Fantastic experience: Once again we were most pleased with your service. Our pup is a joy and your instructions to keep her happy and healthy takes a huge weight off our minds. The service and explanations by the vet were clear and made it easier for us. Fantastic experience: Dr. Mahjoob was fantastic with my Frenchie!! I would highly recommend her especially with her knowledge for both pugs and French Bulldogs. Also the vet technicians are amazing!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking my pets to Liston Animal Hospital for 13 years and I am always happy with the service. They are very patient and have always clearly explained the lab results. My oldest Labrador is 13 and has had multiple surgeries or incidents where the Emergency Department was needed. We couldn’t always make it to Liston for the emergencies but they still followed up with me to ensure everything was okay. The staff there are extremely caring.

Fantastic experience: My family and I have been with Liston for quite a number of years now. I have only ever had positive experiences. I have brought our animals in with anything from initial checkups and vaccines to surgeries and emergencies. They have welcomed many species from my household including my rats, cats and dogs. I and my animals are greeted as friends by all the staff. Any of the veterinarians that have treated my animals over the years have been nothing less than phenomenal. If you are looking for a Clinic to build a relationship with long-term for your beloved pets, then this is a safe and efficient option.

Fantastic experience: After having to leave my previous vet - I was quite nervous I’d be haggled by the vet with cost before the service was even rendered to my dog. At Liston there was NONE of that. Very warm welcome. The front staff were very kind and informative. Our new vet was thorough and explained everything. Genuine empathy with wonderful care. Definite win!!!

Fantastic experience: The staff was very nice, and knowledgeable. They provided me advice on dental care and tick and flea medication. My dog was a little nervous but the veterinarian was very calm, and took her time to make my dog feel comfortable.

Negative experience: Reposting for visibility. This clinic, sadly, isn't the 'Liston' it once was. That genuine, 'Mom and Pop' care Dr. Liston offered has been replaced by a VCA-style business model where profit is the primary patient. They’re obsessed with upselling. ​While I truly appreciated Dr. Savannah’s support during a tough goodbye with my cat, the clinic's attitude has nose-dived since. The receptionist is curt, and management is clearly driving a relentless upsell agenda. Case in point: when I needed simple bloodwork quotes for my kitten with FIP (an already costly treatment), they initially insisted on bundling it with unnecessary X-rays and demanding a full re-exam for every single blood draw. Since Noah's FIP diagnosis was established and the bloodwork was purely for monitoring ongoing treatment progress, this was entirely unnecessary. ​After pushing back, they dropped the X-rays. But the re-exam battle continued. They tried to blame the FIP study group for the mandatory re-exams—a claim the study group immediately debunked. It was their own unnecessary fee. ​It took three weeks for the vet to respond to my complaint, only to claim that skipping the re-exams would somehow risk her license. A quick chat with my new vet confirmed this was completely false—just a flimsy excuse for a blatant money grab. After I called them out on that lie, I got radio silence—confirming they were more interested in my wallet than Noah's well-being. ​This kind of behavior is why pet owners are losing faith in vets. It's disheartening to see a place dedicated to care turn into a revenue stream. I'm taking my pets (and my wallet) elsewhere to a clinic that prioritizes health over harvesting cash.

Fantastic experience: Dr McKenna was very thorough in her explanation of the results of our dog’s blood work. Fantastic experience: This was a surgery appointment. Everything was fully explained and the staff were very caring as I was worried about my cat surviving the operation. I had a call from the vet. Dr. McIntosh who explained the procedure when it was done very thoroughly. He was also caring and seemed very competent. When I picked up my cat I was given further care instructions which were concise and clear. All in all this stressful day was less so because of the wonderful staff at Liston Animal Hospital. Negative experience: I have been with Liston from 2016 when I moved into the area for all my dogs and it used to be a great place. Then after Dr Liston retired the place started to get worse and worse. Where some clinical staff that is great still there ( Dave, that's about you, thank you for you care and excellent service) most of staff and docs are gone. It surely is a management/ownership style that changed with wierd policies that are aimed to get more money out of clients for poor services. For example ( just one of many), I called to re-fill regular allergy medications for 2 of my 3 dogs and the secretary said she will check with a vet if it is possible. Now, after wasted a whole day and FIVE calls back and forth this is the outcome: we can do it for one dog but for another you will need to cone to see a vet in person ( and pay for visit.) This is for a regular med fir my 5 years old dog ( used it from the age of 2 or 3) and after I just had ( 3-4 months prior to it) a regular yearly check up with the vet at Liston when they reviewed all medications and everything!!! Unheard of! Luckily, my dog is followed by Allergy specialty ( who originally prescribed this med and Liston knows it and had all records on file). So, i was not stuck and forced to book a useless vet appointment. I called capital city specialty and got it filled with no issues. I knew I could have it done from the beginning, but I was thinking of supporting my local clinic with the business.... but no.... several experiences like this over the last year and them loosing good trusted vets pushed me to taje pur business elsewhere. Read carefully RECENT reviews because overall good rating is what was done prior to change in ownership. I wish your pet the best health and care!

