Expérience fantastique: We have a four year-old Yorkie (Amy) that consumed a foreign object resulting in a small bowel obstruction and required immediate surgery. I was a little nervous to have trusted in Walker Road animal Hospital because in all honesty I had read bad reviews previously. It was the weekend and after hours, where were we to go? I’m happy to say that I don’t agree with the negative reviews. From beginning to end, we received pristine treatment and attentive care. Yes, financially their pricing is more steep and a little unfortunate that during an emergency a person is left without an option to shop around. When it comes to medical care, I will never hesitate again to bring my fur babies there if they absolutely need it. For now, I will stay with my usual veterinary care at Town & Country in LaSalle, not only because they are also very much amazing but also because of the rapport that we have built over the years.

Expérience fantastique: Very professional and compassionate. Brought our cat in and they were very helpful and took all our concerns seriously. They gave her a thorough triage exam without charging us a penny. They made sure our cat was ok, and answered every single question we had. It was 100% worth the trip at 10:30pm.

We had a little emergency with our cat and they took the time to go through all possibilities of what her issue could be and were so kind and respectful. They are such hard working staff and we are so grateful for them tonight ❤️ Update: after a horrific experience at another vet in Essex, we brought our 17 year old cat who was clearly end of life. Dr Singh thankfully took her in and made her last moments peaceful. We are so incredibly grateful for the love he showed us and our family during such a difficult time. Thank you ❤️

Expérience négative: Ive come here three times with all three of my cats and this by far had to have been the worst experience. I took my senior cat baby in at 1pm and ended up leaving without seeing anyone after seeing the doctor for two seconds once brought into the room around 7pm and he never came back after that. my poor cat has been throwing up for two days not drinking water and not going to the bathroom they took multiple people before us i ended up having to get my mom to come stay with the cat i come back from work to see if the cat had been seen and still no we left by 10:30 at the night time this is unaceptible and i will never ever ever bring any of my cats back here and definitely will tell anyone i know to come here. Im hoping my cat will make it through the night until i can bring her to a more professional vet as soon as the morning comes.

Expérience négative: Took my dog to the vet at 6:25 they did your pre check heart rate and thermometer and she said the technician will be in 30mins there was one person ahead of me (her words) I waited at 8 o’clock I went out to get a update the girl said give me 5 minutes I’m on the phone she never updated me then at 9 I left because they obviously weren’t worried about my dog just past 10 they call asking where I was I explained to the person on the phone the situation on how long we waited and the lack of care shown to my dog and the response I got was you should have told us you left and hung up on me

Expérience fantastique: My nine-year-old golden retriever while sleeping had a seizure. I’ve never experienced anything like this before seizure subsided I brought her into the animal hospital immediately at 1 o’clock in the morning. They were very busy triage. She was stable. They had more urgent pets to deal with. I waited patiently with my dog while waiting for the vet. They monitored took blood samples, so the vet would have the result when she was available. Diagnosis was thyroid issues. I was very impressed by the details in the post diagnosis write up. The tenderness and professionalism was outstanding We can’t thank you enough

Expérience négative: DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. We brought our cat in after a bee sting just to make sure he was okay. He was alert, alive, and walking when we arrived. He gets stressed at vet offices, so they chose to sedate him. They shaved his paw, found nothing, did no meaningful testing or treatment, and sent him home. When we got him back, he was dangerously over-sedated. He was completely unresponsive, unable to move, and his eyes were fully dilated. He sat in the same position all night with his eyes wide open. This was not normal sedation. By morning, he let out a terrifying scream, collapsed, and stopped responding. We rushed him to the emergency vet, but he died in my arms before we arrived. He could not be revived. The emergency clinic suggested an “underlying condition,” but he was fine before this visit and severely drugged afterward. We took our cat in for a minor concern and never brought him home alive. I truly believe he was overdosed. I am posting this so other pet owners don’t experience the same nightmare.

Expérience fantastique: I have been here a few times always utilizing them in an emergency situation. The staff have always been absolutely amazing and have alawys gone above and beyond. This is why I trust and go there. I have never had a bad experience. Even in the most recent situation of unfortunately losing one of our beloved fur family members. The staff handled the situation as gracefully as possible and made this heartbreaking unexpected experience as comfortable for us as they could. It was one of the hardest losses we experienced losing our Roxy. All the staff were so amazing from the second I called. Sympathetic and kind. It gave us peace knowing how well she was respected and taken care of in her last moments. Truly thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I am grateful we have such a compassionate service in our community!

Expérience fantastique: My dog had eaten something she wasn’t supposed to and the Vet and techs took care of my girl like she was known there forever. This was her first time there and was an emergency. Hopefully I never need them in the future (no more emergencies) but if I do, I have full faith in them.

