Fantastic experience: Our girl Curie had a teeth cleaning recently and the experience was as good as it could have been. PAH was upfront with costs, called to give updates during and after the procedure, and took amazing care of our girl. The amazing staff answered all of our questions and gave a thorough summary of her dental and physical health. She is a nervous dog and gets anxiety in new places, but she came home calm with a full belly. We have been going to PAH with various animals over the past 6 years and we have never had a bad experience, we will be going back indefinitely :D
Fantastic experience: They truly care about their clients. I have a very anxious dog and they make sure to take all the time he needs to be comfortable. I also love that they run your bill by you before charging to make sure everything seems accurate AND they’re aware that vet visits can be costly so they explore all options and try to save you as much money as they can while still caring so deeply for your fur babies!

Fantastic experience: Our vet care team is amazing for our elderly cat with hyperthyroidism. They review all of our options at each visit so we can make decisions before proceeding. Right now our cat has reached the age of daily medication and comfort first - that means we feed him whatever he'll eat (he's very picky but likes variety) to try to maintain his weight. Our vet is approachable and has answered any questions we've had. We also just signed up for their "Pet Health Club" which allows us to spread out the cost of the annual check-up, vaccines, and offers a steeply discounted senior blood panel. We've been with Princess Animal Hospital for many years, and couldn't be happier with the care our little buddy receives!
Fantastic experience: Our handsome six month old Pug, Victor, was neutered, microchipped and had dental work done by Dr. Daniel Caudle two days ago. From the moment he was dropped off until he was picked up we had nothing but complete knowledge that everything would be absolutely professional and perfect! And of course we are never disappointed!! We have been loyal to Princess Animal Hospital since 1999! Dr. Caudle and his team are outstanding, accommodating and very loving to all our family members! You always know what to expect. Negative experience: This animal hospital is not looking out for you or your animals best interest. Unfortunately my kitty had a urinary blockage during emergency hours and the price they quoted it at was $3000. If you have no credit card on the spot you're basically screwed. Because it was COVID at the time the staff and veterinarian didn't even let me come in to say goodbye to my animal. Their blog hasn't been updated since 2020 and according to their website they are "PIONEERS IN TECHNOLOGY"...that nobody can afford. I noticed there is no blog about affordable pet care or how many animals you've made people surrender or put down. How does an establishment such as yourself not offer a repayment plan at the exorbitant prices you charge? I hope my animals and everyone else's animals never experience medical issues after hours and I ESPECIALLY hope they don't come to your buisness. His name was Floyd. Urinary blockage. 3 years old.
Negative experience: I went to this clinic once before deciding it wasn't for me. I contacted them before moving from out of province to set up an exam so I could get referrals in place for the specialitist care my dog needs and get a prescription for her regular medication. The first issue was scheduling. The date they told me (via email) for the appointment was not the date they actually booked. I learned this the Friday I thought the appointment was supposed to be, having already booked the afternoon off work, when they called to confirm it for the following Monday. I rearranged my schedule to make the Monday appointment work, leaving another appointment early, only for them to be half an hour late in seeing me and not even acknowledge it. The next issue was that the vet was only willing to provide one specialist referral at a time, despite having my dog's medical records that showed she'd been having annual visits to both cardiology and dentistry. Presumably I would've had to pay another exam fee to get the second referral. Finally, we came to the prescription. I had been getting a prescription from the vet filled at a human pharmacy on the advice of my previous vet. This vet was reluctant to give the prescription, preferring to dispense the medication themselves, despite not even carrying the dose my dog needs. Eventually they were able to get permission from their manager to write it, but I decided I'd keep looking for a new vet. Given this was over a year ago, why am I just writing a review now? Because they keep phoning me, despite my telling them my dog gets care elsewhere. Today I got a phone call from them that just said, "There are no available agents," and hung up.
Fantastic experience: I’ve dealt with this vet many times with my one dog. Always professional and helpful. Sadly, my dog had to cross the rainbow bridge last week, the staff were informative, supportive, and beyond helpful. I would trust these people with animals any time.

Positive experience: Very professional and informative and took great care of my Sasha. However, a very expensive visit as meds are quite a large portion of my bill. Wish that meds were cheaper for animals.

Negative experience: No compassion, grossly incompetent, unprofessional, only focus is on removing your money from your bank account. Took my pet for a bladder issue and after over $10k (mostly for overnight care) they never got to the issue which turned out to be stones. They were kind enough to then charge me to remove them but missed one. No diagnostic procedures beyond visual and blood tests were used before this, where an ultrasound or X-ray would’ve revealed the problem at the beginning. After so much time with the affliction, ended up needing another surgery (went to a different vet) and they did the surgery and removed the stone that was missed. The cost for this was peanuts compared to the quote from PAH and I would have had to go to Toronto to have it done. I saw too many people in grief as they had to make the financial decision to euthanize their animal as they couldn’t afford their exorbitant rates for care. It’s a business, not a vet clinic.

