Founded in 2011, Wellesley Animal Hospital offers a wide range of veterinary services, from wellness examinations, vaccinations and behavioural consultations to soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and digital ultrasonography.

They explained to me everything patiently and made sure I can find the entrance properly before I left the house. It was a very pleasant experience. I will be going back for her surgery. 10/10 recommend.
Expérience négative: Used to be a good place to take your pet to, but things have changed recently and it has become all about money. Just taking your pet to see a vet at this clinic has a base charge of almost $175 and then there are other charges for tests, med etc. Place is cluttered and basically unclean and the reception staff dont speak English very well. Just an off-putting place now. Sadly.
Expérience fantastique: We’ve been bringing Charlie to Wellesley Animal Hospital since I adopted her at 2 years old — she’s now 9 — and I truly can’t say enough good things about them. Charlie is only two pounds, so she’s very delicate, and the team has always been incredibly gentle, patient, and kind with her. They take their time, handle her with such care, and always make sure she feels safe and comfortable. At our most recent visit, we completed a travel certificate for our upcoming trip as well as the full senior wellness screening package. I really appreciate that they now offer bundled senior packages — it’s much more economical compared to when I had to run all of these tests individually a few years ago. It makes it easier to stay proactive about her health as she gets older. Over the years, they’ve consistently been professional, compassionate, and thorough. I completely trust them with such a tiny and precious member of my family. I highly recommend Wellesley Animal Hospital to anyone looking for caring, attentive veterinary care.

Everyone is incredibly helpful, share the costs of what needs to be done to help me make informed choices, and couldn’t be more loving to every animal I see them with.

Expérience fantastique: Best place ever. Warm and homey atmosphere. They obviously all love animals here and also run a very tight ship.
Expérience négative: First visit and the experience was mediocre. Although the vet and staff were helpful and friendly, the examination room was dirty with embedded dust and a general sense of uncleanliness. The second floor reception area similarly was also unclean and in disarray. The receptionist could not speak English very well which for a front line worker should be essential. Overall, not too happy as I would expect it to be a better experience given the high cost every step of the way.

Expérience négative: The clinic provided adequate medical care for my pets, but overall the experience wasn't great. The vet's bedside manner felt rushed and impersonal, and communication was difficult at times due to limited English. I left appointments without clear information about aftercare or next steps, which made managing my animals' recovery stressful. On top of that, the administrative side was frustrating - it took more than a week for my insurance claim to be submitted, which delayed my reimbursement and required me to follow up multiple times. The front staff were polite, but the process felt disorganized. Because of the communication issues and delays, l've decided to switch to another vet and won't be returning to Wellesley Animal Hospital.

Dr. Connie was very thorough with her exam and made Snow so comfortable that he fell asleep on the exam table. One of the vet techs also did a great job teaching my partner and I how to trim Snow's nails. Highly recommend this vet office!

Expérience fantastique: My boyfriend and I moved downtown last year, and we didn’t want to take our cats to just any veterinary clinic because we had seen that many of them have very bad reviews, which made us worried. Fortunately, we found this place and have had a great experience, both for our cats and for us. Dr. Connie is extremely patient and kind with our cats (we have three). Our oldest cat has always been scared of vet visits, and I even warned the doctor that he could be a little aggressive but it turned out he wasn’t scared at all and he behaved very well. If you have cats, I highly recommend bringing them here 10/10!

They went above and beyond to help us and made us feel reassured throughout. The food came in exactly the time they said and a major crisis was averted. Expérience négative: I have not had a good experience at this vet. I came for routine things like monthly injections for my 15 year old senior dog's mobility. I made a mistake by asking to get his ears cleaned one time when they took him to the back. I thought they would wipe the visible wax out of his ears. The techs put solution down the canals of my very old dog. This caused a 2 MONTH long infection that was very very hard on my dog and it caused us a lot of distress. We had to try 3 different things and costed thousands. My dog went from perfect hearing to almost completely deaf and really has deteriorated his quality of life. He no longer hears when I get home. I have complained and told this vet what happened, they claim they did nothing wrong and that standard procedure. I obviously disagree, so does my groomer and new vet when they heard of this "standard" procedure. I've also had two other neighbours tell me about negative experiences here as well. Take that as you will when choosing a vet for your family member.

