Fantastic experience: Absolutely, hands down, the best vet clinic we have ever used! We live in Campbell River and have to commute, but it's so worth it! Friendly, knowledgeable staff and help when we need it! We have a bearded dragon and a Frenchie, and knowing that we can get the best care for them when needed, is so important. Mahalo has the best exotic vet, JT!

Fantastic experience: Teebo was put on the urgent care list and was seen that afternoon. He was seen immediately as soon as I arrived. The vet was informative, gave treatment options and gentle with my boy. Meds were given and our insurance was processed quickly. He is now on the mend. Thanks. Fantastic experience: I will always have Mahalo team in my heart. My husband and I called in for an emergency and they accepted to see our dog in a couple of hours. They did all the tests and assessed the situation very quickly. It was thanks to that that we had the chance to bring him at home with us and spend a few hours with him, making him feel special. This is the best gift someone can do to people who love their dogs, giving them the time for a proper goodbye. They guided to the most difficult but at the same time the most right decision in our lives and we are truly grateful. Edit: Now, a few months later, we went back with our newly adopted puppy and we were able to share also this moment of joy with Mahalo team. We've been followed by the same doctor and we met another amazing assistant. As usual they are caring and professional and we felt guided to the right choices for the future of our puppy.

Fantastic experience: Mahalo Veterinary Hospital is a wonderful place for pets and their people. Every visit starts with a smile and genuine positivity as every furry friend is warmly greeted as soon as they come in. The exam was thorough, and the doctor took his time explaining everything without ever making me feel rushed. It’s clear that the team truly cares about the well-being of the animals they treat, which makes a big difference as a pet owner. Their popularity can be a bit of a double-edged sword, as appointments tend to book out further in advance than some other clinics, but that’s also a testament to how well they’re regarded. On top of that, they have the best hours in the region, which makes scheduling much easier. Overall, a great veterinary hospital that clearly puts pets first.

I also appreciated the very thorough quick reports and recommendations. I also appreciated no scare tactics about the diagnosis or making my 91 year old Mom/ dog owner feel guily that her dog was overweight! She loved that!! All the staff, the clinic, the vets were all very good on our first 2 visits to this clinic.

Fantastic experience: I had booked an initial appointment for my dog in a couple of weeks, but we had an emergency so ended up coming in earlier. From start to finish there was so much compassion. The price was fair we were seen and treated in a reasonable period of time. I really appreciate the follow up email that was sent with what was discussed as I was in shock. The follow up email describing what was discussed. Also the care from Ash she saw how overwhelmed I was she was very caring.

Fantastic experience: I just started at Mahalo because I couldn't get into the veterinarian that was closer when I was concerned about my cat Jade's, weight loss. They got me in that day and I love that bloodwork is run in-house. The results and call were fast and my Jade's thyroid meds are adjusted and she's already put on some weight and bloodwork in normal. Jade also loved Dr. Cherri. She flopped on her side for pets. Urgent care options and triage. Fast results for bloodwork.

Negative experience: It has taken me some time to post this, but I feel it is important to share our experience. We brought our dog to this clinic in August shortly after moving to the area. We had an appointment scheduled, and upon arrival we were placed in an exam room where we waited for over an hour without being acknowledged by any staff. We had to periodically step out just to get some fresh air. When we finally met with the veterinarian, she was wonderful, kind, professional and very helpful. We scheduled her spay for the following month and were very clear that we did not want the procedure performed if our dog was going into heat. On the day of surgery, we reiterated this concern to the technician, knowing the potential risks involved. I was assured that the surgery would not proceed if she was in heat and that I would be contacted after she was examined. I never received a call and assumed things are going as planned. When I picked her up, nothing was mentioned. The following day, during a follow-up conversation, the front desk attendant asked how our dog was doing. I mentioned she was doing well but was bleeding vaginally. I was then told—very casually—that she was in heat when the surgery was performed. There was no apology, explanation, or acknowledgment of our explicit instructions. When I raised concerns, I was repeatedly dismissed and made to feel as though I was mistaken. I was told that all conversations are recorded and that there was “no mention” of this request. When I asked to review the recording, I was brushed off. I was told I would receive a callback, which never happened, and had to follow up multiple times—only to be met with further dismissal. Since then, I have contacted the clinic a few times for minor matters, and each interaction with the front desk staff has been extremely rude and unprofessional, often making me feel as though I am an inconvenience. While the veterinarian herself was excellent, I no longer trust this clinic with our dog’s care. I have shared our experience with friends and family so they can make informed decisions regarding their pets.