Fantastic experience: It’s taken me some time to find the words because this goes beyond just a great place or just a thank you. Last weekend we had to say goodbye to our little buddy Hank. He was around 17–18 years old, very frail, and had reached the point where he couldn’t care for himself or let us help him. I called place after place looking for support, but every time I was told they needed to run tests and do blood work on a cat who was clearly at the end of his life. Then I tried Princess Animal Hospital. & From the first call, they were different—compassionate, understanding, and ready to help without adding stress. And then when we brought Hank in, the kindness continued. They were professional, gentle, and gave us space to be with him and say our goodbyes. They explained everything with care and treated Hank with so much love. We can’t thank them enough. They truly go above and beyond because they care—not just about the animals, but about the owners too. I would recommend them to anyone. And to the staff that helped with hank, Thank you from the bottom of our hearts

Negative experience: They didn’t mention to us that we could only get next guard chews 12 months after an exam. Now it’s tick season again and they say they can’t give it to us without another 150 Dollar exam even tho there is nothing wrong with our dog and his weight hasn’t changed. This needed to be communicated not everyone has 150 dollars kicking around for an exam plus the price of the next guard itself. We would have bought a years worth which would have really lasted us 2 tick seasons.

As per CVO (College of Veterinarians of Ontario) guidelines, we’re required to have an active Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship to prescribe medications. This includes a physical exam within the past 12 months to ensure your pet’s health and that the medication remains appropriate and safe. We completely understand the frustration, especially during tick season, and appreciate that cost is a real concern. If this wasn’t clearly explained earlier, we sincerely apologize.

Fantastic experience: I am so thankful to have found Downtown and Princess Animal Hospitals! They took great care of my cat who was experiencing oral infection and dental problems which resulted in him being in pain and not eating. Fantastic experience: Over the years, I’ve been to the Downtown and Princess Animal Hospital with a dog and 3 different cats for everything from routine checkups to emergency visits. I always leave feeling really good about the care my animals received, and the staff always take the time to explain everything really well and make sure I feel comfortable and confident every step of the way. I also always get a follow-up email or text a few days later asking about my pet and how they’re doing in regard to whatever we had discussed in their appointment, and they’re happy to answer any questions I may have come up with which I really, really appreciate!! Overall, all the staff here seem very good at what they do, and they put in the effort to make you and your pet feel genuinely cared for. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

Fantastic experience: The Princess Animal Hospital is much more than a veterinary clinic - it is a veterinary CARING clinic. I have been their client for over 10 years and every staff member I dealt with during that time has been unfailingly kind, helpful and knowledgeable. Dr. Caudle and his staff have transformed my rescue dogs, suffering from multiple health conditions, into happy, healthy dogs, living their very best lives. If this were a 10-star review, PAH would get ten stars!

