Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I've had my fair share of vet emergencies. They are expensive, long waits and most of all nerve racking. My experience at Huronia vet emergency was BY FAR the BEST experience I have ever had! My pooch had an allergic reaction was having some breathing issues and breaking out in hives. We got there at 9pm and the staff had us in and with a doctor in under 20 minutes!!! Thats not even close to the best part! The pricing was amazing! Super reasonable I've gone to a hospital for the same issue with my dog in the past and it was close to 1000 for our visit. Our tech Stacy was so good with my dog and the doctor, Dr. Paul Manesis was incredible!! Super knowledgeable, friendly and gave us a full list of instructions for home care and causes for todays visit!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! THANKS GUYS
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Lindsay! We strive to provide compassionate and professional care and it’s rewarding to know that our efforts made a positive impact.
Fantastic experience: I brought my kitty in for an emergency tonight. Everyone was SO kind, compassionate, and caring. I have never had a better experience at a vet clinic. I can’t remember my vets name, but she didn’t push any high price treatments, went through all the options with me, and in the end we found a great solution and Bibble is doing just fine now. Thank you again!
We never take positive feedback like this for granted. Exceeding clients' expectations is what motivates us. Knowing we did that for you will inspire our team to keep raising the bar! Thank you! ⭐️

Hello colleen, thank you for your fantastic review! We are grateful for this feedback as our staff prides themselves so much on providing this gold-star service! Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Our boy, Kevin, only 3.5 years old, suffered a major issue and we had to put him down. The Huronia staff were very caring and gave us the space we needed to say goodbye and spend time with our pup. Thank you to the vet and nurses who helped us in this difficult time.
We truly appreciate you sharing your experience with us. We understand that saying goodbye to a cherished pet is an incredibly emotional and challenging moment. Our utmost priority is to provide compassionate care during these difficult times. Your feedback means a lot to us and we're here to support you whenever you need us.
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately we had to make a tough decision for our sweet Big Mama Pizza cat but the the vet and staff were very kind the entire time. They took her in immediately and made her comfortable. I hope to never be here again but I wouldnt think twice in an emergency.
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words, Brandy. Saying goodbye is one of the hardest things a pet parent can go through, and we’re truly honored to have been able to support you and your beloved kitty through such an emotional time. It means the world to our team to know that our care and compassion brought you some comfort. We’re thinking of you and sending lots of love your way.
Fantastic experience: On Wednesday night our dog, who was battling cancer, made a turn for the worst. The staff was so kind and patient. Everyone working came and gave Hugo a treat, they made us and the dog comfortable. The only name I remember is Sasha, the vet tech. She was amazing and made sure Hugo was comfortable the whole time. Reception met us at the door and had a room ready for us. The doctor made sure she explained everything and took her time with us to make sure we were ready. Thank you team, you made a horrible time the most comfortable. You gave Hugo a comfortable goodbye and that truly means so much to us.
We genuinely appreciate your thoughtful words. It's comforting for us to hear that we could provide solace to your family during this difficult time. Please remember that you are not alone in your grief.
Fantastic experience: We brought our dog Fozzie in after being hit by a car with a unique injury. The staff were very kind and the Dr's were knowledgable and patient with us. It's been a tough 6 weeks but Fozzie is doing well today. Drs Stephen and Dragos saved Fozzie's life and we are so thankful.
Thank you so much for the kind review, Dan! We understand how stressful it can be having a member of your family in the hospital. We are glad we could make it a little easier for you. Give Fozzie a pat from us!
Fantastic experience: The staff here were so amazing at such a awful time for us. So much care and empathy from the doctor ( Dr. Stephen McCorry) took great care of us and our sweet girl. I recommend this place 100%
We genuinely appreciate your thoughtful words. It's comforting for us to hear that we could provide solace to your family during this difficult time. Please remember that you are not alone in your grief.
Fantastic experience: I love this vet clinic, and have had multiple positive emergency experiences with them. I have brought two cats and my dog to this clinic now, my dog for raw bacon ingestion, my late cat for emergency euthanasia, and my current cat for a partial urinary blockage. Each time had a great experience, with my most recent experience being a few days ago with my cat. Dr McKee is a great vet, very informative and down to earth. Loved working with him and his veterinary team! Would totally recommend!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Hayley! We strive to provide compassionate and professional care and it’s rewarding to know that our efforts made a positive impact.
Negative experience: The actual veterinarian was extremely rude and told me I had to pretty well put my dog down and I took him home and he's been fine and actually improving the other option was to have a surgery for 17000.00 and was rude about me asking for the option of a surgery the receptionist was really nice but that's about it highly recommend not bringing your animals here enless need be just disgusted with her attitude towards my dog and me asking questions after she told me pretty well my only option is to euthanize my dog hope this helps
Thank you for sharing your experience, Connor. We’re sorry to hear that you left feeling frustrated with your dog’s care. Veterinary care decisions, especially regarding serious conditions, can be very challenging, and our recommendations are always made with the pet’s well-being in mind. We would like the opportunity to discuss your concerns and explain our approach further. Please reach out to us.
Positive experience: This is a hard review to write, but I am going to be completely honest about a recent experience. My wife took one of our cats in more than a week ago, and he was diagnosed with a minor respiratory issue and given antibiotics. Two hours later when we tried to give him the medicine, he convulsed, breathed hard, and his pupils were dilated. We took him back, and they found a pre-existing issue with blood clots, with one detaching and causing him to be euthanized at that time. It was a very difficult night, and not only did we wonder why the blood clot issue wasn't detected on the first visit, we were also put off by how fast the debit machine is given so we can pay the bill while crying our eyes out. The level of care here is very good, don't be me wrong. But, to look for money so fast when people are trying to cope with the sudden loss of a cherished pet just isn't right. If more vets focused on compassion instead of making money, the world would be a better place.
Fantastic experience: I have been to this office twice and both times I received nothing but kind and great service from all. The most recent visit on December 17th unfortunately we had to unexpectedly put down our dog. The entire staff was so sweet, caring and showed sincere sympathy to us in our devastating situation. We even received a heart felt card in the mail which the words were so sweet and were personalized towards us losing our Dexter. This goes way above any other office that I have dealt with. I would highly recommend the Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic.
Thank you for your kind words, Miranda. You have our heartfelt condolences. We know how stressful that situation can be and are glad that our team could make it a little easier for you. We sincerely appreciate your feedback. If you have any future questions, please feel free to give us a call.
Negative experience: My dog was hit by a car and I took him here, which was the worst mistake of my life, after leaving I called a few vets to see have them explain why I was paying for everything and too my surprise 90% of what they did and charged me for was either completely unnecessary or completely useless! They used my fear against me to trick me into paying for things the dog didn’t need. Will never be going back her or recommend to this place to anyone! Horrible vet who is just there to make money off people. They also called spca on me because I wouldn’t keep him in there care and spend more money.
Positive experience: Arrived with my pup who was attacked by a porcupine. The staff were very kind and friendly to my dog. We felt our dog was in great hands. The staff were great and removed the quills! Thank you Huronia
Hi Jessica, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We know how important your pet is to you because we are owners ourselves and huge animal enthusiasts. We love what we do and reviews like this truly make our day! Thanks again!
Fantastic experience: On Thanksgiving morning our dear 17 year old dog, Peaches, passed away at home. She wasn't just a pet, she was one of the family. We called the clinic to ask what our options were for burial. They were very compassionate and understanding over the phone. When we brought her in for cremation they were very compassionate and allowed us privacy to compose ourselves and make decisions about her burial. Explained everything. We couldn't have asked for any better understanding then what we received at such upsetting time. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your kind words, Linda. You have our heartfelt condolences. We know how stressful that situation can be and are glad that our team could make it a little easier for you. We sincerely appreciate your feedback. If you have any future questions, please feel free to give us a call.
Negative experience: Train your front staff to be more empathetic and compassionate. People are in distress when they call the hospital, and your front staff is giving so much attitude and so rude. Awful service
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Kira. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with our front staff left you feeling frustrated. Our team strives to provide compassionate and supportive service, especially when clients are calling during stressful situations. We appreciate your comments and will use them to improve staff training and communication. If you’d like to discuss your experience further, please reach out to us.
Negative experience: Normally I don’t write reviews, but I walked in at 8:00 pm as my cat had a mouth infection and was bleeding. When I entered the vet techs were amazing but I sat here for 9 hours as my cat was in extreme discomfort and pain waiting to see the vet. I think the assessment of my pet could’ve been done better. The doctor didn’t take any steps to try and assess my pet without sedation and me paying money for it even though I witnessed the vet techs open my pets mouth without any trouble in the triage twice. 2 days after leaving this place my cat passed away.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, Mickayla. We are truly sorry to hear about the loss of your cat and we recognize how distressing and painful this situation must have been for you.
Emergency settings can involve long and unpredictable wait times due to the severity of cases being treated, but we understand how difficult it is to wait when your pet is clearly uncomfortable. Decisions around sedation and handling are always made with patient safety in mind, particularly when pain, stress, or the risk of injury is a concern, even if a pet may appear tolerant at certain moments. That said, we appreciate your feedback regarding communication and expectations during the visit.
We would welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly. Please feel free to contact the clinic so we can connect with you personally.
