Expérience négative: I’m a client at this clinic. I called on December (15th) as I had to put one of my cats down and they told me to call around to other clinics. Had zero empathy, zero cares for a suffering animal. I ended up going to Bath Rd. And they took me within an hour even though I wasn’t a patient. Will not be going back to the heartless harpies at this clinic. Please see Josh C’s review right under mine as I believe it’s my cat they were talking about based on the time of his review. Horrified and heart broken to read that your staff was laughing at my or any cats suffering before he died. I will definitely be sharing my experiences with this clinic both publicly and personally. An absolutely shameful business and shameless staff that don’t deserve your money. Never been so disgusted in my whole life. S

Expérience fantastique: I had the best experience out of the worst situation. I thought my cat was dying and the veterinary care team immediately put me at ease. Kathleen and Dr. Hend Salem were so kind and extremely professional. As someone who works for a veterinary practice myself I can appreciate the stresses of the industry and compassionate bedside manner. They over delivered in every aspect. I will definitely be back, but hopefully not too soon because my boy is back and better than ever! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart and his!

Expérience fantastique: This emergency vet has never been anything but empathetic and compassionate when I’ve brought a distressed animal in. Most recently I went in with my cat, who was in severe discomfort and I was terrified he had a blockage. Dr. Brandon, Kathleen and Dana were prompt in his intake and care, and managed to help him (and calm me) giving me unbelievable peace of mind and clarity in next steps. Thank you so much!

Expérience négative: Not a great experience, called about my dog potentially ingesting a very small amount of rodenticide (bromadiolone) potentially a crumb at most but could not be certain. The lady on the phone looked it up and said we should get our pup there urgently as you only have a couple hours to induce vomiting When we arrived we were nearing 45 minutes in, our pup promptly had her temp and heart checked with a stethoscope by the tech and then we waited another 10-15 minutes before the vet came in. Meanwhile we can hear the staff clear as day talking in the back about their nails and how men play Tik toks too loudly, among other things. Finally the vet comes in and tells us our dog should be fine as they ingested well below the toxic limit but we should have blood work done in two days, (we the owners didn’t even know how much was ingested) however this could have been said over the phone. Saving us a 30 minute drive, 300 dollars and the stress. Then the vet goes back into the area with the staff and is heard talking about our pup while switching between whispering and talking at a normal volume (seems unprofessional) also to note, talking about how it “smells like cat shit in the office”, how she “checked out” 7 hours prior to our visit because she was visibly and audibly very sick. (No ppe to prevent possible germ spread, again seemingly unprofessional in a 10x10 enclosed room) as well as laughing about a call they received about a potentially dying cat. Overall just an odd and unprofessional visit, this is the 3rd different vet I’ve been too and it stood out as the worst visit I’ve had at any. A word to the staff, if you need to whisper you probably shouldn’t say it. And if you’re going to anyway maybe sound proof your rooms a little better so people can’t hear you. It makes you look bad and leaves a foul impression on clients who bring their beloved pets to you expecting professional care. I would drive to any other emergency vet clinic before I go back to this one. Just my personal experience, take your pets here at your own risk, can’t guarantee the vet won’t be mentally “checked out” for your visit

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your visit did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention.

We understand how stressful and frightening a potential toxin exposure can be, and we regret that this situation added to your anxiety rather than easing it. While our team’s priority is always patient safety—which is why we recommended an in-person assessment—we recognize that the communication around this could have been clearer and more reassuring.

We are also very concerned by your comments regarding conversations overheard during your visit. This is not the experience we strive to provide, and we take professionalism, client privacy, and compassion very seriously. Your feedback has been shared with our leadership team so we can review this thoroughly and address it appropriately.

We truly appreciate you voicing your concerns, as feedback like this helps us improve. If you would be willing, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss your experience further. Please feel free to contact our management team directly so we can better understand and learn from your visit.

We wish you and your dog all the best moving forward.

Expérience négative: This was years ago but I still feel I should share. We had an emergency visit one night. The vet said we didn't need xrays and prescribed a medication. After 2 days we could tell the meds were not helping, so we scheduled with our normal vet. It was revealed the meds could have killed my dog to top it off they stated I refused to get xrays (noting I asked if we should I was willing to pay it if needed). Just always trust your gut.