Negative experience: I’m disappointed in our experience at Princess Animal Hospital. We took our dog for shots but since he had thrown up that day we went with the vet’s recommendation to come back in two weeks for his shots when he felt better. We paid for his exam and left. When we were scheduled to come back, they insisted on charging us the examination fee again (along with the vaccination fees) even though we already paid it two weeks before when his weight, teeth, heart etc were checked. How could those things change in two weeks? Clearly this vet is out to get every dollar out of customers possible.
We understand your concerns. The initial exam focused on addressing your pet’s illness and options for treatment. A separate consultation is required to ensure their vaccinations and overall health plan are appropriate. This includes a thorough discussion of their needs for the year. We aim to provide the best care for your pet, which includes making sure we have discussed all their needs for the upcoming year. This does require consultation time with the vet. Fantastic experience: As new clients of Princess Animal Hospital and to Kingston, we couldn’t be happier with the service we have receive from first point of contact to the present time. Dr. Ouellet and Sarah K have given Ellie the utmost of care since arriving. Their professionalism, knowledge and dedication to Ellie’s condition have been deeply appreciated. Negative experience: I have been going to Downtown/Princess Animal Hospital for almost ten years. I was always told that, when the time came, they would be there for me, with my First Pet, for my First Loss. Last Thursday evening, my elder cat was incredibly sick and near death. In a panic, I went to the Urgent Care Hospital at the Traffic Circle. They told me they were at capacity and could not help me. They said to come back the next day and *maybe* someone could help me. I understand being busy; we are busy at work in the service industry. But the lack of sympathy; the inability to help me or recommend someone...Consequently, I cannot in good conscience recommend PAH to anyone. They *were* able to help me the next day; and they were reasonable when it came time for him to pass - So I'm giving two stars.
We are truly sorry for your loss and understand how frustrating this experience was. While we strive to see as many patients as possible, there are times when we reach capacity at our general practice and urgent care. We don’t like saying no, but it’s necessary to ensure the we can provide care to the patients currently at the hospital and not turn people away after potentially long wait times.
Negative experience: Worst customer service or, for that matter, human companion. Called Saturday evening enquiring about my sick kitten. To be told that were not available, but when my husband asked if there was another place that could see her and their repsone, I quote, "Nope." Guess what not in the city, but there is. This is not a hospital this is a bunch of mean people who only take the people they want and treat the rest like garbage. Thank you, Princess Animal Hospital Bayridge. My kitten has passed away, but you wouldn't care. Your "NOPE" answer proved your staff have no heart or just don't care. I bet they would laugh in your face if they could.
Negative experience: I would never recommend going here, especially for exotics. Truly terrible experience bringing my rat Joey here. 275$ for incompetent care and they deprived us of valuable time that would have been spent getting proper care somewhere else. Joey is now dead from this completely inadequate care and time it wasted. The vet I saw was Dr. Elizabeth Harnett. Expect to wait at least an hour to be seen even if the clinic is empty and then an hour on top of that sitting in the windowless exam room alone in awful chairs. Dr. Harnett had very limited knowledge on proper treatments for common rat diseases. Merely gave additional antibiotics to a rat with severe neurological issues as a failure in differential diagnosis in her unfounded belief it was an ear infection. Joey had already been on antibiotics and prednisone (for upper respiratory infection) for several days before developing circling and she presented with no head tilt making ear infection extremely unlikely. In addition she told me to discontinue prednisone and switch to Meloxicam, which is insane in the case of increased intracranial pressure and inflammation present in PT. Discontinue the only medication that is helping and instead use a much less effective one. The next day I pleaded for her to adminster dexamethasone, but I found out from the reception staff that she only adminstered 0.1mg/kg. The standard dosage range for pituitary gland tumour is 5-20 times that, and even that was like pulling teeth to have them do. When I brought this up as an issue she said that because we didn't do an incredibly expensive MRI (in Ottawa) they claimed we couldn't really be sure it was a pituitary tumour and therefore she wasn’t comfortable giving the proper dose, despite consistent behavioural signs and the risk benefit analysis strongly favouring treatment given the frequency of pituitary tumour in rats (~20% of female rats die from it), the large therapeutic index of dexamethasone in rats, and the low chance of differential diagnosis. When it was clear I wasn’t happy with the care provided I was removed as a client from the clinic, told I was too confident, lied to, and down 275$ for an incompetent checkup and antibiotics, and the medicine I was waiting for (cabergoline) was cancelled, without them informing me of that fact until I called the next day. Her actions and words were very inconsistent. Since she had committed to specially order Cabergoline it meant she was willing to provide standard treatment for pituitary tumour, but then for some reason not give the proper dose of dexamethasone. Whenever she failed to provide proper care she hid behind not being an exotic vet, but then when I provided her with resources that delineate proper care she refused to learn and implement that care, instead hiding behind her self-perceived authority as a vet to claim any information I could offer was useless. They delay ordering special medicines from compounding pharmacies until Thursdays and medicines aren’t delivered over the weekend which means any less common lifesaving medicines are delayed in arrival by ~1 week, completely insufficient in emergency scenarios. Joey was euthanized several days later at Thousand Islands veterinary hospital because by that time she was doing too poorly to justify the suffering that extensive care, that would likely not have been enough to help, by that point.
We understand your frustration and are truly sorry for your loss. As we discussed, using un-prescribed medications limits our treatment options and raises concerns about causing harm. Dr. Hartnett did explore all available options, including contacting local pharmacies, but we must prioritize safe and appropriate care which often requires contacting compounding pharmacies for pet appropriate dosing. While we’re committed to working with owners, we won’t tolerate abuse and disrespectful treatment of team members, which led to the termination of our relationship. We appreciate your feedback and wish you the best in the future.
Fantastic experience: We've been taking our golden doodle to Princess Animal Hospital for 5 years. All of the staff has always been caring and friendly. I couldn't ask for better support from Dr Buchwald through my dog's lymphoma.
Fantastic experience: I brought my girl Ruby in because she was lethargic, belly bloated and not eating. Dr Garcia and Sarah T checked her and took her for an ultrasound asap. She had closed Pyometra. An infection of the uterus in unspayed generally 6+ years old. Dr Garcia immediately called to Downtown Urgent Care and told them she needed surgery asap. My 6 year old rescued Cavalier King Charles Spaniel would have died if it wasn't for the quick actions of Dr Garcia and Sarah T. They are both so kind and empathetic people. I have had Ruby in quite alot lately for a few small issues. I just can't say enough about all the staff here. Thank you all for being a part of saving my girls life. Now we can have many more wonderful adventures together. ❤️

