Fantastic experience: My English Bulldog Pepper has received excellent care at Guelph Animal Hospital. The staff are excellent and we appreciate how caring and sensitive they are with my very anxious little fur baby. She had BOAS surgery to help her breathing and she sailed through the surgery and recovery. Because of the care and skill of Dr. Renee Fleming, my baby enjoys a much higher quality of life and for that we are grateful. Thank you so much.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience at Guelph Animal Hospital with Dr. Flemming. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff were friendly and attentive. The vet tech took the time to get to know me, Tuna, and our situation, which immediately made the visit feel very personal and supportive. We came in to explore medication options to help Tuna with her anxiety, following a recommendation from our dog trainer. What I really appreciated was how thoughtful the team was about the whole approach. They took the time to understand what we were already doing to support Tuna and made sure we weren’t just looking at medication as the only solution. It felt like a very balanced, responsible conversation focused on what would genuinely help her. Dr. Flemming was beyond personable. She sat on the floor with Tuna and interacted with her in such a calm, caring way. It was clear she genuinely cared about how Tuna was doing and about finding the best way to support her. I honestly have never felt this cared for by a vet before. The entire experience felt compassionate, thoughtful, and collaborative. I’m really grateful to have found Dr. Flemming and the team at Guelph Animal Hospital. Highly recommend trusting them to support your pets!

Fantastic experience: Amazing care from everyone here! Just got a new puppy and they were wonderful with getting us on the right track. They were so good with him, making sure he wasn't overwhelmed, and the first experience was a great one! My visit was also one of the most affordable visits I've ever had. Will be recommending them to everyone that I know!

Fantastic experience: The GAH has been caring for my dogs for several years. They are amazing! It is easy to get an appointment that fits my schedule and needs. The best thing is how much the GAH Team cares about my dogs - they know their names, they are patient, gentle and sweet, and I always feel that they have our best interests at heart when we develop their plan of care.

Fantastic experience: I had to go out of my way to come here for an implant for my extremely senior ferret as no one local had it, but Dr. Fleming was extremely lovely and kind as were all the reception staff. Procedure was done in under a minute and my girl barely noticed (with a little help from a treat). Thanks all!

Fantastic experience: Wonderful clinic and staff. The front end team is amazing. Always so friendly and kind. They great you with a smile everytime. Dr Smolkin is wonderful as well. So kind, empathetic and an extremely knowledgeable veterinarian. I have trusted her with the care of three of my pets now. The technicians are always so friendly and show their love for pets everyday.

Negative experience: I wish i could give this place 0 star for what happened to my cat. We took our cat to the vet because the lump under his chin which we thought it was either tooth problem or abscess. Within just a second they checked on my cat and decided to tell us it was Bone Cancer and started talking about quality of life. Then suggested us to do biopsy which would costs 3k. Wow. Decided to take my cat to another vet and it was just an abscess. Actually last year my cat also experienced the abscess, we took him here and after everything, we paid 2k. We thought it was fair price but seems like we were wrong. Avoid this place for your own good folks. For your loved pets. We deserve better than this. Update: got a chance to discuss with them but what a waste of my time. Horrible service. They won’t admit anything but keep twisting the truth.

Fantastic experience: Guelph Animal Hospital was able to see us immediately for an injury to our cat. Dr. Joey was great along with the techs who assisted, all of whom provided great care. Will be back!

Negative experience: Took our cat in for what I thought could be either a tooth issue or an abscess. They quickly went to probable bone cancer and spoke of quality of life. I did receive pain medicine and then after 2 days of more facial swelling we took Him to another vet whom quickly determined it was an abscess and drained it and gave him antibiotics and Pluto felt better within hours!!! It was a terrible week for Pluto in such pain. No one has called to even check up on Him.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They remember my dog when I come in and are supportive of my bringing her in when I just need to pick up her flea and tick so she knows it's not a scary place to go. I really appreciate that they texted me to keep me updated during her spay, and that I was able to text them photos of her incision as she healed. I never feel rushed in or out which I appreciate, and they are always open to my questions and I am pleased with the way they work alongside my dog. Sage knows she always gets treats from the veterinary and reception staff which I really appreciate! Very very pleased to have my dog as a patient here.