Because the appointment in question took place over a year ago, we are unfortunately unable to investigate or verify the specific details of what occurred at that time. We are also very sorry to hear that Roger has been experiencing ongoing ear issues and the additional symptoms you described in your email. We understand how distressing it can be to see changes in a senior pet’s health, and it is quite rare for such symptoms to be caused by an ear cleaner.
For routine ear care, applying the cleaner directly into the ear canal is necessary in order to properly flush and clean it. This technique is a standard and common practice in veterinary medicine. However, we recognize that every pet and every situation is unique, and we regret if the process felt distressing or caused concern at the time.

Before my dog’s dental procedure, I had a lot of questions, and the reception team were always open to answering all of them. As for the procedure itself, the surgery was quite difficult and took several hours, but I wasn’t worried because I knew my Jorik was in the right hands. Jorik recovered very well, and I’m extremely grateful for the care he received. I truly appreciate the professionalism and compassion of the whole team I felt supported throughout the entire process, and it really helped reduce my stress. Expérience fantastique: Our dog Poppy is a timid rescue and after doing a ton of research, we found Wellesley Animal Hospital and the team there are all very patient and gentle with her. When she needed a complex oral surgery due to past abuse, the team took their time to sit with me and create a plan moving forward, even the referral process was super smooth. We’ve moved further west but still come back here, we wouldn’t trust anyone else with her care!

They were trying to comfort my cat before they touch him by letting him sniff them or the medical devices. A friend recommended Wellesley Animal Hospital to me saying how much she loved how they cared for her dog and I couldn’t agree more. They were so warm and welcoming when I walked in and their waiting area had treats waiting for your furry friend. I also appreciated the follow up email I received the next day after my dogs appointment ensuring the treatment was going well and they were able to answer a questions I had regarding the treatment. Expérience négative: Prices absurd. It was over 100 for an ear cytology, when it was only 35 at another vet. Their elevator was also not working when I arrived so they had to use a storage room for my dog’s examination.

Expérience fantastique: I had an excellent experience at this clinic with my cat, Dusty. When he needed a last-minute appointment, they were able to get us in early the same morning. The staff was incredibly efficient—a vet tech came to see us within five minutes of my early arrival. The vet prescribed a symptom management treatment, and Dusty has been feeling much better since starting the medication on the second day. The follow-up email I received the next day was a thoughtful and surprising touch. The staff is lovely and the location is very convenient.

Expérience positive: I took my dog here for dental removal about two years ago. While the surgery itself went fine, the overall experience was very frustrating. Every visit involved long wait times, usually 30 min to 1 hour. The visits were also in the early mornings, so there were usually zero to two people sitting in the waiting room. My last visit, for the stitch check-up, had me waiting over an hour, and it was only after repeatedly asking front desk that someone finally attended to us. It was summer (I don't remember if AC was on, I think it was cause I was okay) but my dog is very furry, and he was panting heavily after waiting. When I finally spoke to the nurse or technician about some bruising on the inside of his mouth, (this conversation was years ago so I don't remember the exact wording but the gist was) he wasn’t sure because they weren’t the vet who performed the surgery. So after a long, uncomfortable wait, none of my questions were answered. The vet and tech staff were polite and procedure went well, but the wait times and lack of proper follow-up make this a stressful experience

Expérience négative: A super unprofessional technician named "Karyna" described my dog as "trashy". How could you expect they to treat your baby well if they call your baby trashy and bad? I am deeply upset and disappointed by the unprofessional conduct of one of your technicians, named "Karyna". My poor dog had a very bad blood draw experience with Wellesley Animal Hospital previously. One of the technicians was unable to successfully collect the sample after six or seven attempts on both legs, and my dog was still not showing any aggressiveness when I accompanied him. As we are expecting another blood test this year, I communicated actively to seek whether we have an easier way/ less suffered way for my dog to do the blood test. And they did not prioritize the health of my baby and instead increased the dosage based on convenience, as a result, my dog did not feel well and went to the emergency after the dose that they increased!!!! SEE ATTACHED SCREENSHOT FOR THEIR BLATANTLY UNPROFESSIONAL INTERNAL COMMS. And this is not the first time they have made mistakes, my dog also experienced overfluid in a surgery. These experiences are deeply hurtful, completely unprofessional, and show a disturbing lack of compassion and respect for animals in their care.

