Expérience fantastique: Always a pleasant experience with Ritson vet. They do their best to have us seen as quickly as possible and the doctors and staff are very friendly and efficient. I would recommend them.

Expérience négative: I am extremely disappointed with my experience this morning. I am currently caring for my brother’s elderly dog for the weekend. He is an established patient at this clinic (which I personally referred him to). I called to arrange a simple nail trim, as his nails are overgrown and clearly affecting his comfort. The person who answer the phone, Kyle, informed me that because I am not the registered owner, I am not permitted to bring him in — regardless of the fact that he is an existing patient and this is a routine service. This policy seems unreasonable, particularly in situations where a pet is temporarily in someone else’s care. What if there was an emergency? I was also told that even if I was the owner, an exam and updated rabies vaccine would be required before a nail trim could be performed. The rabies tag on his collar says “Ritson Veterinary clinic 2025” 2025 was 2 months ago? Having worked in veterinary medicine for over a decade, I know that as long as dogs are properly boostered at 1 year after their puppy boosters, rabies vaccines are good for 3 years. Long nails force seniors to alter their gait, causing discomfort, reduced traction on slippery floors, and increased risks of slipping. Shame on this clinic for denying their own patient this simple procedure. I hope the owner sees this and I hope they reconsider how they handle situations involving temporary caregivers and routine procedures in the future. That said, I highly recommend Furrendlyclips on Baldwin in Brooklin… they took care of him and were so gracious and kind

I loved that they asked me questions about everything including what he ate and come to find out I had to change his kibble to one with grains due to him being a large breed dog. I appreciate that they truly care about my pet like their own. I can also say he loved the love he got from Dr. Iqbal and the staff.

Expérience fantastique: Recently returned to Ritson Veterinary Clinic after a lengthy absence working with vets closer to my home. In 5 years, we have been unable to encounter the high standard of care and professionalism we enjoyed at Ritson, and decided to return despite the 30 minute drive. Tonight, we met Dr. Cindy Boeve, whom I chose for my furbaby based on her bio as a cat lover. This cat is an absolute basket case of anxiety during trips to the vet. Dr. Boeve was so gentle and intuitive, able to handle him, weigh him, assess his ears, oral cavity, listen to his lungs, palpate his abdominal organs, collect a urine specimen, provide him his vaccines and somehow left him looking calmer than when she had come into the room. She was patient, she was smart, she listened to and validated all of my concerns and observations, and she developed a collaborative plan with me to help manage my cat's condition. Outstanding class and professionalism. I have the maximum admiration for her, I would unhesitatingly recommend her as a vet and I will use her exclusively from now on. Bless you Dr. Boeve!

Expérience fantastique: We have gone to this vet with our pets for years! Dr Hoogers has always been wonderful, knowledgeable and kind and patient. There have been various vets in the clinic over the years and we have always had great experiences. Now, my senior dog isn't well and we cannot say enough about Dr. Tse!!! He has gone above and beyond to keep in touch, explain everything, research information for us, it's been a hard time of not so great news, but Dr.Tse has comforted us with his kind words and expertise. Highly recommend this vet!!!!

Expérience négative: Went approximately two months ago regarding my cat having bladder issues. They proceeded to do tests and nothing was wrong with his bladder. I also asked them to check his teeth as I noticed some discolouration. They barely looked and just brushed it off saying he was fine and now two months later my cat needs multiple extractions of his teeth due to a disease which this vet did not notice. Shame on this vet office for not actually properly looking at his teeth because my new vet said had you guys noticed when we came two months ago he wouldn’t need surgery to get his teeth removed. Wasted a ton of money at this vet just for them to make things 10x worse for me and my pet. Shame on you guys.

They were able to get us in super quickly and helped us with exactly what we needed. Dr. Tse was extremely kind, patient, and took the time to go over everything. Would absolutely recommend this clinic

They have created a very friendly environment for the various animals that go in to be looked after. Their open ear and dialogue is a very welcome factor for pet owners seeking the best care for their fur babies. I'd definitely recommend them to any person who is looking for quality care for their pet(s).