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear about the distress this situation caused and understand why it has stayed with you. We take concerns about medical recommendations, documentation, and communication very seriously.

While it’s difficult to comment on specific medical decisions or records from past visits in a public forum—particularly from several years ago—we do want you to know that our team is committed to continually reviewing and improving our protocols and communication to ensure the safest care possible for every patient.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective, as feedback like this helps us reflect and grow. If you would like to discuss your experience further, we welcome you to contact our management team directly so we can better understand your concerns.

Special thank you to Dr. Hend Salem and Shawna for your expertise and exceptional customer service.

Expérience négative: Sadly, if you visit this clinic be prepared to pay a very expensive fee. I was charged $254.00 for a 20 min consultation with my little dog and no diagnosis, so it was for nothing. When they told me what I had to pay, I was shocked. This is so overpriced and should not be allowed, pet care is very important and should be affordable and accessible. it is heartbreaking.

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

We’re very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your recent visit. We understand that unexpected veterinary costs can be stressful, especially when you’re worried about your pet. Our fees reflect the cost of providing 24/7 access to experienced veterinary staff, diagnostic equipment, and emergency care. Even during shorter visits, our team’s goal is always to assess your pet’s condition thoroughly and ensure their comfort and safety. If you’d like to discuss your experience in more detail, please reach out to us directly — we’d appreciate the opportunity to review your visit and address your concerns.

Expérience fantastique: We had an absolutely amazing experience at Kingston Regional Pet Hospital! Today our pup had an unknown allergic reaction, and he unfortunately has some reactivity issues (we’re working on them). Getting a needle in him is usually a challenge, but the team here was incredible. They were patient, understanding, and used an stress-free approach telling us to “pretend you’re leaving out the front door” to give the injection seamlessly/while he was distracted. He even got lots of pets by the team afterwards! Positive experience all around. We highly recommend!

Expérience négative: I took my golden Retriever in for unusual swelling on the side of her face and her neck. We were made to wait 4 and a half hours in our car. We were then called in to wait another half hour in a room to see a vet. She examined her and tried to extract something from the mass. Prescribed anti-inflammatory and antibiotic. We spent maybe 5 minutes with a vet. For that 522.00 dollars and had to take her to my own vet to be drained and flushed repeatedly. She was in very bad shape. Really felt like treatment was mediocre.

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and the difficulties your dog faced. We understand how stressful it can be to wait for care, especially when your pet is in discomfort. Expérience négative: My young daughter brought in a kitten we found on the side of road that was about 2 weeks old. We couldn’t get into our regular vet so she brought her here. I am so upset that they took advantage of my daughter charging her 250$ to look at a kitten that they said needed deworming. They suggested to get the meds it at our vet as it would be less expensive. Well our vet needed to see her to give her deworming. Now she has to pay another visit to get the deworming. We called Kingston regional vets to see if they could send the Prescription only to be told that even though they charged 250$ they didn’t do an exam and she would have to get another exam and pay. I have no words on how they took advantage of a young person who is just scraping by trying to pay for school. One would expect that with a fee there would have been a basic vet check done and if they recommended she buy the medication at another vet because is was cheaper that they would give her something to allow her to do this without paying for another visit. I can not believe the money grab

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're genuinely sorry to hear that you feel this way, and we understand how frustrating this situation must have been for you and your daughter—especially when caring for a young kitten in need.

We would like to clarify that a physical exam was performed during the visit, which is the standard requirement for any medical recommendations or treatment. As an emergency clinic, our primary focus is urgent and critical care, and we do not stock or dispense routine preventative medications such as dewormers or flea treatments. This was discussed prior to the appointment so that an informed decision could be made about whether to proceed with the exam.

While we did recommend obtaining deworming medications from your primary care veterinarian, we understand that this led to an additional visit cost, and we're sincerely sorry for the inconvenience and stress it caused. Our goal is never to create financial hardship, especially for those going above and beyond to help animals in need.

We value your feedback and take these concerns seriously. If you would like to speak with us further about this experience, please don’t hesitate to contact the clinic directly—we would be happy to talk through any remaining questions or concerns.

Expérience négative: $1000+ to put a cat down, cremate and give the ashes back to the owner is cruel, corporate greed at its finest. they were kind enough to wave the euthenisia fee but I couldn't get the ashes back because I couldn't afford it. I had to pay $156 for a comunual cremation. There is no closure for that. I wanted to bring my boy's ashes home but I couldn't afford it.

