Fantastic experience: Dr. Poulton is an avian angel!! Nothing but good things to say about Lynwood. The compassion and concern is very comforting. Even in an emergency situation they made arrangements to see our cockatiel right away.

Fantastic experience: The only bunny vet in Ottawa. Ask for generic medications over name brand, they can keep your arthritic senior buns comfortable for less $.

Negative experience: Their website says new patients are accepted, it even say to “ call to get started”….but I have tried 3 separate times to get an appointment for my bird and they say they are not accepting new clients. They’re suggest I call a vet in Kingston..

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Lynwood Animal Hospital. I've seen them for a variety of different pets. Their advice is both caring and pragmatic.

Negative experience: If I can wish anything in the world is, that I never stepped foot in this place. After our appointment and spending over $1000. We called for continued care as our pet was not feeling better and nothing. Multiple messages, calling and begging for help. BEGGING. I got tired and brought my pet to Montreal 24 hour emergency and the vet was shocked at the lack of care my pet received. Including the fact that no medication was given. It is with regret that my pet passed away. My best friend is now gone because of there negligence. The vet in Montreal said that she could have lived if she was treated properly. He also mentioned that many patient come to him from Lynwood with the same issue. It was not the first he experience lack of care from this terrible place. Please take my advice and don’t go to Lynwood. Don’t feel my pain. It hurts so much.

Fantastic experience: They were able to help me get care with my bearded dragon. She was beyond help unfortunately and passed so I called to cancel my next appointment. A few days later I received a surprise card in the mail from the vets. It was such a surprise. They really do care and I will go there again if need be.

Negative experience: Brought my parrot here who was very sick, after bloodwork, ultrasound, said mass was seen and would need to go somewhere else for CT scan to see what it was... The parrot continued to get sicker and continued to vomit, not keep food down.. called lynwood, told they dont make any anti nausia for birds by the vet tech.. We then took out parrot to Laval, veterinarian hospital, vet stated there is absolutely anti nausea medication that can and should be given to the bird, and she should have been given it right away with any signs of vomiting because she could have choked to death in her weeken state., he was absolutly shocked... as well with a red cell blood count was 54, taken at time of visit to Lynwood the vet stated she should have had a transfusion. also anytime we tried calling for information about what we could do to help the bird, we were told someone would get back to us and we would hear nothing, we will call the next day and told the same thing again...If you do not have the knowledge to answer questions they should not be a vet... ..I highly recommend you drive the extra 2 hrs to Laval and and avoid this place at all costs.. unfortunately our girl passed..dont let this be you..

Fantastic experience: PLEASE READ: This is not a 5 star rating...it is a ZERO RATING. ....but as most folks only seem to read the 4-5 star ratings and not the 1 star...well that is the reason that I placed this email here. As owners of gentle and lovable little bunnies ...be careful and research where you decide to bring you loved companions. This email was sent to Lynwood Animal Hospital. I am emailing to advise you that about three weeks ago, our very loved rabbit, Mocha, passed. It has taken me many weeks to be able to type this email. Mocha’s condition worsened to a point that his breathing was greatly stressed and he was discharging more milky mucus. We felt we could not wait till the next morning and take him to your clinic and instead we took him to an emergency clinic where after examination, Xrays and blood tests, it was clear that he had an infection that was not only greatly affecting his breathing but showed fluid around his heart. The members of that clinic were very puzzled and surprised that his health had not been properly managed and was allowed to advance to this condition. It was quite clear that your clinic had misdiagnosed his breathing struggles as allergies. When I spoke to the attending vet from your clinic by phone she said that she was puzzled that with no earlier signs in Mocha’s records of allergies that he would develop an allergy now. When we showed the emergency clinic the documentation we had from your clinic they were confused as to the lack of testing but also a statement made in the last memo given to us by your clinic. “If the discharge becomes thicker or he is not improving we can re-visit the possibility of infection.” In retrospect, this statement indicates that your clinic used guess work to identify the mucus Mocha had expelled and failed to identify infection in his body. We are devastated with the added pain and stress your clinic caused Mocha to go through. The grief of losing our gentle companion in this way is overshadowed by the anger and disbelief at your clinic’s misdiagnosis of Mocha’s health. I do not need or require a response to this email. In fact I strongly request that your clinic not communicate with us in any manner. You have already caused enough pain.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Harris and the vet tech were amazing with my little guy. They are so knowledgeable about reptiles. They were so reassuring with me, because this is my first BTS and I had a lot of questions, they didn't rush me and answered all the questions I had. I highly recommend this vet if you are a reptile owner

