Fish Creek Pet Hospital: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Thank you so much to all the staff and dr. Patton for taking care of Luna today. We appreciate you so much
Fantastic experience: We have been bringing our pets into Fish Creek Animal Hospital for years. They never fail to have compassion and are so knowledgeable. When you are in those moments with your pet even the smallest bit of kindness can make such an impact and we are truly thankful to all of the amazing vets and staff for always moving with presence, grace and such care for the animals. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you guys do.
Fantastic experience: Last week my dog Bella was sick. Turns out she was dehydrated from something. The doctors and staff took great care of her. She is on the mend ❤️ Thank you for looking after my little girl.
Fantastic experience: I’m truly grateful to Dr. Kevyn for his compassion, professionalism, and excellent judgment. During one of the most stressful moments for our family, he listened carefully, explained everything clearly, and put Lulu’s wellbeing first. His early recognition of the seriousness of her condition made a real difference. You can tell he practices medicine with both skill and heart. We’re very thankful to have such a caring and dedicated veterinarian in our community.
Fantastic experience: We had to bring our cat to this location suddenly because of a medical emergency. Everyone was compassionate, attentive and took every opportunity to keep us updated on what was happening. The vet techs were just incredible, and the vet who saw our little guy, Dr T Armstrong, was amazing. They all listened to our concerns and never rushed us through anything. Our cat hated his stay, but we will take him back in a heartbeat.
Fantastic experience: Thank you to all of you for making the last two appointments with JuJu Bee so great. Everyone has been so kind & understanding.
Negative experience: If you want your pet to die due to carelessness, no monitoring during hospitalization and gross negligence, go here. Also, one of the receptionists needs to be retrained or fired. She has a terrible attitude
Negative experience: Few doctors at emergency hours, more time to wait for attention, installations so dirt.
Fantastic experience: It was my first time at the clinic. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable and I know for sure my cat is in good hands here ❤️
Positive experience: We brought our 12 yr old Lab-Pyrenees cross dog in to Fish Creek Animal Hospital last week in critical condition. The nurse and the attending vet were very empathetic and compassionate and took him in right away. Unfortunately, a tumor on his spleen, that was never diagnosed, had ruptured and he was bleeding internally. The prognosis was grim and we made the extremely difficult decision to let him go peacefully. We were extremely distraught, trying to say goodbye to our beloved companion when another employee came in and started asking us all kinds of questions about what urn we wanted for his remains, did we want a paw print cast, a hair clipping... etc. This was extremely upsetting. I would suggest that at such a difficult time that those kinds of questions be left to another time and allow the pet's people to come to terms with the death of their pet in peace.
Fantastic experience: Last week we were looking after family members older dog. We rushed her into Fish Creek when she collapsed. When we got there immediately the staff took her and started to work on her. She died of a cardiac arrest unfortunately. Although our story is very sad, we wanted to thank the staff at Fish Creek for all that they did for Izzy and for us. So kind! They gave us a separate room to say good byes. Treated us with such compassion. Thank you Fish Creek Pet Hospital!!
Fantastic experience: Great staff! I brought my dog Betti at this hospital a few years ago for the same reason, diarrhea. Today we arrived at the hospital first thing in the morning as a walk in. We were the first client, then it started getting busy. The receptionist and the vet tech nurse were amazing! "Dr. Corlene Sadler" was great. She took her time examining Betti and very transparent with the cost. She made sure that you know all options available and what is the priority without forcing you to make a decision. She allowed me enough time to think about the options and to decide what I am comfortable with without any pressure. Unfortunately, I found out, she's just a casual at this hospital. Overall, great animal hospital and great, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Dr. Sadler, you are an angel! Thank you from Betti The Hiking Dog!
Negative experience: Torture! Not only for pets but for people too. Never felt this forgotten I came with my 10 weeks puppy who was vomiting like 10 times in an hour. And I got helped after 2 hours only, and waiting for another 2 and they just brought me a bill. No discussions what was found during the ultrasound, not what was done, not what should I do. Just a long report to read at home Private care, wow
Fantastic experience: I brought my sick dog Zoey in a couple weeks ago as an emergency walk in; despite being super busy with bigger emergencies, they were still incredibly kind and prompt in caring for Zoey! They didn’t seem to care about making me spend as much money as possible- they went over first step options and next steps to take if the first options didn’t work. I appreciated the transparency and compassion shown at this pet hospital. I walked in super stressed and worried and left reassured and felt much better :) Zoey is now doing fantastic!!
Fantastic experience: Attended FCPH as my pooch was exhibiting kennel cough symptoms and my normal vets couldn't offer ab appointment at short notice. Phoned FCPH and offered consultation on "first come" basis. Told to attend and phone from car park. Did so and taken straight into waiting room. FCPH quite busy but didn't have to wait overly long. Pooch given detailed once over and likely KC confirmed. She had annual protection on 30 Oct but unfortunately more than one strain. Treatment likely minimized effect of infection. Given option of doing sputum tests or treating conservatively as my pooch is healthy (other than cough). Chose conservative treatment and left with medicine to be used on an as and when basis so status of cough can be monitored. Advised to return if cough worsens or any other symptoms appear. Also advised that return examination within 7 days would be without cost. Smooth transaction. Hope fully pooch on mend. Wouldn't hesitate to bring her back if not. Recommended.
Fantastic experience: They were amazing and cared more for my cat then the hospital wallet. They walked me through all the the options and treatments and leaded me toward "what would be less suffering" for him. They genuinely cared about his well-being and try not to make him suffer for nothing. They received me quickly despite having less than 1h notice of md coming in. They were very transparent with everything, explaining me all the options, treatments and pros and cons of each. I was ready to pay to get my cat to get better, but after his condition got way worse overnight, she called me early morning to let me know so I could come see my cats and discuss another plan. Instead of leading me into a costly treatment, she was very transparent about everything letting me know she didn't wanted him to suffer for very little chances of getting better. Giving me all the options even transferring him to critical care, but it wouldn't be worth it as my little guy would be suffering alot just to keep suffering all his life, and still didn't guaranteed he would make it. I decided to try again a more agressive treatment and give him a bit more time, but from his lack of reaction and will to fight, she turned around and told me her concerns and reason why she thinks it'll just me more painfull for him with little chances of success. Unfortunately, it was his very first visit at the hospital and his last. But everyone was very thoughtful and compassionate and they when through all the process with me, explained it all to me and gave me as much time as I needed with no rush. It wasn't a good experience as I've lost my little man, but I couldn't have wished for a better support through it.