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly sorry for the loss of your beloved cat and understand how heartbreaking and overwhelming it can be to say goodbye to a cherished companion. Please know that our team extends our deepest condolences to you during this incredibly difficult time.

We recognize how important closure is, and we deeply regret that cost was a barrier to your wishes. Our goal is never to add to the emotional burden families face in these moments. While we do our best to provide compassionate care and offer options based on each family’s needs, we also acknowledge that end-of-life services, especially private cremation with ashes returned, can be expensive due to external provider costs.

We’re glad we could waive the euthanasia fee to help in some way, and we’re truly sorry that it wasn’t enough to ease your pain. If there’s anything more we can do or discuss privately, we welcome you to reach out to us directly.

With heartfelt sympathy,

Expérience négative: Attended this hospital for emergency visit for our lethargic ill kitchen who was vomiting and having diarrhea As soon as we walked in the door we were being pushed into every possible test. $$$$ We knew enough to take it step by step. We had an x ray completed and we were told by the vet that our kitten had a life threatening condition pyometra and that she needed urgently to be spayed. He proceeded to tell us it was going to cost $5000-$6000 to spay her . We had him give her antibiotics and fluids. We proceed to another vet who completed the spay immediately for $650 and told us she did not have pyometra . Their notes then use very specific wording to protect them if you end up allowing them to perform any procedure and they aren’t correct . This clinic is there to drain your bank account by playing on your emotions if you will let them . How sad.

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are very sorry to hear about the distress you and your kitten went through and understand how upsetting this situation must have been. Started at 6:15 ,called at 6:25 to seek some help, told we close in an hour and a half so not really anything we can do. While I am writing this review at 6:48 I could have already been there getting my cat looked at. Thanks this is greatly appreciated.

Expérience négative: Price gouging at its finest. They should be ashamed of themselves for what they want to charge us when we are already in distress because something is going on with our pets. They wanted a minimum of $900/dog just to see them (porcupine). Instead we did what we could here to keep them comfortable and took them to our vet-but deciding on getting some help shouldn’t be more than twice the price (almost three times really) just because it is at night/off hours.

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear about the difficult situation you faced with your pets and understand how stressful it can be when they need urgent care.

As an emergency clinic, our pricing reflects the specialized services, advanced equipment, and 24/7 availability required to provide immediate and critical care outside of regular business hours. While emergency care can be more costly than routine veterinary visits, our team strives to deliver the highest quality treatment when your pets need it most.

We appreciate your perspective and take your concerns seriously as we continually review our services and pricing. If you would like to discuss your experience further or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us directly.

Expérience négative: They refused let my pregnant dog have c-section to saved 2 puppies life, at least I must pay $6,000 which I don't have kind of money and they suggested me to applied scratchpay coverage online which was limited $200.00 to coverage is not enough! They will not do anything to save my dog and puppies at all! It's was Sunday! My local vet is closed! I had waited until Monday morning, I rushed to my local vet to begging them to save my dog and puppies by had c-section but unfortunately 2 puppies passed away because vet said it had been too long as two days stuck in my pregnant dog's pelvic since Saturday when my dog was labor. My dog has recovery as well it's only cost me $1,200 on vet bill which your price is ridiculous expensive! Thank for wasting my time to came Kingston all way from Belleville!! Expérience fantastique: This clinic was so caring and accommodating when our dear standard poodle told us it was his time to leave our Earth. Of course it was in the middle of a cold December night right before Christmas. I called and explained everything to the caring lady who answered the phone. She was so kind thru my tears. I ended up calling her back when things did not change and my husband and I had made the decision to help our big boy be set free. She told me we could come right away and they took us in after a bit of a wait in the clinic. (No problem, they were helping another pet in need.) Anyways I just cannot say enough great things about my appreciation for their quick and willing assistance, open communication regarding costs and the explanations provided (i.e. this was my first dog I had ever had to seek this help for) their patience with me, and the compassion while I was sobbing and heart broken. Thank you. ❤️

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for your kind words. We’re deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved poodle and are honored that we could support you during such a difficult time. Expérience négative: Called for an emergency and the women who answered the phone was extremely unfriendly and was not helpful. My dog may have had salt toxicity and when I could not answer how many salt dough ornaments my dog had ate she became very rude and told me that I could bring her in or stay home. Due to the fact I had a new born and was home alone I said I would like to stay home but what are some things I should look for… she blew me off and did not answer. Saying unless she knew how many the dog ate she couldn’t help me. So either stay home or come in she repeated again. There is just no need for the attitude she had given me while we talked.

