Expérience négative: I took my cat to this clinic in November because he had a noticeable lump on his jaw. During the visit, the vet briefly opened his mouth, felt the lump, and told us it was an infection caused by severe gingivitis. We were given medication and sent home with a bill of nearly $300. Unsatisfied, I sought a second opinion from another veterinarian. At our very first appointment, they conducted a far more thorough examination. Tragically, my cat was diagnosed with very aggressive oral cancer, and I had to say goodbye to him shortly after. The diagnosis came as a complete shock, especially given how serious his condition was and how it was missed during the initial visit at the first veterinary . I am deeply disappointed with the level of care and assessment provided by this clinic.
Without being able to directly speak to the medical records, I have come up with this for a response:

While professional privacy regulations keep us from discussing the specifics of a visit publicly, we would truly welcome the chance to speak with you. Our doctors' primary goal is to be as thorough as possible, and in cases involving oral masses, we focus on identifying every potential cause, including the possibility of cancer, right from the start.
Because a visual and physical exam can only provide part of the picture, we always emphasize the importance of specific diagnostic tests to get the definitive answers we all want. We know that pet parents often have to make incredibly difficult, heart-led decisions based on their circumstances at the time, but we always strive to ensure every option is presented clearly so you can make the best choice for your pet.

Expérience négative: Horrible place my dog got ivdd, and they refused to see him said no. The funny thing is they put on my case verbal abuse but what they are forgetting to put on there notes is they upcharged me 450$+ and hounded me to neuter my dog. I refused and then low and behold they couldn't handle someone getting fustrated over my furbaby being taken advantage of. The fact a vet clinic is supposed to uphold safe values for animals and yet refuse is disgusting. Also money isnt the issue your service is apparently.

Expérience fantastique: VCA has always been my go to for my dogs, my two pitbulls, my baby girl has very bad allergies, when I had a litter of puppies we got her ultrasound done there. Check upstairs, shots and everything else. And now I have another dog and they have been amazing with him as well. We love them!

Staff are always thorough, knowledgeable and friendly, every single one of them. I have never felt like I was being tricked or pressured into unnecessary health services. Expérience fantastique: Highly Highly recommneded Vet Clinic in Saskatoon. Dr Adeleke took care of my dog Rossi. Very knowledgeable in what she is doing. She helps us to decide based on our financial needs. Jessie was our tech who also looks aftwr Rossi. Explainse everything what we need. They open earlier just to accomodate our time. Donna is very nice too. Everybody who works here at this VCA location is a top notch! There is a time I have to go to different VCA but I always go back to Frontier and they always fix the issues on my dog. Highly recommended. I am very thankful I have the frontier staff. Will not going anywhere again.

From the moment I made the phone call to get my boy in last minute, to the care and attention we recieved during our visit, to when we were walked out the door at the end of our visit. Expérience fantastique: As a first time pet owner I was nervous going into my first exam. They were very educational without being condescending which I appreciated very much. Everyone was so caring. I loved the whole experience.

Expérience négative: I took my dog because she had an irritation with her ears. They got us in quick and ran test, told us it was a combination infection in her ears but I don't think they did a full exam because after the appointment we noticed the skin irritation in other places than her ears. We used the medicine they gave us which seemed to sooth her ears at first which is what we told them when they followed up in two days (hardly enough time to know if something is healing properly) but it didn't heal it because it was obviously something else they hadn't even looked for even though you pay for a full exam. When we called to correct it saying it wasn't what they thought and asked if they would give us an antibiotic without charging us to re-exam and re-test for the same thing we already paid for they didn't respond for 2 days and then called to say no they would not help us and hung up on us. It is very frustrating that pet owners are gouged for health care and then when the vet gets it wrong it's on the owners dime to correct the mistake. It seems companionship has become a luxury item and customer service and general human decency are a thing of the past.
Expérience fantastique: I moved and lost my senior cats pills. They saw Milly and helped me get her thyroid medication even though they are not our normal vet. When I spoke to them about the new kittens bullying Milly they sold me a plug in device that emits something that helps calm them down. The next day they were a lot calmer and happier with each other. They really care about animals and it shows!!
Expérience négative: They have gone downhill since they were bought out. Always overpriced. All about the money for them. It seems like it's a revolving door for new vets and all they want to do is expensive tests. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Expérience fantastique: I have been taking all my pets here for over a decade. The staff are excellent, knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. Many years ago, my old farm cat passed while getting dental work done. The team did everything they could to resuscitate her but she was just too old. It was a huge loss for the family. A week later a sympathy card came in the mail with a fridge magnet. It was a handmade card with her paw print inked onto it. The staff took the time to make up something really special in our time of grief. We still have that fridge magnet with her little paw print. More recently, our farm dog met the her end to coyotes. An unfortunate fact of life when living in the country. I notified the clinic that she had passed and a week later a sympathy card arrived in the mail. It’s these small acts of kindness are what set them apart from the other vet clinics.