Fantastic experience: We’ve been to this clinic twice. Once, a few years ago, our cat was sick. They were fast, unbelievably kind and took amazing care of him. This weekend our cat passed away unexpectedly. My husband called multiple clinics that were closer to where we live. Their responses were cold, their prices high. I asked him to call Fish Creek instead. They were so nice, and empathetic on the phone. When we arrived (we did not have an appointment), August came right up to talk to us and took us to a private room. She gave us time and space to grieve, and talked us through everything. They even offered to have the vet come and talk to us. Their prices were significantly better than any of the other place we called. I literally couldn’t recommend them enough. They really showed they cared.
Fantastic experience: Very exceptional service from the team here, they’ve always managed to talk me off a ledge whenever my furry family members are sick. They have such compassion and have always made me feel welcome and safe, rather than like a business transaction.
Positive experience: It’s not easy to sit and wait when you are worried about your precious furbaby but the staff and vets have all been fantastic in caring for our sweet Luna Bear when we come and apologizing when wait times are longer than usual and there is any misunderstandings. Thank you Fish Creek for everything!!! It’s not easy having a diabetic dog but she’s in great hands here.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Monica Leslie Thank you from us all. Walker’s family
Negative experience: Very disappointed. My order hasn’t been delivered, even though delivery is supposed to take 3–4 days. I paid $350 and still have no food for my pet. Hard to reach customer service — I hope they fix this soon.
Fantastic experience: I took my dog Remy into the clinic last night with pain in his hip and an arthritic flare up, we saw Dr Kevyn Smith and he was fantastic, he listened to all my concerns and we thoroughly discussed a variety of options and he answered my many many questions. He was great with Remy and detailed in our path forward.
Fantastic experience: Our dear Walker had a great team of doctors to draw him a map to Pet Heaven. Our handsome boy felt loved and surrounded by beautiful humans wearing badges. Thank you to the doctor and the kind nurse, he definitely admired the beauty in you both. Thank you ♥️
Fantastic experience: My dad who is 85 had to have his Yorkie put down and had a very good experience because of all the staff at Fish Creek. The vet tech took pictures of him and Mila before they euthanized her. She had the pictures printed on paper and made a file folder for him and had Milas name on it and a heart. You have no idea how this act of kindness made him feel in this sad situation. Thanks again for being so kind and thoughtful
Negative experience: We brought in our cat, it was miss diagnose that cane with a cost of $5000 it was only food allergies plus our cat caught fleas while we were there, plus our pets at home and ourselves were bitten by fleas, we had to spend more money to have our pets and home treated. When we called they just blew us off.
Fantastic experience: My dog was seen by Dr. Claire McNicol, and I’d like to say she is very kind, caring, and skilled. I was given clear and prompt replies. I’m glad that my dog was in her care—thank you!
Fantastic experience: I honestly don't think my words can truly explain how great everyone here is. I took my dog in due to an emergency, I couldn't have asked for a better team to help. They were so caring and sweet with him. They checked back with my when he'd been with them for awhile, and informed me of everything that was happening. Thank you to all the wonderful people who help me and my pup!
Fantastic experience: We brought in an Orange Tabby late yesterday afternoon. First time at this pet hospital the feline was in our back yard and I have to say the Staff and Team were very friendly and professional. I called this morning and was very pleased to hear the owners had picked up their family pet. Thank you for the great service overall.
Fantastic experience: Helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff and a very thorough diagnosis for our cat. Also appreciated the follow-up calls to check in on her. If you're in need of an emergency vet, I can wholeheartedly recommend them.
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately I had to put two of my cats down, but I came here for that and the staff/ vets were super supportive and respectful and listened to my concerns. Was able to receive a paw print and ashes at a reasonable price as well. Thank you for all your support and compassion
Fantastic experience: They made my beloved dog Jack’s euthanasia as comforting as it could have been ❤️ they took great care of him and made us feel supported throughout the procedure. Thank you for making one of our darkest days a little bit easier.
Fantastic experience: Hey so I have a year old doberman, English bulldog and a cat. I've brought my doberman here when he was hit by a car, more recently for his foot. They treat my animal better then any place in town. All the staff there you can tell really actually care about our animals. I find most vets to be a money grab and push for services to make money and not look for the best interest of our animals. This is the only place I'll take my animals. Definitely worth the wait. Just wanted to share my experience and say thank you to the all the staff for the hard work they put in. Really appreciate it again thanks guys
Negative experience: (Wish I could give negative stars for this review) My partner recently took our dog in as he was acting very different and not his normal self over a few weeks time. He had not been eating much, was weak, sleeping lots and was finding it tough to get up and down on the bed and couch. He arrived at the vet around 4:45pm at which they checked him in and did an ultrasound by one of the nurses. The vet didn’t seem busy at all and after 2 hours of waiting they came back and said ultrasound was ok. Now my partner was told it would be about another couple hours to see the doctor. Around 10:00pm finally was seen by doctor and they did another ultrasound at which he was now told there were modules on the spleen of my dog and he had cancer. The doctor then told my partner the options of he could stay as is and just make him comfortable at which he would maybe get weeks or a couple months left to live, or you could do surgery and he may get 3-6 months but with chemo possibly around a year or so. This was heart breaking news to get a phone call from my partner about this as this was our first dog and he was only 7 years old. The doctor also proceed to tell my partner he had a dog that was 7 with the same cancer and he only made it to 14 months with surgery and treatment. So my partner said to get him in to see a specialist so we know our options and what we should do. My dog came home and then was admitted to VCA hospital the next afternoon for testing. Fast forward another day after CT scans, blood work and other sample testing the specialist came back to say there was only 1 small 2cm module not several on his spleen and all tests stated no cancer at all. Organs were all fine and turned out he just had a bad infection that some steroids and monitoring should clear him up. Even after spending a couple days at VCA he perked back up and seemed much better, was eating and started looking like his normal self. So personally I think whoever this original vet was at fish creek that put us through hell telling us our dog was going to die should not be practicing vet care. That is the absolute worst service I had ever seen from this place and the fact the doctor told us our dog was dying with cancer without proper proof is unreal. How can you do that to someone? What if we decided to put our dog down instead of fighting for him? We would have killed a perfectly amazing dog that had no cancer cause of this doctor. I will be finding out who this doctor was that did this to us. The torture he put us through over his misleading and false diagnosis is beyond not ok and whoever runs this facility should be looking into this as how can you have someone like that work for your business. Whoever this doctor was makes me sick and pissed!!! I would never recommend this place to anyone and will never step foot in that building. If this is how they run it they should be shut down. TAKE YOUR PETS TO ALPINE!!! At least they care!!