Just wanted to clarify that we offered to administer the allergy medication you requested for both your pets at the same charge as usual, the only difference being since it is an injection with our updated manufacturers recommendations, it needed to be given by one of our Registered Vet Technicians instead of at home. Fantastic experience: I have been taking my dogs here since 2014 and in that entire time I have only encountered one vet that I felt "pushed" services on me that were not necessary. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Getting an appointment is quick and easy. I feel the prices are reasonable, and aside from the one instance, I have never felt pushy sales of unnecessary services or procedures.

Fantastic experience: I have been a client of the Liston Animal Hospital for many years. My most recent adoptee, Dante, was stricken with a urinary problem and I was so fortunate that Dr Beattie was able to examine him before her very busy day began and after extensive tests, medication and a diet change were begun immediately and put him on the path to recovery. Negative experience: We first started bringing our rats to Liston Animal Hospital in 2009. Dr. Steve Liston, Dave, Rebecca, Amanda, Pam... literally the entire staff were so efficient, knowledgeable, compassionate and overall amazing people. Unfortunately after covid, Dr. Liston retired and sold the clinic - he reached out to us 6 months in advance to let us know and reassured us that no matter what, he would ensure the vet he hired to take over would have the same passion and love for helping all animals, including the rescue rats we brought to him. He thus introduced us personally to the amazing Dr. Lynn Blackburn. He took the time to train her, and have her shadow him during several of the last surgeries he did for us. Unfortunately he had to sell the clinic to NVA Canada. The service immediately dropped, and all the prices immediately doubled. ALL the former staff except Dave, eventually quit. They were replaced by individuals such as Loralei who treated us like we were a nuisance. She was always condescending and constantly replied in passive aggressive ways in response to our requests to pass on a message to Dr. Blackburn. There were times we requested a medication refill and it would take over a week to get it refilled, yet every time we called to follow up on the status, she would make it sound like we were the ones bothering her and she was annoyed that she had to even talk to us. Despite the unpleasant receptionist, and massive increase in prices, we stayed with them because of Dr. Blackburn and Dave. We learned to call on weekends when Loralei didn't work, and we simply had to make sacrifices to be able to continue affording the vet care. Then, on a random Tuesday in October of 2024, out of nowhere, we called to book an appointment with Dr. Blackburn, and they informed us that she was no longer with the clinic. They canceled all of our already pre-booked appointments and told us they would not even be willing to refill ongoing medication for patients they already had on file past the new year. And they stated that NO, they would not be seeing any rats or exotics going forward. They gave us no warning, no options, just a cold email from the new office manager Michael, after I questioned what happened? Liston Animal Hospital no longer should bear the name of its former owner and founder, because Steve Liston was a kind and generous person. He had to retire eventually, and he did his best to ensure the establishment that would bear his name would continue upholding the values and compassion he showed to all his patients and clients. But large conglomerates like NVA Canada do not care. All they care about is the bottom line. In case anyone is looking for Dr. Blackburn, she is now working at Colonial Vet Clinic (which is independently owned, and so far has been extremely easy to work with.)

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a client of Liston Animal Hospital for over 17 years and during that time I’ve only experienced high-level professionalism and compassionate care. . I understand veterinary costs have increased, as has everything else, but the consistency in quality care at Liston Animal Hospital has not changed and , in some areas, has improved such as follow up calls and reception. Lorelei has been particularly kind and welcoming, and Dave has always been very helpful. Dr. Beattie has been invaluable In managing health issues of newly adopted pets, including an aggressive terminal cancer diagnosis, where her close follow up with the specialist and heartfelt support was greatly appreciated. I was apprehensive when Dr Liston retired but my experience continues to be highly positive.

