Fantastic experience: Great veterinarians and amazing service. Fair billing as well. You really get the feeling that these guys care and are not trying to just make a buck. My permanent vet for my fur babies since moving to Calgary!

Fantastic experience: 6/5 Stars!! The staff here are incredible, so kind & polite. The doctors are amazing, they manage to dumb everything down & explain things to you without talking down to you. Never had an experience like it! The clinic itself is one of the cleanest I've been to, plus the staff REALLY care about your pets, almost if they were their own. The care & respect this clinic has is unmatched, I would definitely recommend making the Downtown Animal Clinic your go-to vet!

Positive experience: The Vet doctor deserve 5 stars. Unfortunately front desk worker rushed to examine room with terminal instead led us pay at counter, and when I request notes from visit on provided email (I was promised done in a few hours), 3 days later and still nothing. Doctor 5 stars, front desk worker 1 star which is equal 3 stars.

Fantastic experience: I have never been to a vet that has been so gentle towards my cat - they really understand cats here and really care. Thank you to Dr Fleur and staff - I have a cat who has attacked every single vet I’ve been to before coming here, making visits stressful for both of us. They are so wonderful with him that he’s not had an incident once since I’ve come to this vet - in fact he’s been calm the entire time. I’m amazed and so thankful. They’re not only great to cats but also to the owners, very honest and follow up on care. Always on time and give you and your cat time to settle into the examination room when you arrive. I cannot recommend this clinic enough.

Fantastic experience: I love that clinic, always ask my questions when I call. Last time I was adopting a new cat I was curious if it’s safe to bring a cat, who just got her first vaccine to my existing pet, so girl on the reception even gave me a chance to speak with Dr. Fleur, that was so helpful.

Negative experience: The clinic is not bad, but they don’t respond to emails at all, even though I’m a regular client. I’ve written several times with no response. They also said they would send an estimate for my dog’s treatment, but nothing was sent, and even after a follow-up request there’s still no response.

Negative experience: I have been taking my cat Hugo there for the last 4 years. I had dental done on him and asked them to extract as many teeth as it is making him sick. They didn't take the one out that was an issue. Now trying to book an appointment today for his yearly check up. I gave all the details and then was placed on hold for over 5 minutes. I had to answer the door and hung up and called later. The receptionist not only didn't remember the call (it was the same one as I spoke to previously) so I had to reiterate all the info that was previously given. Then she asked what day I would like the appointment. I said later in the week, she replied how is Tuesday. Since when is Tuesday later in the week I have to idea, then she proceeded very sarcastically, well why don't you pick a day. I said excuse me? she said NOTHING. I hung up. NEVER GOING BACK TO THE VET AGAIN!! Such entitled front desk people.

Fantastic experience: We have been clients of the clinic since 2014 and have always been happy with the care and assessments we have had. Both of our cats are happy senior boys and have always been cared for with kindness. Would recommend to anyone looking for a new vet office!

Fantastic experience: I give this clinic 10 stars if I could. My dog was 10, and diagnosed with a collapse trachea. In the fall, I had called in to book an emergency visit, to which I was unable to book. My dog had crossed the rainbow bridge a few days after. I would like to thank dr. joe and staff, for their care and attentiveness throughout my dogs lifetime. I want to thank the staff member that worked on October 17. she called me to follow up and asked me how my dog was doing despite us not going into the clinic. As a pet owner going through grief and its process, it meant alot to know someone cared for your pet. I would recommend this clinic to anyone that is searching for a reliable, caring, and knowledgeable clinic for your pet.

Going to the vet would normally be such a stressful experience for me, but seeing the team at the downtown animal clinic makes it affordable and easy! I have always felt as though my dogs appointments are extremely quick, and affordable (they never up charge) andddd they have free parking around the back.

Fantastic experience: My 13-year old cat and I just moved to Calgary last year, and he'd had the same vet (who we loved!) all his life so the task of finding a new one felt a bit daunting, and I ended up putting it off until I actually needed an appointment. I am so thankful to have found the Downtown Animal Clinic! The staff here are all so kind and helpful, and it is obvious how much they care about what they do and about the animals. Even though my cat was a new patient, when I contacted them they scheduled us in for an appointment the very next day. Dr. Bennett was wonderful - she was great with my cat, but also very easy to talk to about the issues we were having. She was engaged in the conversation and empathetic to my concerns, and she was happy to explain things and answer all my questions. My cat is doing well on the medication he was prescribed here and the clinic has been following up to make sure there are no issues. I am very happy with the treatment my cat has received here, and so glad that we now have a new trusted vet that we can go to for any health concerns that might arise! I would absolutely recommend this clinic for your fur babies!