Fantastic experience: Just wanted to give a huge shout out to Dr Tatum Armstrong and the rest of the staff at Fish Creek Pet Hospital. I had to have my sweet weenie dog Nollie put down in June due to old age. Hardest decision ever. Dr Armstrong was very supportive and reassuring. My girl got to be in my lap and listen to her favourite guided meditation while she took her last breaths. My other dog was able to come in and say her goodbyes afterwards. I’m incredibly grateful for all the support during this difficult time. Thank you for your compassion. Photo of sweet Nollie in her younger years.
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff. The Dr's, nurses, techs, receptionists, everyone has been amazing. My little Yorkie cross is a very sick little girl ( kidney disease) . She spent 3 days there and they've given her some extra time to spend with us. We don't know how long but every minute counts ♥️ they were all so great with her while she was there and kept me updated regularly.
Fantastic experience: I’m so grateful to the team at Fish Creek Pet Hospital for the kindness and compassion they showed during my cat's final moments. They treated him with such care and helped him pass peacefully, purring in my arms. The staff made a heartbreaking time a little more bearable, and I’ll never forget that. Thank you for everything.
Fantastic experience: This was my first time ever having to take a dog to an emergency pet hospital, and while the situation was naturally stressful, I had a very positive experience here. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly attentive, kind, and compassionate. They made sure my pup was seen promptly and took the time to explain everything clearly, which really helped put me at ease. It’s never easy dealing with a pet emergency, but their professionalism and genuine care made a tough situation much more manageable. I’m grateful for the support we received and wouldn’t hesitate to return if needed in the future.
Fantastic experience: The staff at fish creek animal hospital went above and beyond to make sure Sparrow felt comfortable and secure for a dog that at times is reactive they were patient, understanding and very helpful. A big thankyou for making a hard day a little better and for helping Sparrow on the road to recovery!
Fantastic experience: The prices are affordable and were a third of the costs from other vets. They were compassionate and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye. They help make one of lifes most unbearable moments bearable. Thanks again for helping us.
Fantastic experience: Our dog needed overnight care. During that time we spoke with 2 different veterinarians, a nurse and a couple of front desk staff. Everyone was incredibly kind and supportive. They were very upfront about charges and there were no surprises. Aside from my sick dog, it was a very positive experience.
Fantastic experience: Visited tonight with one of my cats. The people who work here are all so kind, within minutes of arriving they had my little guy being looked at to make sure it wasn’t a blockage. I watched as a few other people rushed in with multiple different issues and everyone was treated with great care and kindness. I can’t imagine this is an easy job and to see how much these people truly care about the animals was amazing and heartwarming. Found the prices to be very reasonable as well.
Fantastic experience: We highly recommend Fish Creek Animal Hospital! The doctors and team who cared for our 10-week-old GSP puppy were incredibly compassionate, empathetic and professional. They treated our pup with so much love and attention, which meant the world to us during such a stressful time. As new pet owners, we were so scared and emotional when our puppy became ill, but the team at Fish Creek was amazing. They provided us with regular, thorough updates and took the time to explain everything clearly. Their detailed assessments and genuine care reassured us that our puppy was in the best possible hands. We cannot thank you enough for your dedication and expertise, our pup is on the road to recovery, and we are so grateful.
Fantastic experience: They helped my dog professionally in quickly. I was informed about the diagnosis, was presented by options, and staff treated me and Darryl (dog) well. They really do care about every pet that comes in. Special thanks to dr. Sean for taking care of Darryl.
Fantastic experience: We’ve been taking our dog here for years and have to say, we’ve found the staff to be pretty amazing. Sometimes getting an appointment can take a while, but they accept walk ins as well, and seem to really do their best to get you in and out as quickly as possible. The receptionists are professional, kind and knowledgeable. They’ve even been a great help just giving me advice over the phone. We’ve found the vets to be incredibly transparent, both when it comes to possible diagnosis and the cost of procedures, while still maintaining compassion and empathy. Overall, we’ve been very happy with our experiences here. At the end of the day, most people are going to a vet for stressful reasons which are compounded by getting a big bill at the end. These guys make it a bit easier on you.