Fantastic experience: I found the staff that greeted me and that did intake were very pleasant and caring. The surgeon's calls to me during and following Izzy's surgery were very much appreciated, and he was very comprehensive in his explanations about what needed to be done and later how things went. Finally, Izzy’s surgery came in less than the estimate!

The employees we have had contact with are amazing and you can tell they love all animals. We recently put down our cat of 12 years (November) and the care we all received was incredible! Fantastic experience: Dr. Myriam and Dr. JT and the rest of the staff of Mahalo Veterinary Hospital have provided care that goes above and beyond. My leopard gecko, Dia, has been a patient of theirs for a year now and every time we take her in for an appointment my partner and I are always impressed by how much everyone cared to help Dia deal with her health challenges. They helped me adjust her enclosure to suit her needs as an aging gecko, and showed kindness and compassion. It's hard to find a good exotic vet, but if you are in need of one, I would not hesitate to recommend Mahalo!

Fantastic experience: Great service and staff. My only dislike is that their exam rooms are like fish bowls, especially after dark, where anyone walking or driving by can look in and see everything. There's also a window in the exam room doors, making your time in the room completely non-private. The continual passing of people and/or vehicles on both sides of the room is upsetting for some pets. I assumed there would be a more private room for euthanasia but there isn't. Update: there are now blinds on the exam room exterior windows, which I appreciate very much. It is now a 5-star hospital and highly recommended. Thank you, Mahalo!

Negative experience: I was very disappointed with my experience at Mahalo Vet. I brought my senior dog, who has a heart condition and a painful lump, and although the staff were polite, the overall approach to his care felt inconsistent and stressful. A main issue was with his heart medication refills. This clinic had previously provided two refills for six months, but during my recent visit I was suddenly told they would only give one refill for three months. After I questioned it, the vet did change it back to six months, but the situation felt inconsistent and confusing. After that, I was told my dog would need a full panel of blood work, even though this type of testing is not typically required for the specific heart medication he is on. It felt like an unnecessary recommendation, especially given his age and current health concerns. I also requested a call from the owner to discuss these issues, but I never received one, which was very disappointing. Because of these experiences, I have moved my dog’s care to another veterinary clinic where the communication and follow-up have been much better. I am sharing this review in hopes that Mahalo Vet improves consistency and communication for other pet owners.

Fantastic experience: My cats and I have been going here for a few years. My cats are generally more relaxed here than other vets. Nice big windows in the exam rooms. We don’t have to wait in the bustling waiting room for very long. I can usually get an appointment that fits my schedule fairly quickly.

With the emergency visits calling them first getting the support I need over the phone helped me feel calm collected and supported my pup when they were not well. The reassurance over the phone from the veterinarian provided me with understanding of the situation and clarity of what I can do before, seeing them. I find all their staff very kind, supportive and knowledgable. I highly recommend this veterinarian clinic for your next pet or your pet right now. They’re great with answering all your questions. They giving you the options and you make the decisions about your fur family member.