Fantastic experience: After moving away from Calgary and experiencing several other vets, we can honestly say that Animal Clinic has far and beyond been the best vet we have ever had. Dr. Joe and Dr. Fleur saved our dog's life when we followed our gut and brought her to the clinic for a second opinion after our previous vet labelled her as "fine". Over the course of the next two years we were in the city, the Animal Clinic team took excellent care of our pup and two kitties with top-notch medical care and the love and gentleness only true animal-lovers bring to their veterinary work. We can't thank the team enough for our time with them, and honestly miss the people in this clinic!

Fantastic experience: We’ve been to this clinic a few times now with our kitten – first for the initial check-up and then for follow-ups. Every visit has been such a good experience. The girls at the reception are always so nice and friendly, they make you feel welcome right away. Our doctor, Fleur Bennett, is absolutely wonderful. She’s very kind and attentive, always takes her time to answer all our questions in detail, and you can really tell she is a true professional. We feel very confident and comfortable bringing our kitten here, and it’s clear that everyone genuinely cares about the animals. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: [2025 Update] Dr. Joe Waldman and his team continue to provide the best services for our senior cat. He is fantastic at communicating and always helps us build move-forward plans for the care of our baby. They are compassionate and trustworthy. This facility is extremely clean and welcoming to all. [2022] Really great service, perfect location. All staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Our cat is very comfortable there. They also sell food and other items. There are 4 complimentary parking spots in lot behind the building. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommended, affordable vet clinic with fantastic service.The clinic staff are very welcoming, professional, and care a lot about their patients. My dog has a few known health problems and Dr. Joe is the most thorough veterinarian that we've been to. Good for complex cases. They are much more affordable than the suburb clinics (wellness exam costed 30% less than other Calgary clinics).

Fantastic experience: My cat may not enjoy coming here, but I am so happy with my experiences so far. The veterinarians are very patient and knowledgeable and don't recommend unnecessary treatments that are expensive. Reception and the vet assistant are so great to deal with and I love that they do follow up calls. Another bonus is that if you adopt from the Meow Foundation, you receive a complimentary first exam. I would definitely recommend this clinic and will continue to bring my furbaby here.

Fantastic experience: Personally I could not say better things about this veterinary office. This clinic has provided comfort and kindness regarding our kitten Gimli. Fantastic experience: I have complete confidence in Dr. Joe and the staff at Downtown Animal Clinic. Dr. Joe’s gentle handling of my 2 cats is reassuring as is his expertise. I really appreciate that he does not push for unnecessary testing and lab work as I am on a fixed income and I must be careful to spend my money wisely. His kind demeanour helps my 2 nervous cats through their checkups. Highly recommend this clinic and Dr. Joe.

Negative experience: The front desk is extremely rude. All I needed was a question to be answered. (Reason why I asked to speak to a vet) When I got my question NOT answered, she started talking over me, telling me where all the emergency vet clinics were. I have worked at a vet clinic before and know what to do in this situation, but I was just wondering if it’s better to wait a bit or bring him right away. I had another question, but she full right hung up on me extremely rude Whoever was working at 1:45pm on Thursday, the 17th, SHOULD NOT be working at a vet clinic, so thanks for your no help! I'm 27, but maybe she thought I was younger by my voice. But that should not be a reason to hang up on someone, especially at a vet clinic!!!! Bad service

Fantastic experience: Incredible care from Dr. Fleur, and the staff at downtown animal clinic. After 2 1/2 days of vomiting, diarrhea, and a late night ER run on Monday, they made room to see him and up with a plan to get him on track. On Wednesday she did a post ER recheck, and sent us home with some medication to help. To ensure we were on the right track she did a follow up progress assessment on Thursday, added some more medication. Then a phone call Friday to check up on him. He had been to the VCA late Monday night, subcutaneous fluids, exam and B12 shot perked him up a bit. Enough to have some food, but slid back, and he needed more care. Dr. Fleur was amazing, and her plan worked perfectly. The Thursday follow up was to ensure we were on the right path for support, if there was no change she would order tests. But she never suggests tests or unnecessary meds. I always know I’m not being charged unnecessarily and trust her treatments. So grateful for all their help, and happy to say Angus is back to his super cute feisty self.