Negative experience: I brought my cat to Fish Creek Pet Hospital because she seemed low-energy and slightly short of breath. I was hoping to get a professional and compassionate assessment—but from the moment I walked in, I was shocked by how poorly I was treated. The vet's attitude was dismissive and cold. Her facial expressions were rude, and she spoke to me as if I had done something wrong just for bringing in my cat. No empathy, no reassurance—just judgment and condescension. The very first question she asked me was: “If your cat stops breathing, do you want us to do CPR?” I was stunned. Of course I said yes, thinking that would be the default in any medical situation. Only as she was walking out of the room—after I stopped her and asked why she was asking—did she mention it could cost up to $600. I immediately said no, but this lack of transparency was alarming. They then charged $300 for an X-ray—far higher than what even human medical imaging costs in Alberta (See screenshot from the Alberta Society of Radiologists). When they returned, they told me I needed to euthanize my cat or admit her to the hospital. I declined, since my cat did not appear that sick, and I felt she would be more stressed staying away from home. They claimed she was taking 90 breaths per minute, but once I got home and counted myself, she was breathing at 46–48—much closer to normal. To make matters worse, they made me sign paperwork to take my own pet home. And the most outrageous part: the next day, the police knocked on my door because the vet had reported me for animal cruelty. Even the officer seemed baffled, telling me they were just asked to check in because the vet wanted the cat to remain hospitalized. Absolutely absurd. This entire experience felt like emotional manipulation paired with outrageous costs. I felt taken advantage of during a vulnerable moment. These vets seem more focused on billing than on genuine care. I’ll never return here, and I strongly caution others to be aware of what they’re walking into.
Fantastic experience: The staff and the veterinarian gave so much support and love to my Boston. I highly recommend this pet hospital. I will definitely be taking my other two for babies To this hospital for the check ups for everything thank you so much to the staff and the veterinarian for all your love and support love Maggie and Chelsea Walker and Randy Fisher made my Boston rest in peace
Fantastic experience: TLDR, I STRONGLY recommend this pet hospital. These people were nothing short of amazing. I had to take my pet in repeatedly due to a life threatening emergency. They made me feel heard, understood, and they cared for my pet as if he was their own. I felt like they really went above and beyond to make sure I didn't lose my little guy. I've had horrific experiences with other pet hospitals in the past and I was terrified of how this would go. I'm so incredibly greatful that they proved my concerns and fears wrong, and they did so to the utmost of their ability.
Negative experience: Edit: is this place a euthanasia money mill? After having many good visits there over the years, I had an overzealous vet I'd never met before showing off to her student intern that made me miserable by forcing euthanasia on my cat. It was not her place to take away my agency as a devoted pet owner. I had to sign a note that they might call the SPCA on me before they would bring my kitty from the back where they were holding him hostage. These were cruel and unecessary legal threats which only compounded my distress I came there in good faith hoping to get my guy some relief and was punished for it. This is a deterrent for those of us who come in good faith. A very blunt take on a sensitive situation of which she had no previous knowledge. I then spent thousands on weekly visits for an at home vet (from another company) to come look at my kitty every week because of the SPCA threat. Totally unecessary. Abusive owners do not take their animal to the vet and do everything they can to give them the best life. It was very distressing for me while I was grieving and suffering and my cat was not ready yet. You added malice when I needed support. I called a lawyer that has experience with pet law and apparently this location is known for being heavy-handed with euthanasia threats and taking away your animal if they think it is suffering. It's extremely presumptuous and disconnected from reality. My cat died peacefully at home from euthanasia done by another very caring vet unrelated to this place. When he was ready - not when a vet who had never touched him before wanted to force on him prematurely. Previous to this incident I had lovely staff experiences (see below). But I would be afraid to go there again with an older pet. Old review; Even with meds & food & veterinary care it was the cheapest vet visit I've ever had. Made my dog feel so much better after treatment and me too. Very pleasant front desk staff. I know it was a bit of luck, but I hope everyone happens to have as good an experience as I did.
Fantastic experience: We cannot thank all the staff enough for everything they did to help us during our family’s last moment s with our dog Sean. They went above and beyond to make our dog relaxed and well taken care of. Not only did they do everything possible for Sean but they supported our family through this difficult time. All staff are angels.
Fantastic experience: I wish humans could get care like this! Brought my kitty in today as he was vomiting uncontrollably and refusing to eat. Got in quickly, staff was kind and efficient. Saw a doctor quickly and she was thorough, did a good job of explaining things, and didn't push for anything unnecessary. Definitely felt like we were in great hands. Glad a place like this exists for our little furry friends.
Fantastic experience: The staff here, are phenomenal. Dr Kevin and his team were kind, compassionate, and professional. They were able to explain medical things in a way that made sense. Ultimately our kitty crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but the care and compassion we got from the team here was better than we could ever ask for. Hug your fur babies everyone,
Fantastic experience: Brought our senior dog to the walk in emergency clinic for an urgent second opinion. We were checked in immediately by very helpful friendly staff and seen by Vet within 15 minutes. Dr Duce took plenty of time to listen to our dog’s history and problems, reviewed the extensive bloodwork we brought from previous office, asked lots of questions from down on the floor with our dog and gave us what felt like very honest advice and recommendations on all options for our aging pup that made sense - with compassion. We did not feel like we were being run through a mill on big dollar testing options like the corporate clinic we just came from. We are so glad we came to Fish Creek Pet Hospital. We will be sticking with them. 5 star all round!
Fantastic experience: Thank you for providing such fast and efficient service during our difficult time. We deeply appreciate the way you cared for our beloved Codey during his final moments. I was truly impressed by the compassion shown by all the doctors and staff. One key moment that I will never forget was when Dr. Claire sent me a photo of my dog and reassured me that my boy was being well looked after. That gesture meant so much to me and brought comfort during a very emotional time. Your kindness and professionalism made all the difference, and I will always be grateful for the care you provided to Codey and to us as a family.
Fantastic experience: The overnight staff here are so kind! I didn't realize they were closed for the night when I showed up with my cat. I rang the bell, and a staff member answered the door, asked a few questions about the cat (probably saw panic in my face), and let me in to make sure my cat was stable. Even though it was not an emergency (like I thought it was), the doctor ran tests, took lots of time explaining the results and options, and then sent me and my cat home with medications (for the cat not me, haha). I was so relieved and incredibly grateful that they helped us after hours!
Fantastic experience: We’ve been going to fish creek for quite a few years, Absolutely love them all, very friendly, patient and informative. Shout out to Doctor McKay, she is tremendous with her patients! Thank you all for what you do!