Positive experience: We have been taking our 2 cats to this clinic for years now and have seen a couple of the Veterinarians. We have never had issues with Lauralee as other people have mentioned. When one of our cats recently passed suddenly at home, she was nothing but empathetic to our situation. She gave us a room to grieve before committing to our next steps. Giving 4/5 stars based on the price increases that have occurred not the service provided. Thank you Liston Team and Lauralee.

Negative experience: I dread contacting Liston animal hospital as dealing with the receptionist Loralei is not a pleasant experience. She has a passive aggressive tone, is dismissive and very rude. You are only permitted to speak when she says so, if you do get the chance to provide information you are quickly cut off. My husband has had the same unpleasant experience. We have been bringing our dogs here for years even after Dr. Liston left the practice, but I am seriously considering going elsewhere due to Loralei's unprofessional manner.

Negative experience: This is not the place it was due to recent staff changes. Sadly staff now seem more interested in taking your money than in providing common sense compassionate care for your pet. Recently took in 15.5 year old retriever with an ear issue- she recently received a great bill of health during annual appt. New vet demanding $1000 worth of tests before treating her. This is shocking and disappointing and would never have happened with previous vets. I strongly recommend going elsewhere.

Negative experience: I must agree with recent reviews. We have gone to this clinic for many years and it has gone downhill with new ownership. I’m sure Dr Liston would hate his name associated, as he ran a terrific facility. I booked a dental cleaning for our dog, for which they indicated he had to come for check up first (even though he had one there a few months prior). I arrive for the check up , only to be told they don’t do dental cleaning for large dogs! They looked up our file when booking and knew the dog was large . $150 later and it was useless appt. They wanted us to do lab tests as well , which is ludicrous considering they don’t do the cleaning there! I now have to repeat that step at another clinic who does the cleaning. Frustrating !

Negative experience: PLEASE FIRE RECEPTIONIST LAURALEE. I'm writing this review to shed light on the consistent problems caused by the front desk receptionist, Lauralee, when you read the other reviews (look at how many thumbs up there on these ratings). My recent experience with her was absolutely horrendous, and I strongly advise against coming to this clinic solely because of her beyond rude and stressful behavior, especially when dealing with a sick pet. This clinic used to be my dog's veterinary clinic. When the vet called to schedule my dog for surgery after reviewing her blood tests, the vet suggested surgery to remove the lump and they were booking two weeks out. Due to the cost of the surgery, I had to discuss with my partner and the vet knew I would be calling back in a couple minutes to confirm my decision. However, when I called back to confirm the surgery, I was met with Lauralee's refusal to even pass on the message to the vet that I wanted to proceed. She insisted I book another appointment, causing unnecessary stress and delay. I couldn't sleep that night knowing that Lauralee had completely hijacked the conversation and refused to listen or let me explain my conversation with the vet. Thankfully, when I called back on Monday, I reached a different receptionist who was able to book the appointment. However, due to Lauralee's incompetence, the surgery had to be pushed back by another week because they were fully booked. Because of Lauralee's failure to listen and put her ego aside, my dog's condition significantly worsened in the week before her surgery and her lump ruptured internally (mind you, she would have already gotten surgery if it wasn't for Lauralee). As a result, I had to take her to Eagleson Vet, who were much more accommodating, but we were ultimately referred to Capital City Emergency. The surgery ended up costing $14,000 instead of the estimated $2,000 which could have all been prevented had Lauralee been competent in a client-facing position. If you care about your pet, do yourself a favor and go to another vet so that you don't have to fight to get your pet care.

Negative experience: Disappointed and miss Dr Liston! I have had two encounters this year for my dog Bella both ended with the feeling that I had just walked out of a high pressure sales meeting. After spending 1200 on minor appointments, I knew it was time for Bella to leave her vet clinic of 6 years. We will miss the wonderful staff, but I am hoping the new vets will read this review and take it down a notch. There is no need to scroll down to past years( 2019) to look for things to charge people for a half hour before even looking at my pet. Truly disappointed.

Negative experience: We have this clinic as our family vet . When we called with an emergency they directed us to the emergency room because there was no space for us . A week later we got mailed that our pet is due for vaccines . We can do vaccines to any other vet . So , no thank you .