Expérience négative: Most selfish and uncaring veterinary clinic ever, its all come down to dollar and costs occurred to pet owners. They continue to try and force useless unnecessary exams which ideally they do very to little and charge ridiculous prices. It should not be a vet telling you must bring your pet in, we solicit there help when needed not the other way around, in addition, they would not hesitate in letting a pet suffer if things do not go their way, the WORSE ever animal clinic out there. Got to big for themselves and have no empathy for anyone! If your looking for a VET stay clear of this clinic, it will only cost you $$$$$$ and unnecessary harm and pain to your pets. Expérience fantastique: We have been seeing Dr. Hoogers for 20 years. He has cared for so many of our animals and always took time to explain treatment options throughly. I have never once felt pushed or persuaded, and always felt like we have received excellent care every time we have been there. He has seen us through the new puppy phase and eventually loss of our three beloved bulldogs and we just welcomed our new addition who met Dr. Hoogers this week. Again, he provided the best care. The clinic also provides exceptional care for our hairless cats, one of which is not very friendly and often requires leather gloves, and a lot of patience. Always grateful for this wonderful clinic, caring staff, and friendly front desk. Would highly recommend this clinic to anyone who values quality care for their pets. Expérience négative: Been going here for years, but lately seems like they're trying to rip me off. Came in to check on my dog's ear infection and they recommended some meds that would be placed directly into his ear and therefore not need to be applied manually like I've been doing previously. I've brought my dog here a few times in the past for his ear infection, but this was the first time I did this method of treatment. Well... A few weeks has passed and his ear began to stink again, I called in to ask for the other ear medication that they gave me previously (that I applied myself and worked better), but was told I'd have to bring him in for another inspection and pay yet again for another consultation. Basically having to pay for two consultations in a month for the same issue. Not to mention having to pay for the treatment and medication. Insane. Will not be returning

Expérience fantastique: We had a great experience with the two vets who we have seen for our elderly dog (age 13) for separate issues at Ritson Vet over the past week. They were very thorough, kind and patient. They did not rush through the appointment and answered all of our questions. We are happy to say that our dog appears to be on the mend.

Expérience négative: Do not use this clinic. They care more about keeping their medical license then the health of your pet. They archieved my file with my one cat because I asked for a vaccine exemption for my senior cat. They won't lose their medical license for giving a medical exemption but they did illegally remove my other cat as a patient because I asked.

Expérience négative: Just money grab. In October 2025 I was charged $123 for exam which was never done, The vet and technician were not able to put muzzle on my dog and exam did not happen.

They have helped me care for my cats, treat my cats when sick, and support when end of life needed to be done. They are knowledgeable, friendly, respectful and supportive. I have received care from almost all the veterinarians that have worked at this clinic since 2003, and each of them have been amazing. I wouldn't hesitate bringing my cat or dog to this clinic for treatment and care.

Expérience fantastique: a week ago I had to put my dear Minnie girl down. I brought two of my friends with me for support. The staff were excellent and gave us time alone and explained everything that would take place. Dr. B. came in, spoke to me and was very sincere during the entire time. It was so devastating and I was so shaken but the care was excellent during this very sad time.

I've seen a few vets over the years I've had my cat and honestly have been told some pretty horrible things like "Your cat won’t live past 6." When my cat got sick, Ritson Vet Clinic gave me an appointment the same day I called (I tried a few other vets and they wanted me to wait 3–5 days). They were not only professional but courteous. They worked with me and my cat, every member of their team was up to date on Harold’s issues, and everyone made us comfortable while answering my questions and concerns. Dr. Iqbal took on Harold’s case and went above and beyond—she even consulted on her day off due to the seriousness of his condition and her genuine concern for him. They performed surgery and saved his life, personally checking in on him and making sure he was doing well every step of the way. They were always patient and understanding, answering all of my questions in full. If you are looking for a good place to bring your animals and want to make sure they’ll be treated like family, I cannot give a better recommendation than Ritson Vet Clinic.

Love the way they make friends with your animal before exam ( treats really work ). They take their time to address all my concerns and give me natural meds on request. My dog had a very good appointment with little stress, thank you team!!!

Expérience négative: I have always had great vet care at this clinic. But after 16 loyal years I need more from the office staff. I want to feel that my time matters and my business matters. There are a lot of vet clinics in our area and I am willing to shop around to find a better fit for my fur family. Again....never an issue with vet care...only with administrative staff. Sadly......your front end staff are making your clinic look bad. I hope that your leadership team will invest further resources in training in customer service.