Fantastic experience: We brought our puppy from Ottawa to Kingston to get a laparoscopic spay done. The staff were incredible in arranging everything and we were able to get our blood work done prior in Ottawa and combine the pre-op with the surgical day. Dr Caudle was very kind and took the time to explain everything and what to expect that day. The staff were very sweet and sent us updates with photos of our dog after while recovering. We got two calls from Dr Caudle to update us after the surgery and when to pick her up. That evening we also got a courtesy call from the clinic to check in as well as the following day. Compared to our vet in Ottawa we have never experienced such a positive experience. The surgery was excellent and our dog was left with a tiny incision that healed quickly with no issues. It wasn’t obvious the next day that she had even had surgery and did not seem to have pain. We would 100% recommend the team to anyone who is looking for vet care. Many thanks!

Negative experience: Brought my cat in for randomly collapsing after throwing up. Showed up for urgent care, waited over an hour for triage and after triage I was told I was 2nd in queue to be seen by the vet. 4 hours later I have to ask the clerk when will the vet be helping me and am told by the clerk that the vet says my cat is perfectly fine without ever having seen her. Since the vet dictated that my cat was ok I was dropped to the bottom of the queue and told the will see my at 9pm, 13 hours after checking in. The lack of professionalism is disgusting. Avoid this vet, you and your beloved pet will be treated better anywhere else in the city.

There was a miscommunication regarding your cat's condition, it is not that we believed your cat was fine, but that more urgent cases arrived and you were prioritized based on other patients in the queque. Fantastic experience: In the past, I have taken two pets here to help them cross the rainbow bridge. Every single person in this office made us feel welcome and cared for. They helped appease our hearts during the most painful times. Later, I took my cat in for emergency care. Again, I was met with compassion for my elderly lady. They even took time to call a couple of days later to make sure she felt better. Our pets are now under the care of Dr. Ouellet and we couldn’t be more grateful. She takes the time to explain every detail, presents all options and never pressures us in any way. Beyond all of this, I’m left feeling like the wellbeing of my pets is a top priority here. Fantastic experience: Great effective treatment for a skin disorder, the staff were friendly and thorough. I always wonder, though, how the companies can charge so much money for medications that have been on the market for a long time and are a small fraction of the price if you were purchasing them for humans.
Fantastic experience: Our 5y/o cane corso, Luna, was diagnosed with cancer just a few days ago. It had spread fast, into her chest, and there was nothing we could do but hope she made it through the weekend. Even with being on medication to help with the nausea and pain, we woke up this morning and we knew it was her time. She loves her car rides, so we loaded her up, and made our way into town. I called PAH as soon as they opened to let them know that we were on our way with her. There wasn’t a slot available with a doctor until 11am, but Luna was quite calm in the car as long as we were moving, so we just drove around and let her enjoy her last car ride for about an hour. We arrived quite early, just after 10. I went in and the receptionist was so kind and patient with me, setting up my file (as this is not our usual vet) and getting a room ready for us. We brought her in, they had a soft bed and blanket ready for her, and told us to take all of the time we needed to say goodbye to our sweet girl. The staff talked us through every single step, I couldn’t stay in there after she fell asleep, it was too hard for me to be there when her heart stopped beating. My father and my sister stayed, but only for so long, as it is extremely hard for all of us. But my sister asked the lovely technician if somebody was able to stay with Luna for a while, to which she happily agreed and stayed with her while we left. We cannot thank you and your wonderful staff enough for helping us through this terribly difficult time. Luna was such an angel, and she was so lucky to be in the hands of such caring humans in her last moments. I know it isn’t easy for you either. Thank you so, so much.

Fantastic experience: Love the vets and the vet techs here. My dog Sasha is a patient and they are extremely helpful and patient. They give tips and tricks to training them to handle vaccines and regular exams as best as possible. They are incredible with Sasha, she can be nervous and they definitely make sure that she gets a face full of food to make the experience good for her!! Personally, I think the prices are average and reasonable for the practice considering healthcare in general for animals (including humans) is pricy. This hospital also offers care credit through a third party company for emergencies. Thank you for your service vets and staff!!!

Fantastic experience: Firstly, my dog LOVES it here. He has never enjoyed going for a vet visit ever, but he loves the team at PAH. Not only do they truly care about the animals, they care about the owners too. They have always treated us fairly and truthfully giving options along the way. They're positive and compassionate. I have read reviews complaining of cost, but animals (pets) cost money, and this has never been a secret. As a pet owner this is something I have always known, so I plan. PAH has never over charged anymore than any first class caring veterinarian clinic I have ever visited, and I've lived in some of the most expensive cities in Canada. Fantastic experience: It's been a year since we moved and my pets have been at PAH; however, my experiences over the 4 years I was in Kingston were really good. Although my beloved rabbit did pass away, they did absolutely everything they could and were honest about her condition. When I took my other rabbit to them, they were friendly and took the time to know her (they even added her to their cute pets slideshow!). I wish I had left a good review sooner, but it is only after moving to another city that I realized just how fantastic their service is.