Expérience fantastique: They were very polite from the time I entered the building. Everything was explained and all questions answered. I felt confident leaving my cat there.

Expérience fantastique: Very pleased. Communication very clear and vets call to check in, or schedule a follow up check if needed. Take their time and do not rush you. Calm and making clear decisions and plans they explain. Went on a Saturday and we did not wait very long. Staff answering phone professional and helpful. Thorough and informed treatment. Our cat is much better. The systems they have in place work to provide efficient care. It’s a relief.

Expérience fantastique: I brought my kitty Puma down to the clinic the morning of January 18th. She was in distress due to her colon being backed up. She was having difficulty pooping so the team examined her and gave her an enema to relieve the pressure. I took her to my local vet the next day and they did another enema to clear the rest of her out. Being a senior cat, the clinic handled her gently and gave her excellent care. I would like to thank the clinic for their wonderful and compassionate care.

She was fantastic, taking amazing care of our fur baby and giving him the attention and care he needed. We are so grateful and appreciative of the level of service & care that was given. Thank you

Expérience fantastique: It was my first time going to Walker Road Animal Hospital. I had an emergency situation in the wee hours of the morning. During the 48 hours there was constant communication. I felt they did everything that was needed to do. They spoke of the care and love of my pet, which kept me at ease. I am now monerating my pet and feel confident...with their help.

Expérience fantastique: I had to take my poor baby kitty who is extremely sick to Walker road Animal hospital. I literally dropped right in their laps with a sick cat who need an immediate attention and they were able to get her started right away on possible recovery right away even though she was in critical condition they did what they could say for but unfortunately I had to say goodbye to her they were very kind professional very understanding and I think some of the people there even cried they're caring professional and they do the right thing I was blessed to be able to have them take care of my baby in her final hours I was absolutely heartbroken when I left but I was confident that she was treated properly even after she passed

I'm thankful for all the care they put into my dog to make him feel safe and get better My dog is usually very reactive, but when I picked him up he seemed very happy with the staff that came over to see him as he was being discharged

Expérience fantastique: My ragdoll was coughing alot & I thought he may have pneumonia. I did not have an appt but just came in. I did have to wait but it was worth the wait to see if my ragdoll kitty was going to be ok. When they called my name they were so kind & told me my ragdoll will be ok. He just saw the triage so they did not charge me. Most places charge you for things that the animal doesn't even need. I trust they are not just after money it is the care of your pet. I will return if any of my cats need help.

Expérience fantastique: Very friendly staff. Great to see the care they take in your pets. While we were there a family came in with their dog having seizures and they jumped right in to action to help this dog and comfort the family

Expérience négative: We have had the worst experience with this place. Our dog was having a hard time breathing and we brought her in they immediately brought her back to assess her while we sat in the waiting room. We proceeded to wait for 3 hours before we heard anything about how she was doing. The vet then comes out to ask us what’s been going on with her after her struggling for 3 hours to breathe. Then telling us he wanted to do a blood test and xray to figure out what was happening. Which from what we were told they did a strip blood test when we first arrived. The vet never told us what these results were then when I asked he said well I can’t pull them up for you to see. After saying multiple times I wanted to see her blood results because we knew she already stage 2 kidney disease and that will help what our decision will be, he finally wrote the results down for us. We ended up making the decision to put our dog to sleep due to her expected quality of life. During this the IV they put in her to give her the medication infiltrated after he already injected all the medications and they clearly didn’t work he came back to put another IV in they had to poke her multiple times to finally get an IV that worked to give her the medications. So my questions were if she was struggling so bad to breathe and the most critical patient why did they not speak to us about her condition and instead let her suffer for 3 hours to breathe before speaking with us and giving us the option to do any testing. Then for the cherry on top they called us today to say that our dogs ashes were ready to pick up. We drove 30 minutes to pick up her ashes only to find out they called the wrong family and it was for a different MYA. So beware and makesure your bringing your right dog home! The only apology we got through this whole process was ‘sorry it was a mistake’. This is the only 24 hour vet and for that we are thankful however they need a better system and better employees to makesure this terrible care does not continue to happen!!!

Expérience fantastique: Dr. De Luca and Amanda were incredible. We had an emergency visit with our dog on Christmas Eve. They showed genuine care towards our situation.

Expérience négative: DO NOT GO HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Absolutely garbage. Waiting for hours and hours while others went before me for bullshit reasons. My dog has been actively gushing blood and the rude employees took low importance cases like ‘new cat food’ before us. Vet tech was absolutely kind and friendly. Reception was completely rude and straight up lying to us. When we finally left, the male receptionist with glasses and short hair gave me a dirty look as to say “sorry not sorry.” Complete and utter crap. Reading other reviews from this place are horrifying. Wish I could give 0 stars.