Fantastic experience: I brought my budgie in for an exam and a nail trim. Overall, the environment and staff were very friendly and inviting and the waiting area was very calm. The technician who did the nail trim was very quick and professional and Dr. Poulton was very gentle with my bird during the exam, making sure to give him calming head scratches while handling him. She was very thorough and sent us home with a very nicely assembled info package about care for birds in general (some of which was familiar to me and a few things were new for me to learn) and did a follow-up email to send lots of great video links to help with diet conversion to pellets and to encourage foraging behaviour. Overall, both me and my budgie had a very positive experience and I would encourage anyone in the Ottawa area with birds to book their care here.

Fantastic experience: Friendly & knowledgable staff, flexible scheduling, and cares for an extensive variety of animals. Everything you could ask for!

Negative experience: The worst place I've ever been, completely and utterly inept, disorganized and unhelpful. All they want to do is urine samples and write prescriptions and outsource the rest. They told me multiple times to put my dog down despite not being at that level yet. When I actively got her better using Medicine they perscribed (insulin) they then refused to refill the prescription. What am I supposed to do? They refused to work with me on a treatment plan, have been a roadblock at every step of they way and now that my dog is stable and managing her diabetes they pull the rug from under me. Do they want my dog to die? I would avoid this horrible place. I was going to wait until my dog finally died but they're actively trying to expedite that process and I have to warn people. I regret ever going here because now I'm stuck.

Fantastic experience: Wow. The team and Dr Harrison are rock stars. Even just the intake form for my Guinea pig was so impressive. Everyone is kind and sensitive. I adored the little knit Guinea pigs and birds as well as the private space for small pets. Overall, we are grateful to have found our vet.

Fantastic experience: Really amazing! They take the time to check everything and perform ultrasounds and tests right away on all pets, exotic, small etc. It is slightly more expensive but worth it. Clean, well kept and good value for money.

Negative experience: We had an appointment for our dog this morning at 10AM but received a phone call asking us if we could push it to 10:30, we accommodated the request as it wasn't a big deal. We arrived a few minutes early and checked in with reception. 45 minutes later, we were still waiting. No one had taken the initiative to let us know it wouldn't be much longer. We watched as others arrived after us, were seen, and left; again, we had an appointment. It's one thing to ask a person to wait long past an appointment time, it's another to ask an animal who is stressed and doesn't understand why they are there. During the time we waited, a woman made the choice that she would stop treatment on her elderly animal, it was causing more pain than it was helping. Instead of offering her support for what she was going through, she was offered a 300$/visit in-home care option; which she declined. At that point, the clinic employee said they would note on her file that she would FOREGO treatment. She wasn't foregoing treatment, she was making a difficult choice with her animals best interest at heart. This is a complete lack of empathy for someone who is dealing with their sick pet and potentially having to put them down. On top of this, we also experienced high pressure sales tactics on our previous visit, being offered a discounted rate if we decided to get a certain vaccine while we were there, and if not, it would be much more expensive in the future. Administration and wait times aside, this clinic seems more interested in making money, than making pets and their owners healthy and happy (seems to be a recurring theme on the reviews too). We understand that vets are expensive, we understand that they are "for-profit" business's; we also want the best for our dog. Clearly Lynwood Animal Hospital is not the place where he will receive the best care; will be spending our money elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience! We brought our very first pet cat here, and Dr. Baird took the time to thoroughly explain many important aspects of her care. The clinic has a warm and cozy atmosphere, and the staff is both polite and highly professional. We felt truly welcomed and well-informed. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: We bring our African Grey Congo (CAG), Bean, to Dr Flegel, avian vet at this location. We have always been kindly greeted either by phone, email or in person, by everyone. The information we get is detailed and useful, from helpful emails that make sure the appointment with be useful and you will be prepared for the appointment to the very detailed invoice and the patience of Dr Flegel and Stefanie (sorry if I am getting this wrong!!) during the visit. They let us ask all our questions and thoughtfully give us the answers we need. With the help of Dr Flegel and Stefanie, our boy has overcome some minor health challenges this year, his first year in the world (low calcium [even for a CAG!], B12 supplement to improve the CBC results, switched to Harrison's for an improved balanced nutrition diet, tips on behaviours, things to look out for or keep an eye on specific to our bird, etc.). Highly recommended this specialty AVIAN vet (actually, they're not just an avian vet, they're an exotic animal vet) for anyone in the NCR with a flighted friend (can only speak to their avian services/knowledge). Thank you for helping us take care of Bean!

