Aldergrove Animal Clinic

Fantastic experience: Aldergrove and their staff are amazing. My dog Baba is blind since birth and is normally very nervous in public places and going inside buildings. He has been coming to Aldergrove since he was 6 weeks old and remembers all the staff that cared for him even years later. This past Friday he went in for his annual check up, heartworm testing and vaccines and was social and curious with everyone. He is always given so much from everyone in terms of attention, love, consideration, and Katrina and Dr Adams took their time with Baba and he did amazing. I love this clinic and have only good things to say!

Fantastic experience: We are so pleased with the all around care that are little fur babies receive from all of the Doctor's and staff. A big thank you to Dr. Mitchell and Amanda for all their wonderful care that Coco received. Her teeth are now pearly white and she has recovered remarkably. Negative experience: Sad really - such great doctors here but the abusive… not okay. Extremely unprofessional behavior from the clinic owner. Dr Cornell I was verbally berated over the phone, threatened with Animal Control, accused of theft over a borrowed charger, and spoken to in a way that was emotionally harmful and inappropriate. My grief over a previous pet was mocked after I asked that it not be brought up again I was seeking medical care responsibly for my kitten and instead felt intimidated, shamed, and pressured. The mediation is to be given orally and my cat will not take it. My options are : Force it, or bring him to the clinic everyday at the same time, because i was at work and couldn’t answer if I could bring him in, she said she was calling animal welfare…. I couldn’t believe it. I work everyday and to find the time to get there everyday is a lot of pressure. I figured there must be another alternative, a different medicine? Mixing it in the food? Nope there’s nothing. 2 options ( force it or bring him in so we can do it… but yet I called another animal clinic and they don’t use those products they use different ones and have options… so now after spending 400 on exam and medications they will go to waste and I have to try another alternative. Not sure how that makes me neglectful. But that’s what she implied. She is very abusive, I have audio recordings of these calls. I cannot recommend this clinic to anyone who values respectful, compassionate care I have also reported this clinic , I have enough evidence of severe abuse. Sad. Real sad. Used to love this place.

Negative experience: Worst experience of my entire life. Where do I begin? To start, one of the receptionists always spoke to me as if I was a child, very condescending and rude. Next, one of the owners was actually CRUEL to me. So callous, you would not believe what she did! If anyone would like to know my story, please respond, and I will give you my contact, as I have been directly threatened in an e-mail, by one of the owners that they will SUE ME FOR SLANDER if I tell this story! !!! And that is not even the worst part of it. I am actually very surprised to see mostly good reviews here, as every person I speak to who has taken their animal to Aldergrove, has felt the same awful experience. Rudeness, no compassion, overpriced, not responsible, poor communication. Every time I took my dog here, he ended up in a bad way after. I wish I trusted my gut, gave up on them, and took the time to find a better Vet. But I didn't, and the last visit was as bad as anyone could possibly imagine. I took my happy, energetic, healthy baby to have his TEETH CLEANED, and it resulted in his death. I lost the most important being in my life because of trusting "the professionals".

Fantastic experience: Dr. Cornell expertise is unmatched - she is an exceptional veterinarian. I trust and respect her and I am grateful that I have such a skilled and compassionate doctor to care for my pets.

Fantastic experience: We are so grateful to be able to take our dog, Jackson, to Aldergrove. He has a very unique personality and they have been able to manage his quirks and needs so well and so patiently. He loves coming here!

Fantastic experience: When my dog developed pain in his back leg, I was able to be seen quickly at Aldergrove Clinic. Dr Cornell explained each step of Max’s examination, tests were completed and treatment plan options were discussed that same day. Dr. Cornell reviewed benefits and concerns with each plan making it easier to make informed decisions. When my spouse was unable to attend the initial appointment, Dr. Cornell answered questions days later, allowing him better understanding with a phone call.

Fantastic experience: Their quick actions after my dog ingested poison saved his life. Literally!! I cannot thank them enough.

Fantastic experience: Aldergrove is a wonderful Vetrinary Clinic. For 19 years we have taken our golden retrievers here. Knowledgeable, friendly and compassionate the staff here treat you and your pets like family. Dr. Virginia and Manager Amanda are the best!