Fantastic experience: If you’re looking for a clinic that puts the animal first, you found the right place. They’re understanding, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Fantastic experience: Very very compassionate staff, we had to take our puppy for the first time to the ER at Guelph and I can’t thank the overnight Vet and staff enough for laying it out for me and keeping Jackie comfortable even though he was very, very anxious and sick. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Staff are extremely knowledgeable and professional. They are always friendly to pets and pet owners and very accommodating to our scheduling needs. This has been the only vet my cat has gone to since we got her. I highly recommend getting the kitten package if you are getting a new pet. Totally worth it.

Fantastic experience: Everyone from the front desk staff, to the technicians, to the doctors at Guelph Animal Hospital is absolutely incredible. Our cat went through a series of health issues this summer, and the team was there every step of the way. We were able to get him seen on short notice for an emergency, and get additional support and answers via calls, texts and emails - communication was quick and consistent, and we never felt like a burden. We were obviously incredibly anxious about a surgery that the little guy had to have, but Dr. Amanda was a godsend - kind, compassionate, and professional. We can't thank everyone enough, and would 100% recommend Guelph Animal Hospital to friends and family.

Negative experience: My rabbit might have still been alive if it wasn’t for the carelessness of their staff. Not sure how they are with dogs or cats, but if you have a rabbit I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. After forgetting to put lubricant in my rabbits eyes during surgery, they charged us for the eyedrops after he got ulcers in his eyes. Charged us, for their mistake. Wait times are insane, my rabbit was always in complete stress waiting for 30 mins every single time. 0 accommodations for such tiny animals, having them high up on metal tables with no regard for their instincts or weariness.

Fantastic experience: We had a 10 day old mini pony that needed immediate care. The staff and team did everything they could for our little guy (Whiskey) He was there for a few days and this morning he past away. Thankfully the team was there for him. We at Behind the Bit Equestrian are so very greatful for everything they did to help him.

Fantastic experience: I won't go to any other vets now. The compassionate care provided here is exceptional. Not only for the animals but the owners as well. My dog had a medical emergency and all the staff were so amazing through the whole ordeal. Even when I became frustrated and difficult to deal with, they were friendly and understanding and made it so much easier during a very turbulent time.

Fantastic experience: I had to bring my dog to Guelph animal hospital after a Sunday morning encounter with a porcupine the staff from the receptionists to the doctor treated us with respect and compassion while there and have been very thorough in checking in to make sure the healing is going well.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous clinic with caring, knowledgeable staff who take the time to really get to know your pet thoroughly. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: My cat was experiencing a health emergency early in the morning and the staff at Guelph Animal Hospital were able to accommodate us immediately. After taking a look at Sam and discussing our options we quickly realized he would have to be put down. The vet took the time to educated us and thoroughly take us through the next steps. They acted quickly to minimize his distress and thankfully we were able to say our goodbyes before he passed away. I really appreciated the compassion and care from all the staff, especially while dealing with what was a very sudden and traumatic situation for me.

Fantastic experience: We have been using the Vet services at Guelph Animal Hospital for over 10 years and have always been more than pleased with them. My dog Tucker recently has had a very sore tummy and we are confident that the medication will help heal the inflammation. They are very good at follow up after visits. Highly recommend their services whether you have a cat or dog.

Positive experience: Great compassionate team! We received a same day appointment and had our cat looked at. He needed x-rays that determined a broken leg. The team continued to seek out an orthopedic vet that could fix the break at a reasonable cost. I'm very grateful for Guelph Animal Clinic and all the help they gave us. I gave 4 stars only because their prices are higher than a lot of other places.