Fantastic experience: Received a warm greeting upon arrival and they took my pets injuries very seriously. There was a bit of a wait but they do take severity of injuries into account so most hurt gets served first. The way it should be. Prices were very reasonable for after hours emergency service. So thankful to have somewhere to take our pets after hours in an emergency
We never take positive feedback like this for granted. Exceeding clients' expectations is what motivates us. Knowing we did that for you will inspire our team to keep raising the bar! Thank you! ⭐️
Negative experience: This review is long overdue because I don’t even think this place is worth one… but it’s bothered me ever since it happened and with recent events with a friend I feel the need to finally share it. During Covid my dog was having some back issues, later to be determined she has intervertebral disc disease. I had an appointment to see a specialist in Guelph to get her treated. A week before that appointment her back end gave out and she fell down the stairs, resulting in her not being able to walk. I called the Guelph hospital and they said I would have to go to an emergency vet and get them to make a referral call so I can go see them right away. I drove here and called them from the parking lot. I explained to the woman on my phone my situation, that I needed them to look her over and call guelph to classify this as an emergency situation. She replied “we are not that kind of vet.” I asked her to clarify that. She told me that they prioritize animals that need immediate medical attention like if they were hit by a car, and even if they did examine her they don’t make referral calls. I asked if they could at least give me some gabapentin to get her through the night and they said not without seeing her and it’s about a five hour wait time. I may have acted on my emotions and said some words to her which resulted in her hanging up on me. Okay fine, I was being rude. But my dog is in severe pain and I can’t do anything about it. When I finally went to Guelph, within 10 minutes they scheduled her in first thing in the morning for emergency spinal surgery.
We’re very sorry to hear about the challenges you and your dog experienced. We understand how stressful it can be when a pet is in pain and urgent care is needed. Emergency clinics have protocols in place to prioritize patients based on immediate medical needs, which can sometimes result in longer wait times for certain cases.
We always aim to provide guidance and support to owners in distress and we regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. If you would like to discuss further, please reach out to us.
Fantastic experience: My first emergency vet visit (very scary) with my kitty Charlie who dislocated his jaw! Staff were so sweet and caring and helped Charlie very quickly!! I really appreciate all of the staff who helped Charlie ❤️
We strive to make every client feel like family, so your thoughtful feedback means so much, Taylor. Knowing we have your trust and confidence motivates us. Thank you for taking a moment to share your positive experience - it truly made our day! ⭐️
Fantastic experience: We had to put our boy down last night. The staff couldn't have been any more compassionate ❤️ very comforting. Considering the outcome, we were very fortunate to have the kindness surrounding us. We can't thank you enough
We sincerely appreciate you for sharing your thoughts, Jamie. Saying farewell to our beloved pets is never easy. We feel privileged to have a team of dedicated professionals who offer compassionate care to make this challenging journey a bit more manageable. Should you ever have any questions in the future, please feel free to reach out to us anytime.
Positive experience: I wanted to take a moment to thank the team who worked last Monday afternoon/evening December 1, 2025 in particular Dr. Trish O'Sullivan. We had to rush our boxer down for care and were seen quickly due to the nature of his illness. Dr. O'Sullivan took the time to explain carefully what was going on and that we had little choice but to have him put down. She was very compassionate during the procedure and stayed with me until I said my goodbyes and was ready to leave. Everyone we dealt with was caring and considerate and we could not have wished for a better team at such a difficult time.
We truly appreciate you sharing your experience with us. We understand that saying goodbye to a cherished pet is an incredibly emotional and challenging moment. Our utmost priority is to provide compassionate care during these difficult times. Your feedback means a lot to us and we're here to support you whenever you need us.
Negative experience: NEVER come here if you ever have an emergency with your pet!! I would give this place zero stars if I could, for nearly killing my sisters 4 month old puppy. Her and her boyfriend had to drive nearly an hour to get do a different emergency clinic in newmarket because this location REFUSED to check out her puppy. His breath was weezy as he was having a terrible allergic reaction, and stopped breathing on the way to Newmarket. That location took him in immediately and saved his life. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT come here if you care for your pet. The 40 minute drive is worth it if saves your furry friends life
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Mikayla. We understand how concerning it can be when a young puppy shows signs of distress. Our team carefully triages all pets during emergency hours to ensure the safest and most appropriate care is provided. We encourage owners to communicate any changes in their pet’s condition immediately so we can respond appropriately. We appreciate your perspective and hope your sister’s puppy is doing well. Please reach out to us if you'd like to discuss further.
Negative experience: My friend took her puppy her when he had an allergic reaction and treated the situation terribly, they took forever and her puppy was coughing, ears were puffy , and face looked swelled up. She had to leave and make a trip down to newmarket thankful they took the puppy in right away.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, Alexis. We know it can be frightening when a pet is showing signs of an allergic reaction. Our team follows strict triage protocols to prioritize pets based on urgency and we always encourage owners to inform us if symptoms change or worsen while waiting. Thank you for your feedback and we sincerely hope your friend’s puppy is doing well.
Negative experience: my experience here has been nothing but the worst. where do i even start, we had called in ahead of time because my 4 month old american bull dog was having an allergic reaction we were told to bring him in and he would be seen immediately, they had also told us to wait in the car because they did not want to have him in right away. they came out to the car to check his temp where they did it outside in the cold from there we waited almost 5 hours in that time span his symptoms worsened, hives all over his body ears puffed up like balloons skin and eyes were bright red and his breathing got weezy we brought this up to their attention which they told us there was nothing they can do for us after waiting for another 30 minutes we decided to pay and leave to bring him to the emergency vet in newmarket veterinarian emergency urgent care on 1210 journeys end. we had to drive the 40 minutes because the horrible experience here. during the car ride my puppy started choking and stopped breathing for a little, once we arrived before we could finish any paperwork they started treating my puppy. at veterinarian emergency urgent care they were absolutely amazing they saved my puppy’s life. i can not stress this enough if your pet is having an emergency DO NOT consider this joke of an animal hospital as an option please save the time and money to bring them somewhere people will care for your pets. i am completely and utterly disappointed by the service here.
Thank you for sharing your concerns, Danyela. We understand how stressful it is when a young puppy is experiencing an allergic reaction. Our team follows emergency triage procedures to ensure pets are seen safely and appropriately, and the information provided about your pet’s symptoms is what we rely on to prioritize care. It’s important to communicate all changes or new symptoms right away so we can assess urgency accurately. We welcome you to contact the clinic directly to discuss your experience. We hope your puppy is recovering well.
Negative experience: Don’t come to this vet at all my dog was having a allergic reaction and couldn’t breathe properly he’s a 4 month old American bull dog his ears where swollen and we where there for almost 5 hours I told them he was getting worse and they said they couldn’t do anything I had to drive 40 min to a emergency vet and my dog stopped breathing in the car down in Newmarket they did a amazing job I was filling papers and before I could finish my dog was already being treated I went to Veterinary Emergency, urgent care on 1210 journeys end in Newmarket don’t waste your money and time with the vet if your pet is having a emergency and it’s late and there no other place to take them drive those 40 minutes and your dog will be treated the second you get there
We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frightening it is when a puppy is having difficulty breathing. Our team follows triage protocols to provide safe and timely care, and it is important for owners to communicate any changes in their pet’s symptoms. If you'd like to discuss further, please call us.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been here twice, and both times the staff has been wonderful. You can tell they really love their job! Only thing I would say is prepare to stay there for VERY long hours. I was there for 12 hours because my dog wasn’t a severe case like other fur babies that kept coming in. But if my dog was a severe case I would want them to put him ahead of others so I understood why it took so long.
Thank you for your thoughtful review, Abena. We’re so glad to hear that our team has made such a positive impression and that their dedication to caring for pets comes through during your visits.
We appreciate your understanding regarding wait times. Our priority is always to provide urgent care to pets in critical need, which can sometimes extend the time other patients wait. We know long waits can be challenging and we truly appreciate your patience as we ensure each pet receives the attention they require. Thank you again for sharing your experience and we look forward to caring for your furry family member in the future.
Fantastic experience: In an emergency situation it is hard to manage emotions, but I will always recommend going to this clinic to whoever asks. When we lost our senior dog two weeks ago, I was an absolute mess, but they were so kind and understanding. They accommodated my request of wanting to hold my dog the entire time, so instead of them taking him to the back for an IV they did it in the room well I sat with him in my arms. They talked us through what to expect and what may or may not happen. The way the talked us through each step with empathy and compassion was so helpful. It was an incredibly hard day, and I want able to thank them well I was there, but the staff truly stood out to me and made this extremely difficult day just a tad bit easier with the kindness they provided. Thank you to the staff that helped us as Rocky crossed the rainbow bridge. He was such a loving, kind soul and you giving him the kindness and care during his passing has touched our hearts forever.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and kind words. We are deeply sorry for your loss and can only imagine how difficult that day must have been. It means so much to us to hear that our team could provide comfort and support during such a heartbreaking time.
Our staff always strives to treat every pet and family with compassion, understanding, and respect, especially during end-of-life care. Knowing that we could help make Rocky’s final moments a little more peaceful and that you felt supported while holding him in your arms is truly heartwarming.
Fantastic experience: We brought in our son’s dog that found a porcupine yesterday. The vet and the staff were all amazing and so compassionate. We are very thankful for the wonderful support they gave us and Cash.
Patient and client care are very important to us. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience with our team. If you have any future questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call.
Fantastic experience: This veterinary team has helped through what can be considered one of our hardest moments, our little beagle had some horrible back pain a slipped disc, and their team espicially Sue, Jonathan, Debbie and Dr Jingyan Zhang. They have shown nothing but professionalism and genuine care for our fur baby. We've had to call them in our moments of panic and Sue has answered all of our calls with the upmost professionalism being nothing but kind and helpful, they helped us through all of our questions no matter the time!
Thank you for the glowing review, Julian! We know your pets are family, so going above and beyond for you is our top priority. We're grateful you took a moment to share your great experience with us. It keeps us motivated!
Fantastic experience: This is our go to place for our fur baby emergencies! I can’t remember exactly the first time we came here (at the old location) for our very first fur baby, I would guess around 2010 (probably earlier). Approximately fifteen years later and we still think of Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic for any and all emergencies! We have recommended others over the years and they have also had great care given to their fur babies by the staff here. They are supportive, knowledgeable, caring… the list continues! Thank you once again for everything! We truly appreciate all of you!