Fantastic experience: I was worried about the health of my bearded dragon and was looking for an exotic veterinary with reasonable prices and delays. They were able to see me the same day and didn't charge me an emergency fee. The staff was friendly, patient and well informed. I'm really happy with my visit and feel 100% positive about going back next year for a follow-up.

Fantastic experience: In my experience, Lynwood Animal hospital is the very best vet in the capital region. They’ve taken care of my bunnies for 2 years and have always gone out of their way to provide exceptional care. Despite living 20 minutes away, I recently moved both my cats to Lynwood too, as I have yet to find any other vet that offers the same level of care and service. Each time we visit, vet techs and Dr. Flegel / Dr. Baird have been very thorough, knowledgeable, and pleasant. I (and the zoo) want to thank each and every staff member that has taken care of us; you are all awesome. I don’t know what we’d do without Lynwood Animal Hospital!!

Negative experience: VERY disappointed with this clinic. They have the only avian vet in Ottawa and because of it seem to hold bird owners hostage. If you aren’t going through their doors on a regular basis they treat you as a new patient, even though they can pull up your info and clearly see that you have been there. Which would mean to me that they still have your info on file and should not have to start anew. Their deposit is unreasonable. If you are considered a new patient you must leave a full deposit of the cost of an appointment even though they can’t see you for months. Other avian vets in Montreal only ask for half- which I might add is half the cost of Lynwood. 90$ for a full new client exam in Montreal vs 197$ at Lynwood. So for our visit in Montreal we only were asked for 50$ not 197$, when I wasn’t able to bring my bird in for an emergency until October, when it was mid June. So keep that in mind- they don’t do emergencies- they ask that you bring your bird in to Lola, which btw has ZERO avian vets on staff, because Dr Roscoe is the only one in town. So you have to go to Lola to see a non avian vet who then simply consults with Lynwood. THEN is they think it’s important enough, you get referred to Lynwood, and can get an appointment- but not for months because they are so backed up they can’t take they regular patients quickly either according to the woman I spoke to on the phone. And btw- we HAD brought our bird to Lola in March and they simply told us he was dehydrated- gave him sub q and sent us home…they can’t even do blood work at Lola- so yeah- super unknowledgeable. After bringing our bird to Montreal and getting a very serious diagnosis of ABV and PDD as well as fatty liver and a few other issues they gave us directions as to what supplements and food to get, when I asked Lynwood, they refused to get it because our bird, who they couldn’t/ wouldn’t see, doesn’t have a file with them. Is that not a bit screwed up or what?! This is a horrible way to treat people. Not sure why they simply couldn’t ask for proof of diagnosis and then simply do the right thing by ordering what was needed for the bird. Heck, I have a cat and a dog who both require vet food and nobody in the area makes me go back to the original vet who diagnosed. You can literally walk in to any vet and buy vet food for your animal. And let’s be realistic, what bird owner calls a vet and says hey, I’d like this specialty food that will likely cost double something I can get at a pet store, and give it to my bird, without my bird actually having a disease? That’s insane to think people would just make it up. This is a horrible way to do business. This is not our first time dealing with them, in the past we saw them and decided to keep our interactions with them to a minimal because they seemed like a ‘money grab’ clinic. They wanted another bird of our to come in for vaccinations in 6 months and then again every year. This confirms that they really don’t have the best interest of the birds in mind. It’s all about them and the money. Shame on them. It’s also interesting to note that the clinics we called in Montreal when looking to make an appointment also commented on how they have many patients from Ottawa because of Lynwood and they are very aware of them. That in itself speaks volumes to me. Anyway- all this to say- take your birds to Montreal.

Fantastic experience: I have had only fabulous experiences at Lynwood Animal Hospital for my first dog-ownership. It can certainly be overwhelming when re-homing a pup, but the entire team has taken such good and exceptional care of us both. We are in excellent hands.

