Expérience négative: I contemplated hard about leaving this review, but came to the conclusion that people should be aware and educate themselves before committing to any surgeries or complex procedures here. In all honesty, Dr. Stefanelli was very informative and courteous, and Robyn the vet tech was very thorough, attentive, and professional on the first visit. This is exactly why I thought, "okay, let's go ahead." But management on the day of the procedure, and how this financial situation was handled, was far from acceptable. I brought my dog in for a dental extraction. I signed the paperwork, dropped him off, and left the clinic. Shortly after, I received a ping from my pet insurance company, which is when the massive issue started. I had only then and there learned that the $870 "Canine Dental - Level 1" charge blowing up my out-of-pocket estimate was actually a bundled full dental cleaning. This had never been explicitly explained to me beforehand, heavily impacting the expected costs. I called the clinic once and was told to clarify it with the insurance. The insurance deciphered a few things for me, prompting me to call the clinic a second time. On the second call, I told the receptionist that I couldn't proceed with the full cleaning as it is not something I had agreed to, and asked for options. She passed me to the manager, who gave me a speech about how bundling this is every vet clinic's "gold standard" of care. When I firmly asked if the extraction could be done without the full cleaning, the manager suddenly accused me of having been "verbally abusive" to their receptionist. I was not abusive; I was simply asking direct questions about an unexpected bill and trying to understand my options. The manager then tried to force me into making a decision right then and there. Because of the wildly inappropriate accusation and the coercive nature of the call, I told them I was no longer comfortable leaving my dog in their care. I immediately drove back to the clinic and picked him up. I have since consulted other clinics. Their estimates provide a transparent breakdown of every single item (separating base fees from extractions) and offer a realistic low/high range instead of hiding costs in vague bundles. The contrast in transparency is night and day. Transparency and communication matter. Being accused of abuse simply for advocating for your pet and asking reasonable questions about a massive invoice is unacceptable. I encourage anyone considering this clinic to demand a clear, unbundled breakdown of costs, get your insurance pre-approval fully explained before drop-off day, and ask detailed questions upfront.

Expérience fantastique: Just took my dog in for a rabies shot. His annual and had a new vet. First time that we have had her since going to the clinic. She was so absolutely fabulous and just very thorough and paid a lot of attention to my little guy gave him a very thorough exam. I was quite pleased with it. And my dog is a little bit grumbling, and she managed to get him in a real nice headspace to give this needle. Anyway I can’t say enough her. It was a great experience and we will certainly be booking appointments with this new vet Next time we go. I can’t remember her name I would mention it.

I was blown away at her service and the hospital should know how lucky they are to have her and should do everything they can to keep her.

Expérience négative: Its been nearly 2-3 months now since these vets nearly killed my cat and they still refuse to take any accountability for their actions; they will not return any emails or phone calls. They charged us 1500$ and then we had to spend 500$ at another vet to repair the damages torbay caused. These vets do not care about you or your pets, they only care about your money; after they take everything you have (and they will) and still have concerns or issues they will ignore you. If you care about your pets do not bring them here, take them to a vet that truly only cares about helping animals. Please don’t make the mistake of trusting these people like I did.

Expérience négative: We brought our kitten in for a routine spaying procedure, they pressured us into getting her vaccinated for everything including rabies even tho she’s an indoor cat; by the end of the procedure we were charged over 1 thousand and they sent us home. We followed their instructions but her staples fell out leaving the wound open after a couple days at which we noticed it looked like it was getting infected so we brought her in ASAP that night to get it closed up again and to get some antibiotics in her system which cost us another 87$ and when we finally got home we took a look at what they did and it was done very poorly, they had a staple put in her stomach and not even in the incision and didn’t clean up any of the blood afterwards, the other staples looked to be rushed and it looked more like a butcher did it and not a vet and they fell out again by that morning. If they had let me look at it while I was there I would have told them to redo it properly but instead they took her to the back and didn’t let me see her until after I paid and it was time to leave. When I had my first cat done here last year it was done perfectly and was affordable but after this, this is the last time I will trust these vets with anything living. We have been keeping the wound clean ourselves until a proper vet opens on Monday who can do the job right. The receptionists were way more helpful than the vets and I feel they are probably more qualified to do the vets job.

(even if we’re just dropping in for a free treat when out for a walk) I’m sure it’s all about Hobbes but I’ll take some of the love too. ,:-))