Negative experience: I was quoted 2-3K for some simple dental work and ended up paying less than $700 at another clinic. $100 consult and the visiting vet barely looked at my dog. The other clinic actually did blood work and made me feel like they took my request seriously. The extreme price difference makes me think they’re overpriced. After I left, I received a quote via email and was shocked. In response to the owner - I only left 1 review. Must be someone else. Changing it to 1 star however. I was 5 minutes late due to the clinic not updating the address on google maps online at the time. Even if the other clinic did not offer radiographs, not everyone has 2-3K for pet dental. Different options could have been presented or this could have been communicated. Unlikely that a few minutes late means taking $100 consult fee and showing you out. The other clinic caps the price at $700 so no matter what, it’s that or less. My dog is family, so instead of making people feel like they didn’t do the best, information and options would be good.

Fantastic experience: We were very impressed and reassured with the vet service we received yesterday. Dr Joe was patient. kind, compassionate and really took the time to put our anxious doggo at ease - something no vet in the UK did for four years. Dr Joe was thorough and took time to explain and check our dog carefully. The facilities are fantastic and the tasty treats provided to make pets happier is a thoughtful and generous touch. I cannot recommend the practice highly enough! All the staff we interacted with were kind, professional and caring. You could not wish for a nicer experience for your pet. Thank you!

They've made good recommendations like trying vinegar wash before antibiotics, or doing a vet tech appointment for shots rather than full vet visit. On the other times like with a risk of elbow dysplasia Dr. Joe took the time to explain the options, explain what to watch for, etc. My only wish is to be able to give them more than 5 stars. I definitely recommend you give them a chance if your looking for a vet.

Highly intelligent and innovative, the doctors have applied their intuition and skills to diagnose Monster and come up with creative solutions for his health. They are really caring, exceptional people.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Joe Waldman and his staff are amazing. I have been taking my dog and my cat here since 2018. I will never leave this clinic. My dog had cancer, it was diagnosed immediately and she had surgery, they scheduled it immediately. She had to have bandages changed every couple days and the staff were fantastic. My dog loves seeing them. I have had pets for years and been to several different veterinary clinics over the years in various cities across Canada, this is the best veterinary clinic I have ever been to. Thank you so much Dr. Waldman you are a complete gem.

Fantastic experience: Probably one of the best vet clinics in downtown Calagry. I adopted my first ever kitten from AARCS this summer and the staff at the clinic answered all my questions and helped me understand what shots was still needed. Fantastic experience: My cat hates going to the vet and I hate putting him through stress, which makes it a tough experience for us both. Thankfully the staff at Animal Clinic are warm, compassionate, and knowledgeable, and coax him into greater comfortability with a lot of patience and care. They've also offered support beyond our billable appointments by checking in about issues that require daily management (Hannibal is a bit chonk so we have monthly weigh-ins ensure his diet plan is working). It makes me feel like they are genuinely invested in his wellbeing, and I feel reassured that I'm taking great care of my familiar. I'm really grateful to have found this clinic!

Fantastic experience: I have been going to the clinic for many years now and I've always received great service from caring staff. When my last cat was ill and could not be cured they took care of him and put him to sleep and helped me get over it. I have a new cat now and they are looking after him well. I highly recommend this clinic

Fantastic experience: The staff is friendly and caring. When we had to euthanize our elderly cat the vets were kind and understanding. We now bring our new adult cats to them and they try to make it a great experience instead of a scary experience. My one cat will now lay down and purr happily while being examined! My other cat is still nervous but the vets let them wander around and get comfortable before exams happen. Ordering special diets through them is quick and easy and come often the next business day. It's a great place to bring your pet.