Patient and client care are very important to us. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience with our team. If you have any future questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call.
Fantastic experience: I wish I could give them more stars. Our minpin dog was attacked by a coyote and barely made it out alive. This was horrific and we were traumatized having fought her out of the coyote's mouth. The clinic was SO responsive, waiting outside for us to take our dog and were so considerate with us. During all this chaos, they were diligent with process, clean, and kind. During a horrible event, they still managed to make us feel taken care of and hopeful. I showed the sutures afterwards to several vets I know and they said the Dr. who saved our dogs life performed exceptionally skilled work for a difficult case.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Julia! We strive to provide compassionate and professional care and it’s rewarding to know that our efforts made a positive impact.
Negative experience: I have never used an emergency veterinary hospital before and I have to say it was the worst experience. I spent 7 and a half hours there with my cat who has blocked anal glands, severe redness on the back end, which triage told me was definitely an infection. She is struggling to use the bathroom because of the pain and discomfort she is experiencing. After those 7 and a half hours we walked out never seeing a vet and with no end in sight. We arrived at 6 pm and left at 135am. Every single dog that came in after use was seen a head of us and they never took her as a priority and left us in a room. There was one lady there that tried so hard to get her seen as she could clearly see the pain and discomfort she was in but it went to no avail. We left feeling like they just didn't care about the well being and discomfort of our animal. I wanted to post a picture of what her back end looks like but she is so uncomfortable and in pain she won't let me near her or even touch that area. I am just beyond disappointed with the lack of care and concern they had for the well being of my animal. I was lucky to find another animal hospital, just down the road, that I could book an appt for tomorrow. I would definitely say if you can find another animal hospital to go to I would. Only use this place as a complete last resort, and keep your fingers crossed they think your pet is a priority.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Christina, and we’re very sorry to hear how much discomfort your cat was in. We understand how upsetting it is to wait that long, especially when you’re worried and your pet is in pain. In an emergency setting, patients must be seen based on the severity of their condition, not arrival order. However, even within triage, we want every family to feel informed and supported, and we’re sorry that wasn’t your experience.
We’d really appreciate the opportunity to review what happened and see where communication may have fallen short. If you’re open to it, please contact us so we can look into this further and ensure your concerns are addressed directly.
Fantastic experience: Recently had to uthenise our oldest dog and the level of kindness and care the showed him was amazing. It was by far one of the hardest days of my life but the staff there made it stress free and showed love and care. Even after the passing receiving a card from the staff all signed brought me to tears. This is by far one of the nicest, loveable, caring emergency vet clinics.
Thank you for your kind words, Jenny. You have our heartfelt condolences. We know how stressful that situation can be and are glad that our team could make it a little easier for you. We sincerely appreciate your feedback. If you have any future questions, please feel free to give us a call.
Negative experience: Sadly our experience here was awful. We brought our 2 year old Chow Chow in bleeding from her nose and coughing up blood. Over an hour had gone by without her being looked at, they only gave us a puppy pad to contain the bleeding. We made the decision to leave and drive to King Animal hospital so she would be seen. Her condition was sudden and severe! We lost our baby the next day. I’d recommend making the drive to king as they were attentive as soon as we arrived they put her on oxygen to start. Every minute counted with her bleeding. Huronia you need to do better.
Dear Cheri, We are truly heartbroken to hear about the loss of your pet. We understand how sudden and severe symptoms can be incredibly frightening and losing a beloved companion is devastating. Our hearts go out to you during this very difficult time.
At our hospital, we use a triage process to prioritize pets in the most critical condition and ensure everyone receives timely care. We are very sorry if you felt left without guidance during this emergency and deeply regret the pain this situation caused. Please reach out if you would like to discuss further.
Fantastic experience: Brought my old, sick dog here when his health suddenly took a turn for the worst. I called ahead, got there, and we were in the room within minutes to put him out of his misery. The staff was very kind, considerate, and quick. The euthanasia cost was actually rather comparable to a regular vet ($324+tax as of 0ct 2025) and is actually cheaper than many vets. Keep in mind, I came in around 12am-1am, so they weren't busy, so your experience may differ, especially for an *EMERGENCY 24/7 VET.* But if all other vets are closed, this is a great place to go to in an emergency. Overall, great staff, and just glad there's an emergency vet to go to.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Michael. We’re glad we could be there for you and your dog during such a difficult time. It means a lot to hear that our team’s care and compassion made a difference in a challenging situation.
Fantastic experience: This week I brought my shih tzu Keno to Huronia because he was very sick. They were very compassionate and comforting with him and me. They sent us home with a diagnosis and some hope. Unfortunately things took a turn for the worse and Kenos sickness de-escalated quickly and I called Huronia back and they said bring him in immediately so I packed him up and drove to Barrie again. When I got there they immediately took him in and assessed him only to confirm my feeling that it was his time and I had to let him go to end his suffering. Huronia was again very compassionate and respectful of my feelings and I am very grateful for them. They are amazing and I will tell everyone to go there with their pets. Excellent service Over and above
We genuinely appreciate your thoughtful words. It's comforting for us to hear that we could provide solace to your family during this difficult time. Please remember that you are not alone in your grief.
Negative experience: Terrible staff today. Kinda rude. I definitely do not recommend. Always thought they were great and always recommended them but after my interaction today with them. Never again.
Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we deeply regret that your encounter did not meet the high standards we set for our practice. Rest assured that we take this matter seriously and will be addressing it internally. Your satisfaction is of utmost importance to us, and we would like to make amends. Please reach out to us at (705) 722-037, and we would be grateful for the opportunity to discuss your concerns further and work towards a more positive experience.
Fantastic experience: I want to say they were amazing at dealing with our hard situation with our dog Bear. After hearing the results of Bears sudden sickness they handled everything with patients and care. Gave us all the the time we needed with our baby before we had to say goodbye. I definately recommend them .
Thank you for your kind words, Meagan. You have our heartfelt condolences. We know how stressful that situation can be and are glad that our team could make it a little easier for you. We sincerely appreciate your feedback. If you have any future questions, please feel free to give us a call.
Fantastic experience: My dog recently passed away and with my own vet on hiatus I brought him to Huronia Vet. The staff took him in through a back door, and allowed me and my husband as much time as we needed to say goodbye in a private area. The staff were incredibly compassionate and understanding, and they answered all of our questions. As well, they provided a link to choose a specialty urn and other memorial items we would like to purchase. We picked him up less than a week later, and the staff included complimentary paw print wallet cards as well as a fur clipping in a nice little pouch. During such a devastating time, my husband and I felt well cared for, and we have no doubt that our dog was also well taken care of in preparation for cremation. I am forever grateful to all the staff we interacted with. Thank you.
We sincerely appreciate you for sharing your thoughts, Melissa. Saying farewell to our beloved pets is never easy. We feel privileged to have a team of dedicated professionals who offer compassionate care to make this challenging journey a bit more manageable. Should you ever have any questions in the future, please feel free to reach out to us anytime.
Negative experience: Called ahead to get my dog in for an emergency visit. They said it was no problem to bring him in. Terrible experience. I waited over 4 hours in the waiting room before giving up and going home, to make my dog feel more comfortable. That was in the morning. They called me at 9pm looking for him. So you’re telling me I would have been waiting 12 hours to see a vet So happy I left!! So cruel seeing animals in pain waiting hours for an emergency vet! IT WASNT EVEN BUSY! Maybe they only have one vet? The techs give zero updates on how long the wait is. Worst part is it’s the only emergency vet around! I called my regular vet, ALDERGROVE, the next day, got in right away. Would give 0 stars, and will never return! Huronia is a walk-in vet, NOT an emergency clinic. If you are having an emergency, go elsewhere!!
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and we're truly sorry for any inconvenience you faced due to the long wait at our emergency hospital. We understand how distressing such situations can be, and we continuously strive to improve our services and reduce waiting times. Emergencies can be unpredictable, and we always prioritize the critical cases while making every effort to attend to all patients as quickly as possible. Please know that your pet's well-being remains our utmost concern and we hope to provide a smoother experience if you choose us for emergency care in the future.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing team! One of the hardest days of my life but they helped so much. Very caring and informative. No nonsense at all and very compassionate! Highly recommend.
Hello Jordan, thank you for your fantastic review! We are grateful for this feedback as our staff prides themselves so much on providing this gold-star service! Thank you!
Fantastic experience: We recently had to put our 16 year old westie down. We were expecting this to happen but not so quickly. He had a stroke and was in bad shape. We did not want him to suffer further. The staff were so accommodating ( it was a Saturday evening). They were beyond compassionate and 100% with supporting our decision. Never easy at all. Thank you.Georgie. Always in our ❤️
We truly appreciate you sharing your experience with us. We understand that saying goodbye to a cherished pet is an incredibly emotional and challenging moment. Our utmost priority is to provide compassionate care during these difficult times. Your feedback means a lot to us and we're here to support you whenever you need us.
Fantastic experience: This was my first time at this location with my dog Rosie, the staff is very friendly and was amazing with my dog and explained everything with no surprises. My dog was seen ans treated with home care medication and im so grateful they took the time to get to the bottom of it as a previous vet left us with no answers. Thankyou!!
We appreciate the kind words, Melissa. We do our very best to provide the attention each of our clients and their pets need and deserve. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to give us a call.