Expérience fantastique: My cat Odie is currently with Walker Rd as we had to bring him in due to vomiting, lethargy, and dehydration and several other issues. They have been nothing but compassionate, transparent, and so wonderful, with Odie, my husband and I. I have severe anxiety and Odie is quite literally my lifeline, my baby boy so this has been so unbearably hard to go through. I am just so grateful that Walker Rd is there for our boy and it helps ease my mind just a tad knowing that he's in good hands.

Expérience fantastique: The excellent staff has always taken very good care of my pet. They are very knowledgeable, compassionate and explain in detail what they have observed. The wait can be somewhat long at times, depending on the number of cases that are there before you, but it is so reassuring to know you have a place to go in the event of an emergency. You can definitely trust your loved ones with these folks.

Expérience fantastique: Referred for an echocardiogram from my regular clinic — they were able to get us in quickly and the staff and doctor were very respectful and kind! Thank you Dr Kaye for your thoroughness regarding my senior pup and thank you to Becca and Ashley for your kind words and extra attention you gave to sweet Lily!

Expérience positive: I was there for 4 hours and with the dr for no more than 15 minutes. I realize there was an emergency that took precidence over my dog but the wait was ridiculous .

Expérience fantastique: We took Jasper in on a Sunday. After the asssessment it was determined he required sedation to clean an absess that had erupted on his tail. The staff was freindly and informative. All of our qustions were answered and although vet bills are never inexpensive, the bill for a weekend emergency was a lot less than we had estimated. Expérience fantastique: My most recent experience at the Walker Road Emergency Clinic was wonderful! My Devon Rex BB was in labor, but no kittens were being born. BB''s single kitten was born at the clinic, while we were in one of the appointment rooms waiting to see the vet. I occupied the room I was in without any distractions for about 2 hours while my Mom BB delivered her single kitten. She also delivered an extra placenta which indicated to me that she likely had a second kitten who had passed away in utero. The new babies cord was bleeding, and the vet put in one small stitch in to stop the bleeding. I am not sure if an ultra sound is a typical part of the triage, but they did do a quick ultrasound to make certain there were no more kittens and there was not. Her body likely absorbed the missing kitten and they confirmed that with the ultrasound (which gave me great relief going forward). The kitten nursed and I was relieved to know that she got the very important colostrum (first milk) to provide her with moms protection. After this, my mama cat did not have milk! Well, I am 69 years old way past the newborn stage...But here I am for the first two weeks getting up warming or mixing the milk replacer and trying not to drown this tiny baby. I got an hour more sleep at 2 weeks, and it was every 3-4 hours till she was 8 weeks old then we started solids. My great Ma Ma cat BB was still letting her pretend to nurse, and she did all the grooming and potty duties! I am so grateful and indebted to this amazing by little Tuxedo girl BB. The clinic did just what we needed them to do. Cats will hold back delivery if they do not feel safe. No-one came in so they really know their stuff! I credit the Clinic with making this experience possible and I wanted to share the great results. Mabel is the much love companion of the two cutest brother and sister siblings and she has great parents to look out for her. Sharing joy is always worth the effort and Walker road played a big part in seeing that little Mabel made it safely into the world and into the loving arms of her beautiful family. Thanks!!! Expérience fantastique: We've never gone through this before. 1 minute our Ernie was happy, playing, eating, drinking and the next he was paralyzed from the waist down. Rushed to the vet... This vet... nothing could be done. He was in so much pain, he was so scared. The staff showed him so much compassion. We didn't have much but they weren't going to let him suffer any more. How quickly our lives were thrown into chaos, but the kind staff were a small calm in the storm. Thank you for not prolonging his pain. Thank you for not allowing this issue of cost get in the way of ending the suffering. Thank you for giving him dignity at the end of his life. He wasn't "just a cat" he was our son, and you treated him as such. Thank you

Expérience fantastique: I’ve brought all my dogs there for emergencies, Staff and Service are amazing!! Recently my Grandson had to put his first puppy to sleep, as after receiving first vaccination from her vet, she started having seizures and bringing up blood.. They were amazing with him!!