Expérience fantastique: First time visiting this vet with my new kitten, everyone was incredible from first walking in to the vet, to the technicians. They were patient, answered every question and could tell they really love what they do and care about all the pets they see. Today my kitten was sick and I called and asked for advice, Alan was not only so kind and reassuring but he was thorough with advice and patient even when I called a second time to verify. Expérience positive: I find everyone there-the vets and other staff very conscientious and polite and kind. There’s follow up e-mails after a visit and I can ask them questions and they respond. However I must say that I think it’s remiss of the practice to not offer culture sensitivity tests so that the appropriate antibiotics can be used. I, myself, would prefer not to use antibiotics unless direly necessary.

Expérience négative: Absolutely unacceptable experience at Wellesley Animal Hospital. We were just ten minutes late for an 8:45 AM appointment because we were struggling to safely get our cat into her kennel — a real issue any vet clinic should understand. Instead of showing even basic decency or compassion, the staff were rude, dismissive, and flat-out refused to see us. There was no flexibility, no concern for our pet’s well-being, and no professionalism. If a veterinary clinic can’t handle the reality that animals are unpredictable and owners sometimes face challenges, they have no business claiming to care for animals. We will never return to Wellesley Animal Hospital and I would strongly caution others against trusting their pets to a place that clearly prioritizes their schedule over the actual health and safety of the animals they are supposed to serve.

Afterwards, they recommended surgery that would have added even more expenses, but fortunately, I decided against it. It turned out they had provided a misdiagnosis. It was only later on that I realized this Clinic is part of VetStrategy, a corporation exposed on CBC that is not about pet care, but only profits.

Expérience négative: I took my dog here for 4 years and after he passed away, I discovered a nasty truth about this and other clinics. Wellesley animal hospital is a corporation owned clinic which is purely here for profit. It's owned by VetStrategy. There is a CBC marketplace video on youtube (cannot link here but please look it up) about how these corporation-owned vet clinics prescribe tests that your pet probably does not need and have been driving up costs for your pet. I would highly suggest doing some research on your vet clinic and find one that is not corporation owned.

Expérience négative: This was originally our primary clinic for the past two years, and unfortunately we had a very bad experience with them in November of last year when I took my dog there. That day, our regular doctor hadn’t arrived yet, so we ended up with Dr. Shi R.(Sherry) to see our dog. In the days prior, he had been very low energy and had lost a lot of weight in just a few days. Dr. Sherry showed no tact in delivering her diagnosis and was extremely insensitive. She literally told us that our dog was going to die within a matter of days because he had terminal cancer, and that we should quickly decide to euthanize him, practically giving him only five days to live and instructing us to take him in with them. That was a tremendous shock for us and affected us deeply, and I don’t believe that’s an appropriate way to break such news, especially since she delivered it as if she didn’t care. Fortunately, the next day we took him to another veterinarian for a second opinion who was completely different and gave us hope. Dr. Sherry’s diagnosis had been very aggressive and premature, since proper tests should have been done first to confirm it. The second doctor was very empathetic and personally referred us to an oncologist and a clinic for further tests. Although Dr. Sherry had prescribed some steroids that helped my dog and allowed him to improve within days, the final diagnosis turned out to be advanced leukemia. Even so, we were able to have our dog with us for almost four more months, contrary to what Dr. Sherry had told us, that he had less than a week left. My dog’s cancer was very aggressive, silent, and fast, so it couldn’t be detected earlier and there was no way to prevent it. We never went back to Wellesley, because despite having been satisfied with their services for two years, this last doctor left a very bad taste in our mouths and greatly disappointed us. You really need to better train your staff on how to deliver bad news to pet owners and should be more empathetic and sensitive.

Expérience négative: I had an extremely bad experience at this animal hospital, from the moment i walked into the this hospital, their receptionists were looking at the computers rather than confirming our appointment information. My dog got a regular vaccine shot and a blood test, the bill came up to be extremely pricey. The receptionist was distracted when asking me to pay, it seems to me that she is unable to handle just a very simple payment. The most unacceptable fact was that my dog cannot walk at all even after 24 hours. She is 3 years old now, and this has never happened during the past. Dr. Mengxue Su was careless when checking on my dog. She also talked in a condescending tone, making me feel like i asked her very stupid questions. She did not go through the detail of the charges with me at all, and that is why i was surprised when i saw the bill. To the business owner: please fire the unprofessional staffs, start hiring professional vets with conscience if you don't wanna lose the customers and see your business shutting down in the very near future.