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and apologize that you felt dismissed during such a stressful situation. We understand how worrying it can be when a pet may be in danger, especially while managing other responsibilities at home. Expérience fantastique: I cannot even begin to explain my gratitude towards the professionalism, kindness and care of every single staff member here. My cat had a urinary blockage on New Year’s Day. I had never been so scared in my life, but thanks to the animal hospitals quick and attentive care my kitty, now a week later is going to the bathroom, purring, eating. THANK YOU!!! For working with my vet and saving my cat. Not only all this great care in person, but they even called to check in when he was home. I will forever trust them with the care of my animals, and recommend to anyone needing emergency care for their pet

Expérience négative: I would not recommend this place at all! We had a terrible experience and will never be back. All they care about is making sure your payment goes through before they even will look at your pet. Once they did the examination the X-ray was inconclusive and they could not do anything just told us to go to Ottawa. This is not a true emergency clinic. Avoid if your pet has a serious injury.

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Hi Tricia,
We are sorry to hear of your experience.
We have open communication about the costs of services at our hospital, like most business do, so that you are able to make informed choices for your pet in what you are comfortable proceeding with.
We are not a specialty/referral hospital, but an after hours emergency hospital. When a pet requires more intensive/specialty care, we refer them to the appropriate place for that care to be sought. This provides the best possible outcome for the pet and that is always our goal.
If you would like to discuss anything further, please reach out to our office manager at 613-634-5370.

Expérience fantastique: I came in scared and on the verge of tears and left with a smile and Cash , our 11 yr old kitty purring. We were greeted by the sweetest Veterinary Technician at the door and immediately shown to a room where Cash was examined by the Vet Tec. She was very gentle and professional. The Vet came in next and really took her time explaining things to me ... something that means a lot when you're worried and nervous. She is an excellent doctor with a very gentle touch. Please don't wait to go to a Veterinarian or Urgent Care clinic. We're lucky, Cash will be okay, but seriously, some things just can't be fixed at home. We were also pleasantly surprised with the bill.....considering the amount of time and care and expertise that went into that SUNDAY visit. AND we left with medication! Five Star service. Thank you so much. PS.I feel so bad I don't remember their names because of the circumstances but the date was Sept. 20, 1 p.m.

Hi Susan,

Expérience positive: Staff were very kind and understanding when we took my mom's dog to be seen after he collapsed. He ultimately had to be put to sleep and we could not have asked for better staff to help. They treated my mom's dog as if he were their own pet, even after he passed they had someone stay in the room so he didn't have to be alone when we left. My only other thoughts are that I wish this animal hospital could be staffed 24/7 so that people don't have to travel so far during their closing hours. Thank you to all the staff who were so kind to my mom and Zepplin. Thank you for making his transition over the rainbow bridge so calm.

Expérience positive: We brought our (at the time) ~ 8.5-month-old kitten to Kingston Regional Pet Hospital the evening of March 6th. We're located in Belleville, and headed there based on direction from the after-hours message at our normal vet. Unfortunately, we arrived to learn that they didn't have an in-person vet that night (only virtual services), and after some preliminary investigations, were told they didn't feel confident they would be able to help if our kitty needed urgent interventions, such as a surgery. The team were very apologetic, and helped make arrangements for us to be received at Port Hope, which we are very grateful for. They also asked for an update once we figured out what was going on - our kitty ended up testing positive for FeLV through labs conducted at Port Hope, but we are pleased to share that after 80+ days of diligent treatment and monitoring, she was one of the lucky ones (knock on wood) and has now tested negative, with a prognosis that her life should be normal, and hopefully long, healthy, and happy. We were also able to protect our older cat from contracting the illness. My only suggestion would be that the team ensures surrounding area vets (for whom they may be one of the nearest after-hours clinics / animal hospitals) are aware that services can at times be limited with virtual care, so that this can be better communicated to the owners of potential patients when making emergency decisions. We accidentally phoned the wrong place (a different Kingston vet) when looking to inquire if our cat could be seen, and were told by this place to "just show up" at Kingston Regional, and that they operated the same as a human emergency department (seemingly didn't know vet services would be virtual / limited that night). Despite this, we truly appreciate the kindness, compassion, and support we received at Kingston Regional during this stressful time.