Fantastic experience: In late 2023 My senior cat Baileys health was failing acutely. We took her to this animal clinic twice. The first time to treat her and the second to ease her great pain forever. I want to thank everyone for their kind treatment of Bailey and myself . Her regular vet was unavailable and I couldn’t have made a better choice. The care and patience that they showed was top shelf and I thank them for knowing when it was time for Bailey to let go - and for being there for her. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: I was googling vet clinics for my dog Bucky and came upon Animal Clinic Downtown. Got an appointment right away. Dr Fleur is an amazing doctor and I have never met a more patience and compassionate doctor before. Bucky my 3.5 year old German Shepard + Border Collie mix is hyper and impulsive given his breed and although friendly would not let Dr Fleur examine him. She was so patient, loving and encouraging with him. At no point did they show any frustration or annoyance with Bucky given his tantrums. A special thanks to Dr Fleur and Brittany Grant as well for helping Bucky get his vaccinations. Excellent service and support and good prices. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, awesome vet. The vet (Shelby) was so good with our cat, who HATES vets, and Shelby still managed to get a full examination and vaccination. And the cat stayed somewhat calm!

Fantastic experience: Walked me through the whole process of new client intake. Answered all of my queries and attended to Max's appointment with patience and care. Everyone in the front and Dr. Joe were very supportive.

Fantastic experience: We got 2 kittens from a breeder, and the breeder was using this clinic so we decided to continue their care here too. I found them to be great, polite, friendly and advocating for the animals, which is what I wanted. So far super satisfied, it’s about a 15-20 min drive and there is tons closer to me but having a good feeling about where I take my girls was important to me.

I have been seeing Dr. Joe since 2019 and he helped me through a series of medical issues with my kitty. After he passed they were incredibly compassionate and kind. I cannot recommend Animal Clinic enough.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had Labrador Retrievers my entire adulthood and when we moved from Toronto we found the Animal Clinic simply because it was close to where we lived. What an amazing stroke of luck this was. Our chocolate lab Jack, who was my best friend, my everyday companion and teacher to everyone to move forward always with love, and my absolute soul dog. He was about 9 years old when we first met Dr. Joe, and he guided us through the couple good years we had left, and then through the unbearable months when Jack would come in nearly every other week to get a status on how his breathing was going (he had inflammation in his lungs that made it difficult to breath). For the last two years of his life I pushed him everywhere in a cart and he walked when he wanted to and got a ride when he wasn’t up for walking, but mostly I pushed him to the river so he could enjoy his number one love, swimming. When it was time to let him go it was done with love, compassion and sensitivity; Dr. Joe made the hardest thing I have ever had to do as peaceful, respectful and as lovingly as he could for my great big hearted Jack. When I said goodbye, I knew he went painlessly, surrounded by love; there’s no one on earth I would have wanted with us more than Dr. Joe. When I left the clinic alone, I didn’t think I’d ever be able to have another dog. When I picked up his ashes, the staff gave me the most beautiful card with a sketch of a lab’s head on the front and everyone not only signed it, but wrote something lovely about their memories of Jack. They included clippings of his fur in the card. His ashes are now inside his favourite ball and the rest are in his favourite swimming hole. As it happens, I did move on (though I still miss Jack terribly) and now I take my Lab Finnegan to see Dr. Joe. This clinic was sensitive to my feelings, and memories of losing Jack, so they didn’t bring Finnegan and me to the room where Jack died when I brought him in. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. Joe and his team. You will always be treated with compassion and kindness and will be charged fairly. I’m so grateful to have this clinic and Dr. Joe and wouldn’t go anywhere else, even though we no longer live close to the clinic. This is where you need to bring your fur babies; give them a try, you won’t regret it.

Fantastic experience: Animal clinic was a very pleasant experience. I found them on google reviews with very high ratings and decided to give them a tey. Every time I called i was spoken to with respect and nicely. I took my 6 months old kitten for his first check since i adopted him and the doctor that attended to us was great. He answered all our questions and handled our kitten with care. Overall good experience.

Fantastic experience: This is hands down the best Vet I have been to. Dr. Joe was an incredible veterinarian. He actually stayed and talked instead of whisking me off. Couldn’t be more happy with him. The vet techs and assistants were all so beyond friendly and welcoming. You could tell that they all truly love animals. Im so glad we brought our guy here, and I couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Fantastic experience: I can not say enough about how great this clinic and its staff are. They have treated our cat thoughtfully and pragmatically over the years with incredible empathy, both for our pet and for us. Today we had to euthanize our almost 20 year old. Every single staff member was wonderful and made a difficult day as good as it could be. Thank you all!

