Expérience négative: My 7-year old cat has had urine crystals almost his entire life. I’ve just been told by this vet I cannot purchase the prescription food he needs if I don’t bring him in at least once a year (college-mandated?!) - this is the same vet I’ve been buying the food from without annual visits. What a freakin’ money grab. Regular (and unnecessary) vet visits are cost prohibitive to my family. I do not bring pets to the vet unless they’re actually sick. So disappointing that I’ll have to risk my cat’s health and buy regular food for him.

Expérience négative: Dr. Chan examined a dog I brought to the clinic for limping issue and said requires x-rays under sedation. When I picked up the dog later that day, no one told me what's going on with the dog or what is going to happen next. No diagnosis. Completely left in the dark. I called back asking for results of the x-rays after 2 days passed. Unfortunately, Dr. Chan was too busy to return my calls. Meeting with Dr. Chan was 5 minutes or so, and I have never seen or talked to Dr. Chan again !

Expérience fantastique: Dr Amy Cheung and the team here are very gentle and caring with my little guy! They understand he gets a bit spicy and are patient with him. With his latest visit he willingly went into the clinic himself, wagging his tail made me so happy to see that!

Expérience fantastique: Love this place! Every doctor I meet is professional, caring, listens to all my concerns as if they knew me personally and wanted the best for me and my dog. They don’t do anything unnecessary, and will always check in with me to see if whatever costs are ok with me at that point, and if not they will work to find other solutions. We always have options. My pup is always in good hands, she’s anxious with people in general and is always so well taken care of with any given person who may be helping us that day. I trust them with everything, they work to see if I can be seen sooner than later, so all my concerns are always taken care of immediately. Thank you to the whole team! We love you guys.

Expérience fantastique: I'm a recent pet owner. I've been coming VVH for the whole time that I've had my dog, who came into my care bc he needed rehoming. It's not my first time here bc I have a friend that had a cat n I came here with him once n another time without him for his cat. He had good things to say about them. When I got my guy, I asked around to my dog parent friends about places they'd recommended n VVH was one of those. I read the reviews (taking all the reviews with the usual grain of salt) n eventually chose this business bc of what I remembered from my cat friend, recommendations from others, the reviews on Google Maps n bc it was not too far away from home if I needed to walk to VVH, which is very important bc I don't have a car. So far, staff have been very kind n understanding about everything n they are respectful of one regardless of sexual n gender orientation. When I first came here they were giving away heart stickers for all the different ways one chooses to be n that felt very welcoming. I really appreciate a place that I can feel safe n is friendly, cordial n warm. Price wise, they seem reasonable for the amount of staffing they've got n for the location. Besides, now my dog knows how to run alongside me on a bike n it doesn't take as long to get here.

Expérience fantastique: Vancouver Veterinary Hospital is a great place to take your sick pet. I had to take our cat there recently, as she was showing weird signs of illness. They checked her out, and decided that she needed a specific medication to cure her. I was sent to a local pharmacy, where I was able to pick up the medication ... and we have started to give it to her now. Thank you all the staff at the hospital. You were very friendly, efficient and our cat is recovering now.

Expérience fantastique: Xx has a cornea ulcer a few months ago and we took him to see Dr. Caius. The staff was attentive and we were able to get some eye drops and he felt a lot better. During the visit, they notice he has his heart mur mur and suggested me to call in a time to get an ultrasound with the cardiologist. Early this week, Xx suddenly was coughing and wasn’t feeling the greatest and the staff was super empathetic and tried to to do what they can to see if they can book the ultrasound as soon as possible. Xx was able to go in at noon and had the ultrasound!! Also, we found out the cause of the coughing was a change in weather. Dr. Caius was patient and explained Xx’s heart condition and we are going to have a follow up visit with some recommendations that’s best for him and I am so grateful. It’s also really nice because he speaks Cantonese and has overseas! The staff also kept me updated with how Xx was doing and kept me reassured. Thank you Vancouver Vet Team!!

The staff have been consistently helpful, professional, and kind. From annual check-ups to surgery, helping with diet and weight maintenance, and catching early health issues to help provide the best care, his regular vet and every other we've seen have all been incredible in helping me look after my best feline friend!

Expérience fantastique: As a life-long pet guardian I've been to many Veterinary practices - this is one of the very best. All their Doctors are top-notch but Dr. Amy Cheung is phenomenal. Incredibly caring with an immense wealth of knowledge. She treats each four-legged patient with unique care, a wonderful bed-side manner and a holistic approach to their wellbeing. I've also found the technicians to be fantastic as well as the level of aftercare no matter how busy they are. Only con would be that the practice is a little shabby in appearance but super clean. I've seen swankier practices that don't offer anywhere near the same level of care so I'll always pick the Hospital based on the people not the building.