Fantastic experience: Our first experience with Guelph Animal Hospital was a Sunday morning as our cat became very ill suddenly and the clinic we had used previously was not opened on Sundays. They were extremely courteous and provided excellent care to our old boy, Major, who ended up requiring at the minimum a blood transfusion. As it was so late in the day we had a referral to OVC for the next morning. He died at home that night. Upon hearing the news, everyone at the clinic was stunned and couldn't believe it. On a happier note, we adopted a new fellow, Dallas and used them as our clinic of choice during his adoption process. He had his wellness check up this week and again, we received excellent care from the technician and veterinarian we saw and the office staff are amazing. I would highly recommend this clinic if looking for a new veterinarian or are a first time pet owner. In my opinion you won't be disappointed. Everyone we have met have been very nice people and I believe that is a credit to the hiring practices of the management. Two thumbs up from this family.

Fantastic experience: We love the staff at Guelph Animal Hospital! We had a bishop poo that passed away in 2022 and a few months later, we adopted Pippy. Although we don't live close to the hospital, we chose to take Pippy there. The staff is very kind, knowledgeable and try to accommodate our schedule when we have to take Pippy there. We also love their integrative approach!

Fantastic experience: GAH is amazing!! I called just before they closed today about my pet mouse I thought I was going to need to euthanize and they accommodated me quickly and with empathy. Dr. Fleming is fantastic, she talked to me about options and we ended up trying some medications. 100% would recommend this clinic to any owner looking for a compassionate team to care for their pets big or small. Fantastic experience: I've been going to GAH since I got Rosie in summer 2021. They are amazing! Every last person I've encountered, from front desk staff, to vet techs and the veterinarians, have been compassionate, patient, and above all else, genuine in their care for my sweet dog.

Fantastic experience: Our experience of over 25 years has been nothing but top notch. For us this is not a one or two time experience but a lifetime of service provided for our friends who have mostly been rescues requiring a wide variety of experience to meet their individual needs. The Doctors and staff have maintained not only a high level of service but trust in the care they have given us and our friends. What more can anyone ask for.

Negative experience: The Guelph Animal Hospital on Gordon Street charged us five times what we paid at another Guelph vet for our dog's meds. We could no longer afford to use this vet.

Fantastic experience: We brought our 7 month old cat in after a spay that didn't go so great at another clinic. Dr. Fleming and staff were so amazing and personal with us, and very empathetic! I can thank them enough for helping to get our girl back on track! Will definitely be going back here. Remember, you get what you pay for. They may be a little pricier, but it’s for good reason.

Fantastic experience: My Boston Terrier had a surgery today at Guelph Animal Hospital to help his breathing. I knew he was in good hands with Dr. Renee Fleming as I heard so many good things about her! The communication from her team as well as herself during and after the surgery was appreciated and top notch. Hands down the best vet I have been to. Thank you GAH!

Negative experience: Much like others before me, the service was very inconsistent. Location was great for us, prices were more expensive than others but we stuck with them for a number of years. Unfortunately, when my dog was hurt by another dog, that's when we saw their true colours. We showed up right as they opened and were told "if sutures are needed, 1 is the earliest, if not, maybe 11" but when we asked if they could recommend another vet to at least call, suddenly they could take her in right away. 2 hours and $900 later, we walked out feeling awful about their lack of empathy and urgency until it came down to money potentially going elsewhere. Fast forward to a year or so later, after finding out our vaccines were overdue from another vet, we check their prices and after they had requests for medical records, we received an email stating we'd no longer be welcome there. Good riddance, we had no intentions of returning to this awful place and am happy with our new vet. Look elsewhere for folks who actually care about your pet and not just the bottom line $.

Fantastic experience: Best vet I’ve been to. My cats condition went undiagnosed and untreated at other vets for two years until I went to GAH. They immediately started testing and medication trials and she was diagnosed after her second appointment. Her quality of life has greatly increased thanks to their expertise. I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: My cat developed an abcess which burst suddenly. I was able to visit the clinic on short notice on a Sunday and he received kind and gentle care and is all fixed up!