Fantastic experience: Brought my senior cat here for the day that every pet owner dreads. The team here was incredibly compassionate and kind and made his passing as peaceful and comfortable as possible. Their euthanasia process is thoughtfully designed with empathy at its core. RIP Rufus. ❤
Fantastic experience: Excellent service, compassionate and caring techs and the vet as well. Very good at explaining procedures and providing costing as you go along, very reasonable pricing for an emergency clinic! Definitely recommend!
Negative experience: I took my dog here several days before Christmas. I ended up leaving before he was seen. While I acknowledged that they had some emergencies, and probably a couple "emergencies" too, that is not why I left. They claimed to busy, but based on what I witnessed, it didn't feel like an "all hands on deck situation" despite leaving us to wait for an hour and twenty minutes. I did not feel as though my Dog would receive adequate care. I've heard too many horror stories of negligence on the part of vets leading to a negative outcome for the pet, so I didn't want to take the risk with my dog. I'm certain I'll get a reply from owner, bur really, the only thing they should comment is an apology that mine and my Dogs needs weren't met.
Fantastic experience: On the weekend, my family and I had to deal with an experience all pet owners know is coming, but dread with the heaviest of hearts. Our family dog, a 17 (few short months short of 18) year old puggle was showing the signs that something wasn't right. We brought him to Fish Creek Pet Hospital to have him looked at and the staff could not have been any more comforting, empathetic, understanding and just overall amazing. While the outcome was what we had dreaded, from the moment we arrived until we left with our empty dog bed the care from the staff made it a little easier and is something my family will always be thankful for.
Positive experience: We have been using Fish Creek for 15ish Years. We first found them the night we brought our first dog home. She had been spayed by the humane society earlier that day and she popped her stitches at 11 pm on a Sunday night. We got her in and the were able to repair the stitches and noticed that something had not gone well during the spay so they rectified the issue and got her patched up! a 15 min pop into the back turned into well over an hour! when the bill came out it was small the doctor chose not to charge for the extra surgery or time it took, This bought our loyalty despite being 45 min away in good traffic! we have had several dogs since and have watched as service quality has gone down and cost go up. I understand that everything is expensive now and there is a large demand to be as profitable as possible but , we brought our newest dog in due to an ear infection today and after confirming what we already knew (ear infection) and prescribing meds the informed us that showing us the proper way to use the meds was going to be an extra charge! A scheduled appointment to get meds for an ear infection ended up costing $250 and we did not have them clean her ears and apply the medication! I am not sure how much longer we can afford to bring our dogs here. Needless to say I am disappointed in the drop in quality of service and lack of human touch that brought us to Fish creek in the first place. To also be fair it is not always like this depending on who you get as a vet when you come in and the receptionists have always been clear, helpful, pleasant, and Professional!
Fantastic experience: Took my cat Charlie in for the third time in 6 months and had a very positive experience, considering I was a worried mess. The staff was absolutely amazing and extremely kind, and the Veterinarian (I looked up the website and I’m very sure she was Dr. Natasha) was absolutely incredible. We have had a series and unfortunate events recently so this was just another crappy thing, but Dr. Natasha was amazing and someone you can genuinely tell adores animals and truly wants the best for our pets. Thank you so much, the kindness was very needed during these times ❤️
Fantastic experience: “They are only a chapter in our lives, but we are the whole lives for them..” means we have to take a good care of our pets once we decided to take a responsibility for their lives. But what if they’re getting sick.. That’s why is it integral to know where to go immediately to ask for help. For me, the Fish Creek Pet Hospital is #1 forever. With all the appreciation and sincerity I would like to express my highest gratitude to the exceptional and highly professional care for my dog Mikki Boss from the Doctors at the Fish Creek Pet Hospital. It is necessary to single out such brilliant veterinarians as Doctor Aliza, Doctor Lora and Doctor Brianna, who not only reacted simultaneously to the life threatening condition of my dog, but also found a decent approach in diagnostic of the cause and finally resultative treatment of his critical condition. I am thankful to all the Doctors who were in charge of my dog for putting all the possible efforts in saving his live. I am grateful for being honest in every single details, compassionate to our emotions and highly supportive during the whole period of hospitalization and even after our dog discharge. The minute I came to Fishcreek Pet Hospital and met Doctor Aliza I realized that I was not by my own anymore. Moreover, I felt I was in the right place and my dog was in the right hands. 4 days and 3 nights the whole veterinary team was fighting for my dog’s life. I was getting detailed and clear updates several times per day by phone and in person during visits about his progress by highly professional Doctor Lora and Doctor Brianna. The Fish Creek Pet Hospital is the place where Doctors sincerely care about your Pet by means of putting your Pet’s life and well-being on the top of the place. They are not afraid of any critical conditions because of their professionalism and high reliability. And last but not least, Fish Creek Pet Hospital is number one for me personally simply because they accepted us after another hospital from where we disappointedly left getting no diagnosis at all and poor treatment although wasting the whole day.. Overall, I am thankful for the rest of my life to Fish Creek Pet Hospital for lend me their helping hands in saving my little dog’s life! Bravo! You deserve all the stars and respect!♥️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Negative experience: Not recommending them if you have a cat. They prescribed overdose which was not required. UTI got better but now she has other issues such as vomiting frequently, loitering outside the box , too low on energy, depressed . We have been taking her to other vets for 5 years but no one has ever prescribed her such overdose that lead to new conditions.
Fantastic experience: We've been coming here for quite a while and even stayed with them after we moved downtown. They have been wonderful with all our pets. We recently went through the loss of two cats over the past year and a bit and the process to support our animals and us through this transition was lovely in it's compassion and privacy. I would recommend this place highly for your animal care needs.