Negative experience: My family and I have been going to Dr Liston for over 15 years. I continued to bring my pets there and fosters after his retirement and loved the new doctors, but their receptionists' judgmental comments and attitude has forced me to take my business elsewhere, over an hour away where my pets and I are always treated like royalty rather than a burden.

Negative experience: This veterinary clinic went from a five star to a one star after Dr. Liston left. He was one of the most amazing, caring vets I’ve ever met, as well as some of my family members, who also had him as a doctor for their beloved pets. We even have a dog buried on his property. I ended up leaving this veterinary clinic because Lauralee who works at the desk was so incredibly rude, has zero empathy and is borderline insulting every phone call or visit. It’s nearly impossible to get past her to make a vet appointment without feeling absolutely flustered. I even called and complained about her one time and did not get a call back. She has been rude to another family member of mine, welcomed that family member to leave the veterinarian clinic without any resolve. My cat was sick with allergies, was prescribed a steroid and just continued to refill the prescription, not letting me know that this steroid could affect my cat after long periods of use. After the last time I called to renew my prescription, and Lauralee was rude to me again I called a new vet and my cat is actually off of the steroid now because he didn’t even need to be on it. So not only do they not care, they definitely do not go the extra mile but the lack of empathy from Lauralee and the rudeness is over top. Also, this veterinary clinic gave a family member of mine dog anti-depressants. The pup had a bad reaction to and became snappy and the recommendation was to put him down. Took the pup somewhere else and they said absolutely do not put him down, I cannot believe that they recommended death. I do not recommend this vet, it used to be absolutely amazing when Dr. Listen was there. Headed to add I just read more reviews and there are several reviews complaining about the receptionist and I have no doubt that it is this Lauralee and it’s very disappointing that the problem was never resolved and you’re actually losing clients over your receptionist.

Negative experience: We saw Dr. Liston for many years and really liked him. After he retired, we saw another vet at the clinic. She wasn’t very welcoming, and didn’t seem to like to discuss options. The office manager also isn't great with returning calls, and we were overcharged for meds. We won’t be returning to the clinic.

Negative experience: We have been with Dr Liston over 10 years. He was a fantastic. Never had any issue at all until the new receptionist joined to the clinic. She has an attitude. Not friendly at all. I was going to stay with the clinic even after Dr Liston retired. But it’s time to move to other clinic.

Negative experience: Dr.Blackburn diagnosed my dog with bladder cancer, but it turned out to be a bacterial infection. Multiple messages left with the front desk went unreturned. Took 1 week of calling to finally get results of urine test that showed the infection. Poor communication lead to unnecessary stress.

Fantastic experience: Dr.Blackburn and her assistant are amazing. Took me earlyer then my appointement whit my 2 Dogs cause they could do it even if i was ok to wait, gave them lots of treats, gave extra care to make sure we are going home worry free. Took time to teach me some stuff cause its my first dog. Cheaper then i expected. They will see us again when needed for sure! Worth the drive.

Fantastic experience: If you were someone like me who visited this clinic a year and a bit ago and felt like there was a lack of professionalism, I would highly recommend you try again. This clinic is under new management now, and it is night and day in the quality of service we received. Dr. Blackburn is exceptional, and I felt like our dog was in good hands when we brought him in for a tooth extraction. The price was reasonable, we were well informed of what we should expect during and after the procedure. Following the procedure when we were unsure if he was recovering at a good rate, the tech made time for us and was very helpful in easing our concerns. Our pup is doing great, and we will continue to visit this vet in the future.

Positive experience: Vet was wonderful but receptionist (redhead) was a total witch. Completely rude, condescending and dismissive. Customer service may not have been best career choice. Other receptionist was very nice. I will never bring any of my animals to this vet while she is working there.

