Expérience fantastique: Dr. Marsha Daley at Hometown is truly one of a kind. She was there for us during one of the hardest moments of our lives—when we had to say goodbye to our sweet girl, Daisy. She went above and beyond with compassion, patience, and genuine care, and we will never forget the kindness she showed our family. Dr. Daley is incredibly compassionate, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. I trust her completely with all of my animals and would recommend her 100 percent without hesitation. The receptionist, Rebecca, is an absolute gem—always smiling, welcoming, and so knowledgeable. Every staff member there is wonderful, and you can truly feel how much they care. Thank you for taking such amazing care of all my babies.

Expérience fantastique: This is our regular vet for 3 dogs . I love the fact they have a chat line to answer questions. I used this a few weeks ago for advice on one of my dogs whom had an upset stomach . Gave me a simple plan to use for a few days , unfortunately it only lasted a week . I called on a Monday and they seen my boy that afternoon. He’s back on the mend on some meds.

Expérience fantastique: Dr Lance and Dr Chelsie are THE best! The staff at the front and the techs and assistants are fantastic. I have had nothing but good experiences here. Last week, my dog bandit had a couple days of getting sick and not eating. Hometown got him in the same day i called. They are quick, efficient and very kind. Every single other veterinarian i have had bandit to has always made me muzzle him which made him very anxious of the vet. Dr. Lance immediately won over bandits trust and made the experience so much better for him. I swear that hometown is one of bandits new favourite places. He loves all the staff and is so comfortable being there despite being poked and prodded Dr Lance had been the one to euthanize my cat Boy in June. As heartbreaking as the experience was, he made the process as simple as he possibly could. He gave me all the time I needed to say good bye and then calmly talked me through the process. He showed so much compassion that I appreciated so much. Dr Chelsie and Dr Lance are so compassionate and very good with my animals. I will never take my animals to any other veterinarian.

Expérience négative: This has been my vet for 10 years since my cat was spayed. I use to praise this clinic and all the staff until recently. My cat was sick and I needed a vet to look at her asap, before we even knew what was going on I was quoted $960. I was short on cash and they would not see her , so I called around to other places and I finally found Capital City Animal that told me to bring her in and we will deal with any type of payment later. I got my cat there and unfortunately she passed away before vet got to look at her. Guess where Iam going with this is, if maybe the staff at hometown would of helped me ,then my girl may still be with me and they wouldn't have had to send me a sympathy card.

Expérience fantastique: Adopted a pair of recently-spayed cats from the SPCA. One developed what felt like a hernia at the incision site. I was very concerned and called the SPCA for advice, and they set up an appointment here, which was where the spaying had been done. I barely had to wait at all and they did the examination, including an ultrasound, quickly. I was very impressed by how relaxed Bubs was after they had finished. The issue turned out to be a seroma with an unusual presentation that made it feel like a hernia to an untrained schmuck like me. The specifics of the issue were explained to me and the vet was very good about adapting his explanation to use terms and vocabulary that I understood. Happy to report that the issue was not dangerous, and Bubs is doing well now. The staff was fantastic. I was very anxious for Bubs and they went out of their way to reassure me and checked in with both me and Bubs often. I felt very comfortable and confident with the care my cat was given. I will definitely be returning here for future health issues, and would be very comfortable recommending this clinic to anyone else with a pet in need of care. Expérience négative: They are not my ordinary vet but the on-call vet for the night I had to have an emergency visit. Friendly staff but the misdiagnosis of my dog could have cost him his life! Luckily the next day his normal vet clinic took action , correctly diagnosed him and rushed him to surgery.