Fantastic experience: My puppy was referred here from Emergency Vet for a procedure that wasn’t able to be done at the Emergency Vet. Aldergrove Animal Clinic was absolutely amazing!! They helped my fur baby and treated her like a Princess! She was well looked after and the procedure was completed successfully. Every staff member, volunteer included, were so wonderfully warm, caring, understanding, supportive… I can honestly say I was 100% comfortable leaving my fur baby with them. Fantastic experience: A wonderful clinic that has taken great care of our dog Dooley for 15 years

Negative experience: I went to Aldergrove Animal Clinic in October 2025 for a senior dog exam and was charged over $640 in total. The urine test showed possible contamination, yet I was told to pay again: either $174+ for a urine culture or $61+ for an antibiotic trial. After spending so much, I received no clear diagnosis. I also received what was described as “dietary advice,” which was simply the name of one commercial dog food brand and a partner store website. When I raised my concerns, Dr. Cornell replied with an unprofessional tone, even saying “Shame on you” in an email. After I left this review, the clinic emailed me again accusing me of defamation and claiming to have video recordings of my visit. I also have emails and invoices showing what I was told and charged. I reached out seeking a fair and respectful resolution, but the clinic did not acknowledge any issue with the lack of pricing clarity. This entire review is based on my personal experience and documented communication.

Fantastic experience: Oct 2025 I want to give a huge shoutout to Dr. Adam - he is amazing!!! One of the most down to earth vets I have encountered since Dr. Hibbs left a few years back- I specifically will only see him because he caring, non judgemental, extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain in detail your concerns. He also isn’t about sending off for extra unnecessary tests etc. I truly appreciate that! Best vet hands down! 2019 Dec This is a wonderful vet clinic that actually cares. My beautiful girl loved going here! Staff is amazing, I highly recommend. Will be taking future pups here as our girl just passed. Dr. Hibbs came to our home and made the experience as peaceful as possible. THANK YOU!

Fantastic experience: When I had to put down my 21 year old cat they were there for us. Really caring people. I just adopted a 16 year old cat from asphalt in Barrie and have full intentions of bringing her here for check ups. Warm and loving.

Negative experience: First off if i could give no stars that sould be my choice! These people have no compassion. They are BEYOND rude, all they care about is money, they will take you for every dollar they can. Just speaking to them about how you feel nicely and calmly about how you’re being treated, they will maliciously threaten not to transfer your file to another vet and if you Miss an appointment because of medical circumstances they will give you absolutely no mercy and threaten to send your file to collections unless you pay that day ($56) They are extremely overpriced to any other vet. Their mannorism and customer service is so bad they brought me to tears!! They laugh at people with disabilities and look at you like your from another planet. Do not go to this vet at any cost there are so many other veterinarians that will put your animal first, and not charge you your bank account. If you want your animal cared for, and you dont want to be sucked dry any chance they get or you dont want to feel completely discriminated i suggest not going to this vet. Its too bad because they do have a couple of very nice caring vets and vet techs on their staff that some of these ladies, unfortunately have to ruin it for

Fantastic experience: This was our first visit to the Clinic and it exceeded our expectations. We felt welcome and Fitz was comfortable. All staff were caring and professional. Customer service was top notch! We are pleased to be part of the Aldergrove family!

Fantastic experience: We recently had an incredible experience at Aldergrove during one of the hardest times in our lives. Our beloved dog Kaine, who was approaching 11 years old, suddenly stopped eating and just wasn’t himself. We brought him to Aldergrove, and after some quick and thorough testing, they discovered he had a large tumour on his pancreas. Unfortunately, due to his age and condition, treatment wasn’t an option. Dr. Adam, Megan and the staff went above and beyond for us, from staying after hours to wait on results, to showing incredible compassion and care every step of the way. The way they treated Kaine and supported us was unlike anything we’ve ever experienced at a vet clinic. When we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put Kaine to rest so he wouldn’t suffer, the care and kindness they gave to both him and us made a devastating day a little more bearable. We will be forever grateful for the way they honoured Kaine and supported our family. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

Fantastic experience: I have brought my dogs to Aldergrove Animal Clinic for 10 years. Within that time I have had nothing but great experiences with the Drs. and all of their staff. Everyone there treats my dog with genuine love and care. Combined with their medical expertise, those are just 2 reasons that I trust Aldergrove 100% to take care of all of my dog's health needs. They feel like family to me!

Fantastic experience: My son has dogs one had a bowel obstruction. They did everything on the Oakley. They were successful. This not the end of the story they help my son through this and my son's dog has help him through a life of struggles. Fantastic experience: Aldergrove has always put my dogs needs ahead of anything else. The staff are very patient and understanding, not to mention very compassionate when putting our fur baby down. It's been almost 5 years now, and can't imagine another vet.