Our Cat ran out of insulin and we wanted his prescription faxed to the university so we could pick it up there. because it's close. they want to charge Us 20$ not including tax for a simple FAX!. again people are good but Our pets cost enough as it is.. Places like this should be ashamed. Also Extremely jacked up prices... 0/10 if I could
Expérience positive: Excellent care. Very expensive for anything other than a a general exam. It makes it hard to afford keeping your pets healthy especially if you have multiples. I have to travel 3 hours away to find somewhere affordable for dentals and spays.

Did a thorough exam, and prescribed just what he needed. They answered all our questions and met us with compassion and understanding! If we lived in Saskatoon this would be our regular vet! He went from super stressed to able to sleep & relax!

Expérience fantastique: Friendly staff and very thorough care - also convenient hours. We liked that they were upfront with the cost of the treatment options, and provided quotes for treatments that might be needed. Dog was fine afterwards (not too scared or upset) so he was well treated during tests/exam in the back.

Definitely and highly recommend them and their very reasonable rates for their services which would of costed alot more elsewhere. Expérience négative: We enrolled in the puppy program and was told the the nuter, regular shots, and all other things would be covered. Nuter still cost us over $350. Still had to pay for shots, as well. They sold us meds to calm the dog down before visits. We had to pay for them and if we didn't use them they had no patience with the dog. We didn't like using them because he really got down for at least a day after the fact. Complete waste of money and time. After we expressed our disappointment with the program, the lady immediately asked if we'd like to sign up for another year... seriously. This place is a joke and a money grab. Where was the $88/month going? $1056 for the year and it maybe saved us $600. Go somewhere else. Save yourself the frustration and extra bills.
Expérience négative: Check up and 2 vaccines for my cat were $192… ouch… all fees went up. Last time I was there it was $80 exam, and $20 and $40 for the vaccines. Price jump of $50. Crazy. And I know “3 year” vaccines are the exact same as the 1 year vaccines but they hike up the price since you might not be in again for 3 years (they explained it as “added value” but really just gotta squeeze some extra money out of you since they don’t like that vaccines actually last longer so they can’t get you in every year). I liked going there for consistency but I think I’ll have to look elsewhere from now on.

Staff seem inexperienced and some have poor customer service skills, one bet in particular was laughing with a coworker while after telling me my cat is seriously ill and then after this appointment barely followed up at all. Switched vets and have had much better luck getting the services that seemed difficult for VCA frontier

Expérience négative: I’m going to ~try~ to keep this short, but I have a lot to say and I’ve had the last couple months to mull this over - and I’ve only become increasingly angry with the way things have gone down. I have been taking my dog to Frontier for 3 years, and today after an appointment with the university vet clinic, I am reflecting on the last year that my dog has been having health issues and how she has been failed. I first brought her in last year with an ear infection. I spent quite a bit of money between the the general check up x 2, the ear examination x 2, antibiotics x 2, ear cleaner. This was in the span of two weeks, and the issue really didn’t clear up completely. Complete waste of money because today I found out she had plant matter stuck in her ear canal that was somehow missed twice. It was found and taken care of immediately. Then, I took her in because there was a lump in her mammary glands. Two separate occasions samples were taken and blood work (not cheap), and results were inconclusive. Then just in February I had to take her in for lameness in her leg. X-rays were given, a biopsy, bloodwork, etc. AGAIN, after about $2000 all said and done within two weeks, I was given no answers. None. Everything somehow was inconclusive and I was told it could be fungal or cancerous, and just had to have that looming over my head while I waited for a surgeon to look at her at the university (where they were WAY CHEAPER and much more compassionate and actually got me some answers without being too invasive for my dog. I had quite a few people tell me over the last year to stop going to VCA but I appreciated the hours and they were nice . However, ‘nice’ does not cut it. I am now really questioning competency and because of that, especially the way they charge their clients. Zero integrity. So, I do NOT recommend this clinic, and after having a good experience finally, I will never set foot back in there.
Expérience fantastique: Dr. Ella 10/10. We brought Artie our goldendoodle to Frontier because he had an infection. She was caring, very thorough, friendly & spent time explaining everything. The other staff were friendly and caring as well. Very pleased with the service we had there.