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Hi E Jay,
We are very happy to hear that your kitten is one of the lucky ones, as that does not happen often! We are sure it was because she has one of the best owners possible to take care of her.

We apologize about the confusion around hours/coverage - we do update all clinics within Kingston and surrounding area each week of our coverage and hours.

We hope your kitty has a long and normal life full of lots of love from you!

Expérience fantastique: Great experience from the initial phone call, triage was done in our car (much less stressful for our cat) and we were able to wait quietly until the Vet and team were ready to examine. The time between vitals, examination, possible diagnosis, testing and discharge was pretty fast. All of the staff were extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. The hospital itself is very clean and sterile, and the price was more than reasonable, 200.00 for the visit plus testing costs, which in my opinion is very fair for a Sunday morning. The best part for us was the follow-up phone call the following evening, to see how the cat was feeling. We all appreciated it. I'm happy to report Slinky is on the road to recovery ♥️

Hi Donna,
We are so happy to hear Slinky is feeling better and thank you for taking the time to let the team know of you experience.

Expérience fantastique: We have visited Kingston Regional Pet Hospital quite a few times over the last few years. Each experience would be rated 10/10. One of our first experiences was almost two years ago, and it was one of the worst times of my life. We had to make the decision to euthanize our 4 year old cat, Jude. If it wasn’t for Michelle and the rest of the team comforting me and reassuring me that I’ve done all I can do and it was the right thing to do, I don’t know if I could’ve made it through that night. Thinking back on that horrible night and awful loss, I will never forget Michelle’s comforting words. Flash forward to April 27th (3 days ago), my wife and I had to go because our dogs got into a fight, and unfortunately one of them needed stitches in her ear. We called first and they told us to give them a call when we arrived. We did just that and were met with kindness, empathy and compassion over the phone. When they told us to bring her in, I was met with that same kind face from two years ago, Michelle and instantly I was at peace. I knew we were at the right place! Our dog was treated and sent home that night and all is well with both dogs. Thank you KRPH and Michelle for all you do for all of us pet parents out there. We know your jobs are extremely tough, but just know we appreciate you so, so much!

Expérience fantastique: I had to make the devastating decision to bring the love of my life in (6 year old Old English Bulldog named Gunner who was epileptic) knowing he would not be coming home after having 14 seizures in 48 hours. The staff on Sunday were amazing and the tech, Onie even sat and listened to our stories about him until we were ready to leave him. She even said she would sit with him so he wouldn't be alone. That made the hardest decision I've ever had to make a little easier knowing that she cared enough to make that offer. We really appreciate all your kindness and caring ❤️ Julie & Ric Belaire Edit- I just wanted to add an update and thank the cli ic for the card and to Onie for the thoughtful personalized message in the card that was sent. It meant a lot to us. And to thank you so much for the paw print. This clinic is absolutely wonderful.

We had to wait a few hours to be seen, which is totally understandable! (You have to keep in mind this is a busy emergency clinic, and our cat was stable enough to wait) When we did get inside though, the technician and vet were both very kind and very thorough despite how busy they were! I’ve never had a scare like that with any of my pets and I left feeling so much better. While my cat still needs some more care from my regular vet, she is doing SO much better already.

Expérience fantastique: My fiancé and myself took our cat here in a horrible dire situation that popped up out of no where. She had an infection for over a week but was on medication she was taking twice a day. Out of the blue I was out for the evening and I got a call from my fiancé that the cat was profusely bleeding and the blood was clotting. I came straight home almost a two hour drive. We took her straight into Kingston after speaking with the secretary. They were very responsive took her straight in 20 minutes after we arrived at 2am. Our beloved cat was on deaths door. After spending 24 hours giving her IV antibiotics and anti nausea medication she was ready to go in for surgery. We received a call from the vet that did the surgery Immediately after finishing. Our cat made it thought the surgery. She stayed at kingston regional from Friday night till Sunday afternoon. Even after we got her home she wasn’t 100% out of the woods. But I am happy to say it’s been a few weeks she is all done all the meds and is doing great!! Thank you so much to everyone who helped and worked with Kitty. Myself and my fiancé are forever grateful we did not lose our kitty that night and it is all thanks to Kingston regional pet hospital. Total bill for anyone wondering was $5500 which when all is said and done was reasonable for the amount of care she received. Her new favourite past time is cuddling under the blankets which she hated before lol thank you so much!