Fantastic experience: Had to get our cat in for an emergency check and our regular vet was not available. Saw Dr Cherri Beltran and cannot say enough good things about her. She was very thorough and gave honest advice about our options for Cali's care. Staff was very friendly and it was an overall very positive experience. Fantastic experience: Fantastic care. Our cat needed emergency surgery same day and we felt very fortunate Mahalo was available when our regular vet was booked up for days. Julia was wonderful on the intake phone call and ensured all my worries were heard. Dr. JT saw my cat and was very professional and caring while we were very emotional. Phone call updates during his stay were so appreciated and let us know each step and what was going to happen. Cost fortunately was not a factor for us, but was explained and understood based on the treatment being provided. Discharge was also great. Front desk staff kept things light hearted, and the wonderful vet tech bringing Louie back to us and explaining everything (and even calling the vet and swapping out a pain medication for us last minute!) was so appreciated and we never felt rushed. They called to check in on him after his first night at home. And as a bonus, I even got a call a couple days later when they noticed I was overcharged for an exam and now have a credit on my account! Well done, Mahalo. Very affordable and thorough Veterinary care, and I would recommend and give credit to this team every time. Fantastic experience: If I could give 10 stars, I would. After a scary and emotional evening with our cat that was clearly in distress. Taking him to Mahalo was the best decision we could have made. Dr Bell, and Dr JT were amazing. Both clearly explained everything to us in a way that was compassionate and respectful. Even the ladies at the counter when I dropped him off were so kind and patient with me as I was a complete mess. After a long two days of tears and stress, I’m glad to say Benny is home and on the mend, and I honestly couldn’t be more thankful to the Mahalo team for everything they did for him. Fantastic experience: I really like this clinic as all the staff are amazing. The owners are amazing. everyone is kind and caring towards your animals and towards you too . The veterinary clinic is very clean and bright, which I really like. I just had my cat in to get some dental work done and as everyone knows dental work for animals isn’t cheap, but the Person who was going to do the procedure on my cat called me and said that what was wrong with my cat his teeth they could do the procedure, but the veterinarian felt more comfortable for me to go to Victoria to a veterinarian clinic that specializes in dentist’s work and she said that it might cost me a little more, but it shouldn’t be much and the main thing is is that my cat wouldn’t be under the anaesthetic as long with them as he would be with her because she doesn’t specialize in what is wrong with his teeth And she said she was willing to Dental extractions, but felt it was better for him to go to Victoria. I thought wow a veterinarian clinic that is willing to lose out on making money from me for my cat . That is huge because a lot of clinics , and I’m not saying all of them would probably just do the work and not be as concerned about my pet because they don’t want lose out on the money as we know since Covid, it feels like every business and well, maybe not all but a good really good portion of them are just trying to make back money on what they lost and we’re just being Gouged with the price of everything . So to me, Mohalo veterinarian clinic has proved to me that they are caring and they are good at what they do and they do care about my cat and me so my hats off to them. I give them a score of 1,000,000% and if you’re looking for A really good veterinarian clinic or just want to change who you have now go give them a try And see what you think. I really do like them. This is just an example of how kind and caring they are. I did lost my husband this may to ALS and when I took my cat in to be looked at cat in I ended crying because I was worried about himBecause I was worried about my cat and just said to her, I can’t lose one of my babies right now. she went above and beyond Job duties to sit with me she put her arm around me and just consoled me And literally sat with me for I don’t know how long until I was feeling a bit better. I don’t know too many people that would do that and I just love her. I think she’s fantastic..❤️

Fantastic experience: This has been the BEST VETERINARY experience we have ever had!! Our precious Maincoon cat King Tut had emergency surgery at Central Island Vet on a Saturday and they were great and saved his life! When we brought King Tut home Mahalo was kind enough to take over his care, it’s been two weeks of gruelling ups and downs and the Mahalo Team was extraordinary in every sense!! Dr. Myriam talked to us at night after hours and walked us through the challenges of a infection with such heart centered caring and knowledge and guided us when to return to Mahalo for further appointments and the care needed! They made space for us to come in to see them even though we weren’t a client until now, such an Amazing Team of Vets and Staff who work together like it’s all a natural flow in the midst of such dire situations! When we are greeted at the front entrance right through every appointment we have had, there have been many, everyone is so cheerful and efficient and made us feel so comforted just knowing we were in the best hands possible! The words that describe our highest regard for Dr. Myriam and her remarkable Team in this Locally owned Vet Hospital Clinic could go on and on and on….. we will never take any of our three FurKids anywhere else!! Our Hearts are totally full of the Love and Kindness from Mahalo and they gave us our most Precious Christmas Gift, Our King Tut home and healing! JT, the vet who saw us, was very warm, supportive, informative, logical, nonjudgmental, and frank in his approach to Harley's condition and my handling of it, which was appreciated. We have a clear plan ahead, even though we are dealing with unknown factors at the moment. Both JT and the front end staff communicated and explained things well. Fantastic experience: My experience with Mahalo vet has been exceptional. Not only did they professionally and compassionately help me through the decline and eventual passing of my senior cat, they have also been a wonderful support to my new kitten. The staff at Mahalo are full of kindness, compassion, and have a clear love of animals. I really appreciate how kind and professional the staff at Mahalo vet is. I always feel confident when going to them for my cat's needs.