I unfortunately had to put my first animal down and Dr Flegel was so patient and caring, she answered all of my questions and helped me through a very emotional time. My vet tech Meg was also excellent and very kind and helpful. I have since went back for my other pet where I had dr harrison as well as another amazing vet tech who’s name is unfortunately escaping me but she was absolutely incredible as well. I absolutely adore every staff I have encountered at Lynwood Animal hospital. They make the experience positive even in the hardest times. They are all very caring and compassionate individuals and I would strongly recommend this vet to anyone looking. Fantastic experience: Can’t say enough good things about this vet. We had a parotlette that was sick and we needed a specific vet to bring our baby to. We found this clinic and were completely blown away. The care and compassion we received was unmatched. Unfortunately we made the decision to put down our sweet bird here and it was the best place we could have said our goodbyes. I just opened up a card I got from them in the mail with them sending their condolences - with specific notes from each employee. Fantastic experience: I've been taking my lovebird, Frisbee, to this veterinary clinic for about two years and have consistently been impressed with their care and professionalism. The vet that we see handles Frisbee with skill and compassion. They are remarkably responsive via email or phone, ensuring easy communication. Recently, Frisbee fell ill and needed urgent care. The clinic was able to accommodate us almost immediately, allowing for prompt diagnosis and treatment. While the costs are somewhat high, they are understandable, considering the specialized services dedicated to exotic animals. Overall, I am very satisfied with the level of care and attention we receive.

Fantastic experience: Recently I had to euthanize my 1year 1 month and 1 week old mini schnauzer Ginger due to kidney disease. It just like losing your ownly friend. Very emotional. I was there until the very end. The staff were very caring and sympathetic. First time I've don it with my previous dogs

Negative experience: Called them last week Sep. 12, 2023 to make an appointment. They asked me to make a payment now in order to get a possible appointment date sometime in December or even January. I wouldn't recommend to anyone Lynwood Animal hospital as they are asking payment upfront without registration or even giving a date for appointment. I never been there, so not sure it's their regular practice or it's just for the birds. front desk staff didn't even bother to take down information from me for my bird for a potential appointment. All I needed for a technician to trim the claws and clip the wings of my birdie sooner. And I said I could wait for a regular check up appointment when it's available. And I can make the payment a week prior to the appointment. But she said no. Apparently, it was vet's preference. So I am not taking him there. I wouldn't take my kitties there either.

Fantastic experience: The staff has been fantastic! Communication out of this world and they are so friendly. Dr. Roscoe was so knowledgeable about Senegal Parrots. I will will certainly return for repeat visits. Still good quality service and it was nice to see some student vets on hand!

Fantastic experience: My parrot needed some urgent care and they were able to see her straight away. They seemed to be very nice people and I felt that my bird had been well looked after. The cost of the visit was reasonable and about what I expected.

I have had animals in the past and have gone to other clinics and the animals never wanted to enter the clinics but that had not been the case here. My dog loves going in and seeing everyone!

Fantastic experience: Wonderful vets, vet techs, reception staff, they're all great here! Amazing care, kind + friendly, I always recommend them especially for exotics owners (I myself am a parrot dad, and finding a good avian vet is very difficult!) Doesn't matter if it's a routine checkup or an emergency visit - they're good at what they do and they'll treat your loved ones well. (attached is a photo of my gal Freyja during an appointment - she did not appreciate being a birdrrito or the Stethoscope! Anything on her head is illegal)

They gave me so much information and handouts to look over and are upfront about costs. Even if there was another aviary vet - I would still come to this location. Fantastic experience: I go to Lynwood to receive expert care for my budgie, Boo. It's hard to find a good avian vet, but Lynwood is the best in Ottawa in my opinion. Dr. Kristen Flegel was able to identify the issues my budgie had when others vets were left scratching their heads. Once we knew what was going on, we were able to treat the issue. Now Boo is living symptom free! I highly recommend Lynwood to any bird owner considering seeking care here.

Fantastic experience: Had good experience there, got genuine advices from vet and they also do direct payment from Trupanion insurance.