Expérience fantastique: Loss of a Loved One, whether 4 legged or 2, is devastating. Without the kind and wonderful care my boy received here, it would all be so much herder. Not to single out any one Doctor as particularly generous with time, wisdom and compassion (as I'm sure they're all great) but Doctor "B". is, by far, the best I've been to. My boy and I've moved several times; he'd been seen by many vets. Hoxwever, Dr. "B".'s most excellent "pet-side manner" is one of warmth to the person and genuine affection and concern for her patient. This shone through during every visit. She places her patient's health and wellbeing above profit, and does so with tactful, compassionate wisdom. Losing a beloved companion is devastating, knowing you've acted in your companion's best interests makes the devastation bearable. My thanks to Doctor B., and all her team who helped during this difficult time.

Expérience positive: Still our go to vets office!! We have been long time clients of RVC, dating back to when Dr. Hoogers first opened the practice. We would never think of going elsewhere. The Vets and staff there have always been excellent. Yesterday, we saw Dr. Leon Tse with our elderly pug. Dr. Tse was patient, kind, attentive to what we were saying, and very compassionate. Thanks also to Rene at the front desk who took a picture of Leonard for us. This was such a thoughtful gesture and helped to allay our concerns. We highly recommend RVC!

Expérience fantastique: I had to decide to take my 16 yr old dog Tiamat Creatrix to have her euthanized. She had been on meds for several years and had led a good life but had taken a turn for the worse. Due to very bad experiences with euthanasia (my pets suffered horribly) due to bungling by the vets at 2 different clinics over the years I was terrified. I read reviews of many vets and had to choose. I had never been there before but I chose Ritson Veterinary Clinic. lt was accessible for me by cab and the reviews were very positive. I looked over the staff info and was pleased with what I read and saw. I read that it had been taken over by a corporate entity (not sure if that is correct) and I had found that the Animal Emergency Clinic in Whitby was 100 percent better after a corporate takeover, having been there before and after. So I had no issue with that. When I phoned they were so prompt and I could see them same day or the next. I chose the next day. When I arrived the place was spotless. There was nothing to stress Tia out even though she had never been there before. We went directly to a good sized spotless room with a clean soft blanket on the floor. They administered an IM relaxant and inserted the port to be used for the procedure. Tia was comfortable. They left us alone for a bit to say goodbye and returned and asked if it was ok to proceed. I said yes and she passed away with NO stress. It was a perfect procedure. I was grief stricken but not stressed out by this.I can only say that this is the way one wants their best friend to transition to the next stage of their existence. You pay before the procedure and that was really good as there is nothing worse than trying to deal with that afterwards. There is a buzzer to use when you are ready to leave the room so they are aware that all final visiting is over. The room exits directly to the street so I did not have to go back through the clinic. I can't think of a more professional and clinically perfect experience. No fake empathy. No confusion. Just perfect. Thank you for your perfection and I know where to go next time I need this service. I would completely trust them again. I recommend them!

Our cat, who is usually quite skittish and stressed by new situations, walked around the room like he owned the place. No fear or resistance. The vet's voice was soothing and her presence was reassuring to us and to our pet. We can't rate this place highly enough.

Expérience négative: Don’t bring your cat here. Spent less than 2 minutes looking at him charged $130 and said there was nothing they can do for his constipation. I called before hand to make sure they were able to properly check him, they said they would be able to handle it no problem. The veterinarian said they didn’t have the facilities to look at him even though they guaranteed they will be able to. Waste of time and money all they will do is refer you to the Durham emergency clinic. I have spoken to more than 10 people while at the in the same situation at the emergency while I was there. I do not recommend, unless you want to pay for nothing. This place is nothing but a cash grab Take your pets elsewhere!

Expérience négative: We recently had to make the heartbreaking decision to put down our beloved dog. Most staff at this clinic were incredibly kind and compassionate—especially Dr. Tse, Brooke (our vet tech), and Cherie, the practice manager. However, our experience was tainted by client care rep, Renee, and her unacceptable behavior during our final moments with our dog. While we were saying our goodbyes, Renee interrupted us abruptly, asking how much time we needed. Still in shock, we responded with “five minutes,” to which she coldly replied, “We are closing soon. Do you still need the five minutes?” Her lack of empathy in such a sensitive moment was appalling. At the time, I was too grief-stricken to process what had happened, but looking back now, I am infuriated—especially after learning that several staff members stayed late that evening for inventory, meaning closing time was not truly an issue. The practice manager did reach out to us after my mother left a review (now retracted) and showed utmost humility and offered a sincere apology. While I appreciate their response, I still felt compelled to write this review to warn others about interacting with Renee. While most of the clinic’s staff are compassionate and professional, Renee’s complete disregard for basic human decency was deeply upsetting. If you are coming here for end-of-life care, I strongly recommend avoiding any interaction with her. No one should have to experience that level of insensitivity in such a vulnerable moment.