Expérience négative: Unfortunate, I’ve just taken my dog here for his routine shots and flea medication, before we go to Alberta every year. The last time we came he got fleas. Which he’s never had before.. which was weird seeing as we went in to prevent possible fleas.. that he didn’t even have. This year we brought him again thinking maybe, it was a fluke. He came back and the next day he had fleas.. and we noticed worms in his stool.. I was hoping to get a little bit of an explanation obviously before returning or just switching vets. I discussed with the lady on the phone in which she didn’t really seem to be bothered. She explained to me multiple times about flea medication.. I work as a canine physiotherapist I’m well informed, I just come for the routines. I asked her what we could do and she didn’t have any answers. She also told me he didn’t even receive flea and tick treatments on his last visit. Which was the reason along with the vaccine, on why we went. I told her I was going to just switch vets then and she just agreed. Disappointed to say the least.

Expérience fantastique: I would highly recommend this clinic and have nothing but positive things to say about the whole team. They are all so kind, patient, professional and helpful and I always feel safe leaving my 2 cats in their care. Dr. Goldberg helped me reach a diagnosis for my one cat that unknowingly has been suffering with hyperthyroidism for years and recommended radioactive iodine treatment which could very well cure this condition and save his life. So far he is one month post-treatment and already seems like a different cat! I will be forever grateful to their level of care and dedication to their clients and patients. The only drawback for us was that they do not offer direct billing to insurance companies but I have had zero issue with coverage from mine (Fetch) for all their treatments!

Expérience négative: If you hate your pets, you should bring them here for service. I would rate this place 0/5 if it was an option. They butchered my dogs ear and instead of repairing his hematoma with buttons and stitches like I was told it would be, once we had him sedated and I was to leave my dog in their care, they instead chose to suture 12 tubes into his ear damaging perfectly healthy ear tissue and stitching entirely through his cartilage 24 times. Zero informed care and quite frankly, I receive better care and service advising from my mechanic. I was sent home post-op with no pain killers or meds to help my dogs recovery process and within 5 days of his surgery and 1 evening using the no flap wrap they insisted I put him in even with these gross tubes and sutures in place, he got an infection immediately. I was told there was nothing I could buy from them to help his bleeding sutures heal a bit, clearly they are unaware Otizole exists. I was provided the wrong type of medication for the site of his infection (clavaseptin instead of cefaseptin), and ultimately needed to bring my dog to a vet who actually knows what they’re doing for surgical procedures and post-op care. After VVH operated on my dog, I called numerous vets in Vancouver/Burnaby area to talk to them about their hematoma repair process and NONE of them supported the procedure of stitching entirely through my dog’s ear nor was it advised to have ever sent me home with zero pain meds or anti-inflammatories, or use a no flap wrap (I was told to buy one and put it on my dog immediately after his surgery) My original review was hidden by VVH likely due to the photos I attached with it which is truly comical considering their management noted surgery procedure was validated. Show the photos and full review if that’s the case and stop hiding the work you’re so clearly proud of and refuse to reimburse me for despite costing me $1600 in a botched hematoma repair PLUS a second surgery which I paid for at a different vet all together, and additional costs for gauze and a no flap wrap which I was told numerous times to buy and keep on my dog for 30 days. I’m lucky my dog didn’t die from their malpractice and overall lack of care in our time of need.

Expérience négative: I’ve been waiting since January 2022 for Vancouver Veterinary Hospital to send an approved refund to iFinance (PetCard) after overpaying for my dog’s surgery. The cost was $800 on a $1,500 loan, and iFinance gave them refund instructions the same day. Over three years later, iFinance confirms they have never received the money, and my loan is still active. Despite multiple emails — including formal escalation — all I’ve received are vague assurances it’s “being reviewed.” Extremely unprofessional handling of a simple, approved refund. Would not recommend based on this experience.

Expérience fantastique: Dr. Assaf Goldberg and his team are so kind and caring with our three pups. They provide useful information and we never feel like they are just trying to “sell” us. The whole clinic feels like they just genuinely love animals. We feel like our fur babies are getting great care. Highly recommend!

I walk in where I'm greeted with a very friendly smile and kind words to the experience with the veterinarians that I have worked with. The veterinarians at Vancouver Veterinary Hospital have all been very kind very warm, caring and very patient exactly what I would want in a vet.