Expérience fantastique: It took me two years to write this review — not because I didn’t want to, but because I simply couldn’t. Still, better late than never. Our beloved dog wasn’t a patient of this clinic. He had been diagnosed with an aggressive and untreatable form of cancer. After all possible tests and treatments, we were sent home to wait — to spend the time we had left with him and to return when it became clear that it was time to let him go. When that heartbreaking moment came, our regular clinic had suffered an accident and was unable to help. We reached out to every clinic in town, and Hometown Veterinary Hospital was the ONLY ONE willing to step in. The only one compassionate enough to spare us the heartbreaking, expensive, and clearly unnecessary process of more tests and x-rays — tests we had already done over and over again. At a time when every minute brought our dog more pain, they were kind, understanding, and focused on what truly mattered: easing his suffering and helping us say goodbye with dignity. Dr. Chelsie was incredibly sensitive, supportive, and gentle. I will forever be grateful. This is a clinic where the animals’ well-being comes first — and that makes all the difference.

Expérience positive: *UPDATE: The manager at Hometown vet reached out to me to apologize for the situation. He said he has had conversations about the situation with all the staff involved and that hopefully this would not happen again in the future. It was a matter of lack of communication in house and he took accountability. What was quoted and discussed was not what was booked and the vet had no understanding of our expectations during our visit. I was offered a refund or credit of the difference between what was quoted and what was charged. The matter was settled within a week. Im going to increase the rating from 1 to 4. Clearly a misunderstanding but still disappointing how it was handled at the time. Vet visits are stressful enough without being blindsided and then disregarded. Happy to have it settled. * Great with animals, very friendly staff and explained the health situation well. When it was time to pay the bill was significantly different than what was quoted when booking the appointment. Changed the procedure from sending results off to a lab to in-house without telling us what that meant... found out it meant nearly double the bill! Not impressed. When asked about disparities from the quote and the bill, they then happily explained the price quoted would have gotten us the results in a couple days instead. Why would we want to be the ones to make that call?! Silly me. Why didn't we do what I scheduled when I made the appointment? While I might have been quoted that on the phone they didn't put that in the notes or in the booking and once you're there they don't feel the need to keep you in the loop on treatment options and prices at all. Just stunned smiles and too bad for you vibes after the fact. This is what people mean when they say things like vets overcharge and are after your wallet. Do better Hometown Vet.

Expérience fantastique: Enough simply cannot be said for the quality of services and care provided by the hometown vet team. Each and every call or visit is consistently the same: they listen intently to every concern I may have, then explain their process and what my options may be and ensure I have as much information possible so as to make a truly informed decision on the course of treatment. Never once have I ever felt rushed or dismissed, and certainly never frivolously charged for a service that was just not needed. They genuinely put the pets needs and care first. And god forbid you ever find yourself in an emergency situation and in need of after hours care; when Hometown are the vets on call, the same calm and caring services are there when needed. Why bring your loved pets anywhere else?

Expérience négative: I went for a routine appointment with my dog Rosie. Please note i am ex military and deaf in one ear. The receptionist right off was very annoyed because I couldn't hear what she was saying. Then the cat. I love animals, the cat came over, fine. Licked me....ok....then bit. I said ouch is this a normal thing, she responded when he's grumpy....as if that was ok. Ok whatever.....but then it came back, bit hard and drew blood. From the moment that happened, they made me feel as if I did something wrong. My health is compromised right now, and I have had a previous blood infection from a cat bite, so I wasn't trying to be difficult. However, I was made to feel awful for expressing any concern. What if it bit a child or someone with worse health?

Expérience fantastique: As most people know, small animal vets can be overpriced and scary, but not here. I have 3 dogs and 3 cats and each visit I am left pleasantly surprised at the “free” extras they provide. My cat was spayed yesterday, and a free cone and microchip was provided, no questions asked. Same cat I found feral in April as a kitten and they provided her with two visits for “kitten wellness” and included a free round of flea/tick meds. Normally the upsells are what rack up the bills - they go above and beyond to make this affordable. Their price points are great, the staff is incredible and the place is always spotless and inviting. Not to mention the adorable vet clinic resident cats! Just a great place and we will make the 50 minute drive (past 5 other vet clinics) and be there with our babies, who the staff treat like VIP every single time. Thank you Hometown Vet!!