Expérience fantastique: We took our 11 year old golden doodle to Ritson Veterinary Clinic for the first time. I had called regarding a problem with her eye and they were able to give me an appointment the same day. We saw Dr, Tse and we were so impressed with his kind and compassionate care, He took his time with us and explained different options, never pressuring us in any way. He was very good with our dog and she went off with him to have an eye stain with no hesitation. The clinic is very clean, the techs are kind and friendly and very reasonably priced. We will definitely return to see Dr, Tse.

Expérience fantastique: We are very happy with the service we receive at the Ritson Veterinary Clinic. We have used this Clinic with several of our Pets over the years. The Clinic was very helpful and supportive with us when we needed guidance with our dog Silver when her health got to the point that she needed help to pass on. They also have been supper great with our newest addition, a rescue dog from Korea. We knew very little about the breed, and they assisted us with how to care for and feed him. Personally, I think that Ritson Verterinary Clinic is a good place to take your pet.

Expérience négative: Extremely rude. Try to return a bottle of Shand Pooh and the lady opened it right in front of us and then bring it back to her supervisor and says it was opened. We can't take it. And starts to Argue with the customer.

Expérience négative: Used to love this place. ABSOLUTE waste of time. I called on Monday November 25 at 4:47pm (not in their notes attached to my file) and told them that my cat had regurgitated 3 doses of his antibiotics, lost his voice and was not showing any improvements. The woman stated that she would ensure that I got a call back that day from a vet with further instructions (did not happen). Tuesday November 26th I called at 4:47pm, this woman stated that it was a new trainee that had made an error and actually booked me to talk to a vet that wasn't even in the office. But she stated that she would ensure I got a call later that evening. *As you can guess I did not. Wednesday November 27th I called at 8:01am. I told the woman on the other end of the call pretty much exactly what the attachment says.... but what the attachment doesn't say is that she talked over me and cut me off and would not listen to what I had to say. I will not be coming back. I did not pick up the other dose of meds my cat needs because if I can't trust the employees to make a phone call and stick to their word there is NO WAY I will be trusting them around the medication my cat is to be given. If your time in not valuable, you don't mind being lied to, and if you don't think you deserve the common courtesy speak without being talked over than I guess you found the puurrfect vet for you.

Expérience fantastique: We've been coming here for years for dogs and cats. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Every vet we have seen has been lovely. We moved out of Oshawa but still drive 30mins just to come here. Highly recommend!!!

Expérience négative: Extremely overpriced and oversold. My dog had a yeast infection in his ear! I was charged over $400 for items I did not go there for. I do not recommend.

Expérience positive: I've been bringing my pets here since the late '90's and have always been super happy with both the care and the cost of bringing them here. Recently ordered a 3 month supply of my dogs allergy pills and the cost was more than the 6 month supply I purchased a year and a half ago. When I inquired as to why so much I was told that they put a surcharge on each tablet. An .85 cent surcharge, per tablet on an already expensive drug. They used to charge a flat rate script fee. Very disappointed that making profit seems to be more important than pet care here now.

Expérience fantastique: The staff at Ritson Vet have always been super sweet to my Cookie. The vet techs take care of her diabetes monitoring and though she often complains, I'm sure she loves the new office.