Expérience négative: I went to walker animal hospital as a walk in. I got there they checked my cat, they told me he is not blocked, and that because im I walk in I have to wait( which is fine). I was there from 8:30 am to 1:20. When the doctor walks in the first thing he talks about is that there is food outside to purchase that will help my cat, no letting me know what's going on, did not give me a direct answer he just said that there is food you could purchase that will help your cat and these medications to prevent him from a blockage. Im like ok soo does he have a urine infection? His reply was ughhh we just want to prevent the blockage, we cant tell if its a urine infection because his bladder is empty..I was waiting for a couple of hours the doctor could've suggested to let me try feeding him so if thats the excuse he would've been able to check. I give my cat his medications he wouldn't eat or drink after, once the medication wore off he was drinking and eating. I go this morning to check if he is blocked( there was a different doctor) , and they said he wasn't, but suggested that I could stay or go somewhere else to examine him my reply is why didnt this examination happen yesterday I was here for a couple of hours the assistants reply was i didn't tell you to stay here you could go somewhere else, I told her im not putting words in your mouth i didnt say you told me to do the examination here im just asking why wasn't this done yesterday she said every doctor does their different procedures. I asked my files to be transferred at 9 am, they said they will send it right away. I called at 6:42 and the files were not sent, now I have to wait till tomorrow for the new doctor at a different vet to go through the files. This is very sad because I took my cat there once before and I had a great experience. The front desk workers were amazing though, I appreciate their help.

Expérience négative: Stay away from this place, worst customer n vet service I’ve ever seen in my life. They kept trying to add on pills shots and medication besides the one our dog needed. Then when I said he’s not in pain as he’s been bouncing around playing with everyone the 4 hrs we were there I said does he look like he’s in pain. Absolutely disgusting listening to them push meds on people, can just imagine the elderly vulnerable what they get taken for by this place!!!! Should have their license revoked as this would be the last place I sent my enemies animals to SMH

From the vets to the techs, to the desk person, everyone was amazing. They took her right in and tried everything they could to help her. We will never forget what you did for our sweet girl. Expérience fantastique: Our Panda had multiple sezuires and we had to bring him after hours. From the receptionist and vet tech and Vet were professional but extremely sensitive to our needs and especially Panda. We left very satisfied but most of all our dog got so much relief. Thank you.

Expérience fantastique: Had to take our boy in for an after hours emergency and he unfortunately had to be euthanized. From the initial call to picking up his ashes less than a week later, the entire staff was fantastic and so compassionate to both my daughter and I. Rose was the one who took my initial call and she was beyond helpful and calming with the entire situation, a huge thank you for the kindness from all the staff on that night. They made a horrible situation a little bit easier.

Expérience fantastique: My cat had a urinary blockage on a Sunday and after going to lauzon clinic, where the vet was literally out to lunch, they told me I had to leave and could try walker road animal hospital. I brought Charlie in and they took EXCELLENT care of him. His condition was an expensive one that required nearly 3 days in the hospital but I could not have asked for better care. They kept in contact with me throughout. The vets themselves called me at least twice a day with updates. They were kind and caring and a pleasure to deal with.

Expérience fantastique: From the moment we walked through the door. They were so kind and caring. In a matter of minutes they took my Cat Bill in to triage to assess him. They reassured me that he was ok. Recommend what I should do to fit his problem. And I was on my way. I can’t say enough about everyone there.

Expérience fantastique: The Walker Road Animal Hospital vets and staff were amazing. I brought my dog in at 3am for an emergency. They quickly triaged her and began her treatment. She ended up having to stay more than 48hours, but I know she was well cared for while she received treatment. The staff allowed me to visit with her each day she was there and put up with me calling multiple times a day. I cannot express how appreciative I am for them and all that they do. They are busy and understaffed, dealing with the worst case scenario for pretty much every pet that comes through the door, and even in the face of all of that, they are still kind and caring.

Expérience fantastique: We took our guinea pig to the vet for what we thought was a UTI. We could tell she was in a lot of pain and were relieved when we found out that this vet was 24 hour and had a veterinarian that specialized in exotic pets. They took vitals very quickly and treated her as soon as they could after a few emergencies. They diagnosed her with urinary stones and were able to successfully remove them without any surgery! All the staff were super friendly and made us feel comfortable while we were waiting. We definitely recommend this vet!

Expérience fantastique: I've brought a lot of pets in to Walker road on their worst days after hours and I can't say I have ever been disappointed with the care. Sometimes you wait a long time like you would in the hospital ER because they are triaging patients. Totally understandable. I brought my dog in to induce vomitting recently because she got in to something toxic and they were very accommodating (she's not dog friendly.) they were great! Induced vomiting in the short window allowable.

Expérience fantastique: This place was great. I brought my cat in for an emergency and they were so caring and helped her right away. Very professional, place is super clean. The staff is so polite and took the time to explain and answer any and all my questions. My bill was much less then I expected so that was also a bonus Thank you again Walker Rd Animal Hospital.

Expérience fantastique: We rushed our 9week old puppy in after hours, and they were nothing short of amazing! They took care of him right away, and eased our minds without making me feel stupid! Definitely worth the drive from Kingsville!