Negative experience: I will not intrust this facility with the care of my dog again. If you can, I suggest making the drive elsewhere for life-threatening emergencies. Our dog arrived in serious, but stable condition. In less than a day, he deteriorated in their care and became critically ill. Our conversations with the vets treating him did not instil any confidence in us that they understood or were equipped to deal with his type of emergency and frankly, they didn't seem overly interested in trying to save his life. In our opinion, they also did not adequately communicate that our dog's health was declining seriously and rapidly. Perhaps most disheartening and inappropriate was one vet's comment that our dog — a beloved member of our family — was "circling the drain". How incredibly insensitive. We got off that phone call and had an agonizing 4-hour to pick him up and then drive another hour to transfer him to a Toronto area facility. I'm so glad that we did, as the other facility saved his life. The level of care and compassion he received there was far superior. I am grateful that our dog didn't spend his final hours in this animal hospital and that he has since come home and continues to recover. Yet, we are still haunted by some of the cold and insensitive comments made during his time at Huronia. We will never go back. This was our experience. I hope that yours will be better.
Hi Julia, We are very sorry to hear about your experience and the distress it caused you and your dog. We understand how frightening it can be when a pet’s condition is serious and we regret that you felt our communication and care did not meet your expectations.
Our team is committed to providing the highest level of care and compassion for all patients, and feedback like yours helps us reflect on how we can improve communication and support for pet owners during critical situations. We take concerns like insensitive language very seriously and will continue to review and reinforce our standards for professional, empathetic communication. We truly hope your dog continues to recover well and we appreciate you sharing your perspective. If you would like to discuss your experience further, please contact our clinic directly.
Fantastic experience: Don't let the mixed and negative reviews deter you if you do in fact need an emergency vet. We were stuck in an emergency euthanasia situation for our dog on a Sunday, two months ago. After reading the reviews we didn't want to use this office but the next closest was 40+minutes away and we didn't want to do this to our dog. We were extremely happy with the care and compassion we, and our dog, were shown. The front desk staff, the doctors, the care providers, everyone was so kind. I'm writing this review so that if you find yourself in a similar situation, with no where else to turn, please know that we had a great experience.
Thank you for the glowing review! We know your pets are family, so going above and beyond for you is our top priority. We're grateful you took a moment to share your great experience with us. It keeps us motivated!
Fantastic experience: Today is one of the saddest days of our lives. Our beloved cat Mr.Marshmello passed away. He vomited yesterday and we thought he was dizzy not walking properly. This morning he couldn’t move his back legs and we drove to Huronia Veterinary Emergency. We arrived and they right away took him to emergency. They took us to private room as it was a very difficult situation. He would be put on IV just for us to see him after would have to be taken down. The Veterinary Doctor came to the room and said he had a deep breath and peacefully passed away. The staff was so kind and they did everything they could to help us in this horrible situation. I’m very thankful that our Prince last minutes were with you guys. Will never forget how nice everyone was with us !
We truly appreciate you sharing your experience with us. We understand that saying goodbye to a cherished pet is an incredibly emotional and challenging moment. Our utmost priority is to provide compassionate care during these difficult times. Your feedback means a lot to us and we're here to support you whenever you need us.
Positive experience: To start I want to say that the staff were friendly in a busy environment. Having said that, I think they're very understaffed. The cost was truly insane as well. I waited a total of 7hrs to have my pet triaged just to have no diagnosis. 500$ for some pain meds and a few cans of food. There was no way to get a urine sample with my pet after having to wait 7hrs and him being stressed and not wanting to drink. So I had to spend another 400$ with my regular vet to tell me exactly what I knew was the problem in the first place. I wish there were more options than this one emergency hospital in Barrie. I feel so sorry for people who can't pay these exorbitant prices to keep their pets healthy. - Just one thing I have to say, my pet was so stressed and the noise from the back hallway was crazy loud. I'm sure the staff don't realize it because they work there all day but I could see the fear in my pet as it was taken to the back. Just FYI
Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad our staff were friendly but we’re sorry your experience was stressful and didn’t meet your expectations. Emergency care can involve longer wait times and we understand how difficult that can be for both pets and owners. Your comments about the environment and patient stress are appreciated and will help us improve. Please feel free to contact the clinic if you’d like to discuss your experience further.
Fantastic experience: We had an amazing time at this vet hospital! We drove over an hour to get here because our dog was exhibiting strange and concerning symptoms. The vet tech in the lobby greeted us immediately. Within 5 minutes of observing him, they noted right away that he has likely eaten marijuana by eating a joint butt outside on our walk. They explained that all of the symptoms we were experiencing with our puppy only comes from THC ingestion but we could stay to see a doctor and get his urine sampled if we like. The vet tech checked his heart beat, temperature, and other tests to see if he was functioning normally. We ended up leaving and we were not charged any money for the consultation with the vet tech. I feel so grateful to have received their expertise and care without paying anything since it wasn’t a true emergency. Most vets just cite off numerous tests and procedures that are costly and refuse to provide their advice based on years of experience working with animals. Totally recommend this vet hospital!
Hello C, thank you for your fantastic review! We are grateful for this feedback as our staff prides themselves so much on providing this gold-star service! Thank you!
Fantastic experience: We had to bring our dog Poe in after he decided that eating an Aleve on the Friday of a long weekend was a great idea (spoiler alert: it wasn’t). The staff at the clinic were patient, kind, and supportive throughout the long night, and were patient and understanding with my million questions. They were also fantastic when we had to come back for three more nights for bloodwork. Special thanks to Dr. Zhang who went out of her way to be thoughtful, compassionate, and communicative. Poe is doing amazing thanks to their awesome care!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Linden! We strive to provide compassionate and professional care and it’s rewarding to know that our efforts made a positive impact.
Negative experience: My sister brought in her pug at 4pm the other day that was crying in pain, nearly paralyzed and vomiting from pancreatitis…after waiting 5 hours and other pets in much less serious situations being brought in and seen before him (eye drops and porcupine quills? Really?) he vomited again and when the staff was alerted that he was getting worse, my mother was dismissed with “Just chill.” They waited for 4 more hours, were given painkillers, and the dog died today at home. I don’t know who you have working triage but they need to retake their training on emergency assessment and how to speak to clients. You don’t speak to distressed people that way. My sister lost her best friend of 12 years today and that poor baby’s suffering could have been eased significantly if he had been seen according to proper triage.
Dear Laura, We are very sorry for the distressing experiences you’ve described and sincerely empathize with the concern and pain you felt for your pets. As an emergency clinic, our team must prioritize patients based on the urgency of their medical condition. This can mean that pets in the most critical state are treated before others, even if they have been waiting longer. Please know that every patient is carefully assessed and our goal is always to provide the best care possible for each animal. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve how we communicate and support clients during urgent situations.
Negative experience: Don't waste your time. My dog was bleeding from her eye as a result of being attacked by another dog. We drove to this place as fast as we could, got there at 1:30 PM. While we got triaged the lady was not invested in my dog's state. She put us in the "queue". At around 6:30 PM I went to the front and asked where we are in the queue. She said there was 3 ahead of us. I completely understand that they are an emergency vet and that animals have emergencies all the time. However, my dog's eye was swollen to the point where I could hardly see her eyeball. Every single animal that came in after me was seen and sent home. We were one of 2 dogs left in the place. At 10:30 PM I asked again for the 3rd time if my dog was even on the list and said her condition is serious. The lady said there were 3 ahead of her once again. I firmly believe that they never intended to look at her or even gave half a care about her. I have never been more angry and uncared for in my life. I left and went somewhere else. This place is a waste of time.
Hi Madison, We are very sorry for the experiences you’ve described and truly empathize with the distress you and your pets went through. We understand how frightening it can be when a pet is in pain or a critical condition.
As an emergency clinic, our team must prioritize patients based on the severity and immediacy of their medical needs. This means that pets in the most critical condition are treated first, even if other patients have been waiting longer. Please know that every patient is carefully assessed and we never take the urgency of a pet’s needs lightly. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continually improve communication and care during stressful situations. Our priority is always the health, safety, and well-being of every pet that comes through our doors. If you would like to discuss further, please reach out to us.
Negative experience: We went in with our dog small fish hook in paw. Told us he would need surgery and to be sedated. Staff seemed nice and courteous however everything felt like an up sell tactic and the wait was outrageous. We chose to leave as we expected a local freezing and pull the hook. We chose to see another vet next day and they literally did just that. Absolutely no surgery or even follow up needed.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Jenn. We understand that situations involving pets can be stressful and our team strives to provide safe and thorough care while discussing all potential options. We always aim to ensure that recommended procedures are in the best interest of the pet’s health and we work closely with owners to explain the reasoning behind them. We appreciate your comments and will continue to review how we communicate options to ensure clarity and understanding for all clients.
Fantastic experience: To the entire staff of this emergency clinic we wish to thank everyone for their compassion, professionalism and empathy during our visit on August 10th. Our Cat was severely ill and was looked after in the most loving way by all before her euthanization. We couldn't have asked for a better experience considering the horrible circumstances. Thank you ALL again.
We never take positive feedback like this for granted. Exceeding clients' expectations is what motivates us. Knowing we did that for you will inspire our team to keep raising the bar! Thank you! ⭐️
Fantastic experience: In late July our little dog had an acute medical event while we were vacationing in the area. The clinic took our calls and provided compassionate care when we arrived. We were seen immediately and everything was well explained. After our pet passed away, the staff were very caring and gentle with us. We never felt rushed. We were informed along the way. The after care note and dealing with her remains was done with grace.
Thank you for your kind words, Doug. You have our heartfelt condolences. We know how stressful that situation can be and are glad that our team could make it a little easier for you. We sincerely appreciate your feedback. If you have any future questions, please feel free to give us a call.