Fantastic experience: Always a good time coming to Aldergrove. Every staff member I have met is kind and clearly they all love what they do. They clearly have each animals best interest at heart, and it shows as they interact with you and your pet. They take the time to explain what they’re doing as they go, and give ample opportunity to ask questions so you feel secure having your pet in their care. I will continue coming to Aldergrove as long as I have pets! Dr Adam also remembered Goose, when we’d only seen him one other time a year ago which really impressed me. 1110000/10 would recommend

Fantastic experience: We were away on vacation with our dog in Nova Scotia and he got a scratch on his eye. We had him looked at there but needed a recheck when we got home. Dr. Beaton looked over the other clinic's medical record and checked out our dog and made sure that his eye was healing well. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I always look at our vet trips in a much more positive way thanks to Aldergrove. All of the staff there are impeccable, super friendly, hard working, and loving to our fur babies. Even during renovations of the clinic they still manage to operate and stay at their 100%. Thank you very much Aldergrove for looking after Douglas for us every time we visit. Updated review: Aldergrove is still one of a kind, amazing staff that will try their best for you and your pets. Our pet family has grown quite large and Aldergrove manages to keep up with all of them!

Fantastic experience: We chose this clinic based on the reviews and the fact that it is privately owned. Glad we did as the staff are awesome and compasionite and very patient with our little 3 month old pup. There are clinics closer to us but we will be calling Aldergrove Animal Clinic our little pup's permanent vet!

Fantastic experience: The minute we walked in with our puppy Aldergrove was so welcoming and warm. This clinic is amazing. Our puppy wasn’t scared, everyone was fabulous. Dr Parry made him feel so relaxed and loved as did all the people from Aldergrove

Fantastic experience: The entire staff was very friendly and attentive. They took the time to make our dog feel comfortable in the environment. The Vet was very knowledgeable and caring.

Negative experience: Cat came in for tooth extractions, was blind in one eye within days and ultimately had to be put down within a week. Most likely a puncture from a freezing needle that wasn't necessary given cat was under GA. Emotionally and financially a big hit (they are generally expensive). Take from this what you will.

Fantastic experience: This clinic/hospital is, by far, the best for both care/treatment and compassion. If we had not moved away and were not a 5 hour drive we would be here for sure. There is no better, anywhere.

Fantastic experience: Exceptional customer service by all staff although I must praise amy, amanda and kelly. The patience they all showed with my moose and care they provided to myself and moose while moose was alive. Unfortunately moose took a seizure at 8 p.m. on a Thursday night and I could not wait for Aldergrove to open on the Friday. The only time Amy met moose he hissed at her and she didn’t mind at all (she’s a dog person lol). Kelly treated moose with utmost love and wrapped him like a burrito and moose was fine with her. One time moose was seen at the vets with an injured leg and they couldn’t even get close to to moose. Kelly was a cat whisperer like dr Martin who was at this clinic we followed from another clinic but stayed when he left. Amanda always provided amazing service and all three of them were there to comfort me when I went in after moose passed away. Thank you to all the great staff who ever had an interaction with moose or I. Can’t thank you all enough from moose and myself as well as my mother who would often pick up food or meds. Be included the last picture of moose and I taken after he was put down and one of moose in my arms weeks before at home just resting in my arms like he always did.

Fantastic experience: It can be hard to bring Revi to the vet due to him being special needs and blind, but the staff are always SO amazing and patient with him, that each time gets a little bit easier! Thanks for always being so amazing with my boy!

Fantastic experience: Dr.Meekings and the whole staff at Aldergrove make our annual visits very pleasant. Great attention to detail with regard to my cat’s care and her overall health. No upselling - I’ve heard horror stories from people who use other vets. Aldergrove has a genuine interest in my cat’s wellbeing.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough how amazing these people are. From the vet techs to the veterinarians you can tell they all actually care. After horrible experiences at other vets I brought my dog here, unfortunately in June she was diagnosed with lymphoma. They have been accommodating and supportive the whole way. Such a difference in the care and attention here vs other vet offices.

Fantastic experience: Benji is a three year old healthy standard poodle. However every once in a while he needs medical attention (ear infection, etc.) and the prompt, caring and professional service we get at Aldergrove is excellent.

Fantastic experience: The care and kindness received at Aldergrove is unmatched. I have had all of my pets there since 2016 and it is worth it. Everyone in the office genuinely cares about your pet and you can see when they come around the desk and get down to talk to your pet and make them feel at home. Fantastic experience: We have recently moved to the area and Aldergrove came very highly recommended. We had been with our previous vet for 20 plus years so I was nervous going to someone new. I took 3 dogs in over 2 days for wellness exams and script renewals. Dr. Cornell was simply amazing as were the vet techs. One very happy doggie Momma here. Cas, Jack, and Khloe give it two paws up.

Fantastic experience: My dog LOVES coming here. The building is beautiful inside and out, the staff are wonderful, and very knowledgeable. They don't scare you into spending a ton of money on unnecessary tests!! You can tell they're in it for the animals not the money, which is so important!