Expérience positive: Went on a Sunday,holiday weekend, so understandably busy. After our dog was xrayed and being told the vet would be in to talk to us,nobody checked in us until 4.5 hrs later,when we were told she would be xrayed again. Half hour later a new Dr who came in finally spoke to us. Glad we were seen on such a busy day,but wish maybe at least once an hour somebody could at least check in on you,considering why our dog was brought in after the clinic said we should bring her in asap.

Expérience négative: UPDATE: this has now happened a second time to me. The avian vet made me sit there from 12:30-3pm only for a tech to tell me the avian vet is done for the day AT 3pm and that she left. My bird died because she didn’t see him, he just needed a dose of medicine. I came in with an emergency, my birds foot was starting to go septic and he needed treatment immediately. The exotic vets were both off that night and the current vet there refused to help him and instead left me with a styptic powder to clot the blood while I was balling my eyes out from feeling so helpless knowing he’s dying and in a ton of pain. I was left for 3h with my bird whose foot slowly turned more and more black because both exotic vets refused to come in due to the emergency. I ended up euthanizing my poor baby and walking out of there with a bird in a freezer bag and a broken heart. You can see his black septic spot in the pic.

Expérience fantastique: We had been to 2 different vets in London and they couldn’t help us. They recommended Guelph but I heard lots of great things about Walker Road Animal Hospital so we went there and they were amazing with our cat “Whiskey”. After 3 weeks we had to rush our cat back to the vet and they recommended London Regional but we opted to go back to Windsor. I’m the end we had to put Whiskey down but they did what they could and were so kind & caring. Thank you so much for that!

Expérience négative: Being this business is owned and run by a corporation it has made our experience there horrible. Excessive waiting times to even getting through triage never mind the time it takes after you are taken into a treatment room. On average 4+ hours per visit with no relief of issues. Cost is over the top at the expense of the pets care!! Sad to see it's run just like our human hospitals. Don't know how workers there justify there choice job duties. Corporate greed are financially killing our pets and compassion is nill and void.Pathetic at best.

Expérience négative: Don't go unless you're rich!!! Terrible service.They only care about overcharging you here. They will treat you horribly, and they charge thousands more than other places. Numbers you can't afford. I've checked their prices and for what we needed done they were the most expensive in two provinces. Can't afford them? They'll call animal control on you to try to get you in trouble.Because you have a pet, that's hurt and don't have the money to spend at this place.

Expérience fantastique: Every single staff member was so friendly and caring even new ones after shift change. This was my second experience here, the first being boxing day 2023 when I had to euthanize my pet rat. The staff adored her and were so compassionate to even the smallest animal. This time was with our puppy. I've heard complaints that the wait can be long but it's just like our hospital ER's. If you wait awhile that's a good thing because it means your animal isn't critical. They triage and will give meds to help keep patients comfortable which helped our girl a ton! She left feeling much better. Very grateful to be one of the family's that leaves there happy, as there are many who sadly don't. ❤️‍

Expérience fantastique: October 5 We took our dog Gizmo to Walker Road Animal Hospital, and I can’t say enough good things about the experience. Everyone there was extremely professional, kind, and compassionate. A huge shout-out to the receptionist who greeted us with patience and understanding, and to the vet who handled Gizmo so gently. Gizmo is a 15-year-old Shorkie who gets anxious very easily, but they made him feel safe and cared for. I also want to recognize the wonderful team member who shaved and cleaned his tail area and gathered information before the vet came in — she was incredibly gentle and thoughtful. These are the kind of people who stay calm, caring, and collected in stressful situations, and they truly deserve to be recognized for it. Thank you all for the exceptional care you gave our boy. ❤️

Expérience fantastique: Been here multiple times with 3 of my dogs and I’ve never had a problem here, always left with all our questions answered and were given good care for our pups. I came in one time for my boxer that had been stung by a wasp and was having a bad allergic reaction and we were brought in and seen right away. I would recommend coming here.