Expérience fantastique: Dr. Amy Cheung and the VVH team have been an absolute blessing to myself and my two super senior cats. Dr. Cheung remembers them between visits and is always so visibly HAPPY to see them whenever they need to go in They've been able to do any procedures my cats needed in-house, including dental work, and are so fast to getting things like blood work processed. I'm usually able to get an appointment within a few days and when something more urgent comes up, the team has been great about being able to squeeze me in for a same- or next-day appointment. Everyone in the office is incredibly kind and supportive, especially when it came time to switch to a palliative approach for one of my cats at the end of his life--Dr. Cheung and the team talked through the different options for treatment, likely outcomes, and helped me make the right decision at the right time. The ONLY thing that could possibly make VVH better is if they offered at-home euthanasia as one of their services. There's no one else I trust more with my pets.

Expérience négative: Disappointing experience. I needed to purchase a specialized veterinary diet recommended by a specialist as my vet doesn’t carry. When I tried to buy it through them, I was told I must be an existing client. There was no effort to help or offer alternatives. It’s clear the priority isn’t animal well-being, but policy and profit. Very unhelpful and frustrating.

Expérience fantastique: Dr. Caius Chan and Dr. Amy Cheung both are incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and skilled. They are honest and practical, always putting the comfort and well-being of my senior cats (all over 17 years old) first. They never recommends unnecessary tests or treatments. The clinic staff are also very kind and patient. When I reached out for help during an emergency, even though my English is not very good, they listened carefully and passed the urgent situation to the Doctor as quickly as possible. Dr. Chan previously practiced at a major veterinary clinic in Hong Kong, and I feel truly lucky to have found him again here in Vancouver. Thank you.

Expérience fantastique: What an amazing experience I have to share My wife and I are new to this veterinarian clinic/hospital and just had our first appointment yesterday. Our last vet unexpectedly closed on a whim. After receiving no notice and finding out their doors were closed on our scheduled appointment day we had to quickly find a new home as the medicine for one of our cats was running out. After spending days checking online I decided to try these guys. My wife and I are so happy and our first impressions are at the highest level. Everyone just seemed so happy here...customers and the staff! We saw Dr. Caius Chan who was friendly , professional, and knowledgeable. Not only is him and the staff professional but they actually care about what they are doing. They enjoy their job! They seem to have a high level of care for our precious pets. These are people we need to entrust our fur babies too. You have a customer for life! Thank you team!

The staff is always quick to greet you when you arrive. When we discussed the work that needed to be done, the cost breakdown was very transparent prior to making any decisions whether or not to proceed. Expérience fantastique: Great place to take your pet. A friend recommended me this place for laser treatment for my aging dog. The laser seems to have helped her hips and her mobility is getting better. The laser treatment is also very reasonably priced. I also had one of my dog's teeth extracted and the staff were caring and really good with my dog. I would recommend VVH.

Expérience fantastique: Dr. Philip Wolfman and the staff at the Vancouver Veterinary Hospital are amazing, and I’d like to leave my review here as both a thank you and to let other cat (and dog!) owners know how great of a clinic this is. After some sudden and alarming symptoms with my little fur baby, Sally, I brought her in to the clinic for an exam and testing. Dr. Philip Wolfman was extremely calm, empathetic and understanding, amidst an emotional circumstance, and really demonstrated care and compassion towards Sally and myself. He was clear and informative as to what the next steps are, provided a few different options and avenues for moving forward regarding testing/examinations, and ensured there were no surprises or questions. It was easy for me to see the genuine care and love towards animals that Dr. Philip Wolfman exhibited during my visit with Sally. What I’m even more appreciative of is that he even took the time to follow up with me personally after the vet visit to ensure that Sally was going OK and responding well to the medication she was prescribed, and he took the time to discuss the lab results with me in a way that any regular non-medical professional could understand. Although a medication adjustment was required, Sally responded well to the subsequent prescription, and she has been living her best life, and has been extremely happy and healthy since! A huge thank you once again to Dr. Philip Wolfman and the rest of the team at Vancouver Veterinary Hospital for providing such a wonderful experience from start to finish, considering the circumstances that brought us into the clinic. He is kind and gentle with the animals and takes the time to explain things thoroughly to the humans. He has performed surgeries on my dog and is an excellent surgeon. Over the years, I have visited numerous vets for my various pets, and Dr.Goldberg is by far my favorite. I truly cannot recommend him more highly.