Fantastic experience: Exceptional Care at Fish Creek Pet Hospital We recently had to leave our beloved kitty, Maya, at Fish Creek Pet Hospital for three nights, and I can't express enough how grateful we are for the incredible care she received. From the moment we walked in, the doctors and support staff went above and beyond, showing genuine love and compassion for Maya. Their extensive knowledge and dedication put us at ease immediately. The team was wonderful about keeping us informed, providing us with updates twice a day on her progress. We could feel how much they cared, not just through their updates but through the thoughtful follow-up calls after Maya returned home. They were as concerned for her well-being as we were, and that level of care is simply remarkable. Fish Creek Pet Hospital has set a new standard in veterinary care for us, and we’re beyond thankful for the kindness, expertise, and attention Maya received. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for a pet care team that truly goes the extra mile.
Fantastic experience: Just got back a few hours ago from Fish Creek Hospital. Had Holly in overnight. Thank you all so much for the kindness and support. Sick pet can be stressful. We appreciated being able to come in and spend time with her.
Fantastic experience: The staff here are amazing. My 1st ever experience here was so scary not knowing if my dog was even going to make it. They took him in right away, had him assesed and onto meds in a very short time then they told me we could do a follow up appointment for free. They were sooooo compassionate and made sure I knew exactly what I was paying for before they did anything. They NEVER push or over charge. I had yet another emergency last night with my 15 week old puppy. They had him in and figured out the issue in under 15 mins. With no judgment towards me after discovering my puppy had gotten into some pot. I'm sooooo grateful for this animal hospital and their staff. You have are all beautiful souls so caring and helpful, the animals are very lucky to have each and everyone of you on their side in their times of need. I'm so happy I found you all Thank-you for all that you do from myself and my fur babies Baxter and Marcell
Fantastic experience: THE BEST!! Such phenomenal and compassionate staff at Fish Creek Pet Hospital!! We unfortunately had to put our dog down and we could not ask for better staff to walk through this with us! They were gentle, compassionate and kind. Can not recommend them enough!
Fantastic experience: Brought my dog in over the weekend after he ingested a rib bone. They induced vomiting before the bone could cause any damage. I received excellent service, constantly was checked in on and updated while my dog was being treated. All of the staff were transparent so I knew exactly what was happening, and there was no sticker shock at the end of the visit. Prices are reasonable for the high standard of care I recieved. I felt comfortable knowing my pup was in compassionate and caring hands! Overall we spent just under two hours here, which again, is reasonable considering they're an emergency clinic!
Fantastic experience: We've had two urgent visits, and our dogs were treated very well. They were not necessarily emergencies, but issues that needed to be dealt with that day. We ended up waiting 4+ hours and it's understandable as they are on triage and there are always severe cases coming in that need attention. The vets were always excellent.
Fantastic experience: I feel compelled to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to Fish Creek Animal Hospital for the exceptional compassion and support they provided during one of the most heart-wrenching periods of our lives. When the time came to say goodbye to our cherished male cat, Osiris, the staff approached the situation with such sensitivity and grace that it helped ease the profound pain we were experiencing. From the very first moment we entered the clinic, it was evident that the team at Fish Creek truly understands the emotional turmoil that accompanies the loss of a beloved pet. They treated us with immense kindness and respect, ensuring that we felt completely supported throughout every step of the process. Their gentle demeanor and thoughtful approach made a world of difference, allowing us to navigate this heartbreaking farewell with a bit more comfort. After Osiris passed, the staff made a heartfelt promise to treat both him and our dear female cat, Buddy, with the utmost respect following their passing. They honored this commitment by ensuring that their ashes, fur, and paw prints were handled with great care and dignity. The staff went above and beyond in helping us arrange for the return of Osiris's ashes, and they provided us with his paw prints, which have become treasured keepsakes that we will hold dear for years to come. These thoughtful gestures not only offered us a tangible way to remember them, but they also provided a sense of closure that we desperately needed during such a sorrowful time. Shortly after, we faced the equally difficult task of saying farewell to Buddy. The support we received during this second loss was just as comforting and compassionate as the first. The staff treated Buddy with the utmost respect and kindness, ensuring we felt cared for and supported as we navigated this emotionally taxing experience. The exceptional compassion exhibited by the team at Fish Creek Animal Hospital is something we will carry with us forever. They guided us through a challenging time with grace and empathy, and for that, we are incredibly thankful. If you are searching for a veterinary clinic that truly values the bond between pets and their owners, I wholeheartedly recommend Fish Creek Animal Hospital. They deliver not only outstanding medical care but also the emotional support that every pet owner needs during life's most difficult moments.
Fantastic experience: Several years ago I had a kitty with crystals who did not come home woth me. You were so kinda to me then. Today my kitty came in with similar symptoms. You got me in so fast and we're so compassionate. The total was not that horrible all things considered. For urin testing, ultrasound, 2 pain meds, antibiotics and food. Thank you
Positive experience: Should you bring your pet here in an emergency? Absolutely. For primary care? Maybe. It's been a struggle to find a great vet in Calgary, and while I think Fish Creek is a good vet I do find myself weighing my options for where I take my pet for primary care. First off, there is no issue with the standard of care or the staff, the people at the clinic are nice and professional and the vets are knowledgeable and caring. The experience has been consistent in the years we've been coming in and I appreciate their extended hours for emergencies, or at least what remains of them given they are shifting to more regular operating hours. However, sometimes rigid operating policy and billing practices gets in the way of customer service and it can feel like the clinic is after your money not your loyalty. Context: We recently needed to get a refill for our aging dogs epilepsy medication which we had never had filled at Fish Creek before, despite having been a regular patient there. They understandably wanted some confirmation of the condition and wanted bloodwork to check his levels which is totally fair. Our previous vet where we had been getting the medication was asking us to get the same bloodwork + an exam. However, we had been into Fish creek the previous week for an unrelated emergency and had an exam, bloodwork (different) plus some meds for about $600 so I was hoping we could parlay that extensive exam into a scenario of paying for the new bloodwork + meds but skip the exam fee. Plus we wanted to complete the clinic switch anyway so this made sense. However, since it was unrelated to the previous incident I was told they would have to charge another exam fee despite the recent visit. I have a pretty good idea of what that exam would look like. The vet asks "Does he have epilepsy?", I answer "yes for 14 years, but it's under control and he hasn't had a seizure in two years" and we send away his blood for testing. For that two sentence interaction I am charged another $100 exam fee. Pets are not cheap and it's their prerogative to charge whatever they need to run their business, but obviously as consumers we have financial limits as well and sometimes it stings when you feel like you are getting double charged for a service with limited value because you just paid for that service. He doesn't need an exam, he just had one, he needs bloodwork. At the end of the day the clinic staff recommended I return to my old clinic anyway because they didn't think they could schedule me in plus get the meds on quick enough turn around, so maybe my feelings on the exam fee are moot, but it still felt frustrating. Does this interaction this mean I will never go to Fish Creek again? No, because they still offer essential walk-in emergency services that you can't find elsewhere. I do have two dogs though and I will contemplate whether I bring them back for their non-emergency needs.