Expérience fantastique: Our 12 male golden doodle had a serious medical issue on Friday at 9pm. This Vet hospital is open 24 hours a day which ive never used before. It’s an understatement how thankful we are that this place is operational 24 hours a day and took us in as soon as they could. Every team member we have encountered on this weekend journey trying to keep our boy alive has been great to deal with. We’ve come across 3 different Doc’s, Dr. Parent, 2nd Doc i can remember his name but he was great and the amazing Dr Hilton who has not given up troubleshooting for him. Expérience négative: I’ve had 5 months to ponder whether or not to write this review. I’ve decided to go ahead because I feel it’s important. It’s going to be long, but I feel the need to be thorough and explain every detail. May 5-25 my 12 yo 8lb Chihuahua had an attack of pancreatitis. It was very late in the day so her usual vet couldn’t see her, I rushed her to Walker Emergency. She has never been the same since that day. She’s never been horrified to go to the vets before but now she is, and now has repeated flareups of a neck injury she didn’t have before. During the visit there were multiple technicians that would come in and —not gently— take her into the back for tests. There was blood work and an x-ray. I know that they muzzled her because there was a banded mark across the top of her nose and a sore abrasion. My little girl would never bite unless she is horrified, and if I would have been consulted if they could put a muzzle on her, I would have said no. If they would have treated her with gentle care, no muzzle would have been needed. Because of the behavioural changes in her since then, I know that whatever went on in the back during testing was rough, abrupt, and forceful enough to the point that it caused irreversible trauma in her, and now after several very painful flareups and visits to her regular doctor a neck injury that is proving to be chronic. At this point in my dog‘s life and having had dogs for many years before her, I now have an arsenal of treatments on hand and the trust of my regular vet that in the event of an emergency, I can go ahead and make a judgement call on her treatment until I can get her to see them. I share that information because —and my vet is aware of this—I will never under any circumstances bring my dog to Walker Emergency ever again. That sounds like an extreme reaction, but here are my reasons and I do believe they are extreme reasons: 1. A previous dog I had was taken into Walker Emergency in June 2013 after having eaten a toxic lawn mushroom. I was told there are no toxic mushrooms in the area and that because she had already vomited she would be fine. She died in my arms of that very same hospital 72 hours later of liver failure. This probably could’ve been prevented if they would’ve given her a charcoal treatment during her first visit. 2. During Covid, I brought in my current Chihuahua when she showed signs of being extremely ill. Their policy of leashing dogs to a table in the absolutely filthy entranceway (with urine and excrement) and making me leave her before they came into retrieve her caused her absolute terror. I was then called and told it would be 4 to 6 hours before they could examine her. I told them to bring her back out and my regular vet was amazing to squeeze her in to see her within the same hour. I mentioned this as a complaint because my regular vet would have a masked technician come outside to very gently retrieve the pet from me while I was masked. Walker Emergency’s way of retrieving pets at that time was cruel, disgusting and frightening to both pet and pet owner. This complaint is as I watch over my little Chihuahua again experiencing another painful flareup from the injuries she received at WE. I can’t prove they caused the injuries, but she didn’t have the neck problems before the visit, there were painful muzzle marks over her nose when she came out, and her behavioural changes and trauma from that day on proved to me that something very frightening happened to her beyond the examination door on that day that has changed her life in terribly negative ways. Obviously there are times when Emergency care is necessary, like in the event of a dog attack or a traffic accident, but if there is any way, you can wait a few hours to get your pet to see your regular vet, do so. Walker Emergency is not a gentle, caring place. They have caused me immeasurable grief with the death of my previous dog, and a lot of fear, pain and suffering of my current little girl. There’s no way I’ll ever step foot in there again.

Expérience fantastique: My puppy had a medical emergency in the middle of the night. We went in and they triaged her immediately and kept her for observation and treatment for 12 hours. The staff is absolutely impeccable, kind, compassionate, sensitive and empathetic. I recommend them 100%! They even have a feline babysitter on site

After 2 negative experiences in less than 5 years, and seeing some of these reviews I decided to get my story out here. #1: one night my then 11yr old lab began experiencing vaginal discharge. This was on a weekend so our usual vet was closed. A vet group I’m in on Facebook indicated it could be a medical emergency. My town doesn’t have an emergency vet, so this place is closest. I called to confirm they were open, told them what was going on. They agreed it was an emergency and asked what time we’d be coming so they could be ready. We got there, could see one other person in the lobby. This was Covid times (2021) so I was told we couldn’t come in due to social distancing rules and would need to wait in my car. There was plenty of room to sit spaced out like other places do, but not wanting to be completely barred entry I complied. Apparently this wasn’t an emergency like they said, because we waited 2 hours in the car. Not a single person came or went during this time. My dog was getting stressed and antsy being in the car. I called, asked for an estimate of when we would be seen. I was told we were next in line but no time frame was given. I decided I didn’t want to stress my dog any more and we left. We got her to our vet first thing that Monday. She was diagnosed with pyometra and in surgery that afternoon. Her uterus was full of pus, weighing 3lbs. The vet was surprised she survived the weekend. #2: Same dog, now 14. Out of the blue she sneezed and out came a large blood clot, followed by a nose bleed. Not gushing, but dripping pretty steadily. I tried ice, tried keeping her calm to get it to clot. Nothing worked. Concerned because it wasn’t stopping I chose to make the trip to these guys. It’s not covid times so surely things must be better, right? No.. We arrive, there’s a guy with his dog in the waiting room, and another person in one of the exam rooms (watched someone enter the room to speak with them). The guy in the waiting room mentioned he was just waiting to hear the results of blood work. Once we registered and sat down I noticed how truly dirty the place was. Dried dog pee on the floor, looks like nothing had been wiped down in a long time. After an hour of waiting we’re finally brought to a room. A while later who I’m assuming was a vet tech (she never mentioned her title) came in to get a story to relay to the vet. She then left. We stayed in that room for another hour. It was getting stifling hot, my dog was anxious because she didn’t recognize any of the smells and because of how warm it was. She was panting like crazy. I decided to go out to the waiting room where it was cooler. I let the receptionist know. She made a call (to the back?) letting them know that we had moved. Based on her end of the conversation I’m led to believe they forgot about us. One new person had arrived and from my new spot in the waiting room I could see into the back. About 5 people were seen leaning against a counter drinking coffee. 30 minutes go by, I ask the receptionist if she knows how much longer. I’m told it’s shift change but we’re first on the list. I can still see some people just hanging out in the back chatting and leaning on the counters. After no movement for another 15 minutes, and with the bleeding slowing down, I left without saying a word. Not sure if I needed to pay for the weight and temperature they took, and to be honest I really don’t care. Got into my vet, we were given epi to control any future bleeds and she has an appointment scheduled to investigate a potential tooth abscess that’s made its way to her sinus, or a potential tumor. After reading these reviews I’m actually grateful that they lack consideration and customer service skills. Otherwise I could have ended up with medication or even a procedure that harmed her.

