Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful experience at this clinic with our golden retriever! She needed urgent care on a Monday holiday before we left for a very long road trip and they took her in so quickly, gave her a very thorough exam, and sent us on our way with all we needed and plan that worked well for her and our situation! If we need to see another emergency vet we would return here :)

Fantastic experience: Oud dog received great and thorough care at the Downtown Animal Hospital. Everyone was amazing from start to finish....The staff were very friendly and caring. We will definitely go back if we have an after hour emergency with our pet.

Fantastic experience: Elvis was very well-taken care of at the animal hospital. He came in after being quilled by a porcupine. The staff was kind, efficient and knowledgeable. We were both well looked after and Elvis is now right as rain. Very grateful.

I called in a panic about my senior cat, and the staff were very gentle, patient, and reassuring right from the start. They helped me understand what might be happening and made a nightmare situation feel more manageable. They got her in incredibly quickly, took amazing care of her, and kept everything clear and straightforward. The whole team, including Dr. Guzman, was compassionate and professional, and I truly felt like my cat was in the best hands. Also—not horrible bundle price for the operation and medications! Fantastic experience: My dad had a bit of a scare with his dog this evening, I called and spoke with Annabelle and she was extremely knowledgable and you can tell that she genuinely cares about the clients as well as their pets. In addition, she was very polite and understanding, and even though I only met her through the phone, I was very impressed with her level of customer service, knowledge, and genuine care.

Fantastic experience: My elderly rescue dog took sick. Night time emerg vet was not available nor was her regular vet. Kingston’s Downtown Animal Hospital answered the call. Thanks to their wonderful staff, my dog is on the mend. I have spread the word to my dog owner friends.

Fantastic experience: The team at the Downtown Animal Hospital were great at helping me manage my beloved cat Mr. Ham's cancer and various other conditions that came with it with love and genuine concern. They were always open to make time to examine him, and he was so happy to make so many new friends. They went above and beyond in helping him, including getting a medication that he needed that was back-ordered on a snowy day. Mr. Ham is now gone, but he remembered all the kindness that surrounded him during his times of need.

Fantastic experience: Needed a vet asap. Dog bite. Less than an hour we saw the vet and our dog was left in good hands. An hour and half later he was home with us. Thanks for great compassion and excellent service by all.

Fantastic experience: Had to take my cat in this morning. I knew the chances of her coming home were slim. Everyone was so gentle and caring. Even tho I had to make the tough decision to euthanize my cat, every staff member explained every step to me and were so so so caring. We miss our Min dearly, she was in great hands right till the end.

Fantastic experience: I am a client at Downtown's sister clinic. I was referred here when my cat, Susy, became ill. It was incredibly stressful but the care she received was excellent. Thank you to Dr Guzman and the other staff members who all impressed me so much both with their treatment of Susy and keeping me informed of all the options, test results and updates. Susy is fully recovered and I am very thankful.

Fantastic experience: Got my cat in quickly and were incredibly accommodating and kind. Even faxed the visit information to our regular vet!

Negative experience: I brought my kitty in because he was having issues with bowel movements. Turned into being diagnosed with diabetes. $1500 later, nothing was resolved other than giving him $500/month medication!! And no resolution for his bowel movements! When I told them I wouldn’t be able to afford that, I called 3 times to find out my other options, and never received a phone call back!! I guess when you can’t afford what they want you to pay, they just ignore your messages and calls. I will be taking him to his original vet, where they are great at returning calls, giving other options and cheaper as well!