Expérience positive: My doggos regular vet was on seasonal holidays so I was happy that VCA was able to see my boy on short notice. I paid more than I wanted to but who wouldn't when its your best friend needing help and healing. Happy to say Nanook is on the mend from a bad ear infection.

Expérience fantastique: We love our pets like family and have had a difficult time finding a vet who seems to be genuine. We have been to this clinic on several different occasions and met with different doctors and each has been knowledgeable and kind. I have not felt like any of the treatments needed have been over priced, and more importantly it feels like the vets work with you to recommend options that would work best for your pet. Also - It seems like they are well staffed as I have never had to wait for an appointment, when it is urgent they have gotten me in same day on every occurrence.

Expérience négative: They will mislead you into getting tests you do not need done, blood tests especially and also anti nausea medicine, and stuff that's not very safe for dogs either to boot.. been swindled a couple times already and they will recommend science or royal canin which are very low quality foods but they recieve a commission every bag they sell so . When you buy food, grain should NEVER be the first ingredient. Any vet that recommends this is garbage, there should be almost no grain in your pets food so go with Acana, taste of the wild, orijen things like this.

Expérience négative: I googled and chose this clinic for my puppy to do the regular check and have shots,the first time I went there is because my new puppy kept biting his back legs and tail,I have no dog raising experience and think he needs to see a doctor,they gave my puppy an examination and a demormer pill and charged me $129. then I made an appointment 2 weeks later to have a vaccine shot,this time they also charge me $82 for another examination without letting me know in advance. they gave an excuse said 16 days is over 2 weeks,it's their policy to do the examination before vaccine shot,but they never suggested me to have the vaccine shot 2 dyas earlier while it can.I was charged for $164 winthin 16 days for a healthy puppy for mere examination. I had thought it's the shots that cost me the money,but I found it's the unnecessaryexamination. will not go there anymore.
Expérience fantastique: VCA was not our normal vet clinic, but when our dog got bit on a Sunday, VCA was the only place open (besides the ridiculously over priced u of s vet clinic). Went to VCA and automatically knew that we were going to change our clinic. The staff was amazing, the price is not ridiculous, the hours they are open is later than any clinic in the city and the app they have to stay on top of your pets needs is amazing. Dr. Keen is our main doctor but have been to see multiple doctors there and they have all be friendly, knowledgeable and most importantly they treat our dogs like they are their own. When our dog went in for stitches, they texted us pictures and kept us updated to how she was doing. I highly recommend switching to this clinic.

They have been supportive when I have made calls to the front desk regarding my animals health and wellness, and they have always given me confidence in the care of my cat. They are upfront about the costs of tests, examinations, and services and work with pet parents about what care plan works best and discuss the potential costs openly so decisions can be made with informed consent. Expérience négative: Horrible experience.. They put our dog on the wrong meds (Dr Weber).. We had to use frontier because our regular vet was closed on the weekend.. our dog has allergies and he broke a blood vessel in his ear from shaking his head (hematoma). They put a tube in is ear to help the drainage which was counterproductive instead of draining it properly and putting him on the right meds it created a face infection.. Witch doctor Kean prescribe more meds. Finally after calling our regular vet and figure out the right medication for our dog.This is after our third visit and me figure it out what’s the right medication for Our dog allergies Dr Olver give us our third prescription. What would’ve cost A couple hundred dollars end up cost1000$. We will never return and never recommend this clinic. Three different Doctors none of them educated enough to help control is allergies.

Expérience fantastique: The staff at VCA Frontier is some of the friendliest people I have ever met. They care about every animal that comes into their clinic. Some might say that the prices are on the higher side but it is because they have higher quality care and better services to assist your every need. Besides having a new expanded clinic, they offer ultrasounds and are now opening up to emergency. I don't know about other pet owners but I avoid the university emergency clinic like the plague. The staff has always been friendly and I have never had a bad experience. They clearly are not in it for the paycheques as they care about every pet that comes in. 10/10 would recommend to family and friends.