Fantastic experience: I brought my cat JJ in because he was having lots of breathing problems and I thought he was gonna die! I was hysterical, and was so scared my JJ wasn't going to make it. And the amazing nurses, staff and Dr were incredibly reassuring, patient, and sooo caring and confident and saved JJ's life...not only did they save my JJ's life, they saved mine. I wanna thank all the heros who work at the Barrie Emergency Clinic, thank you so much! And, a special thanks to the nurse who helped me when I first arrived...she was/is amazing . She understood completely what I was going through, and helped ease my mind, with comforting words and stories! Hope the corn-roast was good I would have no problems recommending this Emergency vet clinic to anyone. Thank you for all your help and saving both JJ's life and mine. I cannot thank you guys enough!!! Best Regards: Dennis Desjardine
Hi Dennis, thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a thoughtful review! As fellow pet owners, we know how important it is to find a veterinarian you can trust with your furry family members. We strive to provide compassionate, high-quality care to all of our patients, so it means the world to hear we exceeded your expectations. Thanks again for the kind words - they really made our day!
Negative experience: Took my cat in because he was so so sick. Not eating and vomiting. Took him here and was told that he had cancer in his intestine and would probably die. We asked to have the x-rays sent to our local vet so he could have surgery to remove the cancer. Firstly they sent the wrong x-rays, it was a dog. Secondly, it was not cancer but a foam toy that he had eaten that was blocking anything he ate. My local vet had it removed and he made a full recovery but absolutely no thanks to this place. Do better.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand how stressful it can be when a beloved pet is unwell and we regret any confusion caused during the process. Our team always strives to provide thorough assessments and accurate diagnostic information based on the information and imaging available at the time. We encourage clients to reach out directly if there are any concerns or questions so that we can provide clarification and support for their pets.
Negative experience: I called the huronia emergency vet clinic as it was number on the answering machine at my vet clinic to call after hours. My dog had got a metal piece hooked under her eye on the under eye lid and was in excruciating pain. The receptionist blunty said do not come here and gave me another emergency vet to call. I called back and begged her to see us as it was way closer and she blunty said again do not come hear, we cannot help you. I am very glad.now they didn't see us as we got in touch with kings animal hospital who glady told us to bring her in. Even though it was a further drive they are the kind of animal hospital that you would want to see your pet. I'd tell anyone to drive the extra hour and not bother with huronia vet clinic.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Danielle. We are truly sorry to hear about the distress your dog was in and how upsetting this situation must have been for you. We understand how important it is to feel supported during emergencies.
In cases where surgery may be required, if the veterinarian on duty is unable to perform surgery due to medical reasons, our team will recommend that pets are taken directly to a facility fully equipped to provide immediate surgical care. While we know this may feel discouraging in the moment, our goal is always to avoid any delays in treatment or additional costs that could arise if your pet needed to be transferred after an exam here. We’re relieved to hear your dog was able to receive the care she needed and we wish her a smooth recovery. If you’d like to speak further about your experience, our management team would be happy to connect with you directly.
Fantastic experience: Incredible staff. Had to go make the tough decision to put our family dog down. Vet was very clear with his information on the situation so we could make an informed decision. the rest of the staff were very empathic and sweet to us in that very difficult time. Everyone signed a card and sent us an ink of his nose and paw as well as clipping of his hair. Very thankful for the kindness that was shown to us as I’m sure it’s not easy for them either ❤️
Thank you for your kind words, Hillary. You have our heartfelt condolences. We know how stressful that situation can be and are glad that our team could make it a little easier for you. We sincerely appreciate your feedback. If you have any future questions, please feel free to give us a call.
Negative experience: I would give 0 stars if I could- As someone who has been working in the veterinary field for over 5 years, I can promise you this emergency clinic's main priority is not your furbaby's health; and it continues to get worse. They consistently fail to explain any medications/treatments they insist on administering to clients/patients, improperly triage their cases and also decline most referrals from vet clinics. I understand places are busy - but there is a certain level of discernment & understanding emergency vet's need to possess that this business does not have whatsoever.
Thank you for sharing your perspective and experience. We take all feedback seriously as it helps us improve the care and communication we provide to both pets and their families.
We strive to ensure every patient receives appropriate and timely care, and we understand how important clear explanations and proper triage are in an emergency setting. We regret if we did not meet your expectations in these areas. If you’d like to discuss your concerns further, please feel free to reach out to us directly.
Negative experience: Definitely do not recommend bringing your pet here for an emergency.... place looked nice. Front desk was respectful. But our experience wasn't great... our 4 year old shepherd mix had a gash on her snout along with a puncture wound above her eye from a dog fight... we called they said to bring her in. Our vet office was closed brought her there.. we arrived just before 7pm. Checked in. Believe we got called in to triage around 8:30pm... we were told that we would be seen in 15-20 mins ... we waited until 10pm then went an asked again... we were told we were next an that there was one dog ahead of us... for the next 5 hours we sat their an waited until 3:15am when we were finally called an put into our own room... we waited another 30mins before the doctor came in. Mathew mckee...He gave us run down of procedure an cost but seemed fairly ignorant... we sat an wait awhile longer before they took her in. We were told it would be a 10 min procedure an waited till about 4:30am before they brought her back into our room could barely stand an was basically be dragged... we asked if there was any damage to the back of her eye which he responded he didnt know.....at this point i was pissed off an expressed this is the worst vet experience I've ever recieved. I grabbed the meds an carried my girl out while making it known at the front desk that this place was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a vet office.... an definitely will never be coming back....while they took the payment... over $1000 in cost.... definitely do not recommend this place for emergency service.....
Thank you for sharing your experience, Mathew. We’re truly sorry for the distress you and your dog endured during your visit. We understand how urgent and frightening emergency situations can be and we regret that the wait time and care did not meet your expectations.
Emergency clinics often experience high patient volumes and prioritize cases based on severity, which can unfortunately result in longer waits for some patients. We strive to provide thorough and careful treatment to every pet and we apologize if communication regarding your dog’s condition and procedure was unclear. Please know your feedback is important to us, and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns further. Feel free to reach out directly if you wish.
Fantastic experience: Two hour drive with a dog attacked by a coyote, with a 30 min notice and they saw my dog right away. Dr. Tudose was excellent - my dog was assessed quickly. It was determined he needed surgery that couldn't be performed there and found a hospital that could in Toronto. He stabilized him before we transferred him. Great care, kind and competent staff.
Thank you for the glowing review, Michelle! We know your pets are family, so going above and beyond for you is our top priority. We're grateful you took a moment to share your great experience with us. It keeps us motivated!
Negative experience: I wish I could give minus stars and wish I could do it all over again because I would not go there ever again. Receptionist nice the rest of the experience traumatizing and horrible. Was very not impressed. I was told it would be a minute or 2 to put the iv line in she was gone 30mins. Valuable time i could of been with her. They said they needed to sedate her. They didn't do it infront of me so I could be with her and keep her calm. I was pissed brought her back and the vet tech said when we were sedating her she was freaking out looking for her mom. U think!!! Of course she was I was soo pissed off!!! Why would they not bring her back to me to be there to calm her. I'm beyond heart broken. She was out of her mind when I seen her again and 30mins drugged up without me. They drugged her and didnt bring her back to me for over 30mins. Then after they put her down I felt like they rushed me to say bye. I will never go back there and am going to tell everyone I know the horrible experience I had, so no one will have to lose precious time with their beloved fur baby. Absolutely traumatizing and all I can think about is my baby freaking out with stangers all around and me not able to be there to comfort her in her most time of need. Exactly what I didn't want to happen!!!!
Dear Jessica, We are truly sorry to hear that your experience during such a difficult moment left you feeling this way. Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is never easy and we understand how important those final moments are. Please know that we always aim to provide compassionate care and support to both our patients and their families. If you’re open to it, we’d appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly to better understand what happened and how we can improve.
Fantastic experience: I went in this morning with my Snoopy Dogg he was sore and very stressed out the ladies all helped me keep him calm. When I was able to get into see the triage Nurse Lacy she was amazing and was able to help figure out what was wrong. Also needing a hug and she had one for me. Thank you again for an amazing experience and for loving my Pup . 5 Stars ⭐️ All the way.
We never take positive feedback like this for granted. Exceeding clients' expectations is what motivates us. Knowing we did that for you will inspire our team to keep raising the bar! Thank you! ⭐️
Negative experience: Dear Management: This is call EMERGENCY for a reason... Dear Clients: This place is experiencing significant understaffing issues resulting in horrendous prolonged wait times. Witnessing our pets in distress is already taxing, and a 10+ hour wait only exacerbates the situation. While the management apologizes for the inconvenience and emotional strain, they fail to implement meaningful solutions. (Just Check how many times they have apologized). It's imperative to address the root cause rather than simply acknowledging & apologizing for the issue. We urge the ownership to take concrete actions to rectify the problem and prioritize client well-being.
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns, Elaine. We understand how stressful it is to wait while your pet is in distress. As an emergency clinic, we follow a triage system to ensure the most critical cases are seen first, which can unfortunately lead to extended wait times, especially during high-volume periods or staff shortages. While we do our best to support every patient and client with care and transparency, we know how difficult the wait can be. We truly appreciate your patience and welcome a conversation if you’d like to share more.
Fantastic experience: We had the unfortunate experience to have to use Huronja Vet Clinic to say goodbye to our Hazel today, and as heartbreaking as the experience was, Maya and Dr Stephen made sure that we were as informed, supported and our baby taken care of during the whole ordeal. They explained how it all happens, step by step what they do and what to expect, and were so kind and empathetic. They provided us with treats for Hazel, a room that was much more soothing than an examination room, and all the time we needed. Thank you for taking care of our Hazel
We sincerely appreciate you for sharing your thoughts, Liz. Saying farewell to our beloved pets is never easy. We feel privileged to have a team of dedicated professionals who offer compassionate care to make this challenging journey a bit more manageable. Should you ever have any questions in the future, please feel free to reach out to us anytime.