Expérience négative: I was not very happy with my experience there, I spent a lot of money and it was not til I went elsewhere that I actually found out what was wrong with my dog. I feel like the mistakes made in diagnosing my dogs ailments did not have to be made. If they had of listened to me about how he was acting instead of jumping to conclusions a lot of heartache and money spent could have been avoided. They actually gave me a sheet of paper about how to put my dog down, when in actual fact he had torn a muscle in his upper leg. The nurses there were great

All the vets and assistants are knowledgeable, polite, and very helpful. I just referred a friend there for her little dog's dental care and she was so impressed that now Van Vet Hosp is her go to veterinarian for her dog.

Expérience négative: My wife and i have been taking our pets here for over 16 years and the quality of service and compassion has dropped significantly i was recently banned anfter i became upset over not being able to purchase food for my dying cat which they had facilitated the records for if you are dealing with an issue with your pets that may cause you to be emotional i would suggest going anywhere else

Expérience fantastique: I love this vet, they’ve helped my animals so much over the years and saved my cats life twice. My only complaint is that their front desk staff is not always the nicest. They always assume my number is a scam and hang up on me or put me on hold before asking who’s calling for 5-10 minutes at a time forcing me to call back. Most of them also don’t sound friendly or happy to be there when they answer the phone which does not leave a very good impression. I recently started going to another vet for most things because I could not get ahold of Atlas numerous times due to them immediately assuming I’m a spam call and because I want to deal with people who are friendly and kind. Otherwise they are absolutely fabulous.

I tried one but they were nowhere near as helpful or caring as the Vets at Vancouver Veterinary Hospital. So now I drive across the city to come here. I would highly reccomend.

After going back and forth between other clinics and Vancouver Veterinary I am finally back for good after bringing Ash back for a second opinion. All of the Doctors are excellent. They are thorough, kind, empathic and take time to explain and give attention to the pets. I trust them completely.

Expérience négative: A recent pet owner experienced the heartbreaking loss of his dog and trusted this veterinary clinic to handle the cremation process with care and respect. Unfortunately, his experience was deeply upsetting. Due to a mistake in the paperwork, the ashes of his beloved pet were accidentally discarded. As a fellow dog owner, I was shocked and appalled by the lack of attention to such an important and emotional matter. I can't imagine how devastating this must have been for him. I strongly urge others to be cautious if considering this clinic for such sensitive services, as this kind of mistake is truly unacceptable.

We sometimes take them to other vets for emergencies and specialist treatment, but we never feel more assured than when they're with VVH. All of the doctors and staff are excellent. They are very thorough, knowledgeable, kind and caring clinicians. They are wonderful vets. The clinic assistants are all very good as well. We - me and the pup - highly recommend. As only one of us has thumbs, we give them 5 stars rather than thumbs up!

We've been very happy working with this vet team on Kingsway, and they take extremely good care of our 11 yr mini-goldendoodle Abbey. They're always at the ready, easy to get an appointment - highly recommend.

After my 10-year old dog started experiencing seizures, my family and I were extremely worried. During this stressful time, Dr. Cheung was in constant communication with me, answering all my questions and recommending medications and diagnostic tests, while also keeping my financial situation in mind. And thanks to Dr. Cheung and the team at this clinic, they were able to diagnose the condition and prescribe medication that has helped my dog be seizure-free! Expérience fantastique: I've been going to Vancouver Vet for almost 25 years. I brought my beautiful cat Sasha here. She has passed. I've brought my beautiful Pomeranian Roxy here. She recently passed. Now I have 2 other cats, Rene and Rudi. Vancouver Vets has a very good staff, from reception, to the assistances to the veterinarians. They are very honest and forthright in their examinations. Amy, the veterinarian, has a wealth of knowledge and shows the utmost compassion. I have been to other veterinarians. I have to say they are nowhere near the service I get at Vancouver Veterinarian.

We're fortunate our cat is very healthy and does not often require medical attention, but when a urinary situation manifested recently, he received terrific care. It is a very welcoming office with friendly and professional team. Dr. Goldberg is patient, understanding and very knowledgeable. He is also honest enough to confirm he may not know the exact answer to a specific question yet will offer sound and effective advise based on experience and expertise. We are all very protective and attached to our furry family members; VVH very much appreciates this and takes the best care of them.