Fantastic experience: Was going to switch to a vet closer to my home but quickly realized all vets and animal hospitals are not equal so I will be staying with Liston Animal Hospital. Negative experience: ----UPDATE (4 months after posting)--- I never heard back from Liston Animal Hospital about the experience listed below. I was hoping they had the heart to reach out and briefly discuss, they don't. Reducing to one star. ----- I was trying to reason between one and two stars after deliberating many times. Three stars or above was not my experience with Liston Animal Hospital, thus, I'll try and be reasonable, thus, two stars. The health of my cat declined further, rather quickly, and I visited the Liston Animal Hospital, a final approach/strategy was attempted but it was clear it wasn't helping her. The following day, I tried contacting Liston AH countless times by phone and emailed at least a couple times with the subject header marked URGENT. I sent these, during business hours (around noon) and I DID NOT receive a response until that night at approx. 8pm by Dr Liston simply stating that Dr Cote will get back to me and that their phone lines were down. He didn't offer to help, moreover, I didn't hear from Dr Cote until the NEXT DAY. Their phone lines were down for a WHOLE DAY AAAAND they WERE NOT readily answering emails. This was an emergency! It was a gruelling , horrible day and night. On top of that, the email didn't contain any measures on how they would prevent their lines of communication from failing again or at least a mitigation plan if it does. When an issue arises and you need to follow up with a client, that's an instrumental part of the communication you're delivering, otherwise it shows a lack of professionalism and care. Furthermore, I feel there was a lack of care when Dr Liston didn't provide instructions and help on what I could consider as next steps when he emailed at 8pm that night. It felt more like, 'this is Dr Cote's problem not mine...let her deal with it when she can'. He simply apologized that their system was down and that Dr Cote would get back to me without providing any timeframe. He didn't provide advice or contacts. Subsequently, Dr Cote didn't follow up until the next day; leaving me with no instructions from Dr Liston, and a horrible night trying to soothe and console my baby while waiting for a reply. I could list other grievances I've had, but the above hurt the most, lumped in with the fact that no one sent a condolences email, something so small that can make such a difference in feeling like we were actually cared for instead of feeling like we were dropped because we were no longer economically viable. Thankfully I found another vet the day my cat fell very ill, thankfully the vet I found was willing to do a house call and demonstrated the care I was looking for. They provided true compassion and followed up with me to see how I was doing, I CANNOT say the same for Liston Animal Hospital. Shame on them.

Unfortunately, the day that you were trying to reach us we were in the middle of a power outage and had no access to our phones, email, medical records, or client contact information. When Dr. Liston emailed you from home that evening it was the only way that he could contact you as he did not have a phone number to reach you at. He was unfamiliar with your case so he passed the message along to Dr. Cote. She did reach out to you first thing the following morning once we had power restored and were able to access your number. She did offer you an appointment that day but regretfully we did not have one until later in the evening.

Fantastic experience: Dr Liston and team have been looking after our beagle Jake for about 8 years... and Jake has a LOT of issues. There is not a more caring group of people who do everything they can to help our 13 year old dog be comfortable.

Fantastic experience: Dr Liston and his staff are without comparison in there field. Absolute professionalism, compassion, empathy and understanding for over twenty years as our veterinarian. The one star reviews are obviously foolish and from the pettiest society has to offer. Especially suspect is the fact that one of the reviews are from a worker of another animal hospital in Prescott.

Fantastic experience: Just came back from a late visit to the Liston Animal Hospital. Dr. Liston was at the end of a 12+ day and seemed exhausted. Still, he was unfailingly pleasant and professional and kind to my dog. The staff were super, too. A+ Hang in there and keep up the good work!

Fantastic experience: I have great appreciation for the Liston Animal Hospital and their caring veterinary team. Over the years, I've brought in 11 different animals, spanning 3 different species. The veterinarians and staff are always so empathetic, knowledgeable, and helpful. They do book up quickly, but I have never felt that my pets were left uncared for and they are always willing to refer me to alternative resources and clinics if one of my pets needs more urgent care than they can provide. I hope to continue bringing my pets to the LAH for years to come.

Negative experience: Where is the Humanitarian role they are acting with , they requested to have money in advance before the consultation do you think this humanity? Of course not We arw not escaping from paying at least help to recover these little soul's and then ask for the money In business , you cant ask for advance payment for service not accomplished, knowing that there were no sign mentioning we need to pay in advance or anything

Negative experience: I have been bringing my dog Bella there for many years. Everything was fine until a couple weeks ago. They do not accept mask exemption. Ok I get it. People are scared of covid aka the flu aka bad cold. But what really set me off was when The receptionist Said I have to be double vaccinated To enter their building. Disgusting human rights violation That scientifically has nothing to do with public health or safety. I have not been back and I have transfered my dogs file to a vet with proper morales values and ethics. Its a shame how scared and brainwashed society has become. Disgusting actually.