The doctor and staff were incredible—truly kind, caring professionals who clearly love what they do. I also appreciated how other vets and assistants came by to cuddle with my kitten, showing him so much affection The clinic is spotless, and the staff are very responsive to messages. Fantastic experience: Wonderful, Loving, Caring and Professional staff! My experience was empathetic and not rushed in any way! I’ve been to many veterinary clinics previously for my late fur-baby and none of them compare or were as patient. Their love for their furry patients shines bright with everything they say and do!!!

Fantastic experience: Today I attended Aldergrove clinic as I found a cat. Asked if I could have someone check for a chip. They ushered me into a room with this poor kitty. They checked, and there was a chip. Honestly I hope everything comes together and we can reunite with the owners. They were awesome

Fantastic experience: Dr Guerreiro is always wonderful. He does a fantastic job explaining medical procedures/terminology/medication and generally anything complicated in an easy to understand way. He is very compassionate about helping our furry friends and it shows through his practice! All of the Veterinary Technicians, Assistants and reception are all fantastic as well!

Fantastic experience: The technicians, vet and front desk staff are all so lovely and seem to genuinely care about the animals in their care. Love that we have found this clinic, it does seem to be slightly on the pricier end but it is well worth it to know that my dog is in good hands.

Fantastic experience: This is an amazing clinic, with a great vibe and amazing staff! Dr.Cornell takes time and is extremely thorough. We have a rescue who isn’t a fan of going to the vet, but Dr. Cornell is so amazing with her! If you’re looking for special people with exceptional care for your fur babies look no further!

Fantastic experience: I have been taking my animals here for over ten years. Just today, brought my one year old cane corso/mastiff and 6 month old German Shepard pups in for their neuter at the same time. Everyone there makes a stressful situation SO much easier and relaxed. The techs and attendants are all fantastic at their jobs and are so kind. Virginia is the only veterinarian we trust and we are thankful for her and her team!

Negative experience: I'm giving 2 star because Feb 22 2024 I took my dog to get his waying for his nexgard witch I do every month and it cost 50 bucks I have got all his shots done here paid tons of money for everything I asked if they could cut his nails and listen I can understand maybe 10 bucks as it took 5 mins but know the lady asked if I could be billed out well I wait witch I new I had bit credit on file from last so it came to 45 bucks I thought okay for nextgard and nails okay so I paid after my dog came out I was told owe I for got to bill the nextgard out that was nother 40 somthing I think I'm going to change vets cause nails should be free for what I have spent so it was 40 somthing for his nails to be cut that's crazy

Fantastic experience: Aldergrove is amazing. When my cat sally past they gave us as much time as we needed with her in a private room. Helped us go through all the options and handled her like a family member. After we received a beautiful card with messages from the staff. I have two more cats now and they are Amazing with them. They work with the animal and the owner. Giving the best options and working with you and your budget.

Fantastic experience: They are an outstanding animal clinic. The care they’ve given to my fur baby and continue to do so has been greatly appreciated. They care about the animals and the parents of these fur babies like it was their own. I would highly recommend this Animal Clinic to anyone

Fantastic experience: Dr Guerreiro is the best vet we have had. We take all 3 of our dogs to see him. One of our dogs (a frenchie) has a bit of an attitude, but Dr Guerreiro works his magic on her every time and wins her over! We had our 10yr old huskey shepard at the emergency clinich because all of the sudden she couldn't walk. Emerge said she was old and sore. Dr Guerreiro took some xrays and recommended us to have an mri. Turns out she had a stroke as Dr. Guerreiro suspected. He got us into a physiotherapy clinic and shes now doing amazing. Highly recommend Aldergrove animal clinic!

Fantastic experience: After trying out many different vet clinics in the Barrie area, we finally found our home at Aldergrove. Dr. Adam has been nothing but compassionate and kind when looking after our pup Myla. They answer all of our questions with patience, and provide after appointment follow up with suggestions and advice. Thank you Dr. Adam and team for the wonderful service!

Fantastic experience: These are the people who take care of my cat, and my cat is healthy and happy. They have a crazy good memory and a great system in place for taking notes and keeping track of details about my cat. I have the highest level of trust in this place and these people, and I will keep entrusting my cat's health to them.

Fantastic experience: Aldergrove Clinic is our choice for the pet care for years. We switched in between for the clinic closer to us, but came back. They are very helpful, they will give you an advice, but they are not pushy.

Fantastic experience: We have two cats and one has Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex . Dr Cornell and all of the staff are always accommodating and available and never make us feel pressured into any decisions. Highly recommend.