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but praise for every staff member, tech, and vet at Princess! They once again came to our aid last night 10 minutes before closing to take care of our 7-year old feline who had been vomiting intermittently for almost a month (we have 2 cats and it took a little while to determine which one was getting sick) and then developed ever-worsening diarrhea. Joelle stayed an extra hour as did Terri-Lynn to try to diagnose the problem and make our cat comfortable. The follow-up the next day was equally thorough and kind. We consider ourselves very lucky to have found Jeff and his superb colleagues. We are always in the best of hands. p.s I'd give them even more stars if I could :-)
Fantastic experience: We have recently moved our animals to Princess Animal Hospital and we couldn’t be happier. The care all 3 of our animals have received has been comprehensive and thorough. At each appointment, I have had the opportunity to ask questions and never felt rushed. The care shown to our dogs (especially our rescue who is nervous) and cat demonstrates the commitment and dedication of all the staff. Negative experience: We used this vet for just over 4 years, for our Bernedoodle Eddie. We always felt that they were expensive and trying to upsell us - clearly this is a business first, caregivers next. Our worst experience came this past weekend, that ended with us having to euthanize our beloved boy who was only 4.5 years old. We went to PAH after Eddie was vomiting and lethargic for a day. After issuing a $1400 hold on my credit card, they completed an exam and an x-ray. The results showed a blockage, and Dr. Flynn went through our options, indicating that surgery would lead to the best outcome given possible complications of removing the blockages. Again, we were given a bill, this time of just below $6500 for surgery - the cost seemed huge, but our Eddie was only 4, and we didn't want our kids to lose their family pet and we had reason to feel it was straight forward fix. Eddie had to wait until the middle of the night for his surgery, and we received word that the surgery went well. The following day, it was one complication after another, again with what we felt like each phone call and next phase of care costing more and more money. The evening after the surgery, we got a final call from the clinic that Eddie wasn't doing well and that he needed another surgery to see what went wrong, and that they couldn't do it because the surgeon canceled on coming in, so if we went ahead with a second surgery, Eddie would be transferred. Either this, or euthanize. We made the hard decision to say goodbye to Eddie, after being concerned at affordability of a second surgery. When we arrived back to the clinic with our children to say goodbye to Eddie for the last time, they withheld Eddie from us, until we looked at the bill (which they already charged us with). UPDATE: we now understand after a conversation with one of the Vets who relayed information from the surgeon that the additional surgery would NOT have repaired the damage. We are now wondering why they offered this expensive option to begin with. If they did their due diligence and reviewed the notes, and spoke with the surgeon, they should not have offered this as it wouldn't have saved our dog, and only cost us an additional $6000+.

Negative experience: The reason for the two star review is because they did not disclose all costs associated with treatment and it costs a CRAZYYYY amount of money to have your animal treated here. They are extremely over priced, over $700 for one x ray picture is insane. Decent care and nice staff but they lack in the communication department. I will not be back, I would rather drive to Ottawa (living in Belleville now) and have my cat seen by her normal vet.
Fantastic experience: We had an excellent overall experience from the initial consultation through to the neutering surgery and post follow up. The reception staff, technicians and Veterenarian we interacted with were all very caring and provided an excellent service. We were most pleased with the post operative follow up, the care and concern was much appreciated. With over 30 years of Vet care we can't say anywhere was it's equal. Thank You All

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff. Very informative and helped with how I should move my girl when she couldn't stand up up at all to get her in for care. When I called back they had even talked amongst themselves about options for me and let me know of a few services in town that could help in my situation if it was in the week and happened again, and even offered I check with a telemed to see if I could get prescribed something to make her more comfy before moving her there. Made me feel like they care and I feel more calm about the situation now too. Really appreciate all the help

Negative experience: When I went to have a rat put down here, I was charged over $300 for it. I was very upset I was losing her and just payed it without thinking. Talking to the owner over the phone, she told me the person who booked my apt shoud have warned me about the cost. She also informed me that they charge a flat fee for all animals, regardless of size or species because of thier standard of care. The prices are very high and they are not sympathetic about it.

Fantastic experience: We had two dealing with Princess Animal Hospital with a very sick dog, Jade. Back in June 2022 was our first experience with the emergency vet. They were very kind and thorough. They explained everything very well and forwarded reports to our regular vet. Last week Jade took a serious turn for the worse. When they opened at 08:00am we called to explain the situation. We knew Jades time had come and they told us to come in anytime. They were extremely compassionate with all of us and Jade passed over gently and will be waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. Chantal was above amazing and her treatment of Jade in her last hours gives us comfort in our grief. I would highly recommend Princess Animal Hospital.