Fantastic experience: I just had a medical emergency for my cat and went to Mahalo. Aside from the reason we were there, this was the best experience I have had with a vet. They were compassionate and not pushy with over testing, but did provide the options if we wanted to. As this was an emergency visit and we were not previous clients, we had to go on a triage list, I called around 9am and we're in there by 12:30. We needed a follow up appointment due to a change in symptoms, I called the emergency number at 9pm and they had me in for a 9:50am appointment the next morning as it did not seem to be a life or death situation. Again they did not push for more tests but provided options . The care and empathy we received was unbelievable. Every person we encountered there and on the phone were amazing and I sincerely hope this never changes.

Fantastic experience: My pet and I had an excellent experience with the urgent care clinic. Staff were very friendly, and our appt. was punctual. We had test results within half an hour. The clinic was very bright and clean and I felt very comfortable taking my pet there.

Fantastic experience: Xavier LOVES to come to the clinic!< br />He used to be terrified by our old clinic AND emergency vet! < br />Now, He trots in with out a care. He was just in and received 2 shots. He would usually mope around for 2 days and be tender. INSTEAD he's running around the house jumping around super happy.< br />I said to my wife that I am so glad to find a vet that cares about our dog as much as we do especially now he's getting older.< br />We really like the welcoming caring atmosphere vs the corporate sterile $ places.< br />AND they care about OUR costs! Honestly was paying twice as much for a 10th the service elsewhere!< br />Dr. Myriam was so good with him. Fantastic experience: We have been seen by multiple vets and techs at Mahalo now and each one has impressed me with their kindness, compassion and patience towards my fear aggressive dog. I also appreciate the reception staff because they really hear me when I ask them to give him space, not make eye contact with him, etc. the little things make a big difference in helping him (and me!) have a positive experience. The vet office is a scary environment for him but they have been incredibly accommodating and have made the process a lot easier than it ever has been at other clinics. Thank you Mahalo!

Fantastic experience: Dr. JT and all the staff at Mahalo were a dream during a scary emergency with my dog. They stayed open past hours on an already long day to make sure my fur babe was okay. I felt informed, taken care of, not rushed through the process and left feeling confident that my boy was in very caring hands and with a good understanding of all of our options, the diagnosis and at home care. The whole team loved up on my big sweet pitbull and I can't thank you all for your outstanding care and service enough.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been hoping to get into Mahalo Vet for quite some time, and now I understand why they’re so highly spoken of. My cat, Babe, who’s about 18 and dealing with kidney disease and cancer, needed urgent care. From the moment we walked into Mahalo Vet, the entire staff was simply incredible. They took us in on an emergency basis, and even the owner came out to make sure we were being taken care of. They truly went above and beyond, not just during the visit but afterward as well. They called to update me and check on Babe’s condition, showing so much care and kindness. Mahalo Vet has such a calm, welcoming atmosphere, and I’m incredibly grateful for their extraordinary service. They really do live up to their name. They were so gracious, gave us the time we needed, and were incredibly supportive and kind. Fantastic experience: Mahalo was able to get my dog in quickly in an urgent care appointment. The staff helped me carry her out of the car and even cleaned my car after my dog had an accident on the drive there. They offered compassionate care during an extremely difficult time. All staff were kind, understanding, and respectful.

Fantastic experience: We travelled from the North Island in the middle of the night with my daughter's pet rat for emergency care. They performed the surgery he needed, and took amazing care of him. The follow up with us was fantastic as well, and our vet was happy with the thorough reports. Thank you for helping little Grelle, and making a very stressful situation much easier on my kiddo. She's autistic and that little guy is her whole world, I'm so grateful for the phenomenal care we received and pricing was incredibly reasonable.