Fantastic experience: The staff at GAH are the reason we drive from Burlington for pet care. Their knowledge, and care for patients, is exceptional. Our first family pet came to us with a congenital condition that required testing for diagnosis, monitoring and prognosis. Throughout the process, staff explained everything in detail, answering all of our family’s questions - kids questions included . We cannot thank GAH enough for their care that ensured she lived the best life she could, in the time she had. Fantastic experience: Guelph animal hospital is my go to place. I live in east Brampton but for my fur babies needs I make my trip to them. The staff is amazing and very professional and courteous. My puppy has been seeing Dr Sherry since he was a puppy now he is 8yrs old. She was at a different hospital and then moved to Guelph Animal Hospital so we decided to give it a shot. I am glad that I made the move. These guys have been very good to me and my pup. He loves going there. As soon as I turn on the street he starts squeaking in excitement and just wants to get out as soon as I get out of the car. He goes in and get and give alot of lovies. I hope my review helps other people make a decision. I would highly recommend this hospital.

Fantastic experience: We recently lost our beloved 16-year-old cockapoo Mika. We were 3-hours away at our cottage and found our little boy having trouble breathing throughout the night. We called the hospital on our way home the next day. The lady on the phone spent great deal of time asking questions, checking his medical records and understanding his issues. Although all doctors were booked, she arranged a technician to see him as soon as we got there. From the moment we walked in, we felt the warmth and kindness from the stuff (as always). After x-ray, Dr. Sherry came in and explained the severity of his conditions and the options we had. Although we were heart-broken and shocked as we didn’t expect to lose him that day, the compassion, knowledge and professionalism the entire team have shown us made it easier. They waited for our daughter and son-in-law to come. We had plenty of time to say goodbye to him in a private room and to consider burial options (that was explained to us clearly). We will never forget the love they showed Mika and their kindness towards us. We are new to Guelph and have only visited GAH a few times. Every visit was positive. This is by far the best animal hospital we have ever been to. The entire team there, doctors, technicians, and receptionists have been absolutely the best. We will recommend them in a heart beat and will be there when we get our next dog! Thank you, GAH.

Fantastic experience: We have only ever had positive experiences with Guelph Animal Hospital over the past 5 years. Moreover, when our beloved boy, a 7 year old Australian Shepherd, suddenly fell ill; the staff were so incredibly accommodating and compassionate. Dr. Smolkin was so helpful and kind.

Fantastic experience: An absolutely wonderful experience with Jake's neuter. The preop instructions were clear. Everything was well explained, and Jake was treated like family. His post op instructions were clear and their communication with me by phone throughout the day was wonderful. I had no concerns about leaving Jake in their care. He is always treated so well!

Positive experience: We had a great experience! All of the staff are very knowledgeable and accommodating. They answered all of my questions and put me at ease about the care and needs of my new puppy. The vet we saw has the same breed of dog as I do so was very helpful with extra hints for care and things to watch out for.

Fantastic experience: Every member of the team showed a great amount of care for my pet. They spent a great deal of time helping me understand the health issues my dog was facing .They respected my budget constraints and helped find alternative treatments for my senior dog when necessary, with his well being in mind. Overall, had a great experience and will continue my dog's treatment here.

Fantastic experience: Very caring staff - they have been caring for 2 dogs thus far and I have never had an issue with the quality of care and service. While there are less expensive clinics, I would bring my dogs here every time because of how much care and consideration the staff has given both my babies. :D

Fantastic experience: Had an amazing experience today. We called around 9:30am about our dog suffering from some pains and they were able to get us in 30mins later! They were very friendly and helpful, definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: I cannot thank Dr. Fleming, all of the vet techs and the rest of her team enough. We went here on a Sunday when our regular vet was closed and they were able to squeeze us in. Everybody was so incredibly kind and I felt so safe with our little dog in their hands. They were upfront with the cost of each test and procedure they felt was necessary to care for our dog. Again, a truly wonderful experience despite being worried for our ill dog.

They really do care and treat my boy as I would..The only thing that does frustrate my wife and I is that seems like every visit we have to see someone new. What we would love to see is when I call or email to book, I can request to see the same doctor, I believe this helps form a relationship better with us and with the pet. He is stressed enough when he has to go and would be better if he sees the same person every time. I requested in our visit this past weekend to have Dr. Flemming and nothing was ever communicated back that it wouldn't be her. No concerns at all with who we seen, it's just a preference of ours. In the future if the doctor is unavailable on the date we need, please let me know and I will wait if possible to see who we would like to see. Thanks again for the great service.