Negative experience: Service is friendly and kind, the wait time is obscene. Showed up at 1030pm, wasn't seen until 0330am with little updates about the wait. Once in an attending room, sat around until 0630am between visits from the vet until we received a prescription and test results. No real regard for patients time. I appreciate the hard work, but 8 hours overnight is beyond aggravating.
Thank you for your feedback, Matt. We're truly sorry to hear about the long wait you experienced. Overnight visits can be especially stressful and we understand how frustrating it must have been. While emergency cases are prioritized based on urgency rather than arrival time, we recognize that more timely updates during the wait would have helped ease some of the frustration.
We appreciate your recognition of the team’s effort and kindness despite the delays. Your comments help us identify areas for improvement and we will share this with our team to better support our clients moving forward. Wishing your pet a smooth recovery and thank you again for your patience.
Negative experience: Drove an hour and forty five minutes..waited from 7:00 pm to 8:30am 13.5 hours and counting….still guy ahead of me at this point who’s dog would need some time…thankfully got hold of my vet and they fit me in. The new front staff lady that came in the morning had zero empathy. Tired to muster it but it fell really flat. Almost intentionally unhelpful. After such a long night with a dog with a three prong fish hook deeply impeded in its mouth…it was too much for me. Yes triage I get it! But they’re under staffed for the volume..and for people driving far it’s dangerous. Sleep deprivation is no joke on the road. Guy ahead of me really needed to get home to his other dogs..he will drive and he was totally exhausted. Who knows when he left.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Kelly. We’re genuinely sorry to hear how difficult and exhausting your visit was and we fully understand how distressing it must have been to wait through the night with an injured pet. Triage at an emergency clinic means we must prioritize the most critical cases first, which can lead to extended wait times, especially when we’re at full capacity.
That said, your comments about the lack of empathy and support at the front desk are deeply concerning. We never want any client to feel dismissed or unheard, particularly in such a stressful situation. Your feedback has been shared with our team as we continue working to improve communication, compassion, and client care, even during our busiest times. If you would like to discuss further, please reach out to us.
Negative experience: They just care about money and not the pet. Told me my kitten had a broken jaw and would have to be hooked up to iv to because he couldn’t eat. Needed surgery to fix it. Took him to my vet and no broken jaw no surgery just a laceration.
Thank you for your feedback, Steve. We're sorry to hear about your experience and understand how upsetting it can be to receive conflicting information regarding your pet's condition. As an emergency clinic, our team works quickly based on the clinical signs presented to guide timely care decisions. In some cases, further diagnostics are recommended to confirm a suspected issue, but outcomes may vary depending on the next steps taken. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and will review how we communicate our assessments to ensure greater clarity. If you have any further concerns or would like to speak with someone from our team, please feel free to reach out directly.
Negative experience: I took my puppies to the doctor for an emergency checkup, and they made me wait six hours. I got upset and left. As I was leaving, a girl caught up with me in the parking lot to tell me they were going to check my puppies right now. Thankfully, nothing happened to my puppies in those six hours, otherwise they wouldn't even notice.
Thank you for voicing your concerns, Diosefat. We make it a priority to give the best possible care to as many patients as we can while ensuring that each and every one of our patients also receive the highest quality of care. As an emergency hospital, we are obligated to triage all pets at any time of day to ensure that pets that require life-saving care receive it promptly. Patient care is very important to us and during your visit, we were tending to several critical emergencies. We apologize for any wait time you experienced while we were providing care to other patients. If you'd like to discuss further, please reach out to us.
Negative experience: We were travelling on the 400 hwy near Barrie on Father's Day. We were on a trip from Newfoundland. Our cat Oscar had a stroke We rushed him to the clinic. Sadly We had to have Him put to sleep. We were trying to come to terms with this sudden tragedy. As We were saying goodbye to Our beloved Oscar the assistant starts up with wanting to get the paperwork/payment out of the way. I thought it a bit heartless. It was well over $1,000 for pain medication, putting him to sleep & cremation. A little more compassion would have been much appreciated. We still mourn the loss of Oscar. Lisa Marot
Thank you for sharing your experience, Lisa. We're truly sorry for the loss of your beloved Oscar. Losing a pet, especially so suddenly while far from home, is an incredibly difficult experience. We understand how important it is to feel supported with empathy and care during such moments.
While it's standard procedure at most veterinary hospitals to complete paperwork during the visit, especially in emergency situations, we recognize that the timing may have felt impersonal during such an emotional time. Please know this was never our intention and we sincerely apologize if we came across as anything less than compassionate. Your feedback is a heartfelt reminder of the importance of sensitivity and we will be sharing it with our team to help us do better. Our deepest condolences again to you and your family.
Positive experience: I would give a better review however I have been waiting for 7 hrs. Still counting to see a vet. I've watched other animals less critical see a vet before my fur baby. Im concerned now that because of how long this wait has been that my fur babies electrolytes are even worse or shes turning septic. she's literally vomiting blood and having bloody stools. Do better with triage please.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and we're truly sorry for any inconvenience you faced due to the long wait at our emergency hospital.
Fantastic experience: Our 10 year old German Sheppard wasnt doing well. We drove to Huriona as it was a Saturday there are no emergency clinics locally. The receptionist was very tentative and noticed our dogs breathing was irregular. Promptly had a tech come out and he was immediately taken into the back. Once we were escorted back into the room we were informed the outcome wouldn't be good and after some testing determined the best course of action was euthanasia. We were devastated and the wait was long but we got answers and they were good to explain everything to us. It was very hard to say goodbye to our fur baby but I am greatful for the care we recieved and willingness to provide answers and explain everything to us before making a decision.
We truly appreciate you sharing your experience with us. We understand that saying goodbye to a cherished pet is an incredibly emotional and challenging moment. Our utmost priority is to provide compassionate care during these difficult times. Your feedback means a lot to us and we're here to support you whenever you need us.
Fantastic experience: While vacationing in Muskoka this past weekend, our dog got a bad case of swimmers tail and was in a lot of pain. We brought her in early Saturday morning and were very happy with how quickly we were seen. In less then 45 minutes we were in and out and on our way with meds to help our girl feel better and enjoy the r3st of our vacatiom. From the front desk, to triage, to the vetrinarian... Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The facilities were also very clean.
Thanks for the kind words, Crystal! It's our mission to ensure that all clients and furry friends are provided high-quality care. We appreciate your recommendation. ⭐️
Fantastic experience: My cat henry swallowed fishing line, it was not pulling out smoothly which alarmed us that it could be stuck on something. My panicked initial phone call was met with nothing but help and kindness. The tech taking vitals was extremely kind and gentle, the lead tech took henry away and came back with a happy cat and fishing line in hand. They clearly made an attempt to remove the line (with a little more force than I would be comfortable doing myself) before subjecting henry to an x-ray and us waiting longer/costing more. Options were given to us with excellent reasoning behind each, and clear instructions given. They charged us nothing at the end of this. I was stunned, truly an amazing place with fantastic staff.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Payton! We strive to provide compassionate and professional care and it’s rewarding to know that our efforts made a positive impact.
Negative experience: Please read the other 1 star reviews* DO NOT GO HERE* As we had a very similar experience with our 14 month old pup. I do not recommend this clinic if your animal is in a serious condition. Our dog was triaged incorrectly on our first attempt at coming to the vet. And we trusted her very sure assessment. We came back again in the morning and finally a serious diagnosis was confirmed as I suspected. We were waiting for 15 hours under the impression our dog was “stable” until she suddenly was not. Within 10 minutes we had to put her down. They were happy to come in with the debit machine right away. And after such a horrific ending they never even called us to follow up to see how we are. Note as well I am 5 months pregnant. This was definitely preventable but due to the lack of consistent care, several mistakes and wait time with out any clear instructions we lost her in the split of minutes while under the impression she was “stable”. I am a health care provider and in reviewing my dogs documents there was one set of vitals completed, they never took her out of the crate to assess her, it was all around a very traumatic experience. We were completely misguided. I have tried several attempts to contact management and they will not email me back.
We’re truly sorry to hear about the loss of your pup and the distressing experience you described. Losing a pet is never easy and we understand how difficult and emotional it must have been, especially given the circumstances. We can only imagine how frustrating and painful this situation has been for you and your family.
Please know that your concerns are taken seriously. We’ve shared this feedback with our management team.
Negative experience: Disgusting practice. These people literally killed my cat. Brought my male cat in for suspected UTI, they said they found nothing to support it and cleared out a mucus blockage and sent us on our way. Came back the next day because he was still showing signs of straining in his litter box, so we figured it might be constipation which would cause a mucus blockage if severe enough, and they then showed us his x-rays taken the day before that showed he was indeed very constipated, which was not brought up to us at all in the previous appointment. We were then told he would pass it at home on his own and sent us on our way. He did not pass it so brought him back a third time. Requested an enema but they insisted on doing another x-ray to confirm, meaning that they insisted on putting my cat under a lot of anesthesia twice within 48 hours. I tried to tell them no but was met with an argument by the very rude vet tech about it. So they did the x-ray, with the same exact results as confirmed previously, and they then went through with the enema but kept trying to sell me on a $4k procedure for a urinary tract issue he did not have, as i specified multiple times he wasn’t having trouble peeing. Which they confirmed while he was under the second time as he cleared his blatter no problem. Brought my cat home only to find the next day his back legs were extremely stiffened and he was unable to hold his pee in at all so he kept peeing himself in his sleep. Brought him into our regular vet once they were open, they confirmed that the high amount of anesthesia back-to-back did indeed put too much strain on his organs and joints, leading him to now experiencing kidney failure and partial paralysis, now I have to put my cat down after spending nearly $3k here with little to no answers about his condition. When he could have had an enema the first day and probably would have been fine had they said anything to us. But no, they know you’ll have to come back and spend even more money if they choose to leave out those details. Nice to see the excess of money you charge people is going towards marble countertops and solid wood panelling in your wait room though! This company clearly only cares about the money they make and not about their patients whatsoever. Owners know their pets better than any vet does, start listening to your clients better, maybe then more lives can be saved.
