Fantastic experience: Took our cat in today for a checkup. First visit here and the staff was great and very friendly. Dr. Llera was upfront and blunt which I appreciated. Gave her a thorough check up and let me know approximate cost of future dental care so we could prepare for the eventuality. Dr. Llera was very gentle with her as she's quite shy and overall my first impression was great.

Negative experience: Rude veterinarian. Was very abrupt and rough with my elderly dog. The place feels very unhygienic and smells strongly of cat pee. They are clearly not investing any money back into maintaining the facilities. I spent thousands on surgery and the vet couldn't even be bothered to speak with me before or after. Lacking in communication and bedside manner compared to other clinics I have been to.

Fantastic experience: I wanted to find a local vet that cared and also had decent pricing. We didn’t want to be pushed into things and wanted honesty. We get all that here. They have an amazing bundle for older kitties. I have a 13 year old cat that is my whole world. They took care of him and did the tests in a bundled price. We will continue to keep them as our vet here in Kingston.

Fantastic experience: I love this vet dr Llera is awsome he explains everything so that you can understand what he is telling you.. he gets right down with your pet.. my pup just loves everybody in there your visit isn’t rushed.. he takes his time and looks over every part of your pet.. he’s just an overall good vet

Negative experience: Wow, the rude experience I've had today is shocking. There was an extremely distressed cat in the neighbourhood in need of help, so i was able to catch it & walk it over to the vet clinic to have it scanned for a microchip & be guided on what the next steps i should take are & was met with an extremely rude woman at the front desk who pretty much refused to help. Not only was I shocked by her behaviour, but being new to the neighbourhood was planning on making this my go to vet clinic for both of my animals & now I absolutely refuse to step foot in the place again. I recommend they encourage their staff to have better customer service & a little more compassion for animals in a variety of situations.

Fantastic experience: They’ve always been great with my cat (now 10) and dog (now 4). I’ve been taking them here since I got them, and I’ve always felt the staff are kind and thorough and practical with diagnostics and treatment plans, never ever pushy or unsympathetic and happy to answer any questions along the way.

Fantastic experience: Really appreciate the care and services from the vet and technicians (from diagnostics and treatments to insurance claims support) for my sweet cat Guzz. I never felt like they were letting money drive their recommendations. When it came to end of life matters for Guzz, they supported my choice for end of life care at home and provided contacts for me to connect with. Thanks again.

Fantastic experience: I brought my dog in because she was having issues with her tail (she had a mass on her tail for awhile and was causing problems). They never rushed me to make any type of decision and always made sure I knew what my options were. They always picked up the phone and constantly reassured me with any issues I had regarding her care. The surgeon was amazing and called me during the surgery to make sure I knew what was going on. They even cut her nails during the surgery which I was going to do after her surgery so that was really nice of them. Overall they take such good care of my dog and the prices are amazing!!

Fantastic experience: I was concerned about costs. When I expressed that they were very kind and understanding. They gave me honest suggestions and quotes for different care for my cat Hammy. I never felt judged. I left feeling very grateful for their services.

Negative experience: I wish there was a way to give 0 stars. Due to the hyper fixation on 'diet' being an issue, the reluctance to do an ultrasound as it would "not show us anything useful", my poor sweet cat is now in critical condition. Had I not sought out a second opinion that was willing to do an xray and ultrasound, my sweet cat would not be with us today. I am glad I trusted my gut and would advise all pet parents to do the same. Dr.Llera's incompetence has left my 8 year old cat fighting for his life, very literally. I had been going to this clinic for the past 20 years and ever since they were bought by a corporation, the care and support has declined in a heartbreaking way. Our new vet at an independent clinic is absolutely appalled by the previous prognosis and recommendation, specifically to use pepcid ac as a treatment. Please do not ever give your pet pepcid ac---it has negatively impacted my sweet cat, who has been vomiting almost every day for the past 6 months, and even vomited up a blood clot which was dismissed by this veterinarian team at KVC as "not a big deal". Turns out, it was a very big deal and now we are fighting for the life of my cat and this is not an exaggeration. I am furious with the "diet" prognosis as it has actually made my cat worsen, and furious with Dr.Llera's hyperfixation on it being diet even when my cat has lost almost 10 pounds in 6 months and won't eat the prescribed Hydrolyzed Food I was instructed to purchase. After many food trials, useless medication and reluctance to do an ultrasound, we might lose one the most precious and sweet cats. When they sent my cats file to the new vet, they failed to send the blood work. The new vet clinic had to call to request it and they were met with attitude and more reluctance. Unacceptable. In a particular appointment, Dr.Llera said it was "fine" that my cat had lost some weight because was "over weight anyway", and then five minutes later told me I was "not feeding him enough". I should have found a new vet years ago when Dr.Llera proved his incompetence the first time when he misdiagnosed my ginger tabbys blackheads as flea fecal matter....it was not fleas. Additionally, this clinic is where we said goodbye and euthanized our 21 year old siamese with a veterinarian that no longer works there (I do not wonder why she left). Apparently, they did not bother to update their records to reflect that. As both current vets here were insisting I bring in my other cat (who is perfectly healthy), they mistook her for our cat we had to put down there, almost 9 years ago. Very poor bedside manners. All in all, please take my story as a caution against this clinic. The staff are excellent, but the veterinarians are extremely questionable. Please go and find a private, independent vet clinic and save yourself time, resources and the life and health of your pets.