Fantastic experience: I had to make the impossible decision to put my beloved, 20 year old cat, Pedro, down, and every single staff member was so compassionate and kind. They made the process as easy as possible and allowed me to spend as much time as I needed with my boy. They went above and beyond in every way possible and I will never forget their kindness towards me, but also the love they showed Pedro before he passed.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing. Thr front desk staff were so sweet and explained everything to the assistant and vet themselves explain everything, break down costs, reasons why things need to be done etc. Would definitely recommend everyone bringing their pets here!!!

Fantastic experience: I love this clinic! My dog is very anxious about vet visits and the staff at GAH are extremely accommodating. We've only had the pleasure to see Dr. Sherry Ekstrom and Jackie Haas and they are awesome!

Negative experience: Dr. Sherry Ekstrom & Dr. Jen Perret were lovely to deal with and at the end I would only see them. None of this is reflective of their care. Another review already said it best: "The inconsistency with the Doctor to patient care is so terrible. We were yo yoed back and forth with medical instruction between reception staff and Doctors." I think because the staff is so large, it's like playing a never ending game of broken telephone, and when you have a sick animal it makes things really frustrating. Medication was a huge struggle. At one point we had a dog on a few meds -- 3 I think -- and getting them refilled was always a chore. I would call in and ask for a refill, before I ran out since they have a 3 day refill period, and they would ask me what I needed refilled. I would tell them the same as last time please, and they would always ask *me* for the names and doses of the meds. It seems odd to me that I am supposed to tell them the meds I need and the dose for my animal, when in contrast, I was not able to pick up flea/tick meds for dog without bringing them in for a weight for concern of the wrong dose. To compound on that, nearly every time we would pick up the meds there was an issue. Not enough meds to fill it, miscommunication to fill some of the prescriptions, etc. Once, there was a miscommunication to fill 2/3 of the meds (I asked upon pickup how we could do better ordering them, and the reception said it was "very clear, it just got missed"). Later, I got an email about how the meds "will be continued as it's not a medication that can stop abruptly" -- yes, I know, which is why we ordered a refill... but for some reason they accused us of trying to stop the meds abruptly, when it was their communication error for not refilling it, and I had to return a different day to pick up the rest of the meds. I responded to the email letting them know as much and was told that they would get back to me about it once the doctor was in again. They never followed up. It was a stressful time, and being accused of stoping meds when it was their error in the first place, with no apology or follow up, was unkind. Ah, and to close out the meds -- the dispensing fee seemed to be ~30$ for the 2 pills I got the last time I went. I absolutely understand the need for this fee, and I have never encountered one so high before GAH. The medication itself tends to be affordable for a lot of things, it's the dispensing fee that rockets the price up.

Fantastic experience: Every staff member at Guelph Animal Hospital was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. You could actually hear the smiles in their voices on telephone calls and see it in their eyes in person. The clinic is clean and well run. I was blown away when I received a phone call on a Sunday with info about my dog’s Monday procedure. Also thoroughly impressed by the holistic nature of the treatments available.

Fantastic experience: We visited Guelph Animal hospital for the first time this week. All the staff were super friendly and Dr. Smolkin was wonderful to work with. She was calm and patient with my dog and allowed him time to be comfortable and get used to her. We specifically came for the integrative medicine approach that Dr. Smolkin offers and will definitely be returning for a follow up. Thank you to the team for all you do for our little fur families!

Fantastic experience: The practice is truly special. I initially saw Dr.Butler (now since retired) who saved Merakai’s life and just saw Dr.Perret for a behaviour plan and looking forward to a follow-up with Dr.Smolkin in the spring. Each vet that I’ve seen actually listens to you and partners with you! The vet techs also follow the same practice. It’s very reassuring and I will happily drive 6hrs for the care he gets. The gals at the front are awesome, polite and welcoming… going in you have space as it’s not an enclosed clinic waiting room. I love that Kai feels comfy enough to lay down in the exam rooms and the vets go to his level. Just an awesome place for the fur kiddos ☺️