Negative experience: Had an emergency with my puppy. Took her to the urgent care at Princess animal hospital when I got there they said it wouldn’t be too long. Waited hours just to have to go to a different urgent care vet.

Fantastic experience: I recieved a card in the mail today, that included my babys paw print, I bawled liked a baby as I am now typing this. Friday the 13th I had to make the hardest decision ever to put my 12 year old baby to sleep. Everyone there was so kind and so caring. Dr.Lang was amazing. Everyone there was. Fantastic experience: Had to take my Maggie to the after-hours clinic. They triage her fairly quickly. We waited a bit but definitely was worth it. They were very busy with much worse cases. They diagnosed and treated her. She has definitely improved since and hopefully will make a full recovery. Thank you again. Very kind and friendly staff. The vet I dealt with was great and explained everything. Much appreciate all the help. Would highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: I had to bring my 21 year old cat, Socks, to cross the rainbow bridge. A few things. The staff were so incredibly kind. I wish I knew all your names but thank you for your gentleness and kindness on a difficult day. Dr. Isobel Guzman is an excellent doctor with the best bedside manner i have ever seen. Kind is an understatement as to how this doctor dealt with me and Socks. I really want her to know how much it meant to me and my girl Socks. Understanding, empathic and genuine. Now for the room my girl and I were brought into for her final moments. No bright fluorescent light, but one pole lamp in the corner of the room with a beige shade for soft lighting, the cold stainless steel table was covered with a brown blanket, no equipment in the room and just homey and peaceful. I have owned many pets and have had to go through this a number of times. This room was set up as a palliative room. It was so nice to be in for my girls final moments. Saying goodbye is never easy, but thank you to PAH staff for everything you did for Socks and I on November 18th. You are appreciated.

Fantastic experience: Thank goodness for this clinic. Almost every vet I called gave me a two month wait time for an appointment, but one or two kindly referred me to the urgent care at this clinic. Because other patients were much more critical we waited 5 hours, but same day care is a miracle. All the staff have been kind, compassionate, and responsive. Something was missed the first visit, so over phone and email the vet did an immediate followup consult and prescribed antibiotics. If you need care right away and can't wait weeks or months to see your vet, this is the place!

Negative experience: If I could leave no stars I would. I brought my sick puppy to the emergency clinic after he started acting different. I was told they would need to do blood work which they did and they told me it came back normal. They gave him a anti-nausea shot and a water shot and sent him home. The next day I brought him back to the clinic as he was still not himself, again they gave him the two shots and sent him on his way. They did not follow up with me nor did they seem to care or see the urgency that he was only 12 weeks old and something was obviously wrong. I took my baby to his regular vet later in the week where my vet reviewed the blood work completed at princess animal hospital. He was shocked that they allowed me to take him home and didn’t prescribe him any medication. His blood work was not NORMAL as they stated his white blood cells where off the chart and immediately my vet told me he had a severe infection. My dog was prescribed anti-biotics given another blood test and had an X-ray done. A few days went by and my baby didn’t get any better. I had to take him again back to the vet where they tried other medications. I’m heartbroken to say my dog was put to rest on Thursday. I wish they had taken the time and not told me that my dog had normal blood work as it was obviously not. I’m extremely disappointed and now have to mourn the loss of my dog, not to mention the absurd amount they charged me.
Fantastic experience: I had to bring in my pet for a euthanasia. The staff were very kind and compassionate, explaining to me the process and my options without any judgement. They treated my little friend with respect as they took him and offered to send me ink paw prints as a memory. Dr. Flynn in particular was very patient and kind. I appreciate their service.

Stop with the copy & paste responses and ACTUALLY TRY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM!!!!!******** PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS TO THIS VET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My sister brought her cat who was having major health/bladder/kidney issues to this vet THREE TIMES. THREE VET VISITS they told her it was just stress. The cat could not pee, was throwing up , beyond lethargic and clearly dying. Three vet visits and thousands of dollars later , they claim it to be just stress. Thank god my sister is smart enough to know her cat was dying and brought him into a reputable vet. Within 5 minutes he was diagnosed with mega kidney issues, crystal's (which princess claims weren't there) and a blockage. Her cat would have died if she did not bring him somewhere else. When asked why they managed to mis-diagnose THREE TIMES secretary got nasty on the phone, extremely rude and disrespectful and even hung up the phone and lied about what their names were. IF YOU WANT YOUR ANIMAL TO LIVE DONT BRING THEM HERE.