Fantastic experience: Excellent vet. My first cat was very aggressive at vet visits but they were patient and understanding of her. My new kitties were both handled very well, it's clear they care about the pets well being and make sure they inform the owner of all options before proceeding

Fantastic experience: The people who work at this Clinic and particularly Dr. Joe are wonderful and compassionate. Today I had the unenviable duty of bring my 18 year old Westie in to be euthanized. They set us up in a nice room and Dr. Joe came in to explain everything. Things went very smoothly and even staff had teary eyes. I’d like to thank them for making the hardest part of owning a pet a little easier. This clinic is fantastic. They are true pet lovers who engage with you and your pets with honesty, integrity and passion. Now go run through that big off leash park in the sky Maggie.

Fantastic experience: Love everyone at Animal Clinic. My cats have been seeing Dr Fleur since they were kittens. She is always upfront, honest, and caring. You can tell she really cares for the pets that are brought in. All the vet techs are also great and super friendly. I always recommend Animal Clinic to anyone looking for vet.

Fantastic experience: We have been taking our fur babies to the clinic since 2001 and even when we moved out of downtown to the deep NE we still take are current 2 cats to the Animal Clinic because the vets are great they always provide the care needed, explain everything to us making it a relaxing and comforting visit every time. The vet assistants and gals at the front desk are always friendly and helpful

Fantastic experience: I brought my elderly cat here after a bad experience at a different vet. Everyone was so kind and I got the feeling that the vet here really loves and cares about cats. He was very knowledgeable and made both of us feel very comfortable and I'd happily take my old boy back again.

Fantastic experience: Hands down one of the best vet clinics in the city. Dr. Joe Waldman has been my cat's vet for over 14 years. He is knowledgable, up to date with the latest research, considerate, and fair. He has respectfully answered all of my questions and I leave knowing my cats are well taken care of. Five years after my initial review and the review is still accurate!

Fantastic experience: Our former vet retired and so we went on a hunt for a new one and luckily found one that's very close to home and excellent. Dr Joe is a treasure and our cat likes him too. He is realistic in his treatment plans and I never feel rushed. Dr Fleur was so helpful in providing advice and reassuring us by phone when we woke up to a box of half eaten chocolates on the floor courtesy of our cat. (he was fine!). The team is friendly and pleasant. Highly recommend this clinic!

Fantastic experience: The veterinarians and staff were very compassionate and understanding during what ended up being a very hard time for me and my "grumpy bear". Even while picking up medication the veterinarian took the time, as she was passing by the reception desk, to ask if I had any additional concerns and to offer to "talk" at anytime in the future if I needed to.

Fantastic experience: I recently took my cat Scooter to this clinic and had a fantastic experience. Dr. Joe was not only incredibly knowledgeable, but he was also very gentle and patient with Scooter. He took the time to thoroughly examine my cat and address all of my questions. I can tell that he genuinely cares about the well-being of his furry patients. The clinic itself was immaculate - very modern and the staff is very friendly. Five stars without a doubt!

Fantastic experience: We have been patients there for 15 years, with 4 fur babies between 2 families. They have taken the time to know us and our fur family. We are not just another number but an extension of the the Animal Clinic's family. Something businesses are short of these days. Not here! I always look forward to the Veterinary visits, and so do the fur babies! Our fur babies also look forward to their massages as well!

Fantastic experience: I've read good reviews about this clinic so I'd decided to move my dog to this vet (from one that doesn't even want to touch my puppy). We went there and for some reason, my puppy didn't even want to get into the bldg. My puppy was almost 1 year old then and weighs 91 lbs so there's no way I can force her in. I phoned the clinic and right away someone came out and tried to help. That alone justified their good reviews I've read online that they care. We ended up coming back the next day and the vet was so helpful and examined my dog thoroughly. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: We’re new to town and found Animal Clinic in our quest for a vet we can trust. We’ve seen a couple different doctors here and they were great with our pets, made them immediately comfortable and treated them as if they were their own. They’re also really thorough with explaining any any concerns and medications. Front desk staff are super kind and helpful too, each experience here has been a really positive one and we’re so happy we found this practice!

Fantastic experience: Staff and veterinarian are very friend and helpful. I loved that they think about everyone's well being and take extra steps to make sure all pets are comfortable. I was at the front desk and they were passing a cat over to its owner and instead of passing it through the fastest route, they went around to far side to make sure the cat wouldn't be agitated by my dog being there. Small things like that add up! It was great to see!