Expérience fantastique: When my pug, Stella, woke up on a Saturday and she was showing signs of a pinched nerve in her back, I was a bit nervous because our veterinarian is closed on the weekend. But I am glad I brought her in to Walker Road Animal Hospital. They were kind and professional and found us a spot to wait after triage so she could rest while we waited. The vet tech was wonderful and took the time to take a detailed history and make sure Stella was comfortable. Dr. Singh provided a comprehensive medical exam and explained his prognosis and treatment plan and what next steps to connect with our veterinarian in the future might be. Happy to say that Stella is resting comfortably thanks to their care and healing. Great service and wonderful staff !

From the front desk clerk ( I believe her name was Rylie) The tech Meghan and the vet Dr.Hilton, I knew my dog was in great hands. We were here for about 10 hrs and were given a blanket, water and a phone charger throughout the visit. They had signs to notify patients of the staffing shortages they are facing and I can sympathize as I work in the ER, their patients may not be people but they sure do treat them like people while dealing with the same environment that healthcare is facing. The staff were kind, efficient and compassionate. They let us know ahead of time of any costs associated with the visit and were incredibly thorough. This is the place you want to take your animal to whether it’s an urgent matter or you’re looking for a new vet. Thank you so very much for your care it is greatly appreciated!

Expérience fantastique: Dr's and Staff were amazing. Hdd to recently put down our 6 year old dog. They were extremely sensitive and gave lots of time and space to enjoy some final moments. They explained the process and gave time to grieve and be with our dog as long as needed. Absolutely appreciate the care and compassion they had. A few days later I received a card handwritten in the mail giving their sympathies and support - INCREDIBLE! Make a world of difference when you're really hurting and they are there every step of the way supporting and helping you through the greiving process. Highly recommend as a vet. While I was there the phones were off the hook also and they did everything they could ot keep up. Hardworking and a ton of great staff.