We’re very sorry to hear about the loss of your cat and the difficult experience you’ve had. We understand how heartbreaking and frustrating this must be, especially when you were trying to do everything you could to help him feel better. Losing a pet under such circumstances is incredibly painful and we extend our sincere condolences to you and your family.
Please know that we take this kind of feedback seriously. If you’re open to it, we encourage you to reach out to our team directly so we can look into this further and follow up with you.
Negative experience: We spent alot of money on Oreo. He was given medication and went downhill since Wednesday and he passed this afternoon and when we called this afternoon your staff was not sympathetic. How can a healthy big cat go from being strong to being weak in a matter of days? We advise the clinic that he got into something. All they said do you want him cremated. Not too sure why the blood tests that were done and ultra sound couldn't detect if our cat was poisoned. Oreo was only 13 and was a big healthy cat
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Dean, and we are so sorry to hear about Oreo’s passing. Sudden changes in a pet’s health can be incredibly distressing, especially when there are so many unknowns involved.
We understand how upsetting it must have been to feel unsupported during such a difficult moment. While our team aims to provide comfort and care in every situation, conversations around end-of-life can sometimes feel clinical when emotions are running high. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to speak further.
Positive experience: Overall it’s a nice animal hospital. Clean. Has tea/coffee and a nice bathroom. Decent waiting room. It was the closest emergency clinic from my town (still a 2 hour drive.) I stayed in the hotel next to it and waited there for a couple nights. Someone on the phone told me they’d call before the procedure. Was also told there may be a problem with anesthesia due to a heart murmur. I stayed up with the ringer on with the phone in my hand. Didn’t get a call. Fell asleep for a few hours and still nothing. Went to visit and apparently my baby already had the surgery. Very happy with the results; had something gone wrong and I didn’t get to say goodbye one last time, would have been very very upset. My cat recovered quickly and easily.
Thank you for your review, Emma. We’re glad to hear your cat’s surgery went well and that they recovered quickly, as that’s always our hope for every patient in our care.
We also understand how important clear communication is, especially during stressful moments like surgery. We’re sorry for the missed call and any worry it may have caused. Your feedback is appreciated and we’ll be sure to review this internally to help improve our communication going forward. If you ever have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Negative experience: I came here last night just after 8:30pm because my dog had a sizable gash on her head that was bleeding and needed stitches. The lobby was nice, the building was nice, there was plenty of parking and the front desk staff was also nice. We waited to be seen until about 5:00am and were given no heads up that we would be waiting all night, every time we asked for an update, we were told we were next or there was 1 pet ahead of ours. One of the staff said this wasn't even a busy night for them. There aren't a lot of options for emergency vet services in this area and I believe the next nearest one was 40+ minutes away so obviously they just operate understaffed. Once we were seen we were out of there in less than an hour but we had spent 9 hours at the vet to get some staples for my dog. The exam room we were in smelled bad, it was musty and smelled like dirty mop water. The vet herself was very nice and helpful. I paid over $500 for my dogs staples and 3 medications. Pros: Open late, large building, lots of parking, decent location Cons: Expensive, exam rooms were dirty, horribly understaffed, lack of communication between staff and guests, I had no idea the wait would be that long and my dog was in discomfort the entire time, with a bleeding open wound. I understand the triage system and how cases deemed more urgently in need of intervention take precedent over my dog but, I was there for 9 hours and there own staff stated this was a slow night for them. If there was a less-urgent care vet I could take my vet to afterhours, I would but this was the only recommendation I was receiving repeatedly so I had no other options, I certainly couldn't let my dog walk around for days with a bleeding open wound on her head. If they are so busy that a 9 hour wait is a slow night, they obviously need to improve their staffing levels. I was late for work the following day. If you can avoid this place, please do so at all cost. If you have to go here, just be prepared for an extremely long wait. If I could give them 0 stars, I would.
Dear Chris, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry for the long wait you and your dog experienced. We understand how difficult that must have been, especially in an emergency situation. Like many veterinary clinics across North America and beyond, we are navigating an ongoing global shortage of veterinary professionals, which can significantly impact wait times even during nights that may not seem busy.
As an emergency clinic, we follow a triage system, where patients are treated in order of medical urgency rather than arrival time. This can result in longer waits for non-life-threatening cases, but we do our best to prioritize each patient’s needs. We appreciate your feedback regarding communication and the condition of the exam room and will be sharing it with our team to ensure we improve where we can. We're glad our veterinarian was helpful, and we hope your dog is recovering well. If you would like to discuss further, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Fantastic experience: Last night, ARGO, our 5year old Alaskan Malamute wanted to play with a porcupine and we made an emergency visit to this wonderful clinic. I can’t say enough great things. Staff were excellent with our anxious boy. His snot and inside his mouth needed attention fast and Debbie, Faith and Dr. McKee fixed him up. Thank you all for the care and compassion you gave Argo and us… and it didn’t break the bank, it was 400$ cheaper than they quoted, and way cheaper than I expected. So BIG thank yous all round.
Thank you for the glowing review, Susan! We know your pets are family, so going above and beyond for you is our top priority. We're grateful you took a moment to share your great experience with us. It keeps us motivated!
Fantastic experience: Saturday night was a very difficult time for us, we brought Jack in for Quality of Life care. From the moment we entered to the moment we left, we were treated with such kindness and consideration. Thank you so very much, you touched our hearts through the worst of times.
We sincerely appreciate you for sharing your thoughts, Cheryl. Saying farewell to our beloved pets is never easy. We feel privileged to have a team of dedicated professionals who offer compassionate care to make this challenging journey a bit more manageable. Should you ever have any questions in the future, please feel free to reach out to us anytime.
Negative experience: Put my dog down this weekend. They told me I had 48 hours to choose what I wanted done with him. Provided me a website to make my choices. Website wouldn’t work. I called and reported that. They told me I made decision while I was there. Which is not true all they had me do was pay and hand me the information about making my choices to take home. My dog has been cremated before being able to get his paw prints like I’ve done with all my other dogs. Extremely disappointed in them for this.
Hi Ryan, we’re truly sorry for your loss and understand how upsetting this experience must have been. Losing a beloved pet is incredibly difficult and we regret that your final moments with your dog were met with additional stress. Our goal is always to support families with care and compassion during these sensitive times.
We do our best to clearly explain aftercare options and timelines and we apologize if there was any miscommunication or if the website link caused further confusion. It’s never our intention for anyone to feel rushed or unheard, especially in such an emotional moment. If you’d like to speak with our team directly, we’d be more than willing to revisit this with you and offer our support however we can.
Negative experience: Absolutely horrible service. Thought my poor Chi was having a Stroke and the person who answered the phone completely brushed me off! Her exact words “well if you think it’s important enough, you can bring him in, but you’ll be waiting a very long time to see a doctor” I ended up making the drive up to the Emergency Vet clinic in Collingwood and they were absolutely amazing. Never will I call Huronia veterinary services again as this is the second time they brushed me off for a critical medical issue.
Hi Kelly, we’re sorry to hear about your experience and hope your little one is doing much better now. We understand how frightening it can be when your pet appears to be in distress and we're truly sorry you felt dismissed when reaching out to us.
While we aim to accommodate urgent cases as best we can, there are times when our doctors are at full capacity and we may need to prepare clients for extended wait times. This is never intended to minimize the seriousness of your concern and we regret if our communication came across as anything less than supportive. We appreciate your feedback and we’ll be sure to review this internally to ensure we’re responding to critical situations with both clarity and compassion. If you would like to discuss further, please reach out.
Fantastic experience: Huronia Vet Hospital was amazing! Quick, efficient and organized! I took my dog in on a long weekend for a very minor ailment, twisted/broken dew claw. They fixed her up fast and got us on our way for no charge! Absolutely amazing!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Nicola! We strive to provide compassionate and professional care and it’s rewarding to know that our efforts made a positive impact.
Fantastic experience: Weeknight run from Owen Sound to the Barrie Ontario emergency clinic when my dog ate a whole lot of toxic Black Locust tree bark in my backyard. All of the staff were so warm, supportive and helpful in taking care of her during her stay. They spent a lot of time working with poison control to ensure correct treatment. I am so grateful for all of these hard-working professionals and everything they did. (My dog’s home recovering now. So far, so good.)
Reviews like this remind us why we love what we do, Lynda. Providing excellent veterinary care is our top priority, so we appreciate you recognizing our efforts.
Fantastic experience: A Heartfelt Thank You to Huronia Veterinary Hospital.❤❤❤ Dear Huronia Veterinary Hospital Team! I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to the exceptional care and compassion you showed today in this difficult moment in my life- saying goodbye to my beloved Westy. Your professionalism, gentleness, and empathy meant more than words can express. You treated us with such dignity and kindness. Your support helped to ease the pain of this day, and I will always remember how respectfully you handled every detail. Thank you for making last moments peaceful and surrounded by care. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Marina
We genuinely appreciate your thoughtful words. It's comforting for us to hear that we could provide solace to your family during this difficult time. Please remember that you are not alone in your grief.