Fantastic experience: I am surprised there are negative reviews. We have had three emergency visits (our regular vet was unavailable) and found Fish Creek Pet Hospital to be exceptional in every way. The building is clean and spacious. The staff is ample, courteous and professional. Thank you to all the staff that have treated us and our pets with the upmost respect.
Fantastic experience: My beloved elderly cat had really gone downhill and we knew it was time. My vet had surgeries all day and wasn’t able to get us in and recommended we call Fish Creek. From the time I called they were so compassionate and professional. Took my information over the phone and said to come when worked best for us. When we arrived they brought us straight to a room, walked us through every step. Were able to accommodate keeping him with us for all the needed procedures so I was able to keep him calm and peaceful. After we had as much time as we needed and they were so helpful with getting us mementos as well. They took an awful day and made it a little less so- cannot speak highly enough.
Fantastic experience: Great service, and care every time! Dr. Monica Leslie took great care and attention to us, as always, under sad circumstances. She's very kind, thorough and informative. Fish Creek Pet Hospital is the first place I go, and we are never disappointed. I would highly recommend this team, from the bright and attentive Front Staff, to the thoughtful and caring Medical Team, Techs and Vet's. Very good service and advise all around. Thank you for your kind card Dr. Monica
Fantastic experience: Thank you for your help , support and compassion when we had to bring my dog buster in last night . It was really appreciated, and will never be forgotten .
Fantastic experience: Sadly we had to put our Furbaby Sabrina to sleep due to bone cancer. The staff were absolutely amazing. I can't express enough how amazing the staff was.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing friendly service. My baby wiener dog got stung by a bee, her face swelled up. I took her here, they took her in right away and saved my baby. Thank you so much fish creek pet hospital for everything you did for my Winnie, I highly recommend this place. 10 stars service
Negative experience: I have come here so much and not going to be anymore. I came in this morning, someone blocking the ramp for anyone with a bike a trailer (Me), stroller, wheelchair and such. I came in and pointed to the car, was quite (Not yelling) and wanted to let them know about it blocking. I got told to "BE QUITE" (Wasn't yelling) and them I said okay well I wanted a bag of my dogs food (Paid for and on file), water refill on 2 big bottles (for my dog) and they then told me to "SHUT UP AND GET OUT" Seriously what kind of Garbage service is this when a Customer is coming in and gets treated this way. Prices are super high and have told them it's hard for people to pay that much. They have done stuff differently then other places would. They really need to get a handle on their staff, prices and how to generally show some dam Respect to a Customer
Fantastic experience: Very positive interaction. Brought my 2 huskys in as they were quilled by a porcupine with minimal damage about 4-5 each around their mouth but wanted to make sure there wasn't any embedded in their mouths. Took a few hours but they were handled with care and I am forever thankful as I was stressed to the extreme. Highly recommend and not overly expensive for the emergency procedures. Our family is forever greatful for your love and compassion.
Fantastic experience: My cat was sick & Dr Aliza Wedin was one of the most understanding, compassionate & patient vet I have ever met. She explained my options & made everything affordable for me. My cat received excellent care & I could tell when he came home, he wasn’t traumatized or anything. I had to return to the vet a few other times that week & the initial fee was included for up to a week of care if my cat Burklee wasn’t getting better. The front staff is kind & respectful. Overall this vet hospital is the best in the city, it’s always unfortunate to have to visit here with your companion, but if you do, you & your furry friend, will be well taken care of.
Fantastic experience: I had recently used Fish Creek under some stressful circumstances, and I was extremely impressed with the level of care my pet received. From the moment we arrived, the staff were compassionate, professional, and attentive. They took the time to explain the treatment options clearly and ensured that my pet was comfortable throughout the treatment. It was evident that the team genuinely cares about the animals they treat. Thanks to their expertise and dedication, my pet received the urgent care needed and is now on the road to recovery.
Fantastic experience: The staff was very welcoming and comforting to our big guy Oreo. We were very grateful and appreciated all the assistance the staff had done for us. Our Oreo was in rough shape and the nurses and Dr. were so attentive to him. The Dr. had gone out of her way to try and assist us in every which way possible and explained Oreos situation to us. We as a family, can’t thank the staff at Fish Creek Pet Hospital enough for getting Oreo as comfortable as possible until we are ready to discuss our next steps within a few days. Thank you for caring and showing so much support to our Oreo and his situation.
Fantastic experience: We had our little puppy Aria in the hospital. All the staff took really good care of our little one. The staff was always responsive and let us know of our puppy's progress and treated her very well. We appreciated all their help and getting out little puppy home and healthy again. Thank you to all the sfaff.