Really had no clue it was as serious as it was but, once they looked her over we discovered she was in worse condition than originally thought and needed immediate attention. The staff there were absolutely amazing! They took care of my little Daisy and she's now well on her way to a full recovery. I am absolutely pleased with just how well everything went, especially considering that it was already a very stressful time for myself, my family and, Daisy. I brought my cat in for emergency care, and she stayed for 48 hours under their supervision. From the moment we arrived, the entire team treated both of us with kindness, patience, and professionalism. They took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of my (many!) questions without making me feel rushed, and most importantly, gave my cat the gentle, expert care she needed during a really scary time. It was clear they weren’t just doing a job they genuinely cared. Even though my cat was diagnosed with advanced kidney disease, the staff made sure she was comfortable, monitored her closely, and gave me realistic, hopeful guidance about next steps. Over the course of two days, he had been vomiting, not eating or drinking, had no bowel movements, displayed a distended abdomen, and appeared increasingly lethargic. Concerned for his health, I contacted the clinic, and after being advised to bring him in, I made the hour-long drive, as they were the only facility available on the weekend. Upon arrival, I was impressed with the professionalism and kindness of the front desk staff, particularly Leanne, who was welcoming and compassionate. The veterinary technicians were equally courteous and attentive during the intake process and while preparing my cat for diagnostic procedures. My cat was sedated for X-rays and blood work, and I was prepared for the associated costs, knowing the nature of emergency care. However, my consultation with the attending veterinarian (I believe his name was Dr. Bawaja) left me quite concerned. While he was polite, his clinical approach raised several red flags. He suggested that a foreign body bowel obstruction was likely, based on gas distribution seen in the X-rays, though he acknowledged uncertainty. When I inquired about alternative diagnoses—such as pancreatitis—he dismissed them as difficult to confirm. At that point, I was presented with two options: a $9,998 exploratory surgery or euthanasia. I was taken aback by the limited scope of options and the lack of a more conservative, stepwise approach. When I questioned the surgery further, the vet confirmed that it would be exploratory in nature, as there was no definitive evidence of an obstruction. Despite this uncertainty, he strongly recommended proceeding with the operation. I explained that the cost made surgery unfeasible for us, and that I wished to explore less invasive options before considering euthanasia. I requested an overnight stay for IV fluids and supportive care, hoping this might improve his condition. Initially, the vet was skeptical, stating he did not expect this to change the outcome, but ultimately agreed after my insistence. I was told I would receive text updates overnight, but none were provided. I called at 8:00 a.m. the next day for an update and was told the vet would call me within two hours. I had to follow up again at 11:30 a.m. before finally receiving a call from a different veterinarian, who also suspected an obstruction. I picked up my cat that afternoon, and while still uncomfortable, he had eaten a small amount and was urinating normally. Upon returning home, I continued monitoring him and scheduled an appointment with my regular veterinarian in Chatham the following morning. My vet was very reassuring, noting his improved energy levels and appetite. She administered a steroid injection and prescribed high-energy, easily digestible food. She suspected irritable bowel syndrome rather than an obstruction. Within hours, my cat had a normal bowel movement and began recovering rapidly. He is now back to his normal, healthy self. I’m sharing this experience because I believe that, had I not had a medical background or trusted my instincts, my cat might not have survived. I am grateful that I insisted on supportive care and sought a second opinion. While I appreciate the efforts of the front-line staff and veterinary technicians at Walker Road Animal Hospital, I was deeply disappointed by the limited treatment options presented and the pressure placed on me to make a life-or-death decision without clearer diagnostic certainty. The overnight stay at Walker Road cost $2,095. The follow-up visit and treatment at my regular vet cost $305—and ultimately saved my cat’s life. Please advocate for your pets. Ask questions. Trust your instincts.

Expérience positive: My dog was seen for triage fast but then i waited 5 hours and felt completely ignored by the staff. I had to ask for water for my dog who was in pain. We sat with nobody there in the waiting room for two hours. We never got a room, every other animal that came in was given a room to see the vet except us. We stayed until 2am and they finally told us she could stay the night and we could leave. It just seemed like most of the staff was nice but didn’t care about my dog at all.

The techs were there to triage and they were caring as was reception. There was a bit of a wait which is expected and was communicated that animals in serious peril are attended to on a priority basis. Regardless, I was thanked for being so patient by the doctor. I went home with my girl, antibiotics, painkillers and special food for the next three days. There was even a follow up call as well just to ensure she was on the mend. I was worried to bring my pet to a clinic unfamiliar with her, but I would highly recommend this after hour clinic. Thank you for helping us!

The dog came out of nowhere and grabbed Lilly out of my wife’s hands and bit our 16 year old Lilly.Now we are Orr to Walker Road Animal Hospital right from the time we walked in to hospital from the young lady at the front desk to the ladies that got Lilly ready to the vet that did the draining of the wound and our awesome instructions for her care in my book they are a 5 plus.its been a couple days and Lilly is getting ack to normal A BIG THANK YOU THE HARRISON’S

Walked me through both life-threatening (dark chocolate ingestion) and regular (skin infection) issues while detailing the recommended plan. As this is a hospital with after hours care, the wait can be long but they gave us an alternative to use a virtual vet after ensuring that it was safe for our dog to do so. They saved us a lot of waiting time and money. Great animal hospital!

Expérience négative: We arrived for an urgent consultation as my dog was unable to stand or walk, repeatedly falling over. After completing the triage process, we were told we would be seeing a vet. However, we ended up waiting for an hour and a half without any updates or information regarding the wait time or our position in the queue. When I approached a staff member to ask for an update, I was told that we were fourth in line based on priority. While I understand that cases are seen in order of urgency, what was unacceptable was the complete lack of communication during that entire period. My dog was clearly in distress, and the long, uncertain wait caused him to become increasingly anxious. Due to the circumstances, we ultimately had to leave without being seen.

It was not my first time here as they have helped us in the past as well. Our regular vet was not in town, and the staff here really stepped it up for Rusty's final moments. They understood my concerns and made sure we left with his unexpected illness addressed. They saw us as quickly as possible. I felt the wait was reasonable and all the pets seemed to be addressed based on urgency of issue. I hope I never have to go back but will choose them if I do.