Fantastic experience: They take such amazing care to every fur baby that comes through their doors- even before you even get there! I was unsure if my cat needed emergency care or not, I called 3 times within 12 hours with updates on his condition until they advised me to come to the clinic. I appreciated their willingness to answer my questions, give advice and help me care for my baby without charging me anything when they could have by simply saying “come in” on my first call. Once his condition changed and I was advised to come in, he was treated with so much care and respect. We spent 5 hours there and my heart went out to every pet parent that came through those doors having a worse day than mine, I watched and listened to the staff take such great care of every single one of them. Around hour 3 when my cat was getting restless and started meowing, unsure of what his needs were in the moment, they gave us a room with a pee pad for vomit and a clean litter box incase he needed it. My guy sure appreciated the care and time they took with helping him and allowing him a space until we were seen They are so informative and reasonable with their treatment plans, giving you every option and their potential outcomes to help you make the best decision for your fur baby. If you made it this far, Rocky and I appreciate their love, care and attention!! Thank you dr. Krizmanich!
Hi Grace, thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a thoughtful review! As fellow pet owners, we know how important it is to find a veterinarian you can trust with your furry family members. We strive to provide compassionate, high-quality care to all of our patients, so it means the world to hear we exceeded your expectations. Thanks again for the kind words - they really made our day!
Fantastic experience: We've had great experiences both times we've brought our dog to the clinic. The staff are kind and compassionate, and the care is very good. The emergency nature of the clinic means there can be a lot of emotion in the waiting room, but the staff always handle it with grace.
Hi Charlie, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We know how important your pet is to you because we are owners ourselves and huge animal enthusiasts. We love what we do and reviews like this truly make our day! Thanks again!
Fantastic experience: We brought our beloved 19 year old cat here during a medical emergency and the staff brought him back immediately to run tests and examine him. Unfortunately due to existing health issues we had to say goodbye to him that day but the compassion and professionalism from the entire team was top notch. To anyone who is upset or concerned about the wait times, please know that when you aren’t the one being seen immediately. It means that your pet is stable enough to wait, please be mindful of that and stay grateful.
We truly appreciate you sharing your experience with us, Stephanie. We understand that saying goodbye to a cherished pet is an incredibly emotional and challenging moment. Our utmost priority is to provide compassionate care during these difficult times. Your feedback means a lot to us and we're here to support you whenever you need us.
Negative experience: My sweet dog Jack suddenly passed away April 6, on a Sunday where all that was open was the Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic, therefore we brought him there to be sent out for cremation. The staff was so nice, that received his body. I filled out some paperwork and was told to check my email for an update from Gateway Cremation. I decided to call Huronia Vet Emergency Clinic on the following Tuesday when I hadn't received an email. The receptionist who answered the phone said it was mistakenly sent to the wrong email, that at this point she was unable to resend it to my email, and that I should call there 1800 number, as she stated there was a cut off for me to give them my final wishes for Jack, that was that night. When I called, Gateway Cremation, they were closed, therefore I called the Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic back and the receptionist made me feel like I was bothering her, spoke with zero compassion or empathy. I became upset, and started to cry. Finally the receptionist says she will reach out to them on my behalf, and I was asking why she couldn't have done that from the beginning? This Clinic charged us double the price for his Cremation and then sends my personal information to the wrong email address, and then the receptionist shows no compassion or empathy. I just lost my best friend of 13 years, have never had to go through this process before and am dealing with unimaginable pain. I do not normally write reviews, however I wanted to express my overall disappointment with this facility. I asked Gateway moving forward to send Jack's remains to my Veterinary, rather than them so I don't have to deal with them further. Lee-Anne
Dear Lee-Anne, We are deeply sorry for your loss and truly understand how difficult this time has been for you. Losing a pet is never easy, especially after such a long and loving relationship. Our team strives to offer compassion and support and we sincerely regret that we did not meet your expectations during such a sensitive time.
We apologize for the miscommunication and the lack of empathy you felt during your interactions with us. This is certainly not the experience we aim to provide and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention. If there’s anything we can do to further assist, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We wish you peace and comfort as you navigate this heartbreaking loss.
Negative experience: They should be ashamed, they take advantage of people and their pets in a time of need! Weather its because their regular vet is closed or it's the middle of the night, they jack up the price! I get that the price should go up because of that but my guy got a needle , some blood work and some antibiotic's maybe a couple of hundred dollars. That mean's the total of about 20 minutes they spent with us cost me over $800 for their time. Sham on them!!!!
Hi Glen, We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with your recent visit. Our priority is always the health and well-being of pets, and we understand your concerns. We aim to provide transparent communication about treatment options and associated costs, and we regret any confusion or miscommunication that may have occurred during your visit.
It's important to note that as an emergency hospital, our prices may be higher due to the specialized nature of our services. Additionally, we offer advanced procedures, which may not be available at all veterinary clinics. Our team takes each case seriously and strives to offer the best possible care based on the information available at the time. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to improve our services. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us directly.
Fantastic experience: We brought our old gal Bailey in with a neuro emergency. The entire team was amazing. Caring and Compassionate. I don’t recall the other team members names, but from the second we carried our baby in, until the time we left they professional, and kind. Dr. Trish got down on the floor with Bailey and performed her examination at the level Bailey was comfortable at. She explained everything with such a level thoroughness, and sent us home with literature to read on what had occurred. The vet tech doubled up on next steps incase we missed what Dr. Trish had advised us of. Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are thankful for your team. Baxter is happy to have his Big Sister home and is keeping his eye on her. Laying close by while she rests. ❤️
We never take positive feedback like this for granted, Sally. Exceeding clients' expectations is what motivates us. Knowing we did that for you will inspire our team to keep raising the bar! Thank you! ⭐️
Negative experience: Receptionist and vet tech were great and kind but I'm very disappointed that I wasted $230 and 4 hours to have my dog seen but not examined or touched by the vet. Wouldn't write me the referral I needed for my dog and had me on a wild goose chase calling around because he told me I didn't need one when every specialist needs one to see my dog. Had to spend another $150 to have him seen by a different vet for a referral. Not happy with the service here and I strongly feel like the money I spent was not worth it.
Thank you for your feedback, S. We’re sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. We understand how frustrating it must have been to feel like you weren’t provided with the support you needed, especially when seeking timely care for your dog. Referrals can sometimes depend on the requirements of individual specialists and we apologize if there was any miscommunication or confusion. We’re always working to improve clarity and service, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. If you’d like to speak with us further about your visit, we’d be happy to connect directly to help clarify what happened.
Fantastic experience: I want to send our thanks to all the staff and veterinarians giving the best care to Sam I am in the past few days. The companion and care u gave him . He is in a better place now. We miss him dearly. U did everything possible and we thank u for that .
Thank you for your kind words, Taina. You have our heartfelt condolences. We know how stressful that situation can be and are glad that our team could make it a little easier for you. We sincerely appreciate your feedback. If you have any future questions, please feel free to give us a call.
Fantastic experience: Extremely grateful for the amazing team at Huronia emerg clinic. They took great care of my furball sawyer. He developed kidney issues and our regular vet transferred his care to the team at Huronia, and he stayed three nights under the team’s care. He was discharged today and as you can tell by the photo he is happy and healthy, and fingers crossed he will continue to stay that way! Thank you again for everything you do, you’re work is so important and appreciated by myself and fellow pet parents
Wow, thank you for the amazing review, Jenn! We know your pets are like family so we work hard to treat each patient with the same love and care we would give our own. Hearing we succeeded in doing that for you is the best compliment. We're so grateful you took the time to share your experience. ⭐️
Negative experience: I couldn't believe how this doctor was thinking all about the money she didn't care once she knew that if I went home with my dog who had seizures that she was going to die at home she knew it. my dog had 48 seizures in 2 days and they weren't going to help because of a $200 difference that's disgusting you took an oath to help and heal and protect animals but money is more important I will never recommend anyone to this place you should be ashamed of yourself disgusting $500 was going to be put down $500 was going to be paid in 2 days but the $200 that she's complaining about was to have an IV in my dog while she was getting an IV for medication so that my dog would be hydrated while she was getting her medication she knew how important that was for my dog but for $200 she wouldn't do it because I can only afford $500 not 700 disgusting human I hope you don't do this to another dog this place has a 3.8 rating this is why they only care about money March 18th 2025 my frenchie Nayla. Died U could of saved her .
Dear Mark, We are truly sorry for the loss of Nayla and understand how heartbreaking this experience must have been. Losing a beloved pet is never easy, and our hearts go out to you during this incredibly difficult time.
We want to clarify that our team made every effort to provide care options within your means and to find a treatment plan that could work financially.
It’s also important to note that we do not tolerate verbal abuse or aggressive behavior toward our team members. Our staff are here to help and deserve to work in an environment where they feel safe and respected, especially when they are doing their best to support pet families in distressing situations.
We know that emotions run high during emergencies, especially when facing difficult medical and financial decisions. While we regret that we were unable to meet your expectations, we stand by the professionalism and compassion shown by our team during this case.
Fantastic experience: As with any emergency place, I know the wait can be long… I know that sometimes when the volume is high and you may be re-routed. However, these beautiful humans working at this location has provided amazing care to my animals during their times of need and I truly appreciate them.
Thank you for the glowing review, Luna! We know your pets are family, so going above and beyond for you is our top priority. We're grateful you took a moment to share your great experience with us. It keeps us motivated!
Fantastic experience: Really great experience, considering they are an emergency clinic, which means usually very high stress with your fur babies. Everybody was so welcoming and helpful and understanding they made me feel Very comfortable from greeting me at the door to Interacting with the vet tech to seeing the Vet to even cashing out. They recommended against spending money they didn’t think I needed to, which was a surprise as most vets, try to make as much money from you as they can. They gave me a lot of information to help him when I got home and all of the information I needed if he got worse so I was prepared. They have amazing plans in place for revisits and check ups and follow ups, which made me feel Comfortable and confident in the visit and going home. Everybody was so kind and loving to my puppy. Hopefully i never have to go back, but if i do i feel more confident in my pets care.
Thank you so much for the kind review, Amanda! We understand how stressful it can be having a member of your family in the hospital. We are glad we could make it a little easier for you. Give your pup a pat from us!