Fantastic experience: Firstly, I'm very confused by any of the negative reviews as I've never felt so cared for at any clinic I've been to as I did at fish creek. Initially, we stopped at SAFE in okotoks and they were amazing! They triaged my dog and told me he was stable and they had a 6 hour wait but fish creek had only an hour wait... they charged me nothing and I left for fish creek where they were super friendly upon my arrival. Checked me in, had someone come triage Maui and give me time estimates. The vet was great and patient with me while I tried to work through my options for treating him and were very transparent about costs throughout without my inquiring about it... it's the worst when your furry baby is not well, I absolutely appreciate every person I encountered at both clinics! I even have myself wondering if they take regular patients haha
Fantastic experience: Thank you to the wonderful and compassionate staff and Vets at Fish Creek. I had to bring my sweet cat to their emergency clinic ftom my regular vet as he was in an end of life critical state. They fit me in quickly abd everyone was so kind and compassionate, even when I decided to take Bailey home to have him euthanized there as we both needed a bit more time. Thank you to the staff and the Vetrinarian for your kindness and care in making a sad situation a bit easier.❤️
Fantastic experience: Dear staff at fish creek thank you all so much for taking such good care of Amanda and their baby zero. I have to say a HUG thanks to Jennifer and the true compassion and just all around love and support that was given tonight. I know its never easy to see a friend and colleague lose a fur baby. Thank you all for the support you have all shown for Amanda. Tonight was so very hard especially being a puppy who fought long and hard along with all that knew and loved him. We really appreciate the care and kindness.
Fantastic experience: Fish Creek will ALWAYS be my go-to. I have had to use them for both of my dogs, and the individual care and concern for their well-being has always been spectacular. I have never worried about leaving my pups there to be treated, never a bad experience. Even on their busiest days, you will never feel forgotten about. Gold star for pet care.
Negative experience: My dog went swimming and was acting weird after, tail down and pacing, and restless, took my dog in to Fish Creek, and the first thing they do is take x-rays before they have even assessed him....$500 bucks later anti nausea medication given and iv fluids.... took my dog home and his tail was even more down looked broken, and not one vet staff checked his whole body or tail during the assement, even when I said his tail is never down , its a pointer tail and always wagging, or facing up. I barley touched his tail and he yelped so loud. Took it to a real vet the next day and turned out to be swimmers tail not stomach issues. Thanks for the 500$ vet bill for the wrong diagnosis. But hey thanks for trying to push antihistamines and other medications on my dog on the way out instead of doing an actual full assemesnt. Poor dog suffered longer then needed too for a wrong diagnosis and wrong medications. Never taking my animals their again. All they do is push labs, medications and take your money. All they had to do was there job to do a head to toe assessment. Absolute ridiculous. Do not take your animals their. Just a cash grab. Once they tried to do complete dental work on my 12 week puppy for a cracked tooth, when the next week he lost 2 of his baby teeth including the cracked one. 2200$ they wanted for that tooth. Luckily we used common sense and went to a real vet. Never again going to this emergency place again. Zero accountability.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Ana was very understanding, compassionate and meets your specific need. Some of the staff (Jennifer, the nurse in charge for Ginger and the lovely lady with bluish hair) were accommodating and really friendly. This will now become our official pet clinic to go to! Thanks for looking after Ginger
Fantastic experience: I called several clinics when we had to make the very difficult decision to put our senior dog down. From my first interaction on the phone, when we were greeted and taken to the suite, met the vet assistants and Dr. Monica, they all helped one of the toughest things I've done. They are caring, compassionate and very thoughtful. I hope you don't need their services but if you do, I highly recommend
Positive experience: Veterinary staff was excellent in caring and treating our 4 year old cat having GI upset. Unfortunately, the person at the front desk was not as nice. In fact, they were very rude and seemed to treat our visit as an inconvenience. We realized that there were more urgent medical emergencies happening at the time of our visit and were more than happy to wait but the unprofessional conduct by the person at the front desk was unacceptable and frankly very unbecoming. We're happy to visit again and just hope to be treated with a little more respect next time.
Negative experience: Fish Creek used to be really good, but it was bought out by a corporation & most of their staff left. I wouldn't have gone there at all, but my dog was very sick & they were the closest. Big mistake. I found them to be unscrupulous, the front desk staff to be immature & dishonest & the attending veterinarian uncaring. My dog almost died. I left there & took my pet to Alpine where she received excellent care. Had I not taken her to Alpine, she would not be alive today.
Fantastic experience: We had just taken in a neglected cat and had to bring her in due to sever fur matting. The team here was very friendly and fast and gave us an exceptional experience. Our girl is now mat free and happier than ever!
Fantastic experience: Yesterday was a very sad day for us. Our beautiful sweet Sophie was put to sleep. The staff and veterinarian (sorry I don't remember her name) where so kind and compassionate right from the moment we arrived. The nurse on duty carried Sophie from our car to the examination room. We knew it was her time to go but that doesn't make it ant easier. The private room was so warm and comforting for Sophie's last few moments with us. She had a bowl of very special treats (peanut butter, smarties, chocolate bars) all the things she shouldn't have. Thank you so much for your care of Sophie, my wife and myself.
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately we had to put my friends dog down tonight. Jennifer was absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond. She was in email and txt communication with us throughout the day and when we had to end up taking him in, she was waiting for us. She talked us through the whole procedure and stayed with us, she even brought human treats to offer him his last meal. She was a godsend in a most difficult situation. Thank you, Jennifer.
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately we received a diagnosis of osteosarcoma the other day. Dr Kolodziej was kind and patient with me as I broke down. She explained her findings in the xray, went over all of our options and most importantly, gave an honest prognosis. No drastic attempts for false hope was pushed at all. After getting home, my family and I needed to ask more questions as I was not in any state to retain what I was told. Dr Kolodziej called me at home to review my dogs case and she answered our families questions. Thank you Fish creek pet hospital for the way you treated my dog and I!
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this pet hospital. It was well worth the 2 hour wait to be seen by Dr. Chantal Brust. She not only was very professional but so incredibly kind to me and my pet during the visit. Even the staff members were so pleasant to deal with. I have been to this particular hospital with past pets and the experience was just as wonderful. Thank you so much Fish Creek Hospital for helping me take care of my fur baby.
Fantastic experience: Great staff and Drs. I had to have my 24 year old furbaby put to sleep and they were so wonderful and caring. I was not rushed at all and was told I could stay all day if I needed. everything was explained very well and when the time came you could actually see the pain in the drs eyes.. it meant alot to me because this was a very hard goodbye. Two days later I got a beautiful hand written card from the dr.