Fantastic experience: The team at Downtown Animal Hospital are amazing! For an urgent care clinic, they are more kind and compassionate than most regular vet clinics. My dog received the best emergency care for a laceration on her leg. Even when she was taken into the back area, I could hear the techs fawning over her and comforting her as she got some staples to help close the wound. They sent me a text to check on her the day after, and were super responsive when I asked them questions and sent photos of the healing process to make sure things were looking ok. I would recommend them to anyone in need of emergency care for their pets. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Our kitty Nanuk went missing May 28 2025. We found him 10 months later 41 km from where he went missing. I called the hospital and Robin was so attentive. She gave me guidance on how I could best handle the situation. The next day, Chantelle assisted us and was very helpful in the phone. We were able to have Nanuk seem rather quickly. Dr. Andrea Gia was phenomenal. She did not suggest tests or treatment that were not needed and thoroughly explained why we should get the tests and treatment we did. Nanuk may be a doppelgänger( we aren’t sure). He has such bad eye infections it is difficult to tell. He is our little phoenix from the fire. So Nanuk2 is now known as Nuktu. We are so grateful for the care Nuktu received and the emotional support given to me from Dr. Gia and the staff. I am sad that we can’t change vets so Dr. Gia could be the regular vet to all of our pets. Thank you so much. There’s a special place in heaven for people like you. ♥️

Fantastic experience: I brought my big boy in at about 5:30 on Sunday where he was diagnosed with feline diabetes. The staff stayed open two and a half hours late to finish up with tests and diagnostics while working out a proper treatment plan for my baby. As much as I apologized, they all claimed to be genuinely willing to stay and help, and that they did. Thank you so much folks! Myself and Maximus Cat appreciate you SO MUCH!

Fantastic experience: We took our cat to Downtown Animal Hospital, because he fell off a portable table and landed on a stool handle. The staff examined him with kindness and respect, and I would recommend Downtown Animal Hospital to anyone for emergency pet care.

Fantastic experience: The girls were very good with my cat, Sabrina. Everything was explained perfectly. We brought Sabrina in with a swollen eye, so I was concerned that she may have scratched the cornea as she likely got swiped by my other cat, Taz. We're taking her in for a follow up tomorrow. She was given a steroid shot and eye drops to take home along with a cone. So far she seems to be doing well and swelling has gone down. We can see her eye now. Very satisfied. Thank you.

Negative experience: This place was an absolutely unbelievable waste of time. There was no one in line, yet they made us wait with my sick cat for over an hour and a half. And as if that wasn’t enough, two dogs arrived later and the vet decided to see them before us. When we asked how much longer we’d have to wait, they told us at least another hour, and that if another dog showed up, we’d be pushed back even more. So unless you have a dog, this is a terrible place to bring your cat. The level of disregard is astonishing.

Negative experience: They were very nice but they took a guess at what was wrong with my dog without tests. Said I needed to get my dog surgery or put her down.wont be going back. Going find a new vet

Negative experience: Made us wait for 3 hours only to not see our dog then send us home. When I called ahead and explained the situation I was told my dog needed to be seen immediately, only to not see her.

Fantastic experience: Our cat was seen on an emergency basis on a Saturday. We did not have to wait long to see a vet. After examination, assessment and further test options we were given a full description of findings. We are very happy with the care of our cat.

Fantastic experience: We had to bring our puppy here about a year ago. We had the best service, the staff knew I was anxious as we had just put 2 of our dogs down a few months prior. They sent me pictures of my boy in recovery and gave me updates without me asking. It was truly amazing and I appreciate everything the staff did for our boy Odin. Thanks to them, he has been able to thrive in his first year of life.

Fantastic experience: Downtown was able to get our dog in right away! Our dog had porcupine quills in its muzzle and one inside her mouth on her tongue. We were not able to remove most of them so sought vet help. It was incredibly pricey. We had no idea quill removal would be 1100$ but we didn’t have a choice and all vets in Southern Ontario seem to charge this. It’s our fault as well for letting her go off leash on the trails, so I cannot blame the high prices. Despite the seemingly high prices, the vet was excellent. Didn’t chat and just told us the facts - perfect. She was also very caring to the dog. My favourite people here are the ones at the front desk and the technician (Amber, I think). Like most places, it’s the techs and assistants who make the place wonderful. Also, they have an excelling room with a great coffee bar. Thanks to the girls at the desk and the techs for making this experience easier

Positive experience: Front of the house is absolutely amazing. Very gracious and make a pet owner feel welcome and safe. Lovely experience. Then you see the vet, i felt scolded and put down. I take good care of my animals and left feeling attacked. Once again cannot say enough good things about Robin, Annabelle and the other nice lady. Highly recommend them!