Fantastic experience: Incredibly thankful for the Mahalo team, but specifically Dr. JT. They are excellent at communicating, thorough, detailed, and very clearly strive to provide gold standard care for all of their patients. Though the result was unfortunately humane euthanasia for my rabbit, I feel confident and comfortable that the decision made was the correct one as Dr. J offered such valuable insight, experience, and educated me on all of my possible options which is something I’ve been able to find peace in. I cannot recommend Dr. J enough, they are a wonderful veterinarian.

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff and incredible customer care. I have never had anyone check in after a spay or neuter or had a complimentary check up a week later. You guys are incredible and I have already raved you to other bunny owners I know. Just thankyou for all you do. Your care is top notch. Your check in calls and complimentary appt after the neuter are above and beyond.

The vet was honest, forthright, and provided great advice and recommendations for how to proceed with care for her injury. Great vibes in the clinic and that meant a lot. The care and attention to meeting Bella's needs and the honesty of staff sets thisclinic apart from others. There was no upsell, just good, honest Veterinary advice to meet my dog's needs. Highly recommend this clinic.

Fantastic experience: Absloutely amazing vets!! Everyone there showed so much compassion and empathy with my boy forest. And wait times? They called me as I was on my way to the hospital saying I might be delayed as they had an emergency situation. Still was seen at my appointment time! My dog has been very sick and trying to figure out what to do I was basically told to put him down by 2 other vets I've been through, multiple times no matter what I said. I was asked once today, and when I said no that was it. No pressure, no pushy attitude. And they truely work together to do what they can for as cheap as they can for your animals. I will never go to another clinic again!

Negative experience: This vet clinic is an American Vet association. Corporate clinic. All they want is your $. They have emergency hours but you have to be in at 8 am they said and pot dog waited ALL day to have an erupted anal gland procedure. I also waited All day from out of town, they gave me no specific time the dog would be looked at or cared for . It wasn’t until the END of day someone attended and we waited almost 9 hours to hear anything . The front desk girls were snooty and almost laughing . My dog had a traumatic day and experience and hasn’t been the same since. She is only 6 and she now “leaks” all the time from her anals . There was NO follow up preventative care etc . I follow at home online holistic care . Not to mention the costs. Their costs are outrageous. My dog had to have dental surgery $5,000.00. I could have flown back to Mexico and taken her to a vet there , had a weeks holiday and back for that amount!!! Also my first appointment was me waiting because the vet was late from “lunch”.

Fantastic experience: Mahalo helped get me an appointment urgently when other vets could not. Excellent receptionists! The vets I saw went out of their way to get my dog the right specialist which prevented surgery, and helped her heal. I love Mahalo for so many reasons. Thank you for your personal care and attention from the moment we step through the door!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely incredibly grateful for the help we received from the staff at Mahalo. My dog Vincee severely injured her chin during a walk, actually detaching it from her face. I immediately called my regular clinic who couldn't see her, so I contacted Mahalo from the trail. Every interaction, from that first phone call, to speaking with the wonderful Doc, and then the tech, was compassionate, warm, and professional. Vincee was handled with care and the surgeon did an absolutely amazing job putting her mouth back together. Thank you, so very much, to all of you at Mahalo, that have stepped up and are there for these emergency situations to help pets and owners like me, in an incredibly stressful situation. Negative experience: My dog was having a clear medical emergency, and when I called and explained the situation, the front desk staff showed no compassion or urgency. The woman I spoke with was dismissive, and made no effort to help us. There was zero empathy for the fact that my pet’s life was in danger. I understand clinics can be busy, but the complete lack of concern or basic kindness was shocking. If you value compassion, professionalism, and the well-being of your pet, I strongly suggest finding another clinic. No animal and no pet owner should be treated this way in a crisis.

Fantastic experience: Always a pleasant experience, regardless of the reason for the visit. We have attended this clinic for regular check-ups, an occasional check-in for a nervous puppy Mama and for one true emergency. Our little guy received the best care every time and his Mama's nerves are always calmed by the way the Team explains the necessary steps. Their follow up after the fact goes a long way too! Caring, smiling and calming staff, clean exam rooms and gentle techs.