Fantastic experience: My dog Cara was spayed at the clinic and i was very impressed with the communication from staff. Shortly after her surgery I received a call from the vet detailing Cara's procedure, condition and care needs, and an email detailing the same as well as emergency numbers if needed. When I picked her up all the important facts were provided again along with encouragement to contact the clinic with any questions or concerns should they arise. I received another call the next day to check on her condition and again encourage me to call with any concerns. I truly felt like they cared about my pet and my satisfaction with their service.

Positive experience: I have been in once so far and it was a good visit. All three of my pets were checked over and they all had a good experience. I would like to give another rating after I have been in a few more times with my pets.

Negative experience: Does not answer phone. Does not call back in acceptable amount of time. Message says to keep calling. They do not answer. Management needs to have better protocols for this. It's an urgent matter but not emergency. I should not have to go clog up a vet hospital for such issues. Very disappointed. Please do better. Animals need you.

Fantastic experience: I've been with this Vet. clinic for 15 years. I adopted my dog at 8 weeks of age and they have taken excellent care of him. I just went through a major medical event with my dog (Toby) and they showed straight up compassion to me and my boy that has lived beyond his breeds typical life span. They are knowledgeable, and give great advice. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fantastic experience: I’ve been with this clinic for 5-6 years. I find in MY opinion the prices to be reasonable, from required shots to spay/neuter. Staff are always knowledgeable and friendly. I always appreciate when I book an appointment, and you’re provided with an estimate to help plan your future bills for your furry companions . Plus it comes in handy but you can add finances to your account to help reduce future costs if you so wish, also gift cards for your friends & family to help furry loved ones in the future financially.

Fantastic experience: The receptionist and the vet were wonderful!! They accomodated my dog CoCo, in what we thought may be an urgent situation. The vet discussed all options with me and I felt very relieved and reassured when we left. Yesterday was a pretty rough day with many other things happening, and I have an anxiety disorder, which is why CoCo is so precious to me. She is my emotional support dog. Negative experience: There are vets in Kingston that have better services than the ones provided here. I had a very sick kitten that I brought here over several occasions. The kitten was in multiple times for an upper respiratory tract infection which was persistent and treated with broad spectrum antibiotics two times prior to me asking for a PCR test to determine what exactly was causing it, so that specific antibiotics can be prescribed. And when I asked for the PCR, the vet told me that this is uncommon, expensive, and unnecessary. I went against the vet's recommendation and got the PCR anyways after doing my research on facebook pages. The specific microorganism causing the URI was identified and specific long-term antibiotic therapy was initiated, which had better effect than the broad spectrum antibiotics carelessly prescribed without proper diagnostic measures. It is saddening that I got better advice from facebook than from this clinic. As well, during one of the visits I asked the vet why my kittens skin looked like it had a rash. She then proceeded to explain to me that chicken is a common allergen among cats and that he was probably allergic to that. She then proceeded to give my cat his dewormer using a chicken flavoured wet cat treat. LOL! And the last thing said to me that made me realize how much this place sucked is when the receptionist asked me if I regret getting my cat after his many visits to this vet. This comment was so out of pocket, if I regret getting this cat and did not love him, why would I be spending thousands of dollars at this clinic. So take my recommendation: go somewhere else! I had great experiences at Sims Animal Hospital and Limestone City Animal Hospital !!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Llera has been the vet for two of my dogs, and you couldn't ask for a more caring doctor. He is terrific with my Goldendoodle, Eloise, who is anxious and high strung. The Kingston Veterinary Clinic is very good about not trying to upsell and will do their best to help you to stay within your budget, which I appreciate.