Fantastic experience: Our 15-year old pug was in distress from an ear infection. After 3 weeks, her regular vet wasn’t able to cure the infection with prescription ear drops and was not willing to administer antibiotics. The whole staff at Downtown Animal Hospital were very caring, understanding and professional. We left with antibiotics and our baby is much improved after just a couple of days. Also, the cost of treatment was very reasonable, considering what we had paid the other vet for no results.

Fantastic experience: The staff were very kind and reassuring when we had to bring Stuart in. He was wheezing and seemed to have some problems breathing. Triage was thorough and the Veterinarian was great. We very much appreciate that Stuart received exemplary treatment and the necessary medications. The follow up phone call also fantastic! Fantastic experience: I have a standard poodle, who currently can't walk( back legs don't work). He had not peed all day, and I was getting frantic. I had called my regular vet, but they were unable to see my dog. So I called the Downtown Hospital. They were able to see him, to treat him, to teach me what to do. Everyone there was incredibly kind, professional, easy to talk to. They helped me get my dog in and out, texted me the next day. All in all, 10 out of 10. Thank you!

Ensuring that patient follow up care plan was forwarded to regular DVM. Follow up next morning was appreciated. My pet showed remarkable improvement within 24 hours. Great option when your pets are unwell, appreciate the hard work and dedication from this team.

I’m incredibly thankful to Dr. Patel and his amazing team of loving techs for the exceptional care they gave my dog, Bruno. When he suddenly showed signs of pain and difficulty moving, I was so worried. Thankfully, Dr. Patel and his team acted quickly and compassionately, diagnosing Bruno with IVDD and starting treatment right away. Their expertise and kindness made all the difference. Bruno was treated with such gentle care and respect, and I felt reassured every step of the way. Thanks to their swift diagnosis and attentive treatment, Bruno is now recovering well and getting back to his happy, tail-wagging self. Dr. Patel and his team are truly a gift to pet owners. Negative experience: Do not go here if you need something that *might* be serious but needs to be checked out because you are not sure. We were told to "come on in" and then sat for 4 hours waiting. Our pup needed 10 minutes of the vet's time to evaluate the seriousness but after 4 hours we were told it would be a few more hours still. Totally understand that more life threatening cases need urgent attention but clearly they are understaffed so should really advise wait times could be a whole day.

Fantastic experience: I can't say enough about the people and doctors who work here.. today was a very hard day for me.. they didnt rush me on saying good bye to my fur baby they are beyond COMPASSIONATE and CARING.. their honesty is amazing. Fantastic experience: I have taken my Frenchie (Kevin) to this Hospital twice in the last year for emergency services due to allergic reactions and breathing difficulties. Dr. Guzman and the team are fantastic! They have treated me and my baby with the most care and compassion. You feel supported and taken care of as soon as you walk in the door. Trishtan (hope it's spelt right) went above and beyond as there was some issues getting the claim covered properly with my insurance but due to her and the office managers hard work it was corrected in a very timely manner with kindness and support. Fantastic experience: Staff were very considerate and helpful when dealing with an issue that couldn’t wait while our usual vet was booked up. They even followed up the next day to see how our cat was doing and check on meds. You have to wait a bit depending on triage, but the system seemed fair with more emergent cases taking priority. Fantastic experience: I was very happy with the care my dog received. All of the staff were friendly and caring and Dr Guzman was very knowledgeable and able to quickly diagnose my dogs illness and get him the treatment he required.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Guzman was amazing! She really cares, all the staff were excellent! Strongly recommend Downtown Animal Hospital when you are having an emergency. Dr.Guzman even sent me an article explaining my dogs condition so I had a better understanding. They also have a very quick and efficient pet loan system, I was approved in seconds and I’m happy to say my almost 13 year old boy is responding to the meds! :)

Fantastic experience: I took my golden retriever Dakota to Downtown Animal Hospital when she was bitten by another dog. Dr. Stephanie and assistant Tenisha (sp?) were patient and kind. Dakota had to be sedated and "stitched up." I was given all the information I need for her follow up care. I am so glad we now have an urgent care veterinary in Kingston. I recommend this hospital completely.