People need to understand that this is the only emergency vet open after hours in Kingston, which means there will obviously be wait times with priority patients going first - same with any emergency clinic. They’re not money grabbers and seem to truly care about your pets, which is refreshing. I highly recommend !!

Expérience négative: We brought our 15 week old puppy in last night as she was acting completely out of character, unsteady on her feet and crying out as if she were in pain. I called the clinic in advance and described her symptoms to the vet tech on the phone. She asked if it were possible that our puppy may have ingested something and I thought yes....her handle on her leash was chewed. The vet tech said that didn't match her symptoms and asked if she could have been exposed to Marijuana. We said yes.....as our neighbor par takes and often throws his butts in the shared garden. The vet tech said it was likely that she did eat some and advised us to monitor her. We were told then that the clinic closes at 10pm. We watched our puppy however, she seemed to get worse rather than better and we decided to bring her in around 9 pm. We were put into an exam room and the vet tech came in to check our pups vitals and asked again what she may have been exposed to. She then informed us that her main concern was methamphetamines. We are NOT drug users. We live on a rural road where there is very little traffic. Our puppy is never out of our site outside our home and she is crated when we cannot focus on her at home. We told the vet tech this and she said she had 20 years of experience and our pup was most definitely showing symptoms of drug intoxicity. She repeatedly said our pups pupils were dilated and her behavior was indicative of drug poisoning. Multiple times she said our dog was drugged. . She then said because Zoeys eyes were dilated, it was best for us to sit in the dark with her. She turned the lights off in the exam room leaving the door open slightly ajar for some light. We sat in the exam room for over 20 minutes, in the dark while our puppy screamed and flopped around on the floor, losing control of her bladder. I began to cry. This vet tech was so focused on drugs that she would not consider anything else. We then had a virtual visit with the actual vet, who said on examination that Zoeys pupils were NOT dilated. The vet techs response was "well not anymore" even though nothing else about zoeys condition had changed. Dr. Grace was compassionate and did show concern. She was unable however to physically examine our pup so she suggested blood work ($771) and an emergency run to a 24hr vet clinic in Port Hope for monitoring, I.V fluids.....and medication IN CASE the dog was suffering from intoxicity. We were quoted $1700 to $2000 for 24 hour care. To the shock of the vet tech who at this point believed we were drug users, we agreed to the care. However after an hour of abuse, we made the decision to call our own vet who left his home to meet us at his clinic to examine our girl. He determined that due to her behavior she was in pain and uncomfortable. He did belive she had ingested something and we induced vomiting. Low and behold, Zoey had chewed the handle of her leash earlier that day. She had small peices of rubber in her vomit. She had a minor blockage. I am absolutely disgusted by the way we were treated by that vet tech. I will be reporting her to her office manager and who ever will listen. I'm happy to say that today, my sweet girl has returned to her happy, healthy playful baby shark tooth self today. I hope no one else goes through what we did at that clinic. As new puppy parents we were scared and treated like drug addicts. I apologize that in the emergency with our dog, I didn't change out of my pajamas or style my hair. Maybe if I had come in my scrubs, we would have been treated like regular people. To that vet tech, I understand medical terminology. You should never judge a book by its cover. After reading some of these reviews, I am wondering if you are THE vet tech other people have mentioned. Shame on you!

Expérience négative: Our dog was sick and we took her here. She needed to hydrated but they informed us that they had no overnight care . For an emergency animal hospital would you not think they be able to care for your fur baby ? Our fur baby ending up passing away suffering due to lack of care from this so called emergency hospital . This is 2 times now they have sent our fur babies home and 12 hours later they have passed away . Along side a huge bill price doesn’t matter but when you’re told to take them home with medication you assume they know what they are doing . Never take your pets here !!