Positive experience: Staff was very accomadating. Appreciated that they took us early when I said our cat had been in her kennel for over an hour because that is when we could catch her and she was stressed. Continually keep us advised as to her vaxination status. I wish they would return to boarding pets however as they were tho most convenient place when we wanted to travel.

Fantastic experience: Been using then as our family vet for 17yrs. Well priced, compassionate staff. Non judgmental and pet health oriented. I now travel over an hour to attend bc i wouldnt trust anyone else with my family's pets.

Negative experience: Most of the staff are very friendly thier are a couple of the staff who very rude and really need to learn how to deal with the public. Always chaotic. Busy or not it's always seems chaotic.

Negative experience: Be sure to ask about hidden fees before your appointment. Went in expecting to pay 40$ for a cat booster as previously quoted, came out paying $120. There is a 70$ ‘technician check’ fee which consists of weighing them and taking their temperature (we can all do this at home). Entire appt took under 2 minutes and I had just paid $350 a few weeks prior for initial shots and checkup.

Fantastic experience: So over the moon impressed with this clinic. Dr. Llera and his staff are so friendly, caring and thorough. I moved to Kingston from Newfoundland and we were referred to him from a friend who saved her dogs eye a while ago. You can tell he actually cares about pets. My little dog had an ulcer on her eye we've been treating the past month and highly stressed. He was so kind and gentle with my girl and I'm so proud to say they are going to be our regular vet! And, they didn't overcharge me for the appointment. My last appointment at a different vet in Kingston cost me $450. When I heard the bill was less than $200 was such a sigh of relief. Even the oncologist he referred me to is a reasonable price. I'm so happy we found this clinic. I feel like I can breathe again I was so stressed. And, Dr. Llera was so gentle and caring with Roxy she wasn't even stressed much when he had to touch here eyeball. It was a bit uncomfortable for her obviously, but necessary and she was wagging her tail and not stressed out. Thank you so much Dr. Llera and team. I actually left in happy tears. Roxy and I appreciate you guys so much.

Fantastic experience: We are not regular patients of this clinic, but when my dog Dtormy was in pain trying to walk they were able to see is the same day. The service was excellent, the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They took great care of Stormy. I would definitely recommend them.

Fantastic experience: I will miss my cat so much but there are NO regrets with her life or her death. It was peaceful. They took us to the room they reserve for people putting their pets to sleep. They had chairs for us to sit on, very dim lighting which was very soothing and we were the furthest away from reception so there was no noise. Chaos just laid peacefully in the bottom half of her pink kennel (it’s almost as old as she was), her new blanket, and we just loved on her until it was time to go. The only way it could have gone better would’ve been if we could have afforded a euthanasia home visit but honestly, this was nice and I appreciated all their effort. They were so quiet and spoke in quiet, calming tones. I could’ve kissed them but my focus was on Chaos and the environment was completely conducive to the sad task.

Fantastic experience: **July 5th, 2023: Very disorganized place. I am grateful that they took in my pet in an emergency appointment, but I never got the vet to explain to me the results because he seemed to refuse to email me them, instead trying to contact me at work (a place where I don’t have my cellphone available). I hope I’m the odd one out and they’re great to all other caretakers of furry friends. (2 out of 5 stars) **January 9th, 2024: I had a bad experience my first time bringing my kitty to Kingston Veterinary Clinic. Strong enough that I was very nervous about going back. However I felt at the time, KVC had the only available ultrasound in town that my cat needed in order to have a diagnosis. I nervously made an appointment with them and followed through. On November 24th, 2023, the lady who took care of my cat seemed to understand that I was uncomfortable. She did her best to improve that. She answered all of my questions and explained to me details about the charges. I was most nervous at the prospect of an anesthetic, because my cat is elderly; the lady took my concerns into consideration and instead used a safer sedative. It is because of the imaging that KVC produced that my cat has a diagnosis that is getting regular treatment and I know how to better take care of her. For that, I am absolutely appreciative. (Increased to 5 out of 5 stars)

Negative experience: Horrible people, they called spca because their vet was inexperienced and had never seen the injury my dog had (he tripped running up stairs) also for the area the are in they offer no payment plans as a lot of people in the area aren’t made of money but still would rather you pay full price instead of working with their customer, over priced as well, $100+ for an exam when we’ve been quoted $85 from another vet

Fantastic experience: The vet was polite, honest and very gentle with my cat. I did not feel pressured to do any un needed services as I have in the past— this will definitely be my go to vet from now on.