They get down on the floor with your dog and calm it by their gentle manner and give it treats. I recommend them to all new pet owners in my neighbourhood. My last couple vet trips at different places have been stressful, lack of providing me with insights and empowerment to make a good decision. Expérience fantastique: We brought our dog Keeno here for the 6 years we had him, since he was a puppy. The staff were always very friendly and professional with him, which was great because he had to go quite often! We found out he had chronic kidney disease just a little after he turned 1 but he lived a relatively normal doggy life thanks to the care from Vancouver Veterinary Hospital, specifically form Dr. Minhas and Dr. Goldberg. Things progressively got worse just before he turned 5 and developed an acute flare up on his kidneys on top of his chronic condition. We didn't know if he'd even make it to his 5th birthday but Dr.Goldberg took exceptional care of him and was quick with providing him emergency care. Dr.Goldberg reviewed Keeno's condition very closely and always provided us with what he thought to be the best course of action for his treatment. We were afraid we wouldn't make it to his 5th birthday, but he ended up making it just shy of his 6th birthday before he peacefully passed on, surrounded by his family. Thank you so much to Dr.Goldberg and the rest of the team at Vancouver Veterinary Hospital for everything they did for Keeno, our sweet angel. I will definitely trust the team here with my future furry companions.

Expérience négative: Worst veterinary clinic in Vancouver. I took my dog in because she had fungus infection, the doctor said, “oh you think she has that? I don’t think so” , without even checking her, he brought a light, checked her for like 30 seconds and said he wasn’t sure, gave me a prescription and that was it. $200 for that. Awful. Didn’t even help me find other posible areas of infection (even my groomer Helped me finding that and they have better equipment) Wouldn’t recommend this clinic, never met a good or helpful doctor here.

Expérience fantastique: We came in on a Sunday when our regular vet was closed (and actually hard to book). We gave up the idea of going to ER due to its long wait and we didn’t want to stress our cat by staying in a unfamiliar environment for that long. So we called all veterinary hospitals in metro area and VVH was the only one that could take us within 2 hours. When we got to the clinic we could tell they’re very well-staffed even for weekend. We were not only thankful that they could take us in, but also the doctor and nurse were so gentle with our cat. It was in fact our first time seeing our cat yawn in a clinic. Dr. Cheung took the time to explain our cat’s issue and was so considerate with getting the right treatment plans for our senior cat. We’re truly grateful to have VVH for that awful weekend.

Expérience fantastique: Dr. Amy Cheng is very friendly, upbeat, great with dogs and caring. She avoids unnecessary procedures. Never felt my money is wasted here. I have a full trust in this vet hospital and my dogs are excited to see her.

Expérience négative: Do not go to this hospital. If there was zero stars, I would give them that. They only seem interested in increasing their fees. Do yourself a favour, as other vet hospitals are way much cheaper than this one. I am very disappointed with Vancouver Veterinary hospital. They have had change in doctors and the last one I went to was Caius Chan. Avoid him if you can, he does not care for the patient or the pet and insist on repeated bloodwork and doing all kinds of tests. He shows no empathy at all. Even when I explained to the doctor, it is very traumatic for my aging cat to undergo all these blood tests and if it was possible if we can monitor my cat with medication. They would not accept or prescribe me anymore medication, if I did not do the blood tests. I went to get a 2nd opinion at a different vet hospital, who understands my concerns and to avoid putting anymore stress and anxiety on my aging cat. My cat is very comfortable now and continues to take the medication I was prescribed from the 2nd vet hospital and their rates are much cheaper, with very caring staff. Because I did not go back to Vancouver Veterinary Hospital for follow up, they called the SPCA on me and I was treated like a criminal, like I was abusing or neglecting my cat. We have rights here to get a 2nd opinion, if we feel we need to. Only Vancouver Veterinary Hospital knew my address and the SPCA officer’s name and they also knew SPCA needed records from Vancouver veterinary hospital. I called Vancouver Veterinary Hospital and they will not admit that they called the SPCA on me, as they know the SPCA will not disclose this information. Only after I called several times and insisted a call back from the manager, Adriana eventually called me and was giving me responses that didn’t make sense. 2 weeks ago, I did my full investigation and I sent Vancouver Veterinary hospital another email and they refused to reply. I have waited this time to see if they will respond, but they will just ignore your complaint. Due to no response, I felt the need to write this review and the terrible experience I have encountered. On a side note, SPCA did not find anything wrong with my cat or that it was being abused or neglected. It is just a hassle to provide all the required evidence to SPCA and they have acknowledged that my cat is well taken care of and in good care, they decided to close my file. A simple phone call from Vancouver Veterinary Hospital would have been more appropriate instead of them calling the SPCA on me. Vancouver Veterinary hospital has put a lot of stress on my cat and my entire family, doctor Caius Chan kept saying my cat will die!!!

Expérience fantastique: Love them. They’re great, they know and love my dog, and I feel like they are genuinely looking out for the pet, not pushing unnecessary medication or services. Parking is usually available on Kingsway nearby, and … well, it’s all about the pet, and she’s always pretty excited to go in.