Expérience négative: A week ago I would have given 5 stars. We have a lot of dogs, so we are frequent visitors to this clinic. There was a misfortune with our puppy (2 months old), he fell and limped badly. We made an appointment, the doctor examined and said that the puppy had a fracture, it was necessary to put a cast. This cast seemed bulky compared to a puppy, but we are not doctors, we must be so. The doctor said that the puppy should move very little (puppy!!). The puppy seemed to feel better, but he simply dragged his plastered leg along with him. A day later, on Saturday, we noticed that the puppy did not get up. We rushed to the clinic. It turned out that his pelvic bone was broken above the plaster cast. The doctor suggested amputation! We were shocked. And then we were offered to pay for an urgent appointment. To our dissatisfaction with the fact that our visit was a consequence of the previous one, the doctor sent us to think with displeasure. Then we received a letter to look for another clinic, which we will do!

Expérience fantastique: We had an emergency reason to visit this weekend, and the response from the staff was outstanding- from the first greeting at the door, to the visit and advise with Dr. Huttges the experience was great. Professional staff that made us and our puppy feel comfortable.

We just became clients of hometown( just moved back to Fredericton) so on this particular morning ofJuly26 we woke up to our dog extremely sick. We called Hometown vet the receptionist said there was nothing that they could do other than book an appointment for two weeks down the road. I asked if they had any emergency procedures in place and she said no, I asked if I could talk to the Vet she said she would send them an email and they may get back to me. (they never did)I just want to say dealing with this vet with our 12 year old dog was the worst experience of a vet I’ve ever had so if you’re looking for a vet to help you with an emergency this is definitely NOT the place,shame on you hometown Vet you are just a pet food store not a vet!! Our dog passed away that day!!!

Expérience fantastique: First rate staff and facility. Friendly, compassionate and very thorough. Went out of their way to help a stray kitten who showed up on our doorstep with injuries. She's a little fighter and has now found a loving home. Thank you so much.

Expérience négative: I called Hometown Vet in October, 2022 and waited over a month until 11/15/22 for an appt. When I brought my cat in, he had become lethargic and weak although his blood-work and exam were normal. On 12/9/22, he was still lethargic and had lost some weight as well as having signs of a cold although his blood-work and X-rays were normal. Dr. Clark said tumor markers may reveal evidence of cancer but that technology was not available to him. Over the Christmas break, I emailed HTV because of continued symptoms. I only got a reply from a vet tech. Finally, out of frustration at his increased weight loss and fatigue, I called an old trusted vet who suggested an ultrasound. On 1/9/23, this test at a local ER showed 2 liver tumors. Now 4 months after my first call to HTV, my cat was too weak and the symptoms too progressed to attempt surgery. The obvious neurological symptoms of loss of coordination and inability to use the litter box or even drink out of a bowl were signs of neurological deterioration likely due to cancer spread to his brain. On 1/16/23, my dear wonderful cat was euthanized at a local vet. RIP Midnight

Expérience négative: Do not recommend. They seemed fine enough in past dealings but today they have made trying to let our girl go, horrible. As if it's not bad enough going through this, they have made us wait around all morning for callbacks. They open at 7:30 but no apparently no vet until almost 9 - how is this helpful to clients needing help first thing in the morning? Why open if no one there that can actually do anything? Almost 2 hours later and they still haven't called. I had to pester on fb because our girl is suffering while they dilly dally and did not swt any waiting expectations. They've accused us of belittling their staff because I said they didn't care... well, they haven't shown any compassion, so I don't see any caring in our interactions today. They do not know how to deal with an anxious client trying to let their pet/family member go. So now our girl is stuck suffering while we try to find another vet who has some compassion. And now because I mentioned I would be doing this. They've blocked me from their page and being able to message about anything. No one was out of line. Some education to the client on why instead if spouting it's a legality, would go a long way. And educating on process to the client and costs, instead of getting defensive when we inquire on why an additional service is required when we unfortunately knew she was beyond help. Things could have gone differently had they handled their dealing with an anxious and grieving pet parent better.