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Hi Becky,
Our condolences on the passing of your pet.
We cannot find a file under your name to look up your pets history.
As every clinic (emergency and routine care) is facing a very hard time with Veterinary coverage, we apologize we could not provide overnight care for your pet. We do however always have a hospital within driving distance to refer you to be seen during the times that we are not with full Veterinary coverage. We ensure each client knows their options for after hours care so that their pet can be seen by a clinic that is open during an emergency.

Expérience négative: 12 hours waiting, outside in the car, - 10 snow weather, dog bleeding, asked three times for come and check the dog, but they ignored. Better for give people option to go stay somewhere instead of staying outdoor beside the highway. Even not able to take dog for a walk on grass, because car traffic. Their emergency consideration based on your responses over the phone. They asked, is your dog breathing? I said Yes.. She said then it's not urgent. We have other urgent cases here you should wait front of the door. I asked, could you please call when you are available, I just wanted to go another place 5-10 minutes away. She said no, you must wait here or lost your queue on the line. It's no senses. I brought my outdoor dog, why spend your time to cutting her nail instead of saving her life? Who gave you permit for cutting outdoor dog nails? Veterinary doctor, she is okay, but any other stuff on front, I can't say same thing. Why asking credit card authorization before applying anything? Are we escape? Isn't that animal life important than dollars? 10 minutes triage, and 15 minutes examination $200.. No more words required. People are not foolish, just because of monopoly system, we can't buy basic medicine for our pets without paying you money for nothing.

Expérience négative: We arrived Saturday night, December 30th at approximately 6 pm. My girlfriend's dog had been attacked by another dog. They told us they were closing, came out and examed I'm briefly confirming his jaw was broken. They told us we had to go to Ottawa. Thar dog rode 2 hours no meds. When we got to Capital City in Kanata after examine him we determined his injuries were critical and had to euthanize him. I can't believe still that Kingston treated him so poorly.

Expérience fantastique: I can’t thank you enough for taking such good care of Aristotle. As aPet owner, when you know that your pet isn’t himself, it is such a relief when you have people like yourselves able to confirm what the issues are and what to do about them. We would like to express our gratitude to the staff for their kindness, compassion and help. Words can’t really express the amount of appreciation we have for you all and what you do to help our loving pets. Even in the middle of the night, which is very much appreciated, we are very thankful that you are there in times of need. Thank you all and Merry Christmas to all of you

Expérience négative: Where to start. The people we spoke to were nice enough, but being nice doesn't prevent your pet from dying. The lack of basic veterinary knowledge was APPALLING. My puppy presented with GI symptoms and we were told it could be neurological, immune, cardiovascular, or pertaining to the urogenital system, so quite literally anything. They just recommended hydrating her, which is one of the most umbrella treatments around (costing over $1000 of course) even though she was still urinating. We were then given meds to reduce her pain. They would have achieved this had we continued to give them to her because they would have killed her. Thank goodness we realized her breathing was getting severely depressed and we stopped administering the meds, but I'll never forget what it felt like having her shake and fight for her life in my arms. It broke my heart. We had to go to another city because Kingston is a nightmare if your beloved pet gets sick. Thanks for wasting my time, energy, and money

Expérience négative: On December 10th I had an emergency my dog was spitting up blood this was one of the numbers given to me to call, after explaining the situation and begging them to see my dog they said they couldn't, no explanation just sorry. UNBELIEVABLE to make along story short it took me calling 5 emergency clinics Kingston, Rossmore, Oshawa, Peterborough and Toronto emergency in Scarborough before finally in Whitby a clinic would take my dog. This is truly something that should never happen, animals are going to die if so called emergency care is unavailable.

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Hi Debbie,
We are sorry to hear this and hope your dog is doing well.
On December 10th we did not have Veterinary coverage late afternoon, evening and throughout the night. As you can see with how many clinics you had to contact for after hours service, there is a large shortage of Veterinary personnel available to work, which means there are unexpected closures of clinics.
We work hard to have coverage available amongst clinics within a two hour radius as the shortage is province wide.
We will ensure to discuss communication amongst the staff to clients regarding any shortages - we do update the local Veterinary clinics of our weekly coverage so that they are aware when we are closed to their clients.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback for us.

Expérience fantastique: 2:30 in the morning and a vomiting dog. So glad the phone was answered when I called and when I said she is vomiting blood, come on in and we can look her over. Set my mind at ease immediate from the vet tech to Dr Tait. She looked over my pet and then formulated a plan that set us up for success until the morning and we could see our regular vet. Athena rested comfortably and so did I. When you have an emergency this is the service you deserve.