Expérience négative: **Update: I noticed, and you can see from the reviews, that the owner responded to reviews both before and after mine. Even those posted around the same time. The clinic has not responded to my review, nor contacted me. **Update 2: Tried to contact. No answer. Sent an email to address listed on website. It says you can contact it, but they don't check daily. That's OK, but I emailed 3 weeks ago when no answer, and they haven't replied. No refund offered. Summary: Took dog to vet for UTI, advised of options. Chose to do extraction of urine for more accurate results and to prevent contamination. I was given medication to give dog, to calm her. Receptionist (vet assistant?) called before extraction appointment and thought it was for to catch the urine. Advised it wasn't, it was supposed to be for extraction. Came in for extraction appointment, different vet doing it, and advised not enough dose of medication given, a dog my size is usually given more, previous vet must have given lower dose and thought they could do it anyway, but they weren't there. Was not advised it would be a different vet. Had to rebook and buy more medication. Asked receptionist/assistant to confirm correct dose, as I did not want to keep drugging dog and buying more medication if not necessary. Receptionist/assistant said it should work, as that is dose normally given (yet, wasn't given previously). Bring dog to second appointment, still a different vet from original, dog so drugged she pees on floor. Receptionist/assistant takes her in, comes back and says dog has no pee left. Asked if I could give her water and come back, receptionist/assistant says no, it'll be too long a wait. Advises my vet quit (first time telling me this). Says they will call to see if they will continue with extraction or do something else, and get reassessed by new vet. Take dog home, at which point she immediately pees again without any water needed to be given. They did not contact me. No new appointment set. Dog drugged twice with nothing done. Charged for "consultation" plus medication. Nothing done, issue unresolved, vet quit and I was not notified. Total spent $242.10 for literally no reason. Still no contact, and no refund offered. Unprofessional, disorganized, would not recommend.

My recent visit with my 13 year old chi mix was nerve wrecking for him and me. Dental is a difficult issue. But Dr. Stefanelli was so informative and kind with Chase. When he left the room Chase let out a very unusual cry staring at the door. He wanted him to come back! Lmao! Now that's 5 stars right there

My boys see Conner he is absolutely amazing Ive got to say he comes in the room and I have 2 large dogs he gets down on the floor with them immediately ! they love him !! I’ve seen other DRs there too who were also great ! Then there is the rest of the staff who I can’t say enough good about I can’t name all but each one is great just a few of the names I’ve had so much help from with enough calls and visits I can’t forget lol Sara , Liz , Julie , Jamie , krista and I may not have this right but Courtney and Robyn ( those I didn’t name as just as great I’m just forgetting a couple ) either way names don’t matter this is just names I remember because they have been on shift more so while I’ve been in or on the call when I’ve called needing meds or advice or a last min visit ! Even when they are full if they know it’s something your stressed over they will go beyond to try and get you in , Conner has even used his lunch break to see my boys ( lunch break who does that ) I mean you’ve got to not only be doing this as a job if you are willing to give up your lunch break to help a dog. That shows me he truly cares about his patients and all the staff are the same , they go beyond to make things easier for the animals and the parents of the animals lol keep doing what your doing trah staff because your doing a fantastic job !!

I really appreciate the fast response to get him bandaged up quickly and sent away with antibiotics and anti inflammatory. Dr. Alberto explained the injury very clearly to me, which was greatly appreciated. He’s a very friendly and professional vet. While the short visit cost nearly $500, the care was very good. I was given multiple options for how I could move forward in treating my pets symptoms. Dr. Rubenstein explained the care that my cat needs moving forward, without making me feel neglectful for not having known this information. My two stars are solely for their politeness, if they weren't so respectful verbally they'd have no stars. IF, thats a big IF you can even get through, I've never called not even 1 time without spending multiple hours calling and leaving messages to the point i have to call the emergency line just to hear a human voice and then they tell you to call their normal line and leave another message like i havn't been doing that all day, an "animal hospital" should not be this hard to for a paying custumer to contact their payed vet, especially when its an exotic animal, and they have antibiotic medications for my pets skin infection for me to pick up and they cant even take 30 seconds for a phone call i think its selfish and pathetic and even though they are great doctors, they are horrible with custumer service, if you have a real exotic animal, like reptiles not just a cat or dog, go anywhere else but here, theyre labeled an exotic animal hospital but are skittish around large reptiles, BEWARE THIS VET, THEY HAVE 0 EXPERIENCE WITH REPTILES, ESPECIALLY SNAKES.

Expérience fantastique: I can't say enough good things about Dr. Rubinstein and the staff here. Having had Guinea Pigs for 7 years, my partner and I have seen a lot of vets in this city as small animal issues require immediate care most of the time. Most of our experiences were with vets who didn't have a wealth of knowledge on small/exotic pets so the care often felt lacklustre and like the vet was simply trying their best without having proper training. We have been luck enough for the past two years to have Dr. Rubinstein able to make time to see my pigs and not quickly write a scrip to get us out, but provide expert small animal advice no other vet has. Every time he has come in and given extremely in detail information about what could possibly wrong, as well as a range of treatment options and what to monitor for to ensure that things don't get worse, as well as a wealth of knowledge on why the illness might be something other than what I initially thought was the problem. Not to mention he is incredibly kind and caring with my pigs every time, it is incredibly sweet. The rest of the front of the house staff have been so kind every time and try their best to find time knowing that small pet issues can come up and need to be addressed quickly to make sure they aren't fatal. All of this AND they have the most affordable vet prices I have seen in town makes this place an easy 5 star review. I cannot say how thankful I am for how good Torbay Road has been to me, my partner, and our 3 fuzzy potatoes.

Expérience positive: Caring vet and staff. Pricey though. We took our Miniature Schnauzer there to get a replacement for the heartworm and flea medications we use in the US; needed an exam first which we expected. I was also was able to get enzymatic Toothpaste, which you can't get at a pet store.