Yesterday we had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to her and I wanted to thank Dr. Boeve and the reception staff for their care and understanding. Expérience négative: My wife and I have been bringing our dogs here since 1998, that all ended today!! We brought our best friend (our doggy) here on April 20th 2024 for his annual check- up and his rabi vaccine. This went well the young vet who we had never seen before checked him over and I held him and kissed him on the head while she did this and when she gave him his needle. Zero issues! She discussed him getting another shot but said it was not really necessary. We left and after some discussion we thought it best we get the other shot. Our dog is our life and we never want to take chances. We have lost pets over the years and once had to put one down and although it was 7 years ago the pain is still there. We arrived for our appt for the next needle today May 11 2024, after calling, booking the appt and stating what we needed it for. We are in the examination room today and the vet enters and yet another vet we have never seen before. So the vet says today " you are here for Junior annual check-up ,while appearing to look at his file!! Then asked if we would like to discuss flea and tick prevention, again while appearing to look at his file!! I stated very politely that Junior is on what we were told by one of the many vets we have dealt with here the best preventative medication there is on the market for flea and ticks and we give it to him year -round. We will spend anything to keep him happy, healthy and stress free. I asked her if any of the previous visits were recorded on Junior's (my buddy and our bestest friend) file, "oh here it is" is what we were told. I steady Junior while she checked his heart rate before giving the needle and all is fine. Time for the needle and I hold Junior and kiss his head lightly and the needle is given with absolutely no issue and no stress to my buddy. Now we discuss heart worm and we say we would like him to have the medication which he has had in the past. The vet informs us blood will need to be taken and we say ok. The vet leaves and we (my wife and I) are a bit confused since in the past the vet took the blood right in the office while I held Junior. The next thing we know another girl comes in scoops Junior up and leaves. After ten minutes I hear (through a closed door) a dog yelp. Can't be Junior I'm thinking since I have never heard him make that noise, also my wife wants me to mention that I don't hear well and I heard this through a closed steel door!! I opened the door and heard what sounded like children laughing. I see four young ladies standing around a table chuckling amongst one another. My stress level is now through the roof and I asked is that my dog? I'm told yes and I'm told to leave and get back in the room, I said what are you doing to him? You are hurting him!! They had him muzzled and he was completely stressed out with four trying to hold him!! I grabbed him and the one young lady said "I have to hold this vein, so he doesn't bleed". I said are you done? No we are unable since he is moving too much. I said why did you not come and get me to hold him? " We are professionals" is the answer I was given. I actually was in disbelief and should not have used the word I used before saying I see what stupid looks like. Junior weighs 10.6 pounds and four PROFESSIONALS were unable to take blood without making him yelp and bleed and hurting him. I told them I will never be back. As I was paying for Juniors last visit here they then told me I was not to come back to which I said don't worry and keep up the good work. Junior has finally stopped shaking after several hours. Just a heads up from a man who loves his dog so much, I would not bring any animal to this place. Not sure what happened since we have dealt here as mentioned since 1998. The way our best friend was handled and hurt and stressed out by the "professionals" who could not take blood from a 10.6 pound shih tzu is too much. My wife and I are still very upset. Just a heads up, if you love your pet and bring them here, keep them in your sight. Sincerely Blaine McKelvey PS- I had more to say but ran out of room

Expérience fantastique: I’ve been taking my pets here for 20 years. They have ALWAYS been very friendly and accommodating. My dog (Charlie) had eye surgery last summer and it couldn’t have gone smoother! Pricing very reasonable. He healed up well. Thank you to all staff!

Expérience fantastique: Ritson Veternarian Clinic was so understanding when we recently went through the death of our German shepherd Kai. Dr Hoogers was very honest and upfront about the treatment he recommended and allowed us to make our own decision with his care. Our dog passed away peacefully at home with us and the staff were compassionate and accommodating when we decided to cremate him. Veterinarian expenses can be very high, but we never felt pressured to decide what to do. We thank them immensely for the care we received. Dave and Kathy Reilly and family

Expérience fantastique: I've been bringing my pets here for almost 20 years and they've always been treated well. I love the reminder emails that let me know when they're due for checkups and the texts that tell me when their meds are ready for pickup. I've also found them to be kind, sensitive, and caring when the time comes to say goodbye and provide a place for you to stay with them to help them to pass without stress, fear, or added pain.

Expérience fantastique: Such a wonderful vet clinic! From the get-go everyone was so polite and helpful. They got my Steven in so quickly and they treated him so well. The veterinarian was extremely kind and did not rush us. They offer etransfer as a form of payment which is convenient! Would recommend them to everyone.

Expérience positive: Friendly and knowledgeable staff that do know what they're talking about. However, their prices are insanely through the roof. Of course, to protect your family pet, to keep it alive, you need to pay exorbitant "starting costs" that just put you in a do or die situation. Must be the new building they need to pay for. I'm sure they do amazing great service here, but if people keep paying these insane prices, the costs will never drop. This is just my two sense.

Expérience fantastique: Excellent Veterinary Clinic , I have been coming here for years with my own pets , 2 Shih Tzus , they have both passed due to old age. My daughter has a new Persian Kitten now , our first visit with him was excellent as always .. I would like to add , Snarf went into for his Neuter on February 15, 2024 as always everyone was very kind , Snarf went in at 8Am and I picked him up by 1pm. Staff called on Saturday February 17, 2024 to check on him. Excellent Clinic , Thank you so much for your care. Snarf is doing great .