Fantastic experience: The service my husband and I received here was excellent. It was such a difficult time for us. Our senior cat was very sick and we knew it was time to take her in. Fantastic experience: After one animal hospital in Kingston failed to recognize signs of dehydration in my dad's cat, this place provided the perfect care at a critical time and saved his life. If you are experiencing a pet emergency, this is the best choice. With a very dedicated, friendly and helpful staff.
Negative experience: Our Corso was suffering and we did not have a vet for him. We were told to go here as they handled emergencies. Well myself and many others waited and waited. Wee were always told ....another hr...that turned in almost 8hrs waiting for them. We watched lots of people go in and out with their pets and leave. We were totally ignored. I felt like I had a contagious disease. The nurses were nice but the owners need to do a reality check. I will never use this hospital ever. And maybe it was a blessing as we were told by our new vet that we saw in minutes....not hrs....that they would have charged us over two grand to get done what was needed. These folks will make you wait....make you feel that there is something wrong with you....make your pet suffer for hrs not caring at all. Do yourself a favor and find somebody else....shame on you folks!

Fantastic experience: I had to bring in my cat for a slight emergency and although it was a long wait and a bit expensive I was relieved to get friendly, quality same day care. My cats feeling better and I now know if anything extremely serious happens I have somewhere to go without an appointment.

Negative experience: My chinchilla was paralyzed in the legs when jumping, after going to this hospital they did a checkup for almost 1 hour, they said it might never move, I asked how they checked it and they said: touch check , and then they asked me to buy dog medicine for my chinchillas, the inspection fee was 120$, and they told me to report me if I didn't buy it. But my chinchilla moved on its own 3 hours after they came to their conclusion. So my suggestion is if your pet is not sick and you are really rich choose this hospital and you will not lose anything other than money because your pet is not sick.
Negative experience: Took my 10-year-old lab there the other day to be treated. She had not eating in three days, had terrible tremors at night. I could not get in with any vet in Kingston, they all recommended this place. Because she is a lab (Always happy), when they met her out front, they diagnosed her as not that severe. We waited 2.5 hrs while they took every other animal instead of her. When we asked how much longer they admitted taking other animals instead of her, they did not seem very concerned. Said another 3-4 hour wait, so we left. She got significantly worse, I called again, and they said it would still be another long wait for her, unfortunately, even if I went tonight. I BEGGED Sydneham vet to take her. Thankfully, they made time. She has Lyme disease and is now dying because we were too late to have her looked at. Would NEVER recommend anyone take their dog here. I am heartbroken now, this dog was my everything, I saved her from a kill shelter, and she got me through the worst days of my life. Because of their unskilled staff, my poor baby is dying.
Fantastic experience: I have been going to this vet for five years, and I have nothing but excellent things to say. They have been with me when my cats got sick, giving them fluids and special foods. They checked in with me over the next few days inquiring about how my cats were. They were with me through diagnosing my cat with urinary crystals. They helped run tests within my budget to assure my cats health. Again, they were so helpful and caring. They were there for regular check ups and exams, always just a phone call away if I had questions. The staff is always patient and caring They were here for me today when my cat underwent a dental cleaning. I was very nervous, and despite it being a very busy day they answered my calls and my questions during the day of the procedure. When I picked up my cat I knew he had been well cared for. While he was under they clipped his nails, and even cut out a mat that he has behind his ear that I was unable to get him to sit still for for me to remove. Also, he smelt really good. Not sure if that was just a smell rubbed off on him from the cage or if they gave him a mini bath but he smelt good. Princess animal hospital offers the absolute best care for my cats. It is unparalleled anywhere. I know there are less expensive vets, but I would never consider going elsewhere. The staff, the care, the follow up - all outstanding. Negative experience: A fair warning for anyone else coming to this hospital, be prepared to wait. I've taken my dog to other emergency vets before and everything was done in 4 hours. I understand triage and don't mind waiting, but 4 hours before someone even came to see what was the matter with her and another 4 hours before we eventually gave up and left. Not to mention we waited maybe 30-45 mins after texting and calling the posted number upon arrival, following the posted instructions, only to go in eventually and then be given paperwork to fill out. Everyone we encountered was courteous but to wait this long without communication from the office is a bit absurd. I'm usually a patient person and understand the struggles during covid, but this was an extremely disappointing experience.

Negative experience: Honestly really upset with the way things went here. We had an emergency with our cat and were told no triage doctor was in until 6 or 6:30 I can’t remember which. We were okay with waiting until then but also why isn’t there someone there for emergencies during the day? Initially we were told the charge would be $125, then $900 but that it wouldn’t be charged until the end when she was treated and discharged. Then we were told we were not allowed to leave her there until we paid. We needed a couple hours to scrounge some money together so when we were told she wouldn’t be treated until we paid we said we were going to take her home. The vet tech or whoever said “okay just one second” went back inside, and never came out again. We went in after an hour and told them we wanted to take her home, and we were told she didn’t receive ANY treatment whatsoever in the 3.5 hours she was in there. I guess we appreciate the attempt with the ice pack to keep her fever down, but we’re not impressed at all and really upset at the lack of someone telling us what was going on, and severely conflicting information regarding payment. The receptionist was very nice, and the vet techs were nice too. It just felt like nobody knew what was going on and the lack of communication with the pets owner was not cool.