After emergency clinic, I planed to do surgery in your clinic, I came twice and called you twice to discuss the further course of the surgery, even after your email to me I called back to discuss surgery day and time, but your reception even didn’t allow me to speak with Ellio doctor to discuss our next steps about surgery, they told me I should pay make an appointment and wait for discuss next steps when situation my cat was very critical, it’s your approach to your patients! Expérience positive: Service was good, nice staff and we got bloodwork back within couple hours but when i was told to go immediately to emergency due to a very bad bloodwork results and was trying to contact them from emergency to get some bloodwork results transferred and for the emergency vet to speak with their doctor it proved to be a challenging task and they didn’t pick up so couple hours have passed before we could get some kind of answer from them. Not sure what happened but my cat was dying and that communication needed to happen faster than that.

Expérience négative: If I could give this hospital zero stars, I would. I brought my puppy in for his second vaccine - as all pet owners probably know, puppies need three shots of vaccines, though I'm not entirely clear on what each shot specifically prevents. Dr. Liu (Cindy), this somewhat arrogant Asian doctor, examined our dog after keeping us waiting for quite a while and presented us with a $500 bill (including a $138 consultation fee, three vaccines, and a fecal test). This isn't our first dog, so I told her I only needed the standard second shot, not the additional vaccines she was recommending. We also already knew what kind of worm it was, so we just needed the deworming medication. Her expression immediately changed to one of unhappiness and impatience. She kept insisting there was "no such thing as a second shot" and that all the vaccines she recommended were necessary for the dog (complete with a condescending expression, making me feel like I was being a bad dog owner if I didn't get them). What's ridiculous is that the examination form she later showed me clearly listed one vaccine as "second vaccine." Moreover, she told me not to take my dog outside for now, yet was trying to get me to pay for vaccines that prevent viruses from wildlife and marine animals - vaccines only needed for outdoor activities. This whole situation was completely unreasonable, and paying $138 for a consultation with Dr. Liu felt like a complete waste of money. After I declined her recommended vaccines, she never appeared again, making us feel completely dismissed. Aren't patients also customers, in a sense?

Expérience négative: I'm a new patient to this clinic, I recently moved here and switched over from an amazing vet clinic. I decided to try this place because it’s very close by. It might be because I am comparing this clinic to my prior vet, but I would only describe the services here as adequate. I found the vet (Dr Liu) to be a bit dismissive and quick to leave the room. For a $155 (w tax) consult, I expect the vet to be willing to answer my questions and provide me with more detailed information on my cat. I was told by the vet that I was ready to go without anyone even telling me how to administer the medication or providing me with a syringe to administer it. Thankfully, there was a great vet technician who took the time to show me how to administer the medication and answered the questions that the doctor gave me one word responses to. In the end, the doctor did prescribe the correct medication and my cat has since healed, but this experience left me disappointed.

To provide the best care for your pet, our appointments are structured as a team effort. Our veterinary assistants begins the visit by gathering a detailed history and noting the topics you’d like to discuss. The doctor then performs the examination, answers any questions, and may need to step out briefly to prepare for any treatments, medications, or next steps. Registered technicians, under the doctor’s direction, complete the appointment by addressing any final details, such as going over medications, administering vaccines, or providing aftercare instructions.
We understand how this process may have felt abrupt, and we truly appreciate your feedback, which allows us to identify opportunities to make these transitions smoother for our clients.

Expérience négative: This is chouchous first vet and we take him here when he was 2 months old. Their service isn’t cheap, which is understandable cuz it’s Toronto. Sometimes I paid unexpected amounts, that’s also fine cuz you gotta pay what you gotta pay. However, they are very sales driven and even tried to push the idea to me that chouchou, a corgi which is prone to have orthopedic problems, to get neutered at the age of 4 months. This is the moment when I decided to leave them cuz this is an extremely unprofessional advice and I hope all vets can at least keep up with literature reading. Testosterone is extremely important for bone and muscle mass build up for males especially for medium to large breads that are prone to have orthopedic related problems. Their professionalism does not match their price. Chouchous neutered later after careful considerations but of course it happened after his adulthood. I’m fine with paying whatever for my baby but I won’t tolerate vets pushing for unnecessary procedures that’ll harm his overall health for money.