Positive experience: My last visit was generally OK but I was surprised I couldn't stay in the room for my rabbit's examination?!? I've always been there for my other two rabbits. As a result I didn't get to know his weight and then more surprised when I wasn't given that info in the paperwork I was sent home with. Otherwise I would have given five stars!!

THEY are so bloody sweet with my animals. My baby budgie was so comfortable he nearly fall asleep in doctocs Harris hands. I can't recommend them enough.

The vets and techs are well versed in fear-free interactions with the animals, and are friendly and personable with clients. I had a scary incident happen with my rabbit last week and they were quick to get him in, on an effective treatment plan, and followed up with me too. Not to mention the reception staff are amazing - they never make you feel bad for having a million questions/requests and are always quick to get a solution. Fantastic experience: Dr. Harrison and her vet tech were absolutely amazing with my rabbit and my bird. What I appreciated the most was that they took their time with my pets and never rushed. My bird, Piper, fell in love with the vet tech and did not want to leave her side. He is picky on whom he likes so when that happened it made me so happy I made the right decision and switching them to this veterinarian. Lapina, my bunny, was greeted with her favourite snacks (Kale and hay) and sucked up all of the attention Dr. Harrison gave her. I have never seen Lapina so calm during an appointment before. I drive an hour out of my way to take my pets to this clinic. Their prices are actually cheaper than the majority of veterinarians in my area. Thank you for taking care of my beloved pets!

Fantastic experience: I take my guinea pigs here and they are amazing. Dr. Flegel especially really helped us. She takes the time to explain and go over everything. She's sympathetic to pets and their owners and takes the time to understand the needs and situation of both the pets and the owners. She is very supportive and seems very genuine and human.

Negative experience: Our bunnies love them but they overcharge for everything and want to repeat diagnostics all the time. Their profit margins must be insane.

Fantastic experience: I've been seeing Dr. Harrison and her team for my bunny and they're amazing. They truly care about your pets and treat them like their own. They're on the slightly more expensive side but for the service they provide, its worth the price.

They also made such an effort to keep my bun comfortable while he was at the clinic which I really appreciated with bunnies being such anxious animals. Will definitely keep trusting Lynwood with my bunny’s vet care :)

Positive experience: I’ve been very happy with my experience with Lynwood Animal Hospital. All of the veterinarians that have cared for my ferrets have been knowledgeable about ferrets and take the time to answer my questions, and some went as far as to offer suggestions on dietary habits and preventative treatments. This vet is one of the few around Ottawa that have experience with ferrets and they are gaining our trust with each appointment!

Fantastic experience: Just moved to the Ottawa area and bringing my 3 rats and baby tortoise. Amazing and friendly staff, so happy to be working with them! My rat Twig had a check up and the staff drew this Sudowoodo Pokémon on his medication bag. So cute!!

Negative experience: reception is super rude. left voicemail on sunday to get meds. on tuesday they told me i didn't - kept arguing with me that they never overlook things... after persistently asking for the doctor to refill my scripts as i left the voicemail sunday at 1pm and it was tuesday at 5pm and noone called me back to tell me there was an issue .... then they found my voicemail and still continued to tell me i did not ask for refills just one med refill? honestly never had someone tell me im wrong and argue i did not call ? just needed meds for my bunny and she couldve died without them. Had to wait 1.5 hrs for meds despite calling days before. Worst reception

Fantastic experience: Lynwood Animal Hospital have wonderful staff, very friendly and courteous. The front staff make you feel so welcomed from the first moment walking through the doors. Excellent Veterinarian Hospital! Would recommend to anyone!

Fantastic experience: Went there recently with my chinchilla and had a great time! All the staff were super kind, and took great care of my chinchilla guy :) the hospital itself has a very nice interior, very cozy vibes. Lots of veterinary diet foods and treats. They also were selling handmade cat toys, which were super cute. My cat has been a huge fan of them. Would absolutely keep bringing my pets there!

Fantastic experience: They are a more expensive option than I’ve known in the past, but the attention to detail and extra time they take for explanations make it well worth it. Communication is top notch, and they will work with you to find the best treatments.

Fantastic experience: We are new to the area so this was our first ever visit. Such a painless process to get our dog’s yearly vaccinations. I love that they do video conferencing for your appointment! The staff are all so nice, very friendly, and were great with my nervous pup. The prices were reasonable as well, would definitely recommend the Lynwood vet.