Fantastic experience: Thank you for taking such dedicated and amazing care of our furbabies in their time of need! From having to put my soul dog down last August; to helping our 6½ week old kitten during a low blood sugar last night. Dr. Lang and team saved her life I was so scared that I was losing another furbaby! DAH& PAH are the ONLY vets I will ever use. I've been using their services since September of 2010 and have dealt with the most amazing veterinarian team ever! They have answered any and all questions I've ever had and are extremely helpful and patient. You have an amazing team Dr Caudle!

Negative experience: I called in and was told to bring my sister's cat in for an acute crisis she was having with worrying symptoms that could mean she needed urgent emergency care (cystitis, a bladder obstruction, or a bowel obstruction), but when I got there they told me that they would not provide care because I am not the owner, even despite an emergency. I understand the legalities that they must abide by but I would not recommend them because they should have been consistent in what they told me over the phone call and in-person. I was very disappointed today and it was inconsiderate of my time. I will not be bringing my own cat here for services due to this experience.

Fantastic experience: Very lovely hospital with kind and caring staff. My dog was bitten by another dog. His wounds were infected. We were traveling and went to the clinic. We treated very kindly and our dog was very well taken care of. Thank you to the team there. We would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Very caring staff, thorough medical care and everything was explained very detailed to ensure I understood the plan for care. They were very kind to both me and my dog and worked as quickly (as possible in a busy urgent care clinic). They were very supportive arranging referral for surgery and took extra time to ensure I had all the information I needed. So wonderful to have urgent care available. Cannot thank the staff enough for all their care during a very scary situation.

Negative experience: We arrived at 230 today and did not get seen until 1030PM. Do not go here unless you expect to wait 8, 9 hours for your pet to be pushed to the bottom of the list and be ignored regardless of how much pain they're in, regardless of how uncomfortable they are, regardless of the doctors knowing your pet has a phobia of the vets and a high stress/anxiety alert on file. There aren't even enough vets staffed to see everyone that comes in. This place is absolutely understaffed and i would not recommend. Upon being seen by the actual doctor, she was great and gave us exactly what we needed. But we were pushed to the very back of the waiting list, even behind those who came in after us until we were the last ones in the waiting room an hour before close.

Fantastic experience: Just brought our cat there tonight after he had a seizure. The vet was extremely busy with critical patients but had Annabelle the tech assess his vitals signs, mobility etc and and gave us advice in case he had another seizure tonight. We will see our regular vet in the morning. Thank you so much for giving us the reassurance we needed.

Negative experience: My wife brought our cat in as this was the designated emergency vet. Initial cost was $1084 for just an exam and xrays. Prior to receiving the xray results the vet recommended an extensive “care program” starting with blood work. This would have been very expensive. When we declined the “care program”, the xray results were miraculously ready. Nothing was found. The next day, the cat was taken to our regular vet who diagnosed him with a lung infection by a simple examination. Total cost including medication was about $270. Our cat is fine now! We will not be returning to Downtown Animal Hospital ever again. This is a vet dedicated to taking advantage of people to make a buck during an emegency.

Fantastic experience: Our cat Zemi was seen here and was treated by the staff..They were so kind and thoughtful..The vet was thorough with her exam. The cost was not outrageous. The clinic followed up with us to see how our cat was doing by phone and email So rare is this form of care I almost didn't believe it still exists..but it does at Downtown Animal Hospital