Expérience fantastique: This vet hospital has always been amazing to me. They have been there for my 3 cats for years. They are always friendly and their fees are reasonable. Recently I had to bring my 14 year old boy in for testing and it was rather unexpected so I didn’t have all the money when there. They took his blood and urine samples and allowed me to pay most of the bill and pay the rest later. If it wasn’t for this Vet and their kindness my boy would not be getting the care he needs.

Expérience positive: Vets can be pricey in general but that's my only qualm here. Amazingly caring and helpful the couple times my fur baby has given us a scare, and when we had to put our previous cat down. Super sympathetic and caring. First choice, especially since the city animal hospital isn't actually interested in helping anyone.

Expérience fantastique: Took my dog in for an unscheduled vet visit. Our dog had something wrong with his ear. They quickly diagnosed the problem and prescribed his medication. It's been a week and he's back to his old self again. Thank you!!

Expérience négative: First off I will say that Dr.Bill was outstanding the 1 time I dealt with him; he had to have our cat euthanized and Dr.Bill was incredible through this process. Dr.Natalie who previously cared for our dog at hometown was an absolutely amazing vet but has since moved on. My rating is so low because we had to have our golden euthanized at 9 1/2 which alone was challenging enough. From the moment I walked into Hometown that day that entire experience was a nightmare - they were not ready for us at the appointment time leaving me standing in the lobby holding a 100lb dog, everything beyond there was one issue after the other with a vet that did not appear to know what she was doing (unsuccessful IV ports five times, sedation twice, etc) When our dog gasped and began to stir (after pronounced deceased) the vet said “oh that’s just Lazarus reflex it could happen for a bit” and walked out of the room and left us there alone. There was no humanity in this, and to say the least it was a traumatic experience. I checked her vitals myself twice before I left the room and left her there by herself. I was devastated and she deserved better care than that. An appointment that should have taken 20 minutes was almost an hour and a half of torture. After processing all of this I emailed Dr.Chelsie (co-owner) because I did not want anyone else to have to experience anything like this. I received no reply. I will never return and have shared this experience with anyone who asks. I would recommend Dr.Bill a million times over but not this organization!

Expérience fantastique: Very thorough in the aftercare of my cat's surgery and very punctual and fast with appointments and services. My cat had a great recovery, he didn't need half the stuff I was given but it was nice to have it in case I did need it!

Expérience négative: I take my dog in with porcupine quills in her face, they said they wouldn't take the time as she hasn't been a client long enough. More recently had a problem with a tape worm, Go in, tell them I have some tape worms in my dogs stool, described what the worms look like. When I call to ask why the de-wormer didn't work a week or so later, I'm told that they sold me de-wormer that doesn't affect tape worms... Won't refund me the false purchase or credit me toward the actual medicine I need to buy. I'm through with these people, they care more about their timetable than the pets that go through their door.

I have been going to Hometown since 2015, they always do their very best to help and treat your animals with kindness and compassion. I am THAT cat owner, and they have not once made me feel like an annoyance or stupid for all of my questions.

They were able to get me in promptly for my cat's ear hematoma, and were very flexible with my work schedule. The follow up process is immaculate. Prices are very reasonable. I would recommend the staff, especially Dr. Christie to anyone who is having medical issues with their furry friend.

Expérience négative: A dear friend of mine has been dealing with a sick dog for over 5 weeks now. Hometown has been slow to act and has made my friend feel unimportant. Her fur baby is only a little over a year old. It has taken days, many days and several times to get a call back with results. They are quick to take her money but slow to respond to help her fur baby. I see a lot of reviews of how compassionate and caring they are, but what I have witnessed is a woman worried to death, waiting and waiting for a call back which doesn't come. My opinion is if you don't have a lot of money to spend stay clear of Hometown Vet. I will never take my fur babies there. If you want to know what compassion and caring for fur babies and their family looks like, call Valley Vet in Lincoln NB. They are the best.

They are accomodting, caring, calm and they have helped us so much with the fincancial burden of all these as well with discounts and working above and beyond to help our furry loved one get better!