December 15th 2023 we had taken our beloved dog to the Kingston Vet on Division street to lay her to rest, they were so gentle with her and very polite and calm about everything and definitely let us take our time to say good bye they did everything accordingly and very quick so she wasn’t in pain anymore they had also given us a nose print and paw print to take home and now I have them tattooed on me forever

After experiences with other vet clinics in the area, I specifically value KVC's honesty and their approach to patient care. They never push unnecessary treatments and don't over-vaccinate; they are attentive and thorough. Not only do I recommend them here but I always recommend Dr. Ryan Llera to people in the Kingston area.

Negative experience: I don't recommend anyone bring their pet here in an emergency, even if it's the closest place. They were not clear whether my cat was stable or in bad condition, the vet choosing to finish their appointment after looking at our cat. Took 35-40 minutes doing x rays and making sure we paid for them before giving us back our unresponsive cat to try to go to the emergency clinic across town. They were not clear or helpful. They let our cat die.

Fantastic experience: These folks have been taking care of our big canine and old feline for years. They demonstrate utmost professionalism with care , sensitivity , intrest and above all genuine compassion for the critters and their owners. I've been a patron of other vet clinics in the past and have felt pressured to spend $ on unnecessary procedures or meds- this never happened with these folks. Just the facts and respect for my decisions for my charges. They are an asset to the Kingston community. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff and medical treatment. Efficient, prompt and supportive service. They were extremely helpful and wonderful several times with previous life threatening conditions and surgeries. Paying the "cat tax" with a picture attached from my last visit there where Fluffers is being silly.

Negative experience: Our cat has been ill, we were told by the vet over the phone to bring him in and they would do a radiograph to figure out what was wrong. Our cat gets super stressed when he leaves home, so we get him there just so the receptionist could deny him care cause she THOUGHT he didn't need it.. We will NEVER take him back there again, its time we found a vet who really actually cares!!! They can't even answer their phones or return phone calls. They use to be good years ago, and they lost it......0/10

Negative experience: Very unsatisfactory, not professional at all. Went in to get his claws trimmed. They cut his toe. Didn’t realize till I got home and saw Bloody paw prints on my rug and bedding.Had to rush him back. Got attitude. NOBODY apologized !!!! Didn’t even get a refund offer for the $20 trim. They even said “ oh when we went to trim his nails he jumped “ like it’s the cat’s fault . Are you kidding me!!!! Then said “ we cleaned it , if it keeps bleeding put some sort of baking soda or flour or starch and sent me on my way. Staff of at least 5 and no I am sorry. At a vet clinic. REALLY!!! I also noticed that when we came back it was about 15 minutes before closing. Were you all on your way out somewhere? Thanks

Fantastic experience: Super friendly! We went in for the first time Monday with our puppy (Arlo) and everyone came around the counter to say hello to Arlo. Lot of pets. Went into the room and the technicians were just as friendly! Gave him pets and a treat. Vet came in and she also was so friendly with him. Gave him lots of pets. By the time he got his needles he was so relaxed he didn’t even notice them. Very friendly very professional.

Fantastic experience: Got me in as a temporary patient on extremely short notice and were extremely gentle with my cat who needed medication for ear mites. Even I was surprised how calm he was. Friendly staff, would go back again.

Fantastic experience: We have had our dog Charlie operated on 3 times here. His right CCL was done in May and his left was just done and then had to be re-done as the dog re-injured it during his recovery. The staff here have been excellent at every point. They did what was needed and took wonderful care of him. Even though his only times here have been for surgery (our normal vet does not do surgery), Charlie is happy to go in and does not seem nervous at all so obviously they have done a great job with him while he's been there. Thanks to the team for the fantastic service!

Negative experience: Worst experience with vet we have ever had. They over charge and definitely do not care about the animals.

Negative experience: Dr. Llera is amazing. Unfortunately the office staff don't seem to know what they are doing. They tell you one thing one day then change their minds at the very last minute, leaving me totally in a bind. I have always been impressed with this clinic but after this I doubt I will ever use them again. Too bad because the vets and most staff are great.

Fantastic experience: The staff they’re our awesome very friendly helpful as well as the veterinary and by far the most reasonably priced place, I think they may be my regular place to take my dog, I live in the west end of Kingston but is worth the drive.