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Hi Jennifer,
It is always scary to wake up in the middle of the night with a pet feeling unwell. We are glad you brought Athena in so that we could take care of her until your regular vet was available. We will pass along your kind words to the staff!

Expérience fantastique: I’m so glad I found this place! It was worth the drive from Belleville on a Sunday night when my Doberman lost her ability to walk. The staff helped me bring her in from the car, which I was really worried about having to do by myself. I really liked that they have us wait in our vehicle because my dog could be so comfortable and cozy while we waited to be seen. They were so calm, patient and thorough, and even showed me how I can support my dog at home without having to lift all of her weight. The vet very patiently answered my questions about my dogs condition, I never felt rushed at all and left feeling like I was better prepared for the weeks ahead.

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Hi Lydia,

Expérience fantastique: We were away from home and needed our Macy to see a vet after a possible soft tissue issue. We went on a Saturday morning and the attendant was nice and suggested we come back if it seems urgent as was a few hours wait. We then went back Sunday morning. The attendant was very empathetic and sighing less than half hour we were inside. Jess was the nurse who took the basics. She was a dream. So kind and helpful and reassuring. Couldn’t help but tell her that and even Macy was fine and not too unhappy. Dr tait then came in and did a thorough look over to find she had likely a soft tissue injury and was then put on pain meds and muscle relaxation. She was as excellent as Jess’s and they were both so kind and helpful and gentle. Macy left with her medication and a not so unpleasant visit to a vet. I asked if they had a private practice but unfortunately they don’t. Such a shame because they were excellent and I’ll be dropping some Xmas cookies off for them over the holidays. I’d highly highly recommend them!!!

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Hi Nalini,
Thank you so much for leaving such kind feedback - we always pass this along to our staff so that they know first hand how their hard work and dedication to each and every pet makes the pets family feel.
We hope Macy had a safe drive home and is feeling much better!

Expérience fantastique: KRPH was amazing. They were up front with the potential wait time to be seen, and offered us alternative solutions when the wait time became too long. They were VERY patient and understanding with my cat who is an absolute hellion at the vet. And Natasha was gracious enough to give us a follow up call. Would definitely recommend using their services if you're ever in need!

Expérience fantastique: We can't thank the staff at the Kingston Reginal Pet Hospital enough for their help with our pup who needed to see a veterinarian immediately due to an eye injury. Our amazing vet was away on vacation and the stress of finding someone you can trust in an emergency situation is overwhelming. Thank you, everyone, for helping us get our dog the help he needed, it looks as though his eye is improving, slowly, but in the right direction. Thanks again for all your kindness and care. Grace

Expérience fantastique: I cannot say enough how wonderful Dr. Brandon and the whole KRPH team have been during one of the most traumatic and stressful times in my life. 2 weeks ago my dog was showing signs of distress and when I arrived there (sobbing and disheveled lol) I was blown away at the compassion and professionalism. It came down to my poor baby needing emergency surgery as he was in critical condition. Dr. Brandon ensured I was informed the whole way through; she saved my dogs life and I will be forever grateful. After his surgery he was extremely anxious as he has quite terrible separation anxiety when I arrived they were showering him with love as if he was their own. Following his surgery, I called multiple times (maybe too many times lol) informing and updating as I had a lot of anxiety and wanted to be sure certain things were normal - each time I was met with comfort and guidance I never once felt like a burden. Thank you all so very much! Taylor + Marvin

Hi Taylor (& Marvin !),
We are so happy to have been along with you and Marvin on this stressful and life threatening journey. No call is too many calls! We love to hear updates and help you through the recovery process. He was a wonderful and strong patient, that has done so well!

Expérience fantastique: I cannot say enough good things about Kingston Regional Pet Hospital!! I have a golden doodle puppy who has gotten into a few things and caused me some serious panic. He’s also had kennel cough on a Saturday. Kingston regional pet Hospital has been there for me at 3 AM, 5 AM and on weekends. They are the absolute BEST, and are always kind and courteous and completely understand what being a pet parent is all about!! I would highly highly recommend them. One thing to note is that they are an emergency pet hospital for ANYONE’S pet! I was very worried to call because they weren’t “my vet”. They are everyone’s vet!

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
