are new to the city and tried this vet because of the high reviews… I am not going back lack of professionalism from a late phone call meeting for a follow up to an appointment we had a week prior, which there was no mention of a charge for this follow up phone call which was said to be waived. To the vet consistently interrupting and speaking over me as I tried to ask my questions. Then to top it all off she asked me if I would like an email with all the information we had discussed (I said sure) she said she would try to send it today and if she forgot for me to call back and remind her to do her job and send me the information great professionalism where you have to call and remind them to send the information great professionalism that you basically paid for. Don’t go here they care about money and not your animal

Expérience négative: The sales pitch for pet insurance was overboard. I went in for routine shots for my cat. Found out the price ahead of time.Agreed. Spent an hour and a half in the office wondering why my cat hadnt got his shot s yet. It's definitely a boutique vet service. Wasn't the type of service I was looking for. Found a more sustainable pricing veterinary service outside of brantford. Call your local SPCA for other options. Ppl really can price themselves out of buisness. Just my opinion.

Expérience négative: Took our 11 week old Golden Retriever to see Dr. Sarah for her second puppy visit and shots. The experience we had was less than pleasant; all of the other staff were fantastic, patient and loving with the pup. However during our vet visit Sarah was rude, rushed through our appointment, didn’t examine the puppy with the concerns we have (UTI related and Cyst above pups eye). The information given about the vaccines was vague and extremely confusing. I’ve since booked our pups third visit with another office. I wouldn’t recommend seeing Dr. Sarah here.

Expérience fantastique: We had to use them in an emergency situation as our own vet was very dismissive of us. They had our poor sick dog in within 10 minutes of me speaking with Mary and explaining the issues. They did everything possible to figure out treatment and he was transferred for overnight care at the emergency clinic. Unfortunately he passed away in the wee hours but I am forever grateful for all they did to make him comfortable and no one could have foreseen the seizure and sudden death. I have transferred all my pets to their care and they have already made great strides in solving an ongoing skin issue with another dog that our regular vet said was age related . She’s like a new dog now. I highly recommend everyone there. Dr Susan even took the time to call when she heard the news to talk if I needed to .

Expérience fantastique: I phoned Shellard Lane Animal Hospital with a serious medical emergency and they got my dog in right away. She had been poisoned and was dying. They got her stabilized, and then she had to spend the night at the emergency vet. They reassessed her in the morning and cleared her to go home. She has made a full recovery. We were both treated with kindness, and I felt that they were truly doing anything and everything to save her life. My dog Willow, is truly my best friend and she also volunteers as a therapy dog at the John Noble Home where she is adored. They saved her life and I will forever be grateful to them!!!

Expérience négative: They killed my dog ! Went in for 3 days straight they took X-rays everyday saying there’s a blockage and they were confident it would pass and sent us home. The 3rd day they finally suggested we do surgery but not until the next day after lunch because the doctor was on vacation and was returning to a busy schedule we were told! I could have taken him to Simcoe and had surgery day one but already was a thousand dollars in after a short couple hours here at shellards. Shellards kept stressing it wasn’t bad at all giving me hope this isn’t a big deal . The 4th day he was dropped for surgery and wasn’t given any word about worst case being him euthanized!! I called them at 2pm and they said he hadn’t been brought in. Literally 10 minutes later I get called saying he’s now in cut open and I’m being told he needs to be uthanized because they would have to remove 2/3 his intestines !!! I was told I could not come see him and they needed to euthanize him, I asked to come see him and they said no, hense why I say they killed him I truly believe they failed on there end also known as malpractice, I think he was already dead when they called me. didn’t stress the situation , and all in all I believe they made us wait so long for the sake of them not having appointments earlier. At the end I paid a total of 3500 dollars to have him put down and 10 minutes of surgery . YOU DID NO FAVOURS fitting in the cremation costs. Maybe your “instagram famous” ritzy employees are focused on anything but the animals, you people must feel so great about yourselfs.

Their staff is all exceptional in their care, thorough in their exams, and fantastic with their bedside manner with all my pets. They hear all my concerns and address them. I never leave feeling unheard. Not to mention they truly helped save my cats life last year with emergency surgery. I recommend them to everyone if you're looking for compassionate vets who care

This made some of our experience with communication hit or miss (understanding everyone has a different role and different scope of support) but overall very positive.