Fantastic experience: We have been going to Princess Animal Hospital for about three years now. They were originally my back up care incase my veterinarian was unable to see them, now they are my full time care. We personally see Dr.Caudle for our chinchillas and degus health care needs. I personally love how they let my pets run around on the floor, I really think this helps take the stress and anxiety away from my pets when their there for a check up. I also love how Dr.Caudle and his assistant sit on the floor to do their exam. I personally find the exam tables dangerous for these small pets, so this one simple action is a huge one in my books. I can contact Dr.Caudle by email with any concerns or questions I have, and he is always happy to help.The staff are really friendly and no exactly who I and my pet are which makes me feel special and important. Most recently Dr.Caudle suggested we seek a chinchilla specialist for my chinchillas dental disease, and we did. Unfortunately we received some bad news and it was best suggested we put him to rest. When it came time to do so Dr.Caudle came in early for me, bought me to a special room, gave me plenty of time before and after the fact, he was the only one I saw which was nice because I really didn't want to be surrounded by a bunch of people in that moment. I'd like to add that I was alone and when my closest friend showed up to comfort me he had know trouble getting in. I would recommend Princess Animal Hospital to any pet owner.
Fantastic experience: One of the best Clinics I've ever been to. We came in out of town and the staff was beyond courteous to help. The clinic didn't go for the cash grab of adding extra appointments prior to the surgery, didn't push unnecessary procedures. We are beyond pleased with this clinic. Highly recommended it. Fantastic experience: The team at this emergency vet is responsive and patient and overall very sweet and comforting. Dr.Rose saw my little dog after he got a bite, and she was very kind to explain everything about the injury and treatment to me. The entire staff were an absolute pleasure to deal with despite the stress behind our visit! Would definitely recommend.

Negative experience: Having to wait 6-8 hours, claiming you’re “taking customers in” while there is no waiting customers entering the building. It is clear your priority is money-spending clients, and not the animals with genuine emergencies. Very shady, not recommended.

Fantastic experience: Thank you to the staff who was working feb 20. Unfortually i didnt catch the name of the tech or the vet who helped us. My husband and I took our sick dog here to say goodbye. When we arrived we had to call and were told there was a bit of a wait time and to wait in the car. At first i was a little upset about this since we called ahead but because it is a first come first serve animal hospital i understand. And the wait time wasnt horrible. It was a blessing because it allowed me more time to spend with my dog. When it was our turn the vet explained the process and answered all of our questions. I was worried because of Covid that we werent going to be allowed in with him. The staff was very understanding and caring about our sitution. They allowed us to come in the clinic and be with our dog in his final moments. They allowed us as much time as we needed to say goodbye. Thank you again.
Fantastic experience: I am very happy with the care and service that was provided for my rabbit. My most recent visit was for his neutering. I really appreciated that the team communicated with us immediately after his surgery, to give us peace of mind. Post opt instructions / info was communicated great. I also received two calls from the clinic the next day for follow up. I overall had a great experience with this clinic and found the team to be very knowledgeable, friendly and very supportive during the process :)

Negative experience: This clinic clearly prioritizes making money over caring for pets. My puppy was not given a concrete diagnosis and the cost of things was never discussed until I was given the machine. Moreover, the wait was ridiculous. I was in the parking lot for 4+ hours with a sick puppy and they knew this. While I understand the concept of triage, we weren’t even given an estimate of how long we would need to be there and they take you out of the queue as soon as you leave the parking lot. Keep in mind this happens in the winter at night with negative temperatures. They also don’t let you or your pet go inside. I’ve been to other clinics that at least take the pet inside to watch them and provide you with some sense of comfort while you wait for the vet to see them. Other clinics still have allowed me to be in the room during the physical examination. COVID-19 protocols are used as the explanation for this, but I also saw a tech talk to another owner who was not wearing a mask and there was no distancing, so how careful are they really being? Are they just using COVID-19 to prevent having owners inside and seeing what they do with our pets? Consider yourself lucky if you can properly talk to a vet and actually get in touch with them again if you have follow-up questions.
Fantastic experience: So grateful for the excellent level of care my rats have received here. I have used both their 24hr emergency clinic and booked regular appointments and been happy with all my experiences. While a lot of the appointments have been through the phone because of COVID, I have appreciated the thorough communication and exceptional care my boys have received.
